What's good everybody? Welcome back to Body Cam Vibes. Back to another body cam video we're going to react and discuss to today. Y'all know who this is. Shout out to EW Body Cam for this video. And I'm going to say it one more time. >> We know this is EWU's body cam video. We do what? We react and discuss >> their footage of public records that they got. [laughter] You get what I'm saying? We have to say that people say, "Why y'all stealing EW stuff?" We ain't stealing. We are reacting to it by fair use and discussing it. All right, let's not waste no time. Let's get into it. 2024, Bernal Leo County deputies arrive at the home of 60-year-old Steven Buyers, a man wanted on multiple active warrants, including lararseny, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, and contracting without a license. They catch him just as he's attempting to leave. >> Let me get down now. Let me put my dogs down. Get down now. Get down. I'm >> Let me just put my dogs up, please. Let me just put my dogs up. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> No, I don't have no weapons at all. >> Can you just open the gate? Let me put the dogs in. >> Sit up to your your backside there. >> Okay. >> Will they will they like listen? >> Yeah, they'll listen to me. Yes. >> Send it. >> Okay. Thank you. >> The deputies walk Steven to a cruiser and search his pockets, finding tinfoil and a small tube containing 42 blue pills. >> Dump in here. >> Uh in there. Yes. >> What is it? What's that honey p? >> Oh, that's fentinel. >> Can you just please let me up? You guys got me cuffed. They won't do nothing. Please, you guys, please. Please. >> Do you have leashes or something? >> If if you just open the gate, I'll tell them to go and they'll run back up. >> There's only one problem. The gate is locked and the keys are inside the truck. >> Are are they mean dog? >> No, they're not mean at all. >> Oh, that's the mean, dude. [laughter] It's okay. Hey. Hey. >> Oh, yeah. No, I'm not on that. >> While some of the dogs are distracted, a deputy is able to quickly reach in and grab the keys, but they still need Steven's help getting them out of the truck and inside the gate. They decide to let him help if he's willing to cooperate. >> Here's what we're going to do. >> Yes, sir. >> Did you move your own cuffs to the front? >> Yes, I did. >> Why'd you do that? >> Cuz I was freaked out. I just needed to just >> Okay, here's the deal. >> I couldn't breathe. I just >> So, number one, don't ever do that again. >> Okay. >> Number two, I'm going to let you keep them like that right now cuz we're going to go put the dogs in the yard. They already opened the gate, >> but I'm going to have you do it. Okay. >> With Steven's cooperation, they're able to get his dog safely inside. >> And while that's one problem solved, they're about to have an entirely new one on their hands. >> While in custody, Steven complains of chest pain and difficulty breathing and is transported to Love Lace Hospital for treatment. There, staff administer nitroglycerin, a medication that can cause side effects, including nausea. >> Eventually, Steven asks to use the restroom. >> No funny business. You're not going to try to take off on me. Anything stupid? >> No. All right. No, we won't even cuff you. We'll just walk over here. >> All right. >> No, you're good. >> He said, "Nah, you're good." [snorts] Mm. >> [laughter] >> For several minutes, Steven can be heard vomiting behind the bathroom door. He soon returns to the deputy's custody without incident, so there's little concern when he asks to go again. But it's during this next trip to the restroom that a strange noise catches a staff member's attention, signaling that things are about to take an unexpected turn. >> Hear what? >> Like a I don't know, a loud sound. >> I don't think so. All right in there, >> Stephen. You all right? >> Yeah, there's a >> I hear it up there. >> Uhoh. >> Wait, what? >> This damn man don't climbed up. >> Stephen, [laughter] get down. >> He's in the ceiling. Okay, you got a key. >> His ass got up there and got STUCK IN THE CEILING. I THOUGHT HE WAS DOING something else for a minute. >> Me, too. He's talking to my [laughter] >> Oh, man. >> Dude, you might be done lost your job. >> The ceiling. Can we get him down? >> He's in the ceiling. >> Yeah, this door is locked. >> Yeah, he just fell through the ceiling. >> Oh my goodness. >> Oh my god. Uh, I think he's We need a We need a key to this door. >> Security. >> We're in the ghetto. >> How you doing, >> Steven? Get your out here. >> Please note in the cat that my 16 is trying to escape through the ceiling. God love us. >> We're going to get you. >> He's not doing very good. >> While hospital staff begin moving patients in case Steven falls to the ceiling, a member of security unlocks the bathroom door. Inside, they find that Steven had overturned a trash can, using it to hoist himself up through one of the tiles. >> My goodness. >> Steven, you're not getting out, bro. Get your down here. >> He's moving that way. >> He's moving that way. >> Yeah, he's moving this way. >> Fall through. Where are the lights, Stephen? You're just catching more charges, bro. Get your down. >> Once the commotion stops, they begin to fear he may have already found a way out. Maintenance brings in a ladder, allowing security to take a look around. >> We just move some of this stuff in case he can't hear. >> I'm in like four rooms. Can we add that to the charges? Like all this destruction? >> No. Yeah, we are. >> Just got to get him first. >> Hoping that Steven may still be hiding, a deputy climbs the ladder to get a closer look. So this drops down and the the like insulation is pulled out that he might have went down to the floor >> down right there. >> Yeah, like straight down under where the ladder is. >> All right, here's that other room. >> Let's see if I can get down there. >> Once the deputy reaches the ground, he quickly spots Steven crouched in the fetal position. >> Sounds stupid, huh? >> Yeah, I tried. Let's go. Some odd try. >> I tried it. >> Why would you do something like that, dude? >> Just got scared. >> So now extra charges is worth it, bro. >> No. Come on. Let's go. >> I'm not violent. >> I don't think you're violent, but I got him right here. >> I just got scared. >> Got him. He's got him. >> He got him. >> Well, let me help you up. >> Uh, you're going to have to go first. He's right here with me on the other side of this wall. >> That's crazy, man. >> No. >> No. >> Dang. I ain't got no way to get out. >> Y [laughter] >> cuz I am right here. >> I listen to you. You got my word. >> No, I I don't really give by your word right now. >> No, I know, right? >> But he's going to have to climb up to you guys. >> Okay. >> It's about probably Well, you saw where I went through >> here. back up so I can get behind you. >> And then >> Yeah, I have him >> here. >> He's climbing up. >> And when you skinny, you can shimmy me. >> Oh, >> he's going up. Okay, man. Back up. Back up. Back up. >> Step down. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> All right. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Do exactly like I'm telling you to. Do you understand? >> With Steven back in custody, it's now the deputy's turn to make his way out of the cramped space. You >> ready, brother? >> Yeah. Coming. tight fit. Now I was like there's not many places you can go. >> All right. >> Good. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Got it. You got it. It's close. Despite the nearfall, the deputy makes it out safely. >> You all right, man? >> Hey, [laughter] it's another day. >> Is he finished being [clears throat] cleared? >> They just gave him meds. They were monitoring him for >> heart issues. It's that nitro wasn't apparent. >> Yeah. Say you had diarrhea and then you climbed through the roof. I don't believe you now. >> I did poop before. >> I did poop before. >> Yeah. Serge. According to police records, hospital staff estimated approximately $20,000 in damage, including broken ceiling panels and pipes. After Steven was discharged, he was permanently trespassed from the hospital. >> I'm going to retire early because of this messtheloma. Can't breathe. [snorts] >> In a Facebook post, the Bernal Leo County District Attorney revealed that 60-year-old Steven Buyers had a criminal history dating back 30 years, including charges of fraud and forgery. as well as multiple criminal convictions. >> According to court documents, following the incident at Love Lace Hospital, Steven accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to escape or attempt to escape from the custody of a peace officer [music] and two counts of larseny. He was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in the New Mexico Department of Corrections to be followed by one year of parole. Watch our full videos as they were originally made. I'm I'm Look, I'm 40 and I would have I be having a a a super panic attack being in that wall. >> They would have to uh get the jaws of life on me to get me out, man. >> And this man 60 and climb like Spider-Man through that damn wall. >> Y >> put me to shame. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> God dog, man. >> What in the world is wrong with people, man? You sick. I didn't I didn't think he was 60. >> Me either. >> Wow. >> I think that's another thing about uh what I always be talking about like how >> you have to stay physically li because he probably is always physically active. >> Yeah. >> Um he done did some very petty crimes though. >> But whatever it is, I bet you he can do 10,000 different things. I bet he can do some plumbing. I bet you going to have to pay for that plumbing for the thing. But I bet he can do probably some landscaping. I bet he does like farm work. I bet you he can do a number of things cuz you >> to look like that, you have to stay physically active doing something. I bet he can do a bunch of different things. For whatever reason, he just love breaking the law. >> But I don't understand why some people just like getting in trouble. [laughter] >> And why what what would make you go in the ceiling? >> He trying to get away by any means necessary. >> For what though? What what makes you Listen, listen listen, I think about situations before I do it. >> Mhm. >> If I go in the bathroom and they don't see me in the bathroom, they're going to know I went somewhere, right? >> So, they going to know I went in the ceiling. If I'mma get if I'm going to if I'm going to like Mario, if I'm going to do, [laughter] >> it's a me. If I >> [laughter] >> If I'm going to I'm still saying it. >> If if I'm going >> Stephen, go ahead. >> If I'm going if I'm Y'all know what I'm trying to say. If I'm going to do something like that, I'm going to make sure like who Let me let me let me let me uh take one of these uh doctor vest and fit in like I'm a doctor, >> right? And when a bunch of doctors walking around together, I'm going to get in the mix with them and get out, >> right? >> Something that you can get kind of away from. >> You go in the bathroom when they know you can't you ain't going below. So you going to go hide somewhere and get in the ceiling >> and get closer to OH LORD. ALL RIGHT. And people can hear you walking on the ceiling. >> Yeah. Making noise. You ain't first of all, you ain't that limber where it's limber to get up in there, but you're not limber enough to be quiet and just walk on the spokes. >> Yeah. Just just [laughter] You know what's crazy though? >> How you can do all these things and go to jail and just get out. I would have at some point said, "Mr. Steven, you done been in jail various times. You ain't getting out no more cuz you are obviously not fit for >> public >> I don't know what I don't know what I'm trying to say. >> You are not fit for I'm about to say public consumption." Yeah. >> One of his crimes like they said he had done like a number of things. >> All kind of stuff. >> Yeah. I'm like, dang, dude. You ain't figured it out. Yeah. You're a bad criminal in terms of now, you know, there are certain criminals that do like really bad things. Like I don't think none of those were on his thing. I don't think.
