if it feels like pursuits are going crazy it's because they are we've got cars bashing mirrors spinning out going over curbs losing tires burning rubber and even people running and doing cartwheels and cars sliding around like they are on skates let's take a look but first over the weekend two trooper squads were assigned to respond to a car blocking traffic this happens all the time it's a black suv blocking the line of traffic and troopers already have a spidey sense that something is going on because they've got one trooper squad that came around back and the other trooper car is pulling up to the front nose to nose bumper to bumper they know something is up something's not right they ask for an additional squad and now take a look because there's movement in the black suv it starts to move forward hits the squad in front of them driver's going to throw it into reverse now forward again hitting the squad pushing ramming it ramming that squad out of the way you won't see this type of video anywhere else no other media is covering it and no one has content like this incredible restraint no shots fired there's not any real use of force involved and everything that happened there by those troopers was very patient and clearly they're using restraint in their response even though they might be justified to do something they're clearly using restraint they're not going to engage in a pursuit whether they want into a pursuit mode or not it doesn't matter because the vehicle is coming right back at them that's the vehicle coming head on in the camera now they go through the red light gonna blow the red light now we're going the wrong way we're going eastbound in the westbound lanes this is about 1 30 a.m over the thanksgiving day weekend any crash now would involve absolutely enormous forces thankfully they narrowly missed that vehicle and they took the next exit i mean going the wrong way on the freeway is just way too dangerous again huge forces involved in any type of head-on collision and higher velocity crashes are a force multiplier they did turn off their lights if you look closely and play that back the state patrol said this was an active investigation and that two of their squads were struck this car is just flying this is in vaness heights november 30th 12 39 am driver of a previously carjacked vehicle is trying to escape from police so we've got a violent crime involved van nuys heights a suburb in the northeast metro the vehicle is going to exit the freeway going way too fast come into a roundabout have a big strike on that curb which is going to largely prevent the vehicle from attempting high speeds again plus we've got the pit coming in state troopers or ramsey county deputies coming in spinning it out to fully disable it but it's not over yet and they're not giving up if we could give a letter grade a for effort here by this criminal who is definitely in a lot of trouble and not at all going to get away but they are running super hard great sprint potential i think their real career should be something with athletics maybe kinesiology they're going to end up on the roof of that location police have to call out a canine but ultimately apprehended just because you're on the roof of something doesn't mean you're going to get away now this one is a vehicle that fled from attempted an attempted traffic stop exited northbound i-35e at cayuga street this is saint paul area kind of the west side of the metro excuse me east side of the metro before they also got defeated by a curb turning after that stop light pretty sure the trooper thought about a pit right there ultimately decide against it thanks to mn crime which originally reported this and several other chases that we covered please please give them a follow helicopter overhead both suspects ended up ditching the vehicle running on foot and ended up in custody on this one pursuit of a mazda6 four-door sedan with stolen plates who knows what type of nefarious activity they're up to with this car since the plates are stolen vehicle was heading eastbound on ie 394 they deployed stop sticks did get a successful stop stick deployment before the driver exited northbound on penn ave from 394 and if you look at that clip if you look at that video again definitely looks like they knocked side mirror off the vehicle as they side swiped past that car officers did find this vehicle unoccupied near pennsylvania and hawthorne in minneapolis next i-35e we don't know a lot of details it's about this it's hard to keep all these straight again we're talking about 20 chases over a four day period that trooper did a nice job trying to get in that pit there at the last minute before they started into a residential neighborhood you can see them shutting down that chase officers carefully weighing the pros and cons of chasing into a neighborhood i-694 westbound at university avenue just north of columbia heights north of minneapolis that car was definitely struggling to keep its lane i think it's got deflated tires which is certainly going to lower the speeds involved and give them some control issues here comes our pit attempt and unfortunately it goes a little awry and the trooper's car is going to slide into that guardrail meanwhile we're going to have pet attempt number two which ends up being highly successful notice one law enforcement officer running up to the vehicle a little atypical as normally you want to see a felony stop from a bit of a distance they may have had good reasons to run up on the car but one thing to keep in mind is it exposes the officer to more risk a lot more risk if the vehicle ends up in motion again which greatly increases the chances of a major use of force incident or injury to the officer sometimes an officer needs to put themselves temporarily at higher risk in order to get something under control and contrast with the first video an officer in black appears right at the hood of suv so if it starts moving you're going to have an injured officer or a major use of force or both thankfully cuz suspect taken into custody without further incident the squad that did strike the guard rail looks like the damage was only to the front passenger side of that squad ultimately towed from the scene no news on potential injuries involved but relatively low speeds then as we were editing this video together as we were editing it this chase happened traveling all the way from the far northeast metro of lino lakes down to the west central metro it went on for a dozen or more miles this is highway 100 at highway 55 lino lakes police in pursuit of felony suspects for theft they stole about 1200. reportedly uh fitbits and just between you and me i wouldn't wear a fitbit if you gave it to me for free but that's just a personal preference curves are stopping criminals so lionel lakes taking full advantage of that opportunity to pit and that is a perfectly executed pit see officers staying back doing a felony stop nice thing is it looks like they fully disable that vehicle smoke and kind of tire smoldering is coming out i don't want anything anything more significant than a pet has occurred it's just it's just tire smoke but both suspects wisely gave up to police and surrendered peacefully 169 northbound in the west metro this is all about stop sticks stop sticks stop sticks it's a great deployment looks like it got multiple tires probably three tires maybe all four hat tip to the officers deputies and troopers out there that anticipate these chases get a great stop stick deployment like this stop sticks are the turning point in a ground-based pursuit the odds of capture trying 90 or higher once you hit them with those sticks they're on 394 heading back into downtown minneapolis if this continues that's 394 eastbound from 169 but you can see their car is really starting to struggle and there's smoke and tire debris and looks like they are really losing their tires fast we're starting to get to these lower speeds where a pit becomes a safer option for both officers and suspects looks like they maybe tried it there weren't quite caught up to that rear quarter panel still continuing 394 coming into the st louis park area right before minneapolis that car is really struggling really uneven we've got the front passenger side tired just on rims now the tires one of the tires is out of there so our criminal has endured longer than the vehicle maybe you're even feeling a little sorry for the vehicle at this point of course there's the pit looks like it happened at about 12 15 maybe 20 miles an hour so so really a pretty safe speed all things considered the suspect is out of the car before the car even stopped they are doing hurdles i don't think that car on the freeway break or saw them whatsoever given that it's dark at night and you know they are so pumped full of fear and adrenaline that they cannot even stay on their feet they're doing cartwheels and falling and tripping and i don't know if there's a chemical issue or intoxication involved but they will absolutely not give up what's crazy smart about the twin cities is there doesn't have to be a copter overhead it's hard to get away with the technology involved in these high def high zoom traffic cameras for these events we get a notification from our own homegrown chase notification system we pull these from the live stream and the real streams that they get back in the center are even higher quality full hd if you slow it down you can see the taser site on them they're running into a new apartment complex that's those five over one mixed-use condos and retail spaces that spring up all over the place built of timber hopefully you know what i'm talking about they're running back there into a courtyard this condo advertises its own lazy river if that's your thing check it out but anyway the suspect they're still being tracked on camera and you know this camera's zooming in about a quarter mile half a mile to get these views and if you squint you can see that they're surrendering you get a little bit of that red dot from the taser site and now we've got them in custody and we're doing our perp walk one thing i would say maybe we defund police lights a little bit this seems like an excessive amount of flashing and that's meant as a wall intention joke it's not very funny and i'm sorry then down the street this is the same general area i-394 it looks like they had terminated this pursuit but the person was still trying to get away and clearly not in great control of their vehicle and so it ended up sliding and hitting a very big curb or okay a wall officers were still nearby pulled up on this scene the vehicle stopped temporarily at these metering on-ramps because this is happening at rush hour they dropped off a passenger who goes over the fence starts running down the slope there into a little area to park or green space this is heading into minneapolis main thoroughfare police are going to do a canine track where the passenger was dropped off driver continues in that second to left lane but the car is already damaged and not in great shape so when they try to do a wild this wild turn they're gonna lose control again let's zoom in the car is upside down the driver also ran from the scene so by the time we zoom in the driver is already gone police squads pull up to manage the crash again great camera zoom they do get them in custody like subscribe share we can keep you informed without wasting a minute of your time
