This officer [music] exposes a major package shipping scam. >> What happens is a victim's credit card information is uh compromised or stolen. And then what happens is the scammer then orders online items purchased with a stolen credit card. These items are then shipped to a business here in town. Uh the business is contacted [music] by the scam artist. The scam artist tells the business that they had the package shipped. Their spouse is involved in a motor vehicle crash or a medical emergency. They cannot pick up the package. So [music] they send the business a email with a return address label on it. They want them to fix that label to the package to send that package to them [music] out of state. The reason they do this is they use uh layers to uh avoid detection. So be safe, be aware, be smart.
