it's cops versus bikers a classic rivalry or more specifically state troopers versus a motorcyclist according to radio traffic the motorcycle was traveling more than 100 miles an hour on minneapolis st paul area highways this is in the east metro this is highway 36 eastbound heading towards snelling and occurred in september 2021 the video shows him passing traffic going well above the speed of traffic so the department of transportation has the cameras on the freeways and state highways but there are other agencies minneapolis police have their own traffic cameras saint paul has their own traffic cameras i think anoka county department of transportation has its own cameras they just don't live stream like the d.o.t state cameras and wow using the exit lane he's going to pass the car on the right cross the shoulder and get back into the through lanes but there are a lot of cameras in the world that we live in everyone's got a ring doorbell everyone's got a nest cam and the d.o.t or police are no exception to that so what's the plan here how do you stop a motorcycle most agencies i know i can't speak for all of them there are 17 000 agencies law enforcement agencies out there you can't use spike strips on a motorcycle that would be considered lethal force for most agencies so i think the plan here is to sneak up on this guy or gal let them have their guard down for a moment and see if you can sneak in sneak up on them lots of people when they're running from the police or state troopers they're gonna take once they get a big lead they're gonna take the first exit they get and that's exactly what happens here so the motorcycle has exited came to a stop at the stoplight they're starting to relax a little bit they look around see if they're in a clear am i really in the clear relax for a moment put their visor up start to organize their thoughts and here it is oh trooper does sneak up on him a little bit of a double take what's going to happen here going to take off they're thinking about and the trooper makes physical contact there tries to turn it off yeah turns it off real quick okay trooper okay okay my hands are up i'll stop trooper uses radio it calls out that he's on scene okay i'm stopping i'm not going anywhere trooper tries to take the key out kind of swats his hand he's like i'll take it out i would not recommend you know swapping swiping your hand at a state trooper or a police officer for that matter but no adverse reaction from the officer there okay you need to throw the keys on the ground i'll throw the keys on the ground unless people do try to shake hands with officers officers will shake hands with you sometimes they won't it depends on the agency depends on the situation there's a safety issue here where if you're a police officer giving your strong hand over to someone you can put yourself in a disadvantaged situation so some officers won't do that we'll speed it up 8x speed ramsey county does come out just to make sure the scene is secure this and within a few minutes they do get vehicles off the roadway to start freeing up clearing out some space for traffic to resume sometimes bikers or motorcyclists if you stop you know that sometimes you do get a nice break maybe just a warning in this instance you got a citation it could have a criminal charge on there and require a court appearance but maybe it's just a simple citation at mn safety we believe knowledge is power especially when it comes to public safety please support our mission by liking subscribing and sharing our videos subscribing is free and you can always unsubscribe
