On June 10th, Columbus police respond to a man obstructing traffic and acting aggressively toward drivers. The encounter escalates when the man brandishes a knife and advances on officers, resulting in a fatal shooting. The incident began around 11:30 p.m. when police received multiple 911 calls reporting the suspect's aggressive behavior. >> 911, what's the address of your emergency? I'm over by Turkey Creek Market. I'm a truck driver and I was at a light turning left when some kind of nutcase was out in the middle of the street and he's at the intersection up there with all cars going in all directions. Um >> Okay. So, what intersection is that? >> Uh it's by Turkey Creek Market. I don't know where I'm at. >> Market. >> It says Turkey Hill Market. >> So, what does this person look like? >> He's got brown long hair down to his shoulders. white guy, I guess. I don't know what color shirt he had on. Pair of jeans, I guess. And he's just packing the targets. >> He's just walking in the street, just standing. >> No, he's he he came to hell on my vehicle while I was in the street getting ready to take a left. What is the location of your emergency? Um, we're on climbs by like the Mount Carmel Health Center and there's a man on foot walking up to people's car banging on them. He just tried to open the door where my son was sitting. He's a Mexican man. >> Are you like climbing Georgeesville? >> Yeah. And there's like >> What color shirt pants does he have on? >> I think it was green in like khakis maybe. I'm not sure. I was hit. >> Yeah. There was like a semi in each lane with the tags on. Nobody in the car or in the semi-tra part and then like a green car pulled over in the halfway into the turkey hill. He's on foot just walking up to random people's car making threats. >> What kind of threat is he making? >> I I can't really understand him because it's like he doesn't really know much English, but like he's balling his fist up and like banging on windows talking about pull up, pull up or something. Like >> did you see a weapon? >> He asked. No, he just had his fist bullet. >> 911. What's the location of your emergency? >> Jack, the car is following. Is the guy acting crazy? >> What? What? What? What? >> I asked her the address and you started having a conversation. >> It's JFX8729 is the number. >> Columbus, please tech. >> Hey, San County. I took a knife run at the Turkey Hill there at 950 Georgeesville Road. had a male caller say that there was a male walking into the store threatening people with a knife and then disconnected. Tried to call him back and he didn't answer. >> Okay. Yeah. And I see that we had another Yeah, another person here got a 911 call as well. Uh we actually have officers on scene, but yeah, we'll let them know. Thank you. >> All right. Thank you. Bye. >> Officers are dispatched to the suspect's last known location where they follow him in his vehicle before he initially steps out. 3 fine lights on grounding the street trying to get vehicles to stop. I think 103 is going to try to get in front of him. >> He looked like he was about to try to hit him. >> Westbound on Sullivan. Still about 15 to 20 mph. I think he's kind of stuck in traffic here. Is he threatening him? Just himself. >> He's threatening. >> Well, he's he's threatening some other people. He just pulled up to another car. We're stopped in the middle of the intersection of Industrial Mile and uh Old Sullivan here. He's getting back out of the car. Hey, MONOSA. >> I'm just ahead of them. I GOT READY. >> GET [screaming] ON THE GROUND. >> HEY, HEY, HEY. TASER. TASER. TASER. >> TASER AGAIN. HEY, STOP. AS THE SUSPECT CHARGES towards officers, they open fire, striking him and causing fatal injuries. >> STOP. [screaming] STOP. STOP. CROSSFIRE.
