How you doing? >> Uh, not so good now. >> Well, you're under arrest. You passed me at 100. >> You passed me at 100 miles an hour. Yeah. So, you're under arrest for criminal speed. I'm just going to decide if I can book you into jail or not. >> Oh. >> So, well, I mean, that's that's that's what you get. So, you have registration paperwork, current proof insurance, and your driver's license. So, I'm Deputy Slope. I work for the Pack County Sheriff's Office traffic unit. >> I'm sorry. >> You only Sorry you got caught. >> Yeah, I know. Yeah. >> Well, at least we're on the same page. >> Yeah. What what in God's name would make you go 100 miles an hour on one of the most dangerous roads in Panol County? >> I didn't even realize I was going out. Just frustrated, but guy kept slowing down speed. Slowing down speed, slowing down. Why is he slowing down speed up? And I just like wanted to get out of everybody's like spaced where I can't get in. I'm like, I just get around everybody and get out of the way. You know what I mean? That was that insurance is good. I'll give that one back to you. >> It's been a bad day. >> Sometimes that happens when people meet me. All right. Doesn't look like you've ever been contacted by us before. So, you're going to receive a criminal citation for exceeding 85 mph on any highway in the state of Arizona. Anytime you're over 85 anywhere in the state, the state says, "Hey, that's criminal. That's just too fast." So, especially since you're in a 50 mph zone, I locked you in at 99. Um, I saw you at 100. I just couldn't lock my little button fast enough. Um, so you have a mandatory court date. It's actually in the city of Maricopa on the 9th day of February, which is a Monday, at 9:00 in the morning. And all you'll do is you'll appear there in front of the judge and you'll say, "Your honor, >> got me. >> He got me." >> He's in an unmarked car. He's super sneaky today. He's a super secret squirrel. >> Um, you know, and he got me. >> Uh, so that's your assigned date and time. Just need your signature there. All that says is, "Yep, you promised to appear." >> Okay. >> There we go. Right on the line right there. >> You know, my wife's going to kick my butt when I get home. >> That's what why we do. That's why I don't have one. because she uh she deals with the traffic and transportation and all that stuff. So she >> Oh yeah, that'll >> and you know what that puts her on the mountain of right you in the valley of wrong my friend. >> I thought you were officer Frank at first I'm like oh don't tell >> she watches him all the time >> she does show her that ticket. Say look at this guy. >> So what's that guy's last name? >> What's that? >> What's that guy that Frank guy's last name? Uh uh officer Frank. He's on YouTube. >> Is it Slope? >> Uh I forget what his name was. I forget to be honest with you. But they watch >> you. You got rearview mirror there, right? >> Look backwards. See that guy? >> Cuz that guy's me. >> Oh, is it you? >> It's me. >> You are Officer Frank. >> It's me. >> I'm Deputy I'm Deputy Frank. >> Okay. She's going to kick my ass. >> Well, but hey, at least you got my name on a piece of paper. I mean, there's that. Yep. That and $150 will get you a hot dog at Costco. >> You guys safe out there? >> Absolutely, man. Thanks for being so cordial. You slow down. You drive safe today. >> Thank you. >> Thanks, man. >> So, you might notice that I'm not in the Explorer that I'm normally in, and that's because the sheriff's office traffic unit has all sorts of different vehicles, and some of which are available to switch in and out of. Uh, right now, my Explorer is getting an oil change, so I jumped in the Mustang today um just to give a little different look. People don't expect me to be in it, and uh lets me be a little bit more undercover. So, you never know what guys in the traffic unit are going to be driving. today. I just happen to be in this. >> Okay. See your driver's license? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Well, I'm Deputy Slope. Work for the Panel County Sheriff's Office traffic unit. Reason I stopped you is you're passing everything in sight at more than 30 mph over the speed limit. >> I'm sorry. I'm just trying to get to the hospital. >> Okay. Okay. So, what is your daughter in the hospital for? Let's Let's go down this rabbit hole. No, >> it's not asthma attack. A >> what? Asthma attack? Is someone else there with her? >> Yes. >> Okay. Are you a doctor? >> No, sir. >> Okay. So, she is in the hands of medical professionals. Someone else from the family is there. >> Yes, sir. >> And you're not going to do anything to help her in any way, manner, shape, or form. Right. No. >> But you're driving at a criminal amount of speed like someone's chasing you. Right. >> You're 32 miles an hour over the speed limit when I locked you in. >> Okay. Okay. So, now I'm just trying to get in front of you, sir. I was >> Well, you got in front of me first. You got in front of the car behind me. Then you got in front of me, then you got in front of the car in front of me. >> I thought I got in front of you. >> Yeah, but before me, you got in front of the car that was behind me. So, see [music] how registration paperwork, care, and proof insurance. >> I'm not I'm I'm not trying to piss you off, sir. Anything. This >> anger is not an emotion I feel. >> No. I I >> You could You couldn't piss me off if you called me names. >> No, no, no. window, sir. >> All right. You have you have your registration paperwork in there somewhere? >> I don't. >> All right. I'll give you that back. Hang tight for me. >> Okay. So, >> I'm sorry, sir. I'm >> No, it's okay. >> I'm not Can you just >> I I totally under I absolutely understand. However, you are traveling at a criminal amount of speed, right? Okay. >> So, let me break this down for you. A criminal amount of speed. This isn't going to happen. That's all you know. But Criminal Mile Speed allows me to place you on into custody, take you place you under arrest, put you in the back of my car, um drive you to jail, book you into jail, and tow your car. Right. Yes, sir. >> So, that is that's how the state of Arizona looks at the speed that you were traveling, right? That's what a big deal it is. Now, like I said, I'm not going to do that to you, right? And I understand you want to get there to your daughter, right? I absolutely understand that. But we also all know that asthma attacks aren't killing people, right? >> No, my daughter. No, this is not the first time this has happened. She's been transferred to the children's been hospital for. Her mom has big dogs >> and I express my concern about like these dogs are not important in our child when when it affects her breathing. Like she's been like this for a long time. all type of inhibitors. They didn't had she been admitted into the hospital. They had big bags and there's a couple times a couple once I've almost lost my daughter because of this. And they're the boyfriend's dogs. >> We we know we know how that is. But so I understand all that, right? I understand your your necessity and wanting to get there to your daughter. I absolutely understand that. If I had kids that I knew about, I guarantee I'd be the same way. However, you also can't just be blowing through traffic. So, this is what I did. You're going a criminal amount of speed. I did not issue you a criminal ticket. Okay? You're getting a regular speeding ticket cuz your speed's too fast and I just I there's it's just too just too much. So, but nothing criminal related to this. Okay. Does that somewhat seem fair? >> Yeah. >> Right. Cuz I still have a job to do >> and it's my job to slow you down a bit. So, all we're doing is regular speed. Now, I locked you in 82 and a 50 cuz that's how fast you were going. Um, and that was after you passed me. That was actually when you passed the car in front of me. Um, so you're 32 over. It's just fast. Phone number right here is the phone number for the court. Court's located in Maricopa. I put it in the same city that you live in. >> How much is it? >> Uh, you know what? I don't know because uh, sheriff's office doesn't deal with money. That right there is your driver's license. >> I'm sorry, sir. >> No, it's okay. >> It's okay, man. I have I have a job and my job is to stop people that are driving in an aggressive manner and write them tickets. You're driving in an aggressive manner. I drove you a ticket. I'm out here doing my job. Um, but what I don't need to do is take you to jail, right? Because I don't get that I need to go to jail feeling from you, right? You're just a concerned dad. But I know I hope that was for me. All right, man. Drive slower. All right. Get out of here.
