On April 4th, 2023, the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Police Department was called to the scene at the local Amazon warehouse for a call for service regarding possible employee theft. The following shows the body worn camera footage of what happened during the incident. >> Good evening. How are you doing tonight? >> Is that where he's at? Yeah. >> Okay. >> What is he done with it? Where did he sell it? Does he know who he sold it to? >> Good evening. How you doing? >> Good. Anthony, >> Chris, how you? >> Nice to meet you, Anthony. I appreciate you guys coming. So, I started this investigation on the 29th. I haven't caught up to I started this investigation on the 29th. I haven't caught up to everything. We have video of everything we said. >> Okay. >> Uh right now 38,000. He's admitted to 65. He's thinking about 23,000 worth of stuff every shift. He's been doing that the last 10 days. >> Is it all like electronics or anything? So, is it is it a lot of property or just expensive property? >> Phones. >> Okay. um Apple watches. >> Gotcha. >> Uh a lot of them like he admitted to 40 or whatever on the Pixels, but uh we're probably looking around the ballpark of 100,000 kilometers. >> Mhm. >> Um he doesn't want to admit to it. Some other concerns I had was I think he might be have a team. Um this is very odd for someone to come here 12 days and still have much. >> Yeah. >> Um he didn't want to talk about he just came from Chicago. He didn't want to talk about his past career >> uh at Walmart doing LP. He's given me a story that someone's forcing him into doing all this, but he doesn't know the names. He knows description of them. He doesn't know. He knows the drop off location here. I've never taken anything out of the building to Yeah, I was told to. I said meeting up with him or I don't know. >> Mhm. >> It's just not adding up. >> Is he a picker or do you a picker? >> So you think right. Do you have >> his make sure we get his information? Um, so 35,000 Garrett like three guys 38 but up to 100. >> Yeah, he's admitting to 65 and he's kind of he's not giving me a statement as far as identification >> and um I have a feeling it's at his house and I don't want him to come to his house and get rid of it. I don't know if you guys are able to get search warrants and go over there probably. >> Well, so because right now we're kind of looking at a felony. So more than likely he's going to be coming with us. He's not going to be going to this house. Yeah, >> it's we're going to contact our detectives and our C right now, kind of see the way they want us to go because we're looking at like a m a major theft here. So, >> yeah, I just I'm just I don't want calling and letting anyone know, hey, clean the house up. >> Yeah, >> it's an organized retail group and that's going to be really uh preserving evidence wherever his house is important. >> Do you happen to have your driver's license on you right now? >> Yeah. Yeah. Just connect to the Amazon guest and then you got to check your slack. Charlie may have sent you a slack. >> What's going on? >> Okay. Probably sent it to um Are you the senior leader tonight? So, uh there's a gentleman that is a CEO employee that is taking a bath. >> There's no sir. We want to go outside and give him a call. Just let him know. We'll probably we might wait for >> you. Okay. >> Yeah. Go ahead. >> Okay. They only work >> a picker. So they come and they they put the >> they take the items that are going to be shipped and put them out to go be delivered and stuff like that. So they're handling a lot of items. I I um you know Charlie from ahead to reach out to you. >> Yes, this is a >> it's a it's a big one. >> I I've got 10 grand before but not this much count and he though he's saying 65. Um >> what was his date of employment? You said he's seasonal. >> March 12th. >> So this is all within like a month. >> 10 days. >> 10 working days. >> 10 working days. >> Um today would have been 11. And every day I've only been able to do a day and half a day. >> And then we have another day that we haven't accounted for. The day and half is 38,000. >> Uhhuh. >> And every rental he's going in there is about 15 to 23,000 that he's taken. >> Has he worked at all today out on the floor? >> No. We we've done that before. This is too much. Like that's a that's [ __ ] You get off a clock. an on call because it's after hours. There's an on call detective. Um we have detectives that are assigned to theft cases and stuff like that. Uh I don't think the on call detective is currently one of the the ones assigned to the theft, but he'll be able to kind of give guidelines and like what they want us to do. Um >> yeah, cuz I mean >> if you want to go out there, we can. >> Okay. >> So that way you can hear what Chavez says. >> Usually I have all this stuff done. Yeah, the guy was I mean you're talking 15 grand a [ __ ] >> Yeah, >> we could we couldn't wait. >> Have you been able to itemize anything? >> Yeah, 38,000. That's for sure. >> Um as numbers, prices. >> Mhm. >> Um but there's just so a lot more in so many different ships. So just looking at video takes time. >> And so you think he's part of a ring? Does he did he anybody else get hired around the same time? Anything like that? >> No, he's just the story is very >> fictitious. Well, and I want to say it's this isn't my district, so I haven't really had I used to have thefts down here and there was a ring kind of going around like last year around this time, I think. >> Well, I mean, just some red flags like you know, story's not adding up. Said he just moved from Chicago. >> Um, he says he has experience in lost prevention security, but he doesn't have any. >> Mhm. >> Um, so just kind of like, all right, well, you know, you said you weren't taking it out of the building where you are. >> Yeah. you know, contradicting your statement. Was it at your house? And it was just like, you don't want to talk about that. Like, well, how are you how are you selling? You didn't want to talk about that. All right. Well, I think you need to respect your time. Is it the newer Durango that's down there? >> Yeah. >> Sticking out. >> Yeah. >> So, this is his white Durango down here. I'm just going to go at it and kind of look inside. See if I can see anything. Okay. >> So, I just want to make sure I got It's that white Dodge Durango that just passed that Tacoma. >> No, no license plate. >> Yeah, it's it's super dark. I can't even see inside of it. >> Job is to just handle it like you would. So, >> okay. Do you guys want to go in there and try to interview him and get him to admit of taking a lease that felony level? >> Yeah, >> that's fine. >> Yeah. >> Have him do a statement if you want. We'll go right now. >> He was like um do what you need to do if you admit to it. Take them in or talk to them in the morning. It would just be the two. >> Yeah. >> So, I don't want It'll just be the >> Yeah. scare. >> So, just try to if you're going to be talking to him, just try to keep calm and, you know, stuff like that. We're not trying to work him up. Hey, like, you know, just like he said, ask him what's going on. How long has he worked here? Um, hey, has he taken anything? If he admits to that, how much has he taken? >> No, no, you can. Hey, George. >> Um, yeah, just trying to write more details. >> So, George, this is Officer Hart. Um, she'd like to talk to you. >> You said you needed to use the restroom. >> Yeah. >> Are you still needing to do that now? >> Um, yeah. >> Okay. Is it all right? >> How quick we thinking? >> I'm just going to do number two like as fast as I can. >> Okay. Do you think we could kind of get through this first cuz just for us, you know, we don't want to lose sight of you or anything like that. I'm not trying to intrude on you while you're using the restroom, right? >> No, cuz I have to read. >> Okay. Do you think we can get through this? >> Okay. >> All right, Charlie. Would you mind if we have the >> Yes, absolutely. >> Squeeze in here. >> You can sit down if you want. >> This is my partner, Marissa. >> You can wait. Wait, wait. You can sit here. >> All right. You want to tell me what's going on, George? >> I mean, I believe there's like some kind of audio or something cuz I can't repeat like like everything I said. It was like a lot of details, a lot of stuff. >> It's okay. You could take your time and let me know what's going on. >> I mean, not really because I have to use the bathroom. Like I can't say everything you just said, but but like I was like a while ago. So I had this interaction with this group of people, right? And not to be racist, but just a group of black um males. >> Okay. >> It was probably like like one like five like like six of them I believe. >> Six of them. But I had interaction just with one of them and they won't call the other one like like hey come over here and just because we bumped each other I mean because I ran because I bumped into this car but but not that hard and it was just an accident. >> Where did that happen? >> Probably like around like near the bathroom like all the way in the final bathroom that's on I don't know like on the B area or C. >> Okay. It happened here on this part. >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. >> Yes. Okay. But like the personality like walking around even though like in their W I mean um at the job place like with their pants you know all the way down and stuff trying to be like more expressive towards others. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. So that's what happened. Um also just because of that um accident we have like not even like a like not even like a small church like just cuz that happened. Yeah. Um um so he got mad and I said sorry and he was like oh you have to do this if not right we don't want more beef right we just do this >> do you remember exactly what they might have said >> that's what they said >> when you say >> do this >> do this do that what do you mean by that like what do you mean when you >> I just said put shorts I'm like yeah >> what do they tell you what are they telling you to get this just that I'm like What's the good stuff? Yeah. >> Get the good stuff. >> Get the good stuff. But did when they said that, did you know what that meant? >> Or did you ask them what do you mean get the good stuff? >> I mean, yeah, of course I did ask them like what's that, >> right? Of course. I'm not going to be like confused like like what's that? Right. >> Mhm. >> But then like, oh, they're like, you know, >> the the valuable stuff. That's what they said. >> The valuable stuff. we say, you know, how to rep I mean um on how to correctly pronounce that course like those people that don't even have education like just you know um like um how to speak with you know like with co-workers or with other people. >> Mhm. >> Instead of like talking like at a at a certain I mean you don't speak Spanish, right? Cuz I >> No, I don't speak Spanish. >> I mean Okay. Some words Yeah. Cuz I get confused cuz I feel I speak three languages. That's right. So I get kind of confused. Um but they don't know. I mean, but some they don't pronounce like well like some words were. So that's why um um I'm just at 10:45. No, 9:45. Yeah, 9:45. >> So it would have been like at 10:30 like >> around 10:30. >> Yeah, cuz that's when people are like not really working. Yeah. They're just slacking around. >> Okay. And you were going to the restroom and you go into >> that was Yes. >> Okay. So they told you to get the good stuff and then walk me from there. What happened? >> What do you mean? >> So after they told you get the stuff, what did did they threaten you? Did they >> What did they say? >> That was the first thing they said. >> What did they say when they threaten you? >> Like do it. I'm like I'm like why would I? >> Okay. Right. If I'm working doing what they saying, especially like at a work set. >> Yeah. like we don't want no beefy side which means like no problems right or right. >> Mhm. >> Do it. All right. >> So what did they say to you whenever and >> they just said grab any but good stuff. That's why they said >> so just grab any grab any good stuff. Okay. They never told you like say grab an iPad or >> No. >> Okay. Okay. I mean I mean because we all know um like what's um supposedly saying that kind of um term right like like what would you compare like this right like to let's say like this phone right here right which is good with a phone instead of just like paper with this thing right >> have they just met >> since the day of the accident has have you seen these gentlemen at all since then >> yesterday I had um I mean not really an interaction but we did like like face to face >> and yeah it was like really close. >> Okay. And there is >> and it was just eye contact. >> Mhm. Did you happen to know his name? Anything like that? >> And that was at the same area like around here. >> So over by the bathroom in the C or B area. >> So supposedly where um they they called it the the CRV some type of area. >> Uhhuh. >> I was like right around here like in front like we're supposed to order value item and that's what >> Okay. So for the the valuable items whenever you get the good stuff for the valuable items is there an exchange do you hand them to these guys so that way they don't harm you or >> that has happened mostly um when I just take them like like at a certain place or like the course they ask like um I mean you guys asked them like like where right >> like where should I like put them in like should I put them in the toe? >> Mhm. And they're like, "Oh, no. We just come right there like where the yellow area is like right there like around that area." Like just come right there at the at the start or at the end of the aisles. I'm like I guess people like like don't even um specify theel like like put them in that toe right there, right? Like >> like at that place right there. No, they don't even care like what like what they're even saying. So you >> an interaction outside in the workplace I guess what you just said the second one. Yeah he had that too. >> So you >> which of course I didn't want to um um tell Anthony about right because I yeah cuz Alex I'm more um towards myself right um I'm more more bad right? >> Yeah. >> Of course like if I'm doing Yeah. What's all this happening? But >> do you um I I can tell you're a little nervous and worked up. Do you want to take a breath? You want something to drink? I can see you got your water right here. You want you want to have a drink? >> I know. I don't have my medication. That's fine. I just >> Uhuh. If If you need a drink at any point while we're talking, that's fine. Sometime I feel, you know, like like um >> That's fine. That's fine. You know, we can work through that. Um if you need to take a drink at any point while we're talking, feel free to. Okay. >> No, I just have the nervous system like that. >> Yeah. Yeah. I >> like really bad. >> I understand. I understand. Um, we just got to kind of get as much information as we can for our investigation. Okay. Um, so when they told you to get the good stuff and they told you you said they told you to put it in the totes at at the end of the aisles >> or the beginning um bins >> or the bins at the the beginning or end of the >> Okay. At any point what what items were these? I mean just um just supposedly like the good stuff which they just mentioned like like >> can you tell me like what some of the good stuff is? >> Any random stuff that looks good? >> Can you give me some examples of things that they that they asked for that you might have put in that bin? >> I mean what do you mean by like >> like what kind of stuff did you um did they tell you to take or what they said like get the good stuff. What did you do? Do you know what items you took? >> I mean, yeah, phones. >> What kind of phones? Like iPhones, Samsung's? >> Um, I do remember some white boxes which were like our Google ones. >> Okay. >> Okay. Google phones. >> Mini >> and then Samsung, but but I believe I know Apple because I know. >> Okay. Do you know how many phones total could it be? like in total I mean it was like more than more than 30 of the wag ones which was the Google and then probably like like 20 like more than 20 of the >> more than black cases which for Samsung I believe >> so you would say total of 25 phones >> 30 30 Google and then 20 Samsung >> and you said more than 30 Google and more than 20 Samsung >> like like way more than 50 like 55 50 something around there >> okay do you know what the approximate Cost of a Google phone, one of those Google phones is by itself. >> Okay. What how much do you know off handhand? >> About more than 500 bucks plus taxes. >> I'm sorry. How much? >> More than 500 bucks. >> 500. >> Yeah. With taxes. Yeah. Like six >> 500 to 600. Okay. What about the Samsung's? >> Um those will cost like 200 more than the than the >> So we're looking 700 to 900. >> Yes. Or >> Yeah. 700 to 800. What other stuff would you say besides phones? >> What other stuff besides phones? >> Um, I just remember about those. >> So, it was just phones, nothing else. >> I mean, when they said like the goods, right? So, be um randomly looking at I mean, they said any good stuff. I'm like, what kind? Like just get any random but good stuff? Like obviously mad. I'm like, >> "Yeah." >> Yeah. With the ads and I'm like, even though like five times? Yes. >> Five times. How how many phones? >> I mean, like um five times like like 15 20. >> So 15 15 or 20 phones left the building with you. >> 15. Yes. >> Okay. And that's over five times or each? >> No. No. Five times. And it's like 15 through 20. >> 15 through 20. So, five different working days. I'm just trying to clarify. So, five different working days, you took some of the phones with you to your vehicle and left the area. And that totaled approximately 15 to 20 of those phones. >> Okay. Okay. >> And where would you take these phones? >> I mean, that's what um I didn't get her name right, but I mean but yeah. Um but um but um but her and Anthony um were saying um of course like where would I even do that? And at the parking lot I mean of course those people won't say like oh just let them to me like right there or or I'll go to your car. I mean I mean they're not dumb enough like to use someone and then actually doing everything correct when they are I mean they're using me and probably more people. How do I know too? >> So where would you take these phones? Did you take these phones when you when you said that >> um driving the stops? Um I'm 100 um um how did you say that? Um but yeah, but so of course you know which car I drive. Um so we leave right? I mean I mean yeah um so as I mean at 443 so it's when everybody leaves um leaves where and you see my car and wait for Max or something like that. >> Mhm. And so, uh, you know, when did they tell you like, hey, after you get these items into your vehicle, you know, >> did they give you the instructions on like, hey, >> when we flash our lights at you, pull over? >> That was at that the first impression when I just pulled >> that first interaction. >> Yeah, of course. Cuz that's where it started. It was probably >> So, how long was your conversation with them on your first that the first time you guys interacted whenever you bumped into him? >> Not even long. I mean I mean cuz we're um working. >> Mhm. So what' you say like a 5 minute conversation? >> No, like like two and a half and half. >> Okay. Um >> time passes. I mean fast when you're working, but when you're just talking with someone or >> and you never got any of their names, anything like that. Okay. >> No, it's a group of people that always together. And so whenever they you guys pulled over on the side of the road, did they ever leave you with any of the phones or did you ever sell any of the phones on like Facebook or take them to a pawn shop, anything like that? You always did you always transition them to them? All of them in general, all the items. >> I mean, it was only five times. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So >> like 20. Yeah. 15 through 20 phones. 15 to >> I took out of this Yeah. this location which they took but the other ones and they must have took more of just the store around the area. >> Okay. So 15 to 20 phones. So what about what about the other like 30 approximately what about the approximately like the other 30 phones that you >> um most of them would probably still be in that area and the other they might actually or or or they just might be using a different person that's working. They just got that interaction with me and just you know like I mean all my matter just for one forms. >> So I just kind of want to make sure that we have everything kind of correct and you you correct me if I'm wrong. Okay. So on the date of your on your hire date the first time you worked here you went down to the bathroom around lunchtime and you accidentally bumped into one of these guys. >> That was like the second day of the work which was like the third day working. >> So okay. So >> like a Tuesday I think. So, the third day you were working here, you went down to the bathroom on your lunch break and accidentally bumped into a gentleman. Okay. He he said, "Hey, you know, do this for me or else we're going to have beef. You know, I'm going to do this." And he told you to take some phones and put them down at the end of the aisle. Okay. And it was always strictly phones. Okay. >> I mean I mean just get the good stuff. And that's what they >> Yeah. Get the good stuff. But they kind of elaborated the phones or did they did you just >> cuz I asked right um like what's the good side? What is that? >> And they specifically said the Google and Samsung phones or >> get phones and that >> get just get phones. >> Get phones. >> Okay. >> Or other good stuff but get phones. That's what you said. >> Okay. So they said or other good stuff. Okay. Did they ever clarify on what or other good stuff was? Okay. Did you ever take any other good stuff or any other valuables? anything like that. Um, and so over the course of your employment here, you approximately had 30 Google phones and 20 Samsung phones that you relocated to the ends of the the ends of the bins or the bins at the ends of the aisles, right? >> And out of those 15 to 20 Yeah. And out of and out of those approximate 50 or because you said greater than um within five times of you working here uh about 15 to 20 of them you took to your vehicle and then transitioned them to these gentlemen somewhere that's not at this facility. Correct. Okay. And they were driving a blue Mercury or Ultmobile. An older an older style vehicle. What do you drive? >> Like a drive a white Durango. >> A white Durango. Do you happen to know your license plate or anything like that? >> I mean, no, I just No. >> Okay. >> No, my old license plate um with my I just got the car >> about like two weeks ago cuz I had a different vehicle. >> Mhm. Can we confirm the the value of those Samsung or Google phones? >> So, the Samsung's are $12.99. >> $12.99. >> The Google's are $9.99. Do you mind running him? So, he's admitted to over 30. What he's saying is over 30 Google phones which are valued at $9.99 and then um over 20 Samsung phones that are valued at 1300. He has relocated from where they were to the ends of the aisles for other people to grab. He's admitted to five times to taking 15 to 20 phones to his vehicle over >> there in there right now. >> No, I don't know if they're still in his vehicle cuz what he's saying is he'll he left here and then the guys that work here that are forcing him to do this, they'll flash their lights at them honk their horn. He pull pulls over on the sides of the road, they do the transaction there. >> Or at here on the airport. >> He said here on the airport. Um, so we at least have the 15 to 20 files. >> You guys have to fill out. >> Yeah, he's filling out one of the mistakes right now. >> He's talking to you all. >> He's not He's only to the two types of phones. I know they said Apple watches and stuff like that. If you want Mhm. >> Okay, George. Uh, go ahead and stand up for me. >> Place the wall. You can put your stuff, whatever items you have. If you want to remove them, go ahead and put them in your bag. >> Your wallet, your phone. If you have any jewelry, necklaces, anything you have, put them in your bag, please. You don't have No, take everything out and put it in your bag. >> You don't have any weapons or anything else at home, do you? Okay. >> So, you're going to be going with us today? >> Oh, can I take one of these from our We're taking your belongings with you. You want to take your hat off? >> Oh, it's okay. We're okay. Just do me do me a favor. Go ahead and place your hands behind your back. Okay. >> Hands behind your back. >> So, right now, you're being placed under arrest for the theft. Okay. Is this yours or is this theirs? >> We can take that. >> You're going to be coming with us. >> Anything else we need while we're >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you guys. >> Big help. >> Do you have >> Yes. Yes. I gave it to offic. >> You got all their stuff? >> Yes. You all have a good night. Get back. Stand right here for me and look straight up. Come on back here for me. Just keep going past that past that door. Go ahead and jump in and slide in. Okay. So, >> it it's I know it's uncomfortable, man. It's only going to be about a minute >> or so.
