8-year-old's name 8-year-old then replies why do you need my name I want to ask that question dispatch replies I need your name because you called 911 ask your parents and then the 8-year-old went ahead and said okay then bye and stop communication with dispatch so we're going to see the 8-year-old is home and you know kind of just inform him on the uh the the misuse of 911 and you know why he shouldn't be texted 911 if he doesn't have an emergency and if you want you let him sit in the police car and and if he wants he can sit in the police car but only this time only this time around next time he can't ask he can't call 911 and ask if you can oh what up hey who's texed 911 there's 3690 right yeah somebody texted 9118 years old ask that could be her you know what's funny this is my yesterday uh nobody knew who he was nobody knew his name ambulance took him out and he he pretty much got life flighted out and that was really all we knew um we were still trying to GA information on him uh he is out the next day he looks banged up he looks rough um and actually there was a call for service on the board related to that gentleman that his grandma had called him in because they got into to an argument Grandma went and picked him up uh from the hospital in Vegas and there was some sort of altercation that broke out within the vehicle uh Grandma stating that this gentleman stole her phone and also struck her uh this gentleman stating that Grandma grabbed his ear so he slapped her away in self-defense doesn't have her phone so I mean we have her story we have his story this was uh definitely one of those kind of stops that turns into two different things which is crazy that I that I must say that's a first for me right there I've never had a a stop like this turn into reference to the deputy involved shooting that occurred on 11232 3 Thanksgiving Day the suspect is identified as Joshua Reese 27 years old Reese is a white male 5740 lb the ncso employee involved in the shooting is identified as sergeant Cory fows Sergeant fowls is a detective Sergeant assigned to the general assignment section Sergeant fowls has been employed with the ncso since 2007 Sergeant fows was carrying an ncso issued Glock 17 equipped with a vidiian weapon mounted camera Sergeant fows did not have a body camera during this event the facts are as follows on 11232 at approximately 4:26 p.m. a call was received by ncso Dispatch in reference to a strong arm robbery at the doties 911 where is your emergency yes um I need a police officer to show up at the Albertson's parking lot in front of doties what's going on uh I got assaulted and this guy has my credit [Music] card5 on it already and he wants me to pay somebody else's electric bill okay sir hold on I need you to answer my question you said you were assaulted yes like physically yes am not kidding you oh now he's upset okay give me my card just yeah you got my card so got the card grab the groceries walk away sir do you know who this person is Joshua ree okay where is he at now he's in my car in front of does at the Albertson parking lot kind of vehicle it's a green 96 Lincoln Town Car okay and if he returns my credit card and my cash and takes the groceries and walks way I will pay the $55 he spent on my card but he is trying to get me to pay an electric bill I'm not going to pay okay but you he physically assaulted you so yes he did okay so um how did he do that uh he swung something and cloged me in the head and gave me a lump a oh he's a anyway sir I need you to separate yourself from him yeah okay okay give me one second thank you I see him arriving okay you see my Deputy yes I do okay bye-bye at approximately 4:28 p.m. Sergeant fouls arrived and made contact with the caller and the reported suspect Joshua Reese who was rumaging through the victim's vehicle Sergeant fows gave the suspect commands to show his hands and stop what he was doing the suspect immediately ran West toward the rear of does and Sergeant fouls pursued on foot recording what's up how are you where' this guy go the cop chased him down here he'll be back with him he look [Applause] back 7 six somebody twos aute with the suspect I know they're heading west on the Alberton Sergeant FS chased the suspect into the desert area west of Dalia into the sandunes sergeant fows found the suspect sitting in a sand dune and ordered him to lay face down effectively placing him under arrest to which the suspect refused roll over turn the over now talk like a person to me roll over Stu day roll over stop you stop Sergeant FS attempted to take the suspect into custody and to fight ensued what you are seeing now is the suspect attempting to pull Sergeant F's gun from his holster and Sergeant fouls fighting to keep it in the holster the suspect was able to get Sergeant F's handgun out of the holster and was holding it with both hands on the gun's grip Sergeant fowls immediately pushed the firearm Barrel into the sand over the suspect's head what you the suspect was able to gain control and rotates the gun toward Sergeant F's face during the struggle Sergeant fowls with was able to remove the magazine from the gun but there was still a live round in the chamber Sergeant fows was eventually able to gain control of the gun and reinserted the magazine into the gun and the suspect began fighting over the gun again what you are seeing now is Sergeant fows attempting to keep the gun from the suspect's reach by holding it extend ended in the air the suspect grabbed Sergeant F's generals with one hand and squeezed pulled and twisted and with the other hand he grabbed and pulled down Sergeant fow's arm that was holding the gun while in the midst of the fighting with the suspect for control over the gun Sergeant fows fired one round from his handgun striking the suspect in the upper left chest area due to Sergeant fouls not having a radio he shout shouted for help and walked toward responding Personnel night3 I eyes on F where's he at I shot him shot him take my gun night3 Sam two shot the person stage Medics were in the uh old minion area on the near uh he tried to take my gun he tried to kill me okay does he have the gun now no I have it he didn't cuz I shot him okay he's over here okay get in my car get in my car I'm sorry man no you're good you're good you're good he's over here face of the Hill okay ni try he took my gun okay you're good you're good we fought over trying to kill where's he at he's are to the left to the left left I know I got I got to get he's over there okay get medical over here to uh B West and direct Cory check in the back of my vehicle for a medic bag okay B in the dunes H yeah where' you loser man 93 I'm out with the person I need Medics immediately the suspect was transported to Desert View Hospital and was later pronounced deceased at 5:43 p.m. as a result of the gunshot wound Sergeant fows was also transported to Desert View and was later transferred to a hospital in Las Vegas for treatment of minor injuries and for observation eyewitnesses were located and provided testimony that matches Sergeant fow's testimony it was John that's who it was it was John yep he TR to keep the G then the gun was up in the air I seen it and I said it's a gun who did you who did you see like hold all right guy I think it was I thought it was a white shirt but he said it was tan or whatever but they was wrestling in first he got on top and he was trying to hold his gun up in the air and the guy was grabbing his arm pulling it down and then and we gra her we if the suspect had survived he would have been charged with robbery kidnapping Grand Larson the auto fraudulent use of a credit card resisting a police officer attempted Grand larsy of a firearm and attempted murder this case will be presented to the NY County District Attorney's office for review Sergeant fows has been placed on administrative leave with pay according to policy and will return
