So, we're on our way to a structure fire. There's a trailer that appears to be going up and they're saying that nobody's inside, but we're going to hurry up and get there, make sure everybody's safe, get the area clear, and safe for the firefighters and get this fire put out. 10-18 arrived. Hello, Sheriff's office. Anybody inside? What's going on, man? Well, I came home to put some of our stuff back in the house and I smelled smoke and then I saw flames coming out of this corner. Uh-huh. And so, I called 911 and just started throwing water on it and hoping for the best. Nobody else is in there? No. Okay. Do you know how it started? I have no idea. Okay. Like it was supposed to be locked [laughter] up when I got here. The padlock was off of it. >> Mhm. Is that all from trying to put the fire out? [laughter] Huh? Is the black marks on your hand all that from putting the fire out? Yeah. Okay. Your recent injury? I don't know of. >> [bell] >> It was my daughter. Hello. Hello. That's That's pretty good. Go ahead and come back this way for me. Let them do their job. Yeah. I poked my head in, but I didn't see anybody. You know there's no one there. Just like Fire Fireman's here. Right there. Pop out of it. I was up in there throwing water on it. Okay. I threw water on it, but You're saying it's a possible arson? I don't think we're at. I don't think we're at. The padlock was cut off of No one got in to it. Get ready to pull a line. Okay. Just go hang out in your car, bud. Well, I was going to go hang out in my house and make sure it doesn't catch on. Uh don't don't go in there. We got to make sure it doesn't spread, so just go hang out in your vehicle. >> animals in there. They'll be fine. >> [laughter] >> If Well, we're under control. We're just concerned about you. >> [cough] [screaming] [screaming] >> Okay, there was a padlock on the door and it was gone when I got here. Okay. Somebody Did anybody have a key to it? No. Just my daughter and me. Okay. But she was moving out of her boyfriend's house and I told him he hit her. And she seems to think he came over here and cut the lock off the door. Okay. I see that your nose is running. Do you need medical attention? Did you breathe any smoke in? Oh, yeah, I breathed smoke in, yeah. Okay. I was trying to keep the flames from getting any bigger, but I didn't see them on the outside. Okay. Well, yeah, my wife wants to press charges on Kyle, whatever his name is. Okay. Do you have your ID on you, bud? Sir? Do you have your ID on you? Yeah. Hey, I got to get my ID out for a minute. Did you take the domestic on Greta? What's that dude's name? Kyle Sitler? Yep. All right. So, that's our suspect. Allegedly. Yeah. Evidence of it or I'm going to As soon as they get it all taken care of, but apparently there was a lock on it and it's been cut. So, I'm going to go verify that. Yeah, she would have said to keep it on the same case. That works. I'll just do the supplement for it. 10-1 1. Okay, that was there. Is that your cell phone, sir? Huh? Is that your cell phone? No. All right. Do you know whose cell phone that might be? No. As a matter of fact, I have no idea. I got my phone in my back pocket. Wait, what's that? I got my phone in my back pocket. Okay. All right. Let me check. But there was a padlock on here. I put it on here myself. You know, let me get out of you guys' way. Okay, guys. You have a key to the padlock? padlock Is it on? Yeah. It's still functioning. >> [laughter] >> Nothing back there, right, Cap? yellow house But just in case, let's get her to have a description of it. >> Well, yeah, yeah. I'm going to give him give him the officer's phone and tell him your phone number. Hey, this is Deputy Cunningham, Nye County Sheriff's Office, recorded line. Um what what is your boyfriend's ex-boyfriend's name? Kyle Fiddler Okay. Do you know what uh his phone looks like? It is an iPhone and it has a black Otter Box case on there. Okay, do you And uh and on the screen saver, it's a picture of me and a room. Perfect. Thank you very much. All right, I'll give you a phone back to that. All right. Thank you. Appreciate everything. >> [laughter] >> So, we've confirmed that our possible suspect left his phone here. Um we called the girlfriend ex-girlfriend and verified what the phone looks like, what the screen saver is. So, she's verified that he was at least at the scene of the crime. Um so, we're going to look forward into this and uh we're going to check and see if we got video cameras on the neighboring houses. Um but this is definitely looking like an arson. And there's no furniture. There was a desk around the corner, which is a bad piece. I suspect he stole it. He won't get off the phone, so. Let me get it clarified. The fire extended fire just went right in this area here and it looks like it's piled material. I don't get it in over gasoline immediately or anything like that. Is it? Here's our problem. So, we can call the Deputy State Fire Marshal. There's no one really associated value with this or I So, I'm not sure that they'll have a interest in. But we can certainly indicate that it's suspect in nature. We have a suspect. Go that route. You guys going to Do you know where he is? You know, we're trying to figure it out right now. >> Okay. Maybe you can pull him in for an interview. What detective do you have assigned or anything? Uh nobody yet. Do we know who this guy is? Yes. All right. We'll go up in my truck and get everything all down. A lot of previous history with him? Uh aside from the domestic tonight, I do recognize the name. All right. Let me go over and get my sheet started. I think we have as much as we can do with this right now. We got a really nice pattern right here. Right there. Got the char and got a vent pathway here. Did the cruiser say the door was open upon their arrival, Cap? Let me check with them, Chief. Thank you. It it was for me. I was the first one. >> No, this was open. >> Yeah, yeah. So, you have a nice vent pathway giving it the air it needed. And then the loss of the match right there. It's all right. When you when you arrived here, did you find that door open or closed? It was closed, but the padlock was on. >> Right. So, you left the door open? I don't did when I came outside, yeah. >> Okay. That's fine. So, when you came out and when you when you first went in, the padlock was off. You opened the door, you only smelled the fire? No, I smelled the fire outside. I thought someone was barbecuing or something Okay. >> What happened when you opened the un-padlocked door? Well, um I saw sparks over there in the corner. When you say sparks, did it did it give you an impression of like electrical sparks? No, like wood burning sparks. >> Okay. When was the last time somebody was in the trailer before your discovery of the fire? I was in the trailer 2 days ago. It's been that long? Yeah. So, why would anyone want to go in there and ignite that trailer in your mind? Because Katrice and her boyfriend were fighting and he was high on speed and drank a bottle of booze and hit her in the eye. Okay. >> called the cops on him again and he was pissed. So, you think he want Is this where she lives? Yeah. Okay. So, this is her home. This is her home, but she just moved into it. >> into it now. She's moving back because he hit her. >> moving back. So, she lived in here prior. Yeah. >> She left down in the Greta. Yeah. And is now moving back and he knows that. Yeah. Okay. And does And you said he does have a key to the lock because we can't find that padlock. He doesn't have a key to the padlock. >> you think he You think he pried it? Yeah, because >> Or pried it. I got one key here. Yes. And I got the other key in the house. >> So, where do you think the padlock is? I have no idea. I I didn't see it laying around. >> Yeah, we haven't seen it either. When was the last time you saw the padlock on the door? Cuz could she have possibly removed the padlock, kept it with her in order to move? No, she hasn't been home. Okay. See, I'm bringing I'm bringing the first car load of stuff home. >> Okay. Because she has two cats and a dog she has to bring back home, too. >> So, to the very best of your knowledge, that door was locked with a padlock prior to the fire team this evening. >> Yeah. Okay. Did you get more statements Yeah. We're going to get you to write that down for us, okay? So, we can memorialize those Okay. statements you made. Is that good? But I put my life on the line for you, sir. Huh? That cough, is that from the fire or is that from No, that's from my COPD. >> You feeling okay? I feel good, except I did get a little bit of smoke in there trying to keep the fire down. Okay. >> But you know, >> okay? >> I'm okay, you know. All righty. And uh smoked too much pot and All right. Thank you. We'll be back here. Yeah, you know, 6 But that's 50 years of abusing my lungs. Yeah. You got it. Yeah. I wish I would have listened to my dad now. Recording. Come on. Come on. Come on. [ __ ] house Come on. Please don't force me too fast. I know things are going to blow up. I'm trying really fast. >> not trying to get either of us hurt. Here, get in. We're not criminal units. Hey, move your car. >> Nope, we're not. MOVE YOUR CAR. Come on. Hey. Go down further. Maybe 20 yd past Rockway and block it off. No, this way. Go around. Yeah, go around. Go around. Yeah. There's three. Uh two two elderly and then a girl. I don't know their injuries. We had to drag one of them out of the house. But I've got two in my car and then there's one more in the car up ahead. >> Hey. What injuries do you have? I don't have any injuries. Okay. Did you inhale smoke? I inhaled a little bit. A little bit? Okay. You're fine. You're a little bit. >> her out. >> Okay, great job. My dog is in there, too. I know. We I know. Please, I don't WANT IT TO DIE. >> THE WHOLE HOUSE is engulfed. We can't go back in. Oh, the fire. It's okay. It's okay. Kim, it'll be okay, Kim. No, he's only a puppy, dear. >> It's okay. Hold on. Hold on. I can't [ __ ] BREATHE. HOLD ON. RELAX. Stop yelling. All you're doing is making it worse. No, stay here. I have to get out, okay? You can breathe. It's fine. >> I'm a diabetic and I can't and I'm really >> Hey. Hey. What's your name? What's your name? It doesn't matter my name. My house is burning down. >> I understand that. What's your name? Stop. Stop. Stop. >> Please, I need to see my house. It's burning. I know. >> It's burning. >> fire department? I called them a half hour ago. They're here. Where? I DON'T SEE THEM. >> HERE. They're right behind you. The fire engines down there. Relax. Get out. I just want to see my house, please. >> No, sit down. Please. Sit down. >> to see my house. >> No. I'm not going to go any farther than that truck right there. >> staying right here. Why? >> Because I said to. Why? Your house is burning. There are people on scene. I can't have you getting in the way and or falling down. >> just want to see it from here. >> see it out the window. >> I can't breathe in here. >> You can breathe just fine. >> No, I cannot. >> just fine. You're not going anywhere. Can you see that? So, we were dispatched for a report of a structure fire. This particular fire occurred in an area that has no hydrants in the nearby area. As we were responding we observed a large dark colored smoke column developing for the reported address. As we arrived on location we had heavy fire conditions throughout the the property consisting of multiple structures and overabundance of personal property stored about the structures. And we also had an extended ground cover fire running to the north. Our primary objective on the way was an unaccountable resident of three. So, our primary objective was rescue. As we arrived on location we were notified that that occupant had self-extricated and self-transported to our local hospital leaving us with two patients on scene. Medical was assigned. One was transported level one which means licensed irons to our local hospital while the second patient self-transported to the the same hospital. As you can see, multiple hand lines in place getting our mobile conveyances that being our water tenders supplying the primary engine. We were able to control this fire in relatively short fashion. We had a lot of additional scene hazards. We had venting propane. We had discharging ammunition. Heavy fire conditions. Heavy fire load both in and around the property. So, it created some initial challenges, but once we get set up, get the objectives which was a defensive extra which means we commit no people to the inside of the structure as the life safety issues were all accounted for. So, as you can see right now we're in a mop-up stage. The fire was placed under control approximately 10 minutes ago. Uh but we still have a lot of work ahead of us and we are thankful the sheriff's office is here to manage the pedestrian and vehicle traffic through the area. But once again, it's just a it's the nature of our area. We have a very large geographical footprint. Not probably only 40% of our area is covered by fire hydrants so we have to bring the water with us which means they come from varying areas of our response district. And uh just another busy night. >> [music] [music]
