The encounter quickly escalated when the officers claimed they smelled marijuana and used that as justification to search the entire vehicle, even though the driver repeatedly denied using any drugs. Calm but firm, he repeatedly demanded that the officers explain the legal basis for the search and questioned the validity of their suspicions. Despite failing to uncover any clear evidence of criminal activity, the officers continued prolonging the stop and pressuring him.
