Do you have any injuries anywhere else? >> No. The shower just wouldn't turn on and I slipped. It wouldn't >> If something happened, you need to tell them you cannot. >> Nothing happened. and I slipped and the shower wouldn't turn on me, too. >> The shower didn't turn on your >> and I spelled. Your these these friends came, right? We didn't just show up. I didn't just decide to knock on a door for no reason, right? Yes, sir. cuz this is a big hotel and I don't want to step foot in here unless I get called. Right. So, not only did I get called by somebody else in the hotel that saying they heard screaming coming from this room, then your friends show up and say they got a call of their friend that said there was in distress. >> Okay. So, you can look at my hands. I did not enter. I didn't do anything wrong. >> I didn't do anything. >> Okay. Mate, >> can I can I go and call her dad? >> Please. >> He's my uncle. >> I mean, you can do whatever you want, but how old are you? >> She's sleeping. I'm 21. >> 21. So, regardless of what he says, it's not going to change. Regardless of if her dad comes or not, we're not letting them stay in a room together. >> That's totally fine. I just I just want >> So, she's leaving. Are you guys going to be able to give her a ride? >> We will give her a ride. She was in here for a little bit. >> We want to make sure that you're okay. >> I'm okay. >> Do you have any injuries besides the blood on your toe? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Can tell me what happened tonight. We were just arguing because I saw he was texting girls and I got mad and I got irritated and I was like why is this like we've been dating for 4 years. We've been okay. It was just like you know that's all it was. >> What did she tell you guys? >> I don't know anything about me. >> What did she tell you then? >> She's the only one that knows anything. >> I only got a call to help. >> Yeah, we had a call. She just kept saying like help me help me. Like >> and she's my she's my I was with her before this. She's my cousin. So I just >> What do you What do you think about this? What do I think about this? I think it's a problem. I've heard about issues between >> Can you shut the I've heard about issues between the two of them for years. I genuinely think this is something that he did. I think she's lying because she's worried that he's going to cause issues. >> Hello, are you home? Can you I call mom or something? Hm. >> I think she's calling like her parents or something like that. You >> saw he was texting other girls or >> So, did anything get physical? >> No. >> Nothing got physical? >> No. >> Okay. Cuz I'm seeing like the thermostat on the ground and [ __ ] like that. Yeah. >> I don't know anything about that. I came in here when I was upset and I was just like, I just need to take a shower and relax and the shower wouldn't turn on. >> Okay. So, you're telling me it was just verbal? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> We were yelling. It got loud. They called two times. I told them, "I'm sorry. Go call down." And my and then my cousin called me to check on me. I told her. I was like, "Hey, >> what's this? Is a smudge on your >> Yeah, I was probably just wrong. >> You want to look at it? Is that a smudge or is that a >> Oh, that's my makeup. Sorry. >> Makeup. >> Because we were arguing and I said, "Okay, well, I'm sorry. We'll calm down." And by the time we calm down, they came. >> All right. I'm just telling you if anything did get physical, this would be the time to tell us cuz things don't ever get better, okay? In these situations. I want to make sure that I've given you the opportunity to tell us if anything >> happened. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Give me a second. Let me talk to my partner. Okay. >> Talk to my cousin. >> Yeah. You I'll send her in. Okay. >> She has some >> Go talk to her again real quick. Huh? >> You want to go talk to her again? She wants to talk to >> I'm talking to her mom really quick. >> Okay. Well, she she wants to talk to you, too. >> That's totally fine. You need to make sure she does not leave this place. Her dad's >> Well, you guys are not going to give her a ride. >> Her dad is coming to get her. >> Okay. >> You can talk to her mom if you want. I can't I can drive her home, but she's not very happy with me for calling her. >> Would you go with your Would you go with her? >> I need to >> Okay, I'll go with you. >> Yeah. Tell her mom that you guys will give her a ride cuz we'd rather just get this done, you know? >> Um do you want do you want her to come with me? I can drop her off home. >> How did that happen? Do you want to sign complaints for that? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we're we're staying here. >> Well, what is your number when you get a new one? I Your mom wants you to go home. >> Tell Tell her that she's an adult, so I can't keep her here. We got nothing to hold her. So, it'd be better if she went with you. >> No, I want to go home with you. >> Where? >> Where? Where you're going? I don't want to go home. >> She wants to come to my I'm staying with my boyfriend tonight at She wants to come to his apartment. >> You got to go mom. She wants you to come home here, >> Mom. Her dad was maybe on the way, but I think she's going to find >> she's going to go here. She's saying nothing will happen and then he doesn't >> Sorry. I love you guys, but I can't. Not right now. I'm sorry. But But what if he does? What if he finds me? He doesn't care. I don't want to be here anymore. I haven't for the longest. You know that's the kid. >> Mom, please. >> If you want to sign complaints for your broken phone, you can do that. >> Or if he did anything else, this is your this is your opportunity. But >> not anything out of vengeance. You just need to >> if he actually >> I used to have a restraining order, but his par his family forced me to take it down. >> You sure it's down? >> It's down. Hey Torres, >> you want to just uh still have >> Yeah, but she used to have an OOP, but um she says it's down. Yeah, she says it's down, but you might want to just make sure. >> He's clear. >> Oh, he's clear. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. >> It didn't pop up then. All right. >> Used to because it's old now. And then >> Yeah. I was just want to make sure cuz that'd be that'd be better for us if she says his makeup like you okay. All right. If anything else like serious happens, you need to tell this is what you need to tell us. >> This is the report number. I mean, we kind of need to document what you guys tell us. >> Mhm. >> Oh, yeah. Thank you. >> All right. So, we're going to walk to the front. I don't think I have anything. Are >> you sure? If you forget anything, you can always call us back. And then >> by the way, you're a and you deserve to rot in hell because beating women is actually move. And I hope your parents know that, too. You're not sorry. We're here. We're here. We're here. >> I thought it would be different. >> No. It's not your fault. You're not. We're here for you. Okay. We're here. We're here. >> You said nothing happened. Please go in the room. >> I'm asking you, >> bro. >> If you go in the room, we like we get out your face. >> A little bit further information. >> I'm asking you to go in the room. I know you're trying to >> I think that's fine. >> Sleep it off, man. >> Wait, no. He wants Wait, no. He wants to say I was biting him. Okay, fine. Let me tell you guys what happened. >> Okay. Can we walk to the front, please? >> No. Let him know I'm telling you. No. If you want to tell them that, I'll tell them what you did. I'll tell them what you did. I'll tell them what you did there. I'll tell them I'll tell them what you did. I'll tell them what you did to me. Oh, me. Oh, did everything. >> Let's go. Let's go talk in the front lobby. She wants to tell us actually what happened, then we can can take everything in there. It's okay. >> I didn't say the whole time and now he wants to say I was doing something. >> I didn't say anything. >> No, he's a piece of us. >> He didn't say anything. >> Lobby straight out this way, though. >> Okay. So, is there anything else you want to tell us that happened? >> I do. >> Okay. >> One second. I'm sorry. It's actually kind of goes a little further than just today. >> Mhm. Um [Music] we we were together for like four years and the whole time it was really abusive. >> Um a year ago probably I had a restraining order and his sister contacted me forcing me to like get rid of it because it was ruining his like way to get jobs and stuff. And then after that he started like showing up at my job. he started showing up like everywhere I was with my friends and then he showed up at my house one night and then um him and my brother got into a fight and so now he's trying to press charges against my brother saying my brother jumped him and all of this and so he was telling me that if my brother was stupid about it he did it in front of like cameras after he showed up to my house he he told my dad that if my dad paid him off he would finally leave me alone so that's what my dad did and And then um he didn't leave me alone anymore. And then he told me that on February 24th, which is our court date, that if my brother paid him for at least the hospital bills or something like that, he wouldn't press charges against my brother as long as I was continuously like talking to him and like with him. So I was like, "Okay, like whatever." Like as long as it like keeps my brother from getting charges because he's been trying to get a job and he's 23. like, you know, like I don't want to his future because he was trying to defend me and my own bad decisions with an ex-boyfriend. >> And then today, um I wanted to hang out with my cousins cuz I haven't seen my cousins since 2 months because for the past 2 months he's been blackmailing me, telling me that like all this stuff. And so I was like, "Okay." Um I was like, "Is it okay like if I go to this Bollywood night with like my cousins and see some people like blah blah blah?" And he was like he was like going off on me. He was like you're a you're a you just want to go to meet guys blah blah blah. And like it wasn't like it wasn't that attention like intention from the beginning I like this whole time because it's been blackmail like I've known I didn't want to be with him like I haven't been >> but you got it in text message him blackmailing. >> I I don't have anything >> not for me. I'm just saying you should file you should file that report if you have evidence of that. >> Mhm. >> With Glen View. >> Mhm. because then that would help the case against your brother, you know. >> But he just broke my entire phone. >> I know. But you can always get phone records as long as you They can always subpoena that from the phone company. >> Okay. >> They're they're always there. Trust me. >> Okay. >> So, you can always get those messages back. >> Um, >> and then today I was just >> But as long as you know those text messages came through, then you can file the report and say, "Look, if you subpoena these text messages, that's what you'll see him blackmailing me." >> You have an iPhone, too, right? >> Yeah. You have an iPhone? >> I do. Yes. >> Does he? >> Yes, he does. >> It's all iMessage then. So, as soon as you get a new phone, it'll it'll be back. >> Well, he completely broke. I can show you. I took the pieces of my phone. >> No, but so >> that he [ __ ] threw at my face also. >> How did the physical argument happen? I mean, the physical altercation happened right now. >> Um because I was asking him to leave me alone and I said, "If you can just stop." I was So, I came back in the room. We were all fine. Um, my cousin and her boyfriend came in the room. I gave her a gift that one of my other cousins gave to give to her. We were perfectly fine. >> Everybody was in the room. >> Yeah. >> Including him. >> Yeah. It was me, him, and them two. >> We were perfectly fine. And then they left. And then he was just like he was like, "So, what were you doing at the party?" And I was like, "Okay, well, I wasn't actually doing anything like you know." Um, and I really didn't do anything. I just maybe I flirted with one person, but >> I already knew I didn't want to be >> this party right here. He was so he wasn't he wasn't with you over there? >> He wasn't >> because he's not Indian. He wouldn't understand like the music culture. And then he's just going off on me. He's like, "You're a only reason you went is cuz you went to go get by another guy." And I was like, >> "Okay, well, he's been my only body for the four years that I've known him. So, it's not possible." Like, you know what I mean? It's just like if you if you >> guys were you guys heard this >> by then. I dropped my left. >> Yeah, they left by then and it got like super heated and I was just very pissed. And I was like, "Okay, leave me alone for like 10 minutes so I can cool down because I'm angry at this point. Like you're accusing me and telling me like things about myself that I'm not." >> Mhm. >> You know, and this is like Is he staying in that room right now? >> Well, yeah. He's drunk. He can't go home. Oh, well that's my room, so he shouldn't be able to stay in there from the first of all cuz I paid for it. >> Well, the thing is is we you we have a ride for you right now. >> Yeah, I know. But that's what I mean. Like he he like he made me pay for the room. He said the only way you can go is if you pay for a room. So I know you're not going to go to another room to another guy. The only way you can even go is if like you come back back by 12. But my cousins didn't get here until like what 12:00. So he was like, "Fine, you can go for an hour." By the time I got back, he got into a he was just heated. He was drinking his Coronas. Um he was doing perks in there. He was taking so like I don't know. And then by the time I got in there, I'm hiding under the sink in the bathroom. And that's how when he started breaking my phone because I called them and I'm I'm I'm screaming and I'm asking him for help. He took my phone and he broke it continuously. He just kept shattering it. And I was and I and then at that point I was like, "Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry." I was just like, "I'll stop. I'll stop." And then when I finally stopped and like I was just agreeing with everything he was telling me to do, he was just like he was telling me like I forced him to do this. Like I made him this way and like the reason he broke my phone is because I because of the way I was acting and like because I freaked out and like if I didn't like yell at him and tell him that I needed time to myself, he wouldn't have hit me. He was like me on the bed. He was I couldn't even breathe. He took the pillow. He put it over my face and it was just like a whole bunch of and I ran into the bathroom. I tried to lock the door and the door wouldn't lock and he ran in and he kept going. He broke my bowl. He broke my phone. I was bleeding everywhere. He was being on my hands. If you go in the room and see the tub, there's blood everywhere in the tub. >> Okay, but like how how did it first like how did it first kick off? Like >> he just he was just mad because I asked him to leave me alone. >> And where where was your position in the room? like where were >> um by the AC. >> Okay. >> Then I was right by the window like I mean not the mirror. I was sitting not on the bed but on the floor because for me like when I get anxiety or I freak out I go on the floor. >> So that's where I was sitting and all my stuff was under the bench right under the mirror that's right next to the AC. >> I see it. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So he was just arguing with you uh verbally and while you were on the floor >> and he was standing up >> kept asking him to leave me alone. He got mad and he got frustrated and he kept grabbing me. >> Grabbing like how like I don't like he would grab me. He would pull my hands. It's not the first time that I've been involved with the police with him because it's been 4 years. I I He was 19 when I met him and I was 16. So I'm 21 now and he's 23 and he's about to be 24 and that's how it's been. >> Hitting or saying anything? They were just screaming. So, okay. The guy was talking and the girl was screaming. >> You don't know what she was. >> I don't know what I can't listen. When I when I call both are decent when closer call and other people say these people are start but so the first time you called they were fine they were quiet. >> Yes. >> Both of them there was no screaming. >> Five to six time I called there. >> Oh wow. >> Both are okay okay okay. We are not screaming or I say I will call the police. I I am giving you last warning but say okay okay okay but in the last time when I call so these are people who did not receive my call and hang up. So what was she saying the other times? >> The girl said to me, "I apologize. Sorry, I am not feeling sorry." >> She was like out of control. We didn't know she was having a mental breakdown or someone was hurting her. That's why he said, "You better do something here. This isn't just regular." Seems like she had a lot of chances to get out. >> At one point I heard the door open. She went out. I looked at the people. He's He brought her back in. I don't know. Was there only two people in the room? >> Yeah. >> Was it sound like a whole bunch of people? It's a lot of noise. It was noisy. >> Yeah. >> Hey. So, we want to talk to you one more time. What's up? Okay. And you got to be honest with us because she's saying a whole bunch of stuff. Okay. Okay. >> So, I I would recommend for you to be totally descriptive and honest about what happened. And I'm not saying anybody's lying. I'm just saying there's two parts of a story and I'm just trying to make sense and see if I can figure out what most logically happened. She came back from the party drunk. >> Mhm. Uh started arguing with me about something stupid cuz I didn't care about meeting her cousin. I told her, she said, "I want you to meet my cousin." I was like, "I didn't really give a like I don't care." And she's like, "What do you mean?" This and that. I started spazzing out about that and she's like, "Well, you don't care about anything. First you cheat on me, this and that." And I started slapping me and beating me and like push her off me cuz I'm like, "What the wrong with you?" And she starts biting me. She's like, "Yo, get off me." Like I start I'm trying to hug her, trying to comfort her, trying to make her feel better. She starts biting me all over my arm, slapping the out of me, beating me. I'm like push her off me. She wouldn't stop screaming. So I'm like, "Yo, stop screaming." I cover her mouth a little bit. She's like, "No, get off me. You can't get off me. You're" I'm like, "Bro, like what are you? You're screaming for no reason like this." >> So you were on top of her? No, I was like just telling her to calm down. I was standing next to her. Cuddled her up next to her. She That's why she bit me on the side. I was trying to cuddle up. I was trying to comfort her and call her. She started biting me on the side everywhere. And then and then she ran to the bathroom. She's like, "No, get away from me. Blah blah blah. You're crazy." And I'm like, "Bro, you're acting crazy right now. Screaming for no reason. It's like 3:00 in the morning. Like, you're drunk as acting crazy for no reason. Like, I didn't do I didn't hit you. I didn't beat you. I didn't punch her. I didn't do anything." And then she's like, "Nah." And she's like, "Carling cousin." I'm like, "You're a crazy." She's like, "No, get away from me." Slaps the slaps out of me. Slam her phone on the ground. I'm like, "You're crazy." So, I slam her phone on the ground and that's pretty much it. And then she starts then you guys knock. I was >> No, I did not choke her. >> She put a pillow over her head. >> I hit her with a pillow. That's about it. I didn't I hit her with a pillow, that's for sure. I hit her with a pillow cuz she wouldn't calm down. So, I hit her with a pillow like this. >> And then where where was she? >> Right here in the side. So, she hit her head right there in the back of that thing. I did not hit her once. So, I hit her with a pillow. That's about it. You can ask her. Hit her with a pillow. >> I mean, you you admitted to, you know, putting your hand on her face, right? >> Well, keeping her keeping her from screaming. You can't do that. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, >> you want to go to jail for this? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Call my dad. >> Sure. >> When we get there, you want to tell him to meet us? He can meet you. >> What police station is this? Just >> want to stand up then? >> Yeah, of course. I got to stand up. >> Dad, they said I'm getting arrested cuz they said I I put my hands on her mouth. So, they said I have to go to jail. >> You got anything that you're not supposed to have? >> No, sir. They said I'm going to jail, Dad. I'm going to Skooki police station. >> Next time I suggest you just, you know, leave the room or just I mean, >> I didn't hit her. >> You can either listen to her scream or leave the room, man. But you can't, you know, >> I didn't hit her. I mean, you can tell somebody to be quiet all they want, but if they don't want to be quiet, you can't force them, you know. >> Put that in. All right, cool. >> Hey, this way. Yo, my my friend, this way. You better start listening to me. Okay. >> Why are you pulling away? >> Because I didn't do anything wrong. >> You pulled away from me and got away. Okay, this way. >> Cold. >> Yeah, but you keep trying to get away from me. >> I'm not trying to get away. I have cops. I want to run to you. You dumb. You What are you talking about? >> You're getting all hyped up. >> I'm pissed off. I'm going go to jail for no reason. I didn't do I'm not supposed to go up. Are you dumb? Look at this. Look at that. >> Wait. What are you trying to do? Hey, stop. Stop. >> W stop. Man. Hey. Look. W. >> I didn't do anything, bro. I didn't do anything wrong, bro. >> Relax. >> I didn't do anything wrong. What did I do wrong through this? >> You restrained her. I didn't do I didn't hit her at all. >> It doesn't matter. You restrain. >> Look at her. That no marks on her body. What are you talking about? >> I didn't hit her once. >> Yeah, cuz you know how to do it. >> Cuz I know how to do it. You stupid. >> Stop being like this. >> I didn't do wrong. >> Why are you doing this? >> Cuz I didn't do nothing wrong. >> Okay, but >> can't break someone's phone when they're trying to call 911. >> She wasn't trying to call 911. She's calling her cousin. You dumb about when we get back. >> What's your first name again? >> I don't know, dog. >> All right. I was just going to say if you want to handle it like that then that's fine. >> Okay. >> Reing we can go the easy way too. >> I didn't do anything. >> Okay. Can I leave another round? >> Obviously you did. That's why you're under arrest. >> Yeah. That's why >> I'm under arrest. >> Wait. Grab the co. >> Yeah. >> Hey everyone. It's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and K9 handler. I've been to a lot of domestic violence related calls during my time in law enforcement and there are a lot of commonalities when it comes to dealing with these types of incidents. Now, for the first portion of this video, nobody wants to cooperate or say what happened, right? The girl and her boyfriend both have visible injury. There obviously was something physical that occurred there. That's common sense and very obvious. However, depending on where you're at, meaning domestic violence laws can differ from state to state in terms of what law enforcement is legally allowed to take action on. Sometimes, more often than not, you are going to need a cooperative victim in these situations, and these officers don't have that. So theoretically, if she never provided them with a statement and nobody said anything, they were just going to have to leave. And you can't force somebody to want to be a victim of domestic violence. They have to want to cooperate on their own and they have to want that help for themselves. And eventually, she does provide a statement. Then at that point in time, it's the job of these cops to interview both parties extensively since they both have visible injury and then determine who was the primary aggressor in the situation, who started this entire thing. And ultimately they determined that was her boyfriend and the marks on his body were likely the result of her trying to defend herself when he was holding her down, preventing her from screaming and everything else that he did to her. I can't say that for a matter of fact, but I'm going to go ahead and assume that that was the case. And then it sounds like there's a lot of other crimes that have been occurring as well, mainly extortion or blackmail where her boyfriend had been extorting her father as well as her brother. Then you have the boyfriend's sister that was calling her and it sounded like essentially threatening her allegedly to drop that restraining order, which can potentially be a crime. It depends on the circumstances there as well. But there's a lot of other things here that need to get investigated. However, it is very common for these types of calls and incidents to go unreported to law enforcement for a wide variety of reasons. for fear of physical retaliation. There's a huge mental and psychological element that goes into these things as well where the suspect will manipulate, gaslight, and play a huge mental game with the victim for sometimes years on end. And that will definitely alter someone's way of thinking. And sometimes they will tell the victim that something bad or worse will happen to them physically if they are to cooperate or contact law enforcement or tell their family about what's going on. Especially if it's a younger couple, they're immature. they don't have a lot of experience or a good family support system, then more often than not, they're not going to be reporting these types of things. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. >> He was charged with aggravated domestic battery. You were kidnapping by force or threat and criminal damage to property, but remains innocent until proven guilty. [Music]
