Passenger, do you have any ID, sir? >> Passenger, do you have any ID? >> I'm not required to answer your questions. I'm not required to produce ID, nor answer your questions. >> You can shut the hell up. Mind your own business about who I am. Hey, here's my ID. >> I think there you can appear. >> I want your business card and I want the other guy in the >> Have any business cards to hand out? >> I found my ID for you. >> Anything else? >> Don't be a dick. >> All right. Have a good day. >> Being a dick. Give this ID to the other guy. >> This encounter started when an APD officer pulled them over, but things quickly went sideways when officer demanded his ID. He refused, making it clear that he wasn't the driver, wasn't being stopped for a traffic violation, and wasn't required to identify himself simply because the officer demanded it. The officers kept pushing, but this passenger wasn't giving them an inch. Watch how a routine traffic stop turns into a heated confrontation over ID, reasonable suspicion, and an officer's attempt to force a passenger to identify himself. Okay, so that's EPD. Stay. He keeps looking over. He knows we're here. He's pulling away. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think the spirit of the turn signal law is to warn others prior to changing lanes that you are going to do so in the future, not that you were already doing so, which they can obviously see unless they're dumb as this cop. Show him how to do the speed limit. >> Yeah, he needs some help doing that. See how close he's riding? He's the same kind of that would stop you for riding that close on somebody. >> Yep. >> But I tell you, make sure we get him. lined up. >> Afternoon. >> Afternoon. I'm here to retaliate to satisfy my need for authoritar because I'm an insecure, internally deficient tyrant piece of >> You have your license registration, sir? >> For what? >> Well, for multiple reasons. You have your license and registration, sir. >> Are you on duty? >> What's that? >> Are you on duty? >> Yes, sir, I am. >> All right. So, you think >> I have your license registration, please? Can you get your sergeant here? >> What's that? >> Can you get your sergeant here? >> I've got one coming. Can I have license and registration, please? >> For what? For what reason? >> License and registration. >> For what reason? >> License and registration because I'm conducting a traffic stop. License and registration, please. >> Truck stop for what? >> Name your license, please. >> Traffic stop for what? >> Let me have your license, please, and I'll explain everything. It's what he didn't say that spoke the loudest and his voiceless words kept screaming, quote, "I'm a piece of but you didn't get to record my other head acts of my career." End quote. Moving on. >> If you're going to pulled over on a traffic stop, yes, you know, officer ask you for ID, you have to provide identification. >> It wasn't my vehicle. I wasn't driving and he is his own person. There's several things I probably would have done slightly differently, but it was his traffic stop. Moving on. >> I know, but what am I being stopped for? >> I'll explain everything in a second. Maybe your ID, please. Do you have a registration insurance for the vehicle? Passenger, do you have any ID, sir? >> Passenger, do you have any ID? >> I'm not required to answer your questions. I'm not required to produce ID, nor answer your questions. >> You can shut the hell up. Mind your own business by who I am. >> Do you have your ID, sir? >> I'm not required to give you ID, sir. >> Yes, you are. >> No, I am not. This is not a stop in ID state, and I'm not the driver. You're incorrect. >> All right. >> What's your name and badge number, sir? >> Officer Taylor 1396. You need to you need to get a refresher course in the laws. >> See him nod his head in agreement, though sarcastically, as he realizes his badge isn't quite as intimidating as the fellow tyrants at the tyrant convention convinced him it was when they handed him out. Let's watch lady agree one more time. You need to get a refresher course in the laws. See, if I was driving, that's one thing. I'm not driving. And this ain't a stop and ID state. And even if it was, you need reasonable or takeable suspicion that I've done something. Ooh, if looks could kill. Press one if you think he's thinking about shooting me. Press two if you think he's about to cry. Press three if you think he'll ask his fellow gang members for a reassuring hug after the stop. Press four if you think he's trying to articulate cause to violate my rights, force me to remove my N95 mask, and produce ID. Moving on. Go get schooled somewhere, sir. Another tyrant with a badge, obviously. Well, number one, he was flying up the road going well above the speed limit. [clears throat] Obviously, not on a car. He wouldn't have stopped us. Number two, he was switching lanes without using his turn signal. And number three, he was uh trying to request ID from me, which is not going to happen. So, we're going to have another one coming that was just here. >> Yeah. Well, that one is a different one then. Is he coming up? >> No, they're all back there. >> Okay. >> I need your card. >> There's your information. >> I need your card. >> Uh, no. I be >> And I need their two as well. >> You need their what? >> I need their ID cards, their >> They can give you their information. I'm talking to you right now as a sergeant. What? Do you want to speak with me as a sergeant? >> Yeah. I want to know why I'm being stopped. >> Uh, yeah. The officer will tell you that. Okay. >> You're the sergeant? >> Yes, I'm the sergeant. >> Can I get your name and badge number? >> It's right there. >> Oh, look. Another EPD sergeant that couldn't lead a line of ants to a bowl of However, you drove my point home for me. I've always said once some idiots get rank, whether in the military or policing or any other profession really. A lot of them tend to forget where they came from andor the tendencies to be oxygen wasting pieces of better off is allowed to grow exponentially and daily. Also, how absolutely dumb as a box of rocks do you have to be to place pens in your pocket blocking your own name tag, then point at it while looking at it and say, "It's right there." You're one special kind of worthless stupid and the kind to smear good officer's reputation. If you wonder why so many in this country would celebrate officers injuries andor just find the nearest mirror, invite Taint Taylor over and you two can spend the day trying to figure out which one of you is more deserving of what idiots like you earn. the hate. Throw in some honorless tyrant and you three can have a three-way circle. Moving along. >> You can't say it. >> Judge what? >> I can't read it. >> I'm talking to him right now. >> I can't read it. Your pins are in front of me. >> Watch your attitude. What's your >> another tyrant? Is that how you >> My name is Sergeant Cormalink. >> Thank you. >> 5155. >> It's simple professionalism. It's not that hard. >> Okay. I'm talking to one person at a time, sir. >> I understand. >> Is there anything else you want to speak to me about? He can tell you all everything about that about the car stop. You want to speak to me about anything else? >> I'd like to speak to you. I just want to know why I'm being stopped. >> I don't know if it was speedy. I don't know what it was. Did he tell you anything? >> No, he said he he doesn't know yet. >> Okay. Okay. Well, he'll talk to you about all that. Okay. Anything else with me? >> Yeah. Well, depend on what happens with him. >> Do what? >> Depends on what he says. >> Okay. >> That's that's it right now. >> Yeah. But I would hang tight in case it depends on what he says. >> All right. All right. You find your registration or police proof of sale and your insurance. Can I see it, please? Thank you. Let me see your ID again. Sergeant gave it back. Didn't realize I wasn't done with it. >> You had you stopped that proof of insurance, sir. >> I have it on my phone. >> Okay. Can I see it, please? >> Why did you stop me? >> What's that? >> Why did you stop me? >> I'll discuss that in a second. We can find the insurance, please. >> So, you're fishing. >> What's that? >> So, you're fishing? >> No, I'm [clears throat] not fishing. >> Who's your entrance through? American Family Insurance. Okay. The same on my plate. >> Okay. It's not on your plate, sir. If you if you'll do me a favor, please pull up your insurance. >> I got to update the app real quick. >> What's that? >> I'm updating my app real quick. >> Okay. This way. >> And I know it it's tied in with my registration on the plate. >> In the state of Indiana, you're required to to provide proof of financial responsibility either by paper or by phone. If you can't do that, then that's a a separate issue we can address. If you have it, that's great. Okay, work on getting that for me again. >> Over here to get your insurance. May I see it, please? >> You can look at it right here. >> Disconnect your phone so I can look at it. I got to make sure the policies right and everything. >> I'll zoom in for it. >> That would be wonderful. Thank you. >> Okay. Do me a favor. I'm not going to take your phone. Hand it out. I'm not going to reach inside your vehicle. >> It's right here. No, I don't know what you can look at. >> Police officer. Officer Hassel. The sergeant's here. >> Ooh. Did you hear that, everyone? He's a police officer. Well, that just means tyrannical today, doesn't it? You should have just said, "Sir, I'm an piece of rights violating." I'd have felt safer and you'd at least be making a truthful statement. Oh, and telling us you have two more of your kind standing behind us is just the icing on the cake. But it doesn't help your claim. We should feel more secure. Shut the up. >> Hand the phone out, please, so I can look at it. Thank you. >> You're not going through my phone. >> Disconnect it, please. That way I can >> It's right here. You can read it and write it down. That doesn't happen when the policy expire. Yes, it did. I'm sorry. >> 610 of 20. Okay. It's not that hard. Okay. The reason I stopped you is because you came to a sudden stop up on the highway. I was checking to see who you were. >> Okay. And you came to a sudden stop on the highway. Okay. >> We got you countless times. I illegal lane changes speeding. >> Well, you didn't you didn't make proper lane changes, but I was checking to see if you >> Did you hear him say I was checking to see if you're okay? Let's hear it one more time. >> But I was checking to see if you >> That's a funny joke. I've got one, too. You're an honorable, trustworthy officer. >> Turn signal every time. What's that? >> Use my turn signal every time. Well, >> it doesn't We got a video. We got a video. >> Just sit tight. Let me finish your ticket and then I'll be right up. >> We got a video of his lack of signals. We got a video of his speed. >> Let him Let him do it. Just Just let him do it. >> So, there's your license, the paperwork, there's your citation for obstruction, justice, and speed. >> Here we go. Obstruction of justice. First off, I doubt you can even spell justice, you much less hand it out. Two, uh I believe you cited for obstructing traffic, not obstruction of justice. However, I'm sure you have used that catchall phrase as well as disorderly conduct when you couldn't find a lawful and valid reason to actually arrest someone you wanted to prove your authoritar to. By the way, when was it you decided we were speeding? Was it when you were doing an estimated 90 mph down the interstate, switching lanes without using your turn signal? Also, at what point was the driver obstructing anything or anyone? Was it when you were almost violently cramming your brakes beside us? You truly are one dumb sack of two brain cellailed amphibious. You know what? Go slap your parents for not aborting you as a then and shut the up. You Larry the cable guy lookalike wannabe. You're not funny. You're just stupid. >> Have a better day, sir. >> Hey, here's my ID. >> I need your uh business carded. You can appear in >> I want your business card and I want the other guy in the sergeant. I don't >> have any business cards to hand out. >> I found my ID for you. >> I need your business card. I don't have a business card. >> You don't have any personal identification that you hand out? >> No. I'm on video right now. I'm on video and my name is Sergeant Cormalink 5155. >> What's his other guy's? >> What? >> What's the other guy's name and badge number? >> I don't know his badge number one. >> Name and badge number. >> Officer Jake Hassler. >> 1454. >> 1454. >> All right. Thank you, sir. >> That's for court. I'm not going to dispute anything. That's for us. call a complaint against him. >> Okay. That's for internal affairs. You can come down Monday through Friday and do that. Okay. You'll need to do it in person. You have to sign it. Okay. >> Anything else? >> There's no online. >> No, there's nothing. I don't believe there's anything online. You have to sign >> with the Corona. Can you still get in there to do it? >> Call ahead of time just to make sure. I don't think I as far as I know you can, but I don't want to. So, okay. Anything else? >> Don't be a >> All right. Have a good day. >> Being a dick. >> Give this ID to the other guy. >> This is my intro. There's a lot to try to go into and I'm not going to try to lay it all out here. I will say this. I was a passenger in a vehicle when I and the driver both witnessed an EPD officer flying up the highway, not using his turn signals, cutting curves, going across the lines, riding the lines, whatever. We pulled up alongside the officer eventually as the public observing an officer during the course of his or her duties and attempting to document true speed by pacing him. Later, directly prior to a retaliatory stop, in my opinion, he again saw my camera up. Immediately after the second observation, officer Oxygen Waster began forcefully pumping his brakes. I was not the driver. I would have made some different decisions during this, but the driver controls his own actions. I was mostly along for the ride. And before I even start this, let me tell you upfront, yes, I'll be pausing for comments. There are other channels and other cop watchers and many other videos of idiot cops like these proving they and their department wouldn't know accountability nor professionalism if Chief Bolan pulled it out of his panties and slapped him upside the face with it during the How much do you want to bet there is no accountability here either and the alleged leader Sergeant Crown and Officer have done much worse when they knew they weren't being documented or even when they knew they were. You know the old saying, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear? Well, I've heard a lot of stories about EPD, and I'm starting to believe him. Is this what you meant by your mission statement here? To be honest, I tried my best to leave the interactions between the driver and officer on his knees, but a few times I spoke up, especially after bag asked me if I had ID on me. Now, I don't want to speak for the driver, but from my understanding, per a last conversation with the driver, officers should get prepared both for jury trials as well as official complaints. Although I was technically detained because I was in the scene, I was in the vehicle, I was not the driver. I was not the one stopped. I was not the one cited. As such, any complaints aren't going to be coming from me. They're coming from him because he was the main subject of the stop and the operator of the motor vehicle. and he has the ultimate decision as to whether or not he takes this to jury trial. >> This encounter shows exactly why officers need to understand the legal limits of a traffic stop before demanding identification from everyone inside a vehicle. The driver may be subject to the ordinary requirements of a traffic stop. But a passenger is not automatically transformed into the subject of an investigation simply because an officer wants to know who they are. A passenger identification demand requires its own lawful basis, such as reasonable suspicion supported by specific facts when the law requires it. Here, the passenger repeatedly made it clear that he wasn't the driver and challenged the officers to explain the legal basis for demanding his ID. Instead of clearly establishing that lawful basis, the encounter turned into a prolonged argument over identification and authority. The passenger ultimately obtained the officer's identifying information and indicated that he intended to pursue an official complaint. The lesson is simple. Officers have authority during traffic stops, but that authority still has constitutional limits.
