Not normal for someone not to have their own boarding pass because to get on the plane you have to scan at the gate which you know, right? >> Yeah. >> So if you never scanned in at the gate, that doesn't make sense to us that your boyfriend would scan you in at the gate and say see you and >> These foolish Karens thought they could enter an airport whenever they pleased until the consequences left them with no way back. >> Right now right now we're going to be taking you into custody for criminal trespass. >> Karen brought a string of lies to fool airport security, but what awaited her beyond the aircraft door was more costly than any ticket. With no ticket and no identification, she still appeared inside the secure area and invented a story about a mysterious boyfriend. >> I don't have my ID. Like I was just visiting here. I lost my ID when on my way here and so they actually let me come out here with like a paper ID and so it just basically ended up getting lost and so he basically I asked him to book me a [clears throat] ticket online. He said that he booked it. He walked me to the gate and they said that that wasn't the ticket for me to get on and so they said that wasn't the right name. I was like, "Well, where are you going?" He was like, "I'm going to the car. I'll be back." >> have like the paper ID that they gave you? >> I don't. I don't have any ID. So I'm trying to call him. I have no idea what's going on and so they were just mad. They were like, "Well, this isn't the right name." We're like we're they were like, "Well, you're in seat 29." Well, actually maybe you're not in seat 29. We have no idea. I'm here. >> Were you from so you took a flight from San Francisco to Seattle? >> Well, I actually got on the Amtrak here and so I was like trying to figure out a way to get back. I was like, "Well, I wanted to go like maybe on a little vacation." He was like, "I'll just book you a ticket wherever you want to go." So he walked me here. I've never been here. This is my life. This is my first time in Washington. So I'm just like lost. >> your boyfriend live here? >> Yeah, he lives in Seattle. So I I have no idea like what's going on. >> How'd you get past the security? >> He walked me in. He walked me in with my ticket and everything and he said that it was fine. They checked my >> boyfriend work here? >> I don't think so. >> And where is your boyfriend right now? >> I he said that he was going to the car and so I thought that he was outside, so I wanted to walk outside cuz I had to go to the bathroom real quick. So, I just basically came back in, and so I'm just kind of like lost. I'm like trying to see where he is, to see where the documentation is. And I told him I would come right back with the >> Yeah. >> with the stuff that he basically scanned. So, I'm like I don't I have no idea. >> But, how'd you get through security? Cuz >> He walked me through. He walked me through with everything. >> So, he had a ticket, and you had a ticket? >> Yeah, he walked me cuz I'm I'm not from Seattle. This is my first time here. I've never been here. I have no idea where I am. >> The deeper the questioning went, the more contradictory ages and identities she provided, turning an ordinary conversation into a serious investigation. >> My name is Maria. So, he was supposed to be helping me, and so I was just like lost, and so I thought that he was supposed to be helping me out, and so uh he said that he was out here in the parking lot, so I was walking >> Right. >> to see where he was. So, I just walked in here to go to the bathroom real quick, but I don't know if he's still there or where he's at, but I'm I'm trying to call him and see. >> What's his name? >> Uh, his name is Deion, and what's his phone number? Uh, it was 510 >> Okay. >> Do you have your phone with you? >> I don't have I don't have my phone, so I'm like I've been trying to >> I am just trying to make sure I understand the situation cuz we work here every day. >> So, my my understanding is, okay, if he had a ticket and you had a ticket, right? Cuz that's the only way you can really get through security. >> Yeah. >> How come he was leaving? >> Well, he because he's staying here. He lives here, but I was just visiting here. So, he was like, "I'll just book you a ticket for a little while." >> But, security doesn't let people through TSA unless they have a ticket. >> Yeah, so he showed the ticket, and he showed everything, and he walked me through. He walked me all the way to the >> But, TSA doesn't let that happen. >> Well, he They let him walk. So, he walked me to the gate, and so he said, "This is where you're supposed to be" cuz I had no idea cuz I'm I'm never been here before. I'm I'm only in my 30s, so I have no idea like >> Cuz we're trying to figure out like can you like for us like my biggest concern is one, are you in any trouble? >> I'm not in any I'm not in any trouble. I don't have nothing, no criminal record, anything. >> But like do you not like that but like are you in trouble where you need help or assistance like from us? Like are you I mean you're not in any way like Deion willingly you're you're here by choice. >> Yes. >> Okay. And Deion was going to go ahead how long have you been dating Deion? >> I mean we've been dating for a couple a couple of years. So okay. >> So long distance relationship? >> Yeah and so I I thought that everything was legit so I have no idea what's going on. His mom probably knows more what's going on. I know how to get there like from the buses and stuff so I >> Where does Deion live? >> He lives like out in like the SeaTac area. I'm not sure. >> So close by. How long did it take for you to get to the airport from here? >> Well he drove me here it was probably only maybe like 10 minutes but >> Okay. >> So I mean I can kind of like figure out where they live. I wouldn't mind coming back to you guys and showing you the documentation and stuff that he showed at the scanning was found. >> That would be helpful for us, right? I have your side of the story. I wish I could talk to Deion. >> I don't know if that's like the captain or he said just talk to the person up there and I went and talked to them and then they said they were calling the security and all that and stuff but I had no idea what was going on so I was like >> You don't have a phone with you. Cuz the hard part is is like your story >> Yeah and so I I just had to yeah so I went I know I don't know if he's like in the parking lot or whatever. I just had to run to the bathroom really quick but I'm like trying to find him and make sure he's there. >> is your phone number? >> Yes I I know that you guys have a part like in the >> Where is your phone if you >> I don't have my phone with me. My phone is actually back back home but I know that you guys have like a part in the airport. >> Yes. >> I I wouldn't mind coming and bringing the documentation and stuff like that. I'm not >> Okay. >> And so I can bring it back. >> If you come back with that documents that would help clear out a lot of things. If you don't come back I have this story with holes that this report I'm going to and everything's audio video recorded. This report will end up being filed and it'll go to FBI and if we have nothing to fill those gaps I'm positive they're going to try to contact you and we'll try fill this hole with what's going on. But, is that alcohol? >> That's just like a little bit of wine, but yeah. >> And have you been drinking today? >> No, I don't >> Drinking is all right. >> When airport surveillance footage and fingerprints began telling the story, the innocent image she tried to maintain could no longer hold up. >> You are detained while we are investigating a criminal trespass. Number two, hold on. Number two is if your name has no record or doesn't come back to anything, then we're going to have to keep questioning you or ID you using fingerprints. So, I'd rather you be transparent cuz you did misspell your last name twice. And also, how old are you right now? >> I'm 27. >> 27 years old? So, so that's wrong, right? If you're born in 1994, you're not 27. So, there's my point, right? So, a lot of things aren't adding up. >> But, I I I really didn't do anything wrong. I'm not from Seattle, I'm actually from >> That does That doesn't matter. That does not matter. That does not matter. It does not matter. >> Why would you lie about your age? >> I didn't lie I didn't lie. >> That is a lie. You just told us you're 27, but you're actually 30 by the date of birth you gave us, right? So, we can continue to play this game, but I'm not going to, right? >> I'm not I'm not I swear I would never lie to you. >> So, what's your birthday? >> My birthday is 3 8 1994. >> And you're still 27? >> [clears throat] >> Right now Right now, we're going to be taking you into custody for criminal trespass. >> So, what we're going to do is we're going to take you up cuz Remember I told you there's a lot of people involved in this, and since you aren't able to show valid ticket, we need to investigate this further. >> I know. Well, >> Okay, we're going to put you in handcuffs now. >> Well, I don't I don't have a criminal record. >> That's fine. That's fine. I appreciate you working with us, but for right now, you're going to be facing handcuffs, okay? >> We're going to Remember I told you though, it becomes a big safety issue. The holes in your story are becoming a bigger and bigger problem. >> Give me your hand. Thank you. >> Okay. >> So, what's going to happen is we're going to put you in a holding cell for now. >> But, I didn't I really didn't I >> Hold Hold on. You're You're under arrest for criminal trespass, right? And hold on. Let me Let me I just explained something to you. I did not ask you to talk to me. I'm explaining something. Right? So, right now we're going to put you in a holding cell and then we're going to end up fingerprinting you to discover your identity. I'm not asking you to respond. I'm just telling you, okay? >> I'm I'm really not doing anything wrong. I'm doing good. I'm only I'm somebody is harassing me. I met somebody >> We're not harassing you. We're trying to figure out what's going on here. TSA called us and said that there's somebody on the plane that doesn't have a ticket. >> They called you? >> Yes. So, there's an FBI agent that's on his way out here to interview you. >> That's fine. >> If you're not able to identify you, then it's probably not going to go very well for you. And is that what you're going to stick with that? >> Um that's who I am. >> That's who you are? Okay. Show your right hand, please. Thank you. And you've never been booked in the jail at all, anywhere? >> Um probably like a couple years ago. >> Where? >> Um probably in Sonoma County. >> Thinking the matter was over, she returned to the airport only 3 days later with a new story and even greater consequences. >> Are you are you employed here at the airport? >> No, my I'm waiting for my sister. She said she was just coming from Alaska and when I talked to my lawyer, he said that I could I'm here but I just can't I'm not allowed to >> I'll read it one time. >> that all you have to say is if I'm trespassing, you can tell me to leave but I am allowed at the airport. That's what they just told me yesterday. They said I am allowed to come to the airport. >> Who told you that? >> That's what my lawyer told me when I was >> lawyer doesn't dictate that. >> No, I was in court and No, he said he I know I was arrested. I was arrested and they just told me they said you can come to the airport anytime. All you guys can do is tell me to leave if I'm trespassing. >> There's There's signs that are posted. You're already trespassing on our airport terminal if you don't have any airport business. >> No, but he he said I could come to the airport. All you can do is tell me to leave but he said Huh? No, my my sister is here. I know I'm not doing anything wrong. I really am a good person. Well, I'm waiting for my sister. >> Do you have a boarding pass or card? >> Huh? >> I'll read it. >> Huh? I'm I'm supposed to be picking her up. She was supposed to be coming in from from Alaska. No, I don't have the card. I'm not from I'm not from Washington. >> Okay. >> Well, but I'm Am I trespassing? And she told me that they told me that I could come to the airport. >> Listen listen to this, okay? >> Uh she was supposed to be coming in on Alaska Delta. And I also canceled Delta. >> Delta? No, they're two different airlines. >> Or it might be United. And then and I came to see I came to see how much the tickets were here too. So I came to see >> sell tickets here. >> No, they sell tickets at the Southwest booth. >> sister's coming on in on Alaska, Delta, United? >> Yeah. >> Is that like one airline? >> Uh it is. >> Okay, so I don't know if you recognize me. We talked to you on Christmas Eve when you were over at the South Satellite facility. >> Escalates? >> Yeah. >> So I've watched you on video where you went down and slipped under stanchions to get by security. >> Where? >> We have cameras everywhere. >> She was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal trespass and one count of providing false information to a public official. [music] Next, throughout the flight, the woman repeatedly shook the seat, kicked violently, and drew the entire cabin's attention. But her next action truly crossed the line. >> So we have like a mom probably in her 50s >> Uh-huh. >> traveling with her son who's probably six or seven and a grandma. >> Mhm. >> Um the mom has acted kind of crazy, shaking the seat in front of her. She reared back and slapped really hard the grandma. Um and a passenger saw it and she is she went to the back laugh, but it was locked and closed and no one was in it. She was kicking it. Um they have been calm. I did have another crew member sit close so she can monitor during taxi and landing. She's been okay. Um but there is an elderly person involved and a child. So I [music] I can't >> they're all traveling together. Where did this happen? Was it right after right after takeoff? So were you in state of Florida? You'd say or >> Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it happened within the last hour. >> Within the last hour? Okay. I guess would you be able to point them out to us as they come off? >> Uh well, they're 22 Delta. Do you want me to just go get them? >> Let's see if they can come off. >> Okay. >> How's everybody doing? All right, we're going to go talk when we get to the top. Ma'am, over here. Ma'am, come over here. Cuz me and you need to talk. So, what's going on? Is that your mom? Is this your mother? >> Yeah. >> Did anything happen on the flight between you and your mother? >> Nothing. She don't talk. I did not see her. She did not take her medication. >> She didn't take her medication? >> I was very upset because I can't retrieve them. But the doctor I'm very upset because to find them. >> To find her medication? >> tell me doctor did not take them. >> Okay, cuz we got reports that you may have slapped her. >> Yeah. >> Did >> I was very upset but I was very upset >> Did you slap her in the face? >> because I know I I >> So, you got to >> recover them. >> So, you got upset cuz she forgot her medications? While her elderly mother tried to downplay the incident, she continued blaming medication as though one explanation could erase everything. Too much surgery? >> She is sleeping nervous. >> Okay. >> When I have surgery I see I put drop. I finish my drop yesterday. >> Mhm. >> She told me, "Okay, you not talk me No more talk. Okay, okay. That is >> Okay. >> normal. >> Did Did anything happen on the plane physically? >> Yeah. >> Something physical? But what happened? I understand you're you're saying okay it's okay. Because if you don't tell me other people are going to tell me. And I I want to hear from what you have to tell me. >> Sorry, my English is so terrible. >> Español? Or what what do you speak? >> I speak Bulgarian. >> Bulgarian? Did Did she slap you? Did she slap you? >> No, no. That is not That is first time. That is >> Oh, >> small. That is small. >> Okay, so she did. Okay. >> No. >> All right. >> Witness statements gradually closed off every escape route. The seat kicking, her erratic behavior, and the moment that stunned the entire flight. >> She was acting a bit erratic the whole flight. You know, I guess the suspect or whatever her name was. >> In what way? Drugs >> Uh >> or just >> I wouldn't say drugs, but she looked like I guess nervous and was very like erratic, you know? >> Okay. >> So when I saw what occurred, basically she was like kicking the chair and then like kind of in front of her got up and then just slapped her on the left cheek with the right hand. >> Just like slapped who? >> The older lady over there. >> Sitting next to her? >> Sitting next to her, yeah. >> Were they having words? >> They were having words like the whole flight. That's part of what I was trying to say in the beginning, yeah. >> Okay. So they were they were back and forth with each other. Who is who is sitting where? >> Uh lady who slapped was sitting in the aisle. Lady who got slapped, older lady, was in the middle. >> Okay. >> Um kid that I didn't know about on the right side. >> So basically she's being irritated the whole flight. >> Yeah, more or less. >> About an hour ago she stands She stands up or she's sitting down when she does? >> No, so I'll just basically reenact it. Sitting here starts like shaking the chair in front of her. You could ask the guy who I guess I don't know, maybe too late, but the guy in front of her was annoyed with her, too. But starts shaking it, kicks the chair, gets up, stands there, and then they're bam, slaps her across the face while they're having a conversation. >> One time? >> One time. Big big one time. But then I immediately I saw that and I went boop and then the guy came pretty quick. But she was still standing there. >> When the handcuffs appeared, she screamed, struggled, and invoked her child, but by then the consequences were no longer negotiable. >> You just put your hands behind your back. You're going to be in placed under arrest. 12146, can you show us 10-15? >> You have your grandson. >> You got your grandson with you. >> Look at your grandson. >> Hey, go get your grandson. >> Do what you can. >> No, please. >> Don't make it >> Please. >> Don't make it worse. >> TAKE ME. >> NO. >> TAKE [screaming] ME. >> NO. >> NO. Take me. >> STOP. >> TAKE ME. NO. NO, NO. What the please. >> You're going to make it worse. >> Please. >> You're going to make it worse. >> Please. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop it. >> No, I SLEEP HERE. I SLEEP HERE. >> MISS, MISS, MISS. >> I SLEEP >> YOU'RE going to make it so much worse. Your child, your child. >> I sleep here. >> You're going to put your hands behind your back. >> I sleep here. I sleep here. >> You're going to make it worse. Stop. >> I sleep here. You can go in when you want them to stay here at the airport. Look where where where where am I? Where are you going to let them go? What someone said I do. I said I apologize. >> It doesn't matter. You're in you might like you're going to be receiving a fine. Now put your hands behind >> one time. It's not a lot of time. >> It's a battery on a domestic situation. You can't touch family members. You can't even touch anybody else. If they don't want to be touched like that, you can't do it. Watch your step. Look. >> I can't look like that. >> You want to go you want to sit you want to go backwards. Put your double up these. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Watch your head. >> All right. >> You're going to want to turn to the back and you're going to want to slowly sit down, okay? >> All right. >> In Florida, battery on a person age 65 or older is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. She was charged with battery on a person age 65 or older. One seemingly minor slap earned her a direct flight to a holding cell. Hey everyone, what do you think about this situation?
