take a seat and i'll have help on the way um were you hiking in the area how did you break your toes are you in the parking lot then [Music] he's in the parking lot yeah he didn't tell me that at the beginning he's in the parking lot trying to find cars my name is brittany mitchell i'm a communications supervisor for the 911 center we have really good coordinates on your phone i need you to stay where you're at and not keep walking he was not happy he's from out of state didn't realize how dark and cold it gets in the mountains he was not happy that we didn't have a ranger on standby in the parking lot to help find his vehicle yes he was extremely upset with me you're answering 9-1-1 on the worst day of somebody's life we don't expect them to be happy or we're cheerful about it we don't typically expect the thank yous for it we just know that we're doing the best that we can to help people take a deep breath for me okay i have help on the way take a deep breath for me i don't want either of you guys to have a heart attack like you mentioned we have the two radio channels and our phone lines ringing at any time and having to help each other in the room and calling other agencies and we're juggling a lot it's a lot of multitasking i want everybody inside and lock your doors i have help on the way okay it is a huge team effort it's a huge you can't do this by yourself you have your call taker that's on the 9-1-1 that's a life or death emergency as you're putting in the call comments for that call your teammate is sending it out over the radio to the deputies that are responding i do not need you to follow it but if it turns i just let me know you have to love the adrenaline you have to love wanting to help somebody and doing something different every day all right thank you bye-bye it's a fun ride it's been seven years here and i can't see myself doing anything else it's it's an adrenaline rush but it's also fulfilling knowing that you're helping somebody you're helping your community and this is where my family's at and i would want somebody to help them the way i'm helping somebody [Music] you
