030 There it is. Well, hi there. See your driver's license, please. Reason I stopped you is you're in a school zone there at double the speed limit. You're at 30 mph in a posted 15 mph school zone. And I think your registration's expired. I've never had someone hand me a registration in three pieces before. >> What's really sad is I really did want to meet you, but absolutely not like this. I was hoping maybe it was at a coffee shop or something. >> I I hear that almost every day. It's like, "Oh, I wish I didn't meet you like this." I'm like, "And yet here we are standing on the side of the road." Hang tight, I'll be back. All right. So, your first citation is for traveling any speed in excess of 15 mph in a posted school zone. And then just not having current registration since it expired then and we're in now. In here is the three the three pieces of your registration. Well, I am At least we met. So, >> [laughter] >> thank you so much. You too. Good morning, sir. May I see your driver's license, please? >> Yes, can you tell me why I was pulled over? >> Absolutely. You're not allowed to text and drive in Arizona. >> I was trying to follow my >> I'm sure you were doing something, but you were holding your phone. >> I was. I'm going on a road trip to Tucson, sir. >> Well, I'm sorry for that cuz that's a terrible place unless you're going there to eat delicious Mexican food. So, I'm Deputy Slope. I work for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit. And reason I stopped you is cuz you text and driving, got to wear your seatbelt, and I smell donuts behind you. And I was like, "You got some donuts in that car?" >> I do. You know what I do? >> I know you do. I can smell them. >> When I go to the Tucson branch, I always bring the team two dozen. The guy on my tail last time I was there was like, "Hey, you don't have any apple fritters." So, >> You know what's funny? Apple fritter's my fav- I'm an apple fritter guy. I am not a donut guy. I'm a fritter guy. >> There we go. >> All right. Uh no worries. Is that still a good address for you? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Hang tight for me. Thank you. I don't know. The guy's super nice. I just a super nice guy. But the uh texting and driving and not wearing a seat belt is going to going to get him some paperwork this morning. >> [clears throat] >> All right, my good sir. Hey, man. I got this big old nose. I put this thing to work. Smell a donut a mile. Do I look like I miss donuts? Man, I love me some donuts. All right, so this is what the deal is. Distracted driving is one of the biggest catalysts of collisions that we have. Um it is that and speed and left turns are really the top three the biggest things that cause collisions. So, here at the sheriff's office we're really vigilant on identifying it and making sure that we address it when we see it. So, uh and we're a click it or ticket state. So, exactly what we talked about and nothing that we didn't. Operating your vehicle while using a portable wireless communication device and lap and shoulder belts that are required. That's it. To my knowledge, neither one of these are moving violations. So, no points on your license, your insurance isn't going to go up, no driving school or anything like that. They're more administrative issues between you and the court. So, you don't have to go to court unless you want to go to court. If you want to go to court, you go there and be like, "Hey, man, that wasn't me. That guy's crazy. He just wanted my He wanted to jack me for my He wanted to jack me FOR MY FRITTERS." >> [laughter] >> SO, SO THAT'S SO, THAT'S THAT. SO, I'm going to give that to you there as I uh humbly and hungrily stand here at your window. Are there any questions I can answer for you? I appreciate you being so cool. Thanks for putting your seat belt on. You have a safe drive to Tucson, all right? Thank you, sir. Thank you.
