my name is Brian chair I'm uh Patrol posi we are doing traffic control for the detectives on an investigation scene our job is to take this stuff it doesn't seem sometimes the most glorious um but it frees up and it's a better it's better for us to do it for the community so that the deputies are free to do what they need to do I'm originally from Wisconsin a farm boy from Wisconsin what led me South out of Wisconsin is I decided that I wanted to try and make water skiing a living and and I was fortunate enough to be able to do that fun job if I could still do it and support my family I would still be doing it it's honestly the only job that I've ever had besides this one that I would do for free I am a respiratory therapist with Banner Health been working in respiratory for 19 years we manage the ventilators and the breathing machines that all the people need to be put on see somebody come in at their worst and help them through the process and watch them walk out of the hospital it's not always the case with every patient but there's nothing more rewarding than that knowing that you had a hand in Saving a life it allows me to unwind it allows me to see something different get out there and have fun I don't have a set schedule to do this I come out when I want I go home when I want the sheriff's department requires that we volunteer 16 hours a month we go through Academy just like the deputies do it's modified um not quite as much information as they get but we're still drinking out of a fire hose in the academy uh it's 3 months long we are as you can see dressed and look just like a regular Deputy we have no powers of arrest uh we act under the authority of the sheriff so we um assist deputies prisoner transport is is uh is important to this job because it from Santan Valley it's roughly 18 20 mi down to Florence and intake at the jail can be a lengthy process it leaves the citizens of the Val of Santan Valley short of Deputy so it's it's really really really important that we as posi members take those transports and do that for them so that they're able to get on to the next call it's fun to learn it's a lot of fun I enjoy doing this otherwise I wouldn't be putting in as many hours or I wouldn't have done it at all it's a blast these guys are like a family they truly are like a family [Music]
