On August 23rd, 2024, police were dispatched to a Target store in Orlando after reports that an employee had been illegally marking down merchandise and taking gift cards without authorization over multiple incidents. the person. He admitted to it and then on the 14th of this month, scanned himself a gift card and put cash payment in. >> Let me just stop you there one second. So this about a month ago, there was some activity that happened here stuff down, >> seeing it on video, >> saying kids, got it on video, all that stuff. You talked to him at that point about it. Uh, were any charges? Did you press any charges at that time? >> No. So the the stuff that we talked to him about, we're talking all to him right now about everything that occurred. Um reason is cuz we didn't know it was a trend cuz usually like I said you have a a one guess it's random right. So when we reviewed video and kind of kept tabs on them he had it three separate occasions same kids some wearing same clothes doing unauuthorized markdowns pretty much like said half off. So you know >> and these are and these are um customers coming in friends of his whatever he's doing all >> he admitted that they were friends of his that he was pretty much hooking them up. Okay. >> And then also the 14th of this month uh most recently he scanned himself $100 Target Visa gift card on the register. When you put cash you have to put cash in the register. If not, he'll pretty much just charge Target for it. So, he pretty much charged Target for it >> and then put it in a bag and sealed his pocket and walked out. So, >> when we uh were in the office with him, um we pretty much talking to he still had the mission statement. He pretty much admitted to everything that he's been marking down stuff for for his friends since beginning of this year and it's probably close to like two grand. >> Um sorry, I'm just supporting a case so this is >> not mine. Um this was Markdowns at the register. So it was friends of his that came through um for Legos, video game accessories, and for the most part everything was about 50% markdown uh for unauthorized press overrides. Um so there was three backto-back transactions on this occasion. So that's the first transaction. Second one here is for like a digital storage device. Uh the other one was for like a computer gaming accessory for video gaming accessory. >> Was he running the register? Yeah, he was maning the register. >> And who was the customer? >> Um, so on all of these occasions it was three males. I'm not familiar with them. Like you you were cutting them a break and then they were paying you off or >> No, I didn't do this anymore and all of my >> Then why you did? >> Then why you did that? >> Well, I good friendship, but I I didn't get I didn't get a single I didn't get a single thing back from doing all that. >> So, you are willing? Yes, basically >> to take a charge for a good friendship, man. >> No, I I understand that. It just like blows my mind that you're willing to do that, go to jail for a friend. I mean, I want you as my friend, dude. So, out of all this, you kept $100 for yourself. Do >> you still have that gift card or you already use it? >> Um, my family has it. What it's on the paper is the three semi- individuals in three separate transactions on July 26, August 2nd and August the 8th. That's the three transactions that they have.
