[Music] hey pinal county this is deputy chief matt hedrick here i'm at the adult detention center and i'm joined by hi i'm sergeant rocky white and welcome to this week's episode of behind the bars [Applause] all right well today we're going to discuss a go back this is a go back video and it has to deal with a cell extraction and a lot of times when we're dealing with style extractions we get to use all of our equipment because people are just not wanting to listen to us and take our advice we try to be empathetic and we try to listen to what their problems are but in the end they still have to be compliant to everything that we're that they're asked to do so let's get into this real quick um we got a gentleman here rocky can you kind of tell us from a like a supervisor's point of view when you're looking at something like this what what's happening in there chemically so chemically he's feeling a lot of pain you've got over a million scoville units getting blast into your face which creates irritation rhinorrhea you get your nose will be full of snot and it's very very uncomfortable so how do you know what this is like i've actually experienced this several times if you want later on we could go back and i can show you what it feels like it's very uncomfortable i will definitely take your advice but as we get into this so we got guys going in there and they're wearing what are these guys wearing so they are wearing ppe if you notice uh they have tactical vests on they actually have gas masks on for this type of situation that helps them be able to breathe easier in this environment all right and and i can see we have you're there i could see your hand holding the flashlight there we can pretty much will get an opportunity to see exactly how how that person is feeling tell us what's going through your mind right there right there i uh do you wish you would have had the gas mask on no and the reason why i did this was for the simple fact that i just bought a brand new a brand new pepper ball that came on the system that made a whole bunch of promises and i wanted to see was it worth the buy and as you could tell by my reaction it's everything as it is advertised oh yeah and there's a new product from pepper balls called pepper ball max and it's actually ground up very finely and some of the people in this video you can't really see them right now but if the actual powder is going through their gas masks right now that's the first time i've ever felt my lungs constrict and it made it very uncomfortable very hard to breathe it's a very good product look uh sergeant white is in charge of our defensive tactics our training he's responsible for our cert team and he is the yoda of any type of special operations that happens in our jail tell us about cert like what what what is that so it's the special emergency response team that we have at pinella county in the jail and what that does is it's a tactical unit that utilizes uh more advanced defensive tactics we get to use pepper balls shotguns and fn 303 we get more weaponry to handle disturbances within the jail more than just a combative inmate situation if there's a barricade like in this video if there's a riotous situation then cert would be activated and we'd be able to coil whatever that they have coming up that's causing disturbance i love when there's proof of concept for our chemicals that we're using judging by his reaction alone we know that we got good products and we know that we're doing good things you got anything to add the good thing about pinal county is that we're always evolving we're always looking for the best of the best whatever something on the market that helps us do our job more effectively safely and can get the job done quickly that's what we're gonna do and that's what you see here we're hiring we got the information on the screen put your application in thank you again for joining us for this week's episode of behind the bars [Music] you
