County Sheriff's office today we're going to be working our Pahrump jurisdiction and keeping our community safe should stretch and you get all the businesses all the fun four or five on days and you you stack up Central and just roam so we started our shift at 0700 or 7 A.M um today we're assigned to our Southern sector so we're going to be patrolling our Southern sector it is I would say the biggest sector we have square mileage wise not much down there other than residential we've got three big residential housing communities there's a casino but other than other than residential it's just it's just uh mostly big long main roads that will be staying on just making sure no one's out there doing anything dangerous or life-threatening to the population of themselves we're headed over to uh suspicious right now it's just a adult female standing next to a vehicle with a broken windshield um I guess she has some binoculars and the reporting party thinks the vehicle might be stolen so we're gonna go down there and try and make contact with the female and take a look at the vehicle and see what's going on with it so right now I'm just looking for a van the dashvin is all messed up so the VIN should be here so 14 cup even so 14 can you repeat so we're getting cleared right now for a suicide threat to be a little bit north of us nothing's happened yet this is just a elderly female stating she's gonna take all her pills from what we're having here it doesn't look like she's taking anything yet but we'll still try and get there in a timely manner [Music] this is a third-party report this is coming from the Sheriff's Office is there a Patricia here okay are you her husband yeah okay you mind if I come on in we got a call from her daughter stating that she was going to take a bunch of pills and kill herself [Music] to film crew with me is it is okay if they come in with me okay all right where's she at in the back bedroom excuse me Patricia it's the Sheriff's Office you need to sit down wherever you'd like no rush did you text your daughter saying you were gonna take a bunch of pills yeah I did you did okay I did I did I'm can I tell you what's going on of course you can uh I have gone partially blind for some reason rather it's gone worse okay all right you might want to set yourself because this is a long story I want him out of here you want him out Jerry Hart I want him out of here unless your husband he lives here I want him out of my bedroom or I won't talk to you okay you want to step out for a minute okay thank you sir I I don't know how to make this short well let's just start with when you texted your daughter well when was that this morning a little bit ago I have a daughter I have three daughter-in-laws I don't know which one you're talking which one did you text you we're gonna take all the pills all three of them so one of them called in I'm not 100 sure who but one of them called us and and told us that so when you texted them what was your intention did you plan on taking the pills I don't want to die okay but I feel like I'm dying here okay that makes sense to you so you don't want to kill yourself but you feel like the current situation you're in is killing you I don't have I'm blind I can't see hardly anything okay and he him and I both just got out of the hospital with pneumonia okay and uh he's very ill he's not capable of taking care of me I don't know I want to go in a home and I don't know how to do it and I feel like I'm hopeless here that's how I feel have you talked to your daughter-in-law is about to help with that I've been down to uh my son I've been down to my son and his wife thank you house for a long time okay because my husband got put in the hospital I got put in the hospital right I got released and they took me to my son's house because I couldn't come up here by myself okay but you don't want to kill yourself I don't want to die okay do you want to kill yourself is that my phone it's somebody's phone it's not mine I don't I can't see where the phone is well here we'll we won't worry about that for now we'll just let it ring we'll be one of the kids yeah we'll just we'll call them back we'll let it ring I don't want to die but I don't have choice because there's I'm gonna die anyway well so but the question I'm asking is is do you have suicidal thoughts and or Tendencies do you want to kill yourself because when you text your daughters that you're going to take a bunch of pills to kill yourself not really I I don't really want to kill myself but I don't feel like there's any way out nobody will help me get in a home and he he says I'm faking have you talked to any of your children or family about helping you get inside a home yeah and I and all they say is is this the insurance won't pay for it go for it and this and that and the other you know the insurance won't pay for it I asked when I got out of the hospital and I've been down to my son's house I asked if um or she called and asked if I could get somebody to come in here two or three times a day because I I I I get a whole bunch of pills to take and I can so I can't do it by myself right and you don't want your husband to help you it doesn't help me okay he doesn't no is it because he doesn't want to or he's just not capable both both I don't think he's capable because you don't have any kids that live here I got kids I called them all one lives in Oregon one lives in in um pain meds that she does have access to she was fine last night woke up angry this morning been biggering ever since okay he hasn't seen her take anything and she does she says I didn't want to kill herself current situation she just feels like she's gonna die anyway I I called all three of them just now one of them said we had you down here three weeks mom you need to go in a home I said I know that but nobody will help me get in the home the other one lives in Oregon I didn't talk to him I talked to his to his wife and she just kept screaming at me don't do that Mom don't do that Mom hopeless I know I feel I know you know what I you know what I was doing I was trying to scare him into helping me that's not the way of doing it though that's well I'm gonna talk to your daughter-in-law about it I'm going down here and die I don't know it's not a good way of going about it you know you could just text him and say hey I'm really down right now can like call me and we can we talk but when you call them and say Hey you know I'm gonna take or text him I'm gonna take all these pills and kill myself it's different you know like I said I'm gonna call your daughter-in-law or whichever person called and I'm gonna talk to him and see if maybe I can get them to call you and start getting the ball rolling on them nope it was one of your uh whoever you texted that you were going to take the pills to get you taking pictures of me I don't care you've got a broken back right she needs some help the blindness [Music] it might just be that she wants she just wants some help and this is how and this is how she thinks she's gonna do it the same thing she says how she texted she doesn't want to kill herself she just wants she just wants help and that's how she thinks someone's going to respond to it it's definitely hard when the both of you are are struggling you know medically to try and lean on each other it's definitely a bit tougher yes ma'am to make me go to jail you're not going to jail no one's going to jail hon no one's going to jail I know that and I'm working on I'm working on trying to get everyone on the same page okay honey no one's going to jail I promise you no no no Patricia he doesn't what do you mean help over here like I said honey there's nothing I can do to put you in a home or or get you a nurse I can't do that okay that has to be done through through your family and through what they can do so like I said I'm talking to your husband and I'm gonna call call I believe it's your son Tommy Tommy I'm gonna call Tommy and see what we can try and get everyone to work on to get you where you need to go okay trust me I would never want to take you to jail family and do a little bit of help we see this a lot with our elderly population a lot of them can't get you know the help that they need through either their social security or their insurance it's an unfortunate situation but we'll we'll call around us and we're family members and see if we can get them all on the same page to work together and getting her where she needs to go Champlin with the Knight County Sheriff's Office and recorded line may I speak to Darlene uh well I'm her son you're her son yeah okay I'm calling about Patricia for future instances if you know this kind of stuff happens again don't ever hesitate to call us because she might she might not want to die today and she might have just been doing this to get a rise at you guys to get to try and get her help but you never know that tomorrow is going to be the same way or if you know a week down the line or a month down the line go for it yeah so I don't I don't know if this is something where you know there's always power of attorney where you guys can apply and get power of attorney over over your father and mother to make their their medical decisions for them if they're not capable or do whatever it takes because you know her do go into this extreme to try and get some help is definitely mind-boggling like it's wrong um but if if she feels like that's what she needs to do to try and get the help that she needs then then maybe there is something that needs to be done when it comes to her medical you know her medical health and your father's right so no problem sir have a great day stuff like this happens a lot we deal with this a lot with elderly patients who who just feel like they don't have another option and and they're just they're down it's definitely we have to separate you know our personal emotions from the job because we can't let our emotions affect our decision making when we have a job to do but it definitely is hard to to deal with you know considering I have family that's elderly and and there's potential that they're going to be in the same situation one day and I may or may not be able to help so it definitely weighs in the back of your head and it gets to you sometimes but we do our best to not let that happen because like I said we got a job to do at the end of the day and and if we can't get that done then you know what are they paying us for believe someone's inside it right now another day how are you good my wife ran out of gas right here in the car and then yeah she's bringing me a gallon of gas I came down here okay where'd you get the car from I got it over in uh Henderson yeah you got any paperwork on it no no no paperwork because I don't have anything coming from it you got an ID on you no she's got it in her purse okay because we were just out here and nobody was here with us yeah she walked home over there to tell me that she ran out of gas and she walked to get the gas and then she's supposed to be coming back yeah South 14 pocket well if you would have just been honest from the get-go I didn't know all right so that's why I was trying to check if I had my pocket he asked me so the next question I'm going to ask is is this bought by you or was it bought by somebody else and it's stolen oh no no it's what I did because I traded the truck in on it a brand new Dodge Dakota so you traded this do you have any of the paperwork a title a bill of sale paperwork from the dealership any of that [Music] um it's just a yes or no I don't need a full story I'm sorry no you don't have nothing okay all right so right now um we're just seeing if we got a transport unit available to come and transport this metal detention if uh we have to end up transporting them ourselves that's fine just gotta route all our Avenues first two to three grams he said he takes it for medical reasons I get that a lot of people do but at the same time it's still you know it's a controlled substance legal drug um he took the chance of carrying it on him he took the chance of when the vehicle was out of the garage vehicle doesn't have any registration no insurance should not be on the roadways and typically you know it's was about a year ago it's probably not going to get registration and insurance on it if it hasn't at this point what are the keys to this thing who has them um it's a key fob and if he doesn't have them then it's probably at the house hey John where's the key fob at when I went home I mean when I was at home and she came and said that she went out of gas and all the yellow was screaming I didn't know what if he was even out of gas I never had it I was just stuck here with it so she couldn't wear gas he's saying you have the key fob on you where's it at searched him he had like two three grams of meth out a little bit all right let's walk yeah come out hang a left all right we gotta vote for the warrant it's a traffic warrant out of our agency um we also got him on the possession of a control substance we got to do some testing on it make sure it is methamphetamine and uh we'll go from there get our Declaration of arrest all finished up so we can get it booked in so we've got our uh he said it was meth it looks like meth we'll go inside get it tested um go from there then we've got to get our Declaration of arrest done get it down to booking so he can get booked on his charges um but yeah this is generally what I'll take it out and test it but small plastic baggie it's pretty consistent with how they carry around their their dope so it's a little good find this is the narcotics we retrieved off the mail I believe to be narcotics matches uh consistency of meth so we use Nick narcotics identification system this is just kind of like a field test that we can do to see if the narcotic is you know presumptive positive or whatever we believe it is we just need a tiny tiny tiny amount and you put it in a little flick get it down to the bottom two and three last minute dabbing so it's blue it's presumptive positive for methamphetamine um Nevada all pretty much what we believed it was going to be so here we have our chart each test is labeled for the amount so we used U Reds amphetamine blue is methamphetamine I'd say this is between one one and two grams way more than one to two grams so then what we do from here this can all get tossed this has to get evidence taped and then it'll be put into a small baggie like this evidence bag which will have all the information on it for the case we pull a pouch number or an item number and then we'll book this into evidence the mail that we brought in he's being denied by the jail medical staff because his finger is apparently falling off so we're gonna go take a look um they're denying which means we're gonna have to take him to a hospital [Laughter] recording oh yeah it's pretty good see oh probably not sure you don't have an active you know so it's only me right now I'm not acting but I'm I'm only the one in charge right now do you have anyone that can sit on about the hospital [Music] and it cuts you yeah how long ago that happen yeah you should have I was like but I come to a point where like I don't care anymore I mean who cares but that's like the least of my problems they're probably going to end up taking him back to the hospital um because the warrant's the only thing because we have additional charges but because of the warrant someone's gonna have to sit on him so I'll see if we can do something about that warrant so we've been on this call for a total of five hours and 21 minutes from the first contact with the mail to now uh we've spent the last three hours and 12 minutes at the hospital the male suffered an injury to his ring finger on his right hand yesterday uh got all covered in the glue from the vehicle basically what happened is he needed to be transported to our not our but Las Vegas's UMC trauma for evaluation to his hand because they could not perform it here we went ahead and called the judge the judge lifted his warrant we took him out of custody will be long forming the drug charges so those will still be being charged against him through the D.A he's just not going to jail today so hopefully he can get into Vegas get his hand taken care of and and uh yeah let's just charge it'll still be there and for the future experience
