How did you guys pay for the pizza? >> You had a credit card. >> What credit card? >> My friend's phone. Okay. >> I found a credit card on my phone. >> That's better. Okay. Very good. Where's the card at? So, you think it's cool to just use other people's credit cards or what? >> No. >> They use about,300 on my BJ's card so far. Some people are dumb enough to think that they can earn a fortune and shop freely with a stolen credit card without getting caught. But sooner than they expect, that illusion is replaced by a harsh, embarrassing, and humiliating reality the moment they are finally caught. >> And then there's another charge with unlawful use of a stolen credit card. Right. So that's another crime. >> [ __ ] up. I mean, you're you're running around stealing [ __ ] with credit cards. >> I didn't mean to. I just found it and I it was a stupid decision. Here are several moments when dumb thieves get caught shopping with stolen credit cards. Starting with Kayla, who was humiliated by the cops in the worst way anyone could imagine for trying to meet her lifelong desire of having a leisure stay in a luxury hotel [music] at the expense of a stolen credit card. >> She says that's not hers. If you want, you can take a look through there, see if there's anything that you What do you guys usually do with property that's left behind? >> What about uh the phone chargers yours? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. On December the 29th, 2022, in the call of the evening in Lee County, Florida, the management of a luxury hotel received a call from a woman identified as Katherine Gonzalez, reporting that she had just received an email receipt that her stolen credit card had been used to make payments at the hotel. The hotel management quickly checked their records and discovered that a guest identified as Mrs. Kayla had checked in the previous day and had paid with a card matching the same details Katherine Gonzalez had sent for verification. After this discovery, the management quickly made a 911 call and within a few minutes, officers from the Fort Meers Police Department arrived at the hotel. All this time, Kayla was still inside her luxurious apartment having the best time of her life. >> She says that's not hers. If you want, you can take a look through there, see if there's anything that you What do you guys usually do with property that's left behind? >> Um, we submit it and then if it's not collected >> Okay. Do you want us to look through it to make sure that there's no narcotics or anything in there before you take it for safety reasons? >> Yeah, for sure. >> Okay. If not, I would have to search it. >> Well, I'm already gloved up, so I figure I appreciate offer for you. I appreciate that. None of these clothes are yours >> cuz it was yours. I want you to keep your clothes. >> None of the remains. >> Okay. Well, I don't I'm not paying that close of attention to the clothes. >> All my clothes over there in the corner. >> What's that? Oh, my brother >> over here in the corner. >> Turn that blanket on the thing. >> Right here. >> So, all this is yours. What's in that blanket? >> What's in that bag? This is her clothes. Just a lot of clothes and shoes. >> Guess what? Safekeeping, I guess. >> Yeah, >> cuz the jail ain't going to take that. >> No. >> Okay. >> Leave all that. >> What about this? >> Throw that in later. >> You just want me to throw this in here and move in here? >> Well, can I have somebody come? >> So, like I don't know what their cost is, but they they know that you're the owner. So they might want you to come down and get it. So whenever you can get out and get it >> at some point when you're not in jail anymore, you have to have trust. >> Call us. >> Okay. >> So is that how you want to do this? >> Okay. I'll leave it here. >> One of you have right. Is that it? Is that you need to see Kayla had incurred expenses worth over $3,000, ranging from food orders to [music] hotel fees and luxury items she had bought during her stay. No doubt she had enjoyed the lavish lifestyle that came with owning a stolen credit card. >> My pants. there. >> Okay. >> I'm going to take you out of one handcuff. Get yourself squared away. >> Don't do anything weird, okay? Cuz if your day is not bad already, it's going to get a lot worse. Go ahead. All right. If you put your hands together like you're praying, this gets a lot more comfortable. There you go. >> Better. Sorry. Okay. Heat. Heat. In the end, she was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. Kayla was clearly horrible credit card thief. But she didn't even come close to Laura, a friendly fraudster who was so dumb that she thought all she needed to join the League of Big Spenders was to steal a credit card. >> And then there's another charge with unlawful use of a stolen credit card. Right. So that's another crime. >> I got arrested. They're taking me to jail. >> A lie. >> What? >> A lie. >> Stealing the card. On November the 9th, 2024 in Florida, officers arrived at a Louis Vuitton in Tampa after a report from a woman stating that her stolen credit card had been used to attempt a purchase at the store after receiving several transaction receipts within the last 24 hours. At first, it seemed like a tough case for the officers to crack, especially with the heavy foot traffic in and out of the store. However, after a quick investigation with assistance from the store manager, they were able to get the suspect identified as Laura, who had been accompanied by her sugar daddy and had attempted to use the reported stolen card for a purchase worth $3,870. >> All right. So, like I was saying, right, so obviously first I come to you, right, very nicely, right? Ask you just questions of what happened, stuff like that. At first you told me that you weren't in Louis Vuitton earlier and then you told me okay maybe you were there and then you told me um what you told me that you didn't make a purchase there then you finally came and say that you did make a purchase and then it changed to you okay you use your card and all that stuff right so let me tell you this I've been doing this for a long time right over almost 10 years right so it's not my first rodeo it's not the biggest crime of the century right it's still a felony crime right obviously I'm not there just because I just want to come over here, right? I obviously know what happens, right? Like I told you, there's cameras everywhere. Everything is logged. So, I'm we're not I'm not stupid, dumb, or slow, right? I'm pretty good at what I do, >> right? So, I've already told you what you did cuz I saw it with my own eyes on camera, right? So, I'm not naive or stupid. So, please don't try to challenge my intelligence, right? Cuz I know what happened, right? You walked inside, you used you picked up the bag, you went to the little counter thing, you inserted a card into the little mobile chip thing, right? You told the lady that your name was Laura, yada yada yada. The card gets declined, right? Not stupid, right? Not crazy. You also went to Nordstrom, purchased things from Nordstrom for $1,15.88 to know the exact number, right? Cuz why? So, I already know, right? So, what I'm going to do, I'm just going to read you your rights, right? Obviously, we're trying to we're going to start over a little bit, right? Because when we go to court, we don't want camera footage to show you how many lies that you told throughout the thing, right? Because it all, like I said, honestly, probably go the the better, you know, your better route, right? Um, so I'm going to read you your rights and we're just going to completely start over and I'm going to ask you questions again. >> Hopefully, you'll just be honest with me this time. Like I said, I already know what happened, but it's up to you what you want to do. You already gave me a statement which was all lies, right? So, I'm going to ask you another I'm going to read you your rights, ask you again. And if you want to be honest, it's up to you. If you want to make a statement, it's up to you. But right now, what I got is a whole bunch of lies from all the way from you don't even have your ID, which is simple. I don't know why you would even lie about that. So, we'll start over. Okay. We'll start over. We're start over. Just We're going to forget the past. We're going to start over. Okay. When was the last time you were arrested? >> Like last year, I think >> for what? >> It was in Vegas. um for trespassing at casino. >> Were you drunk? >> No, no, no. They just they stereotype girls a lot in Vegas for certain things. So, I got arrested once for that and then I went back to buy pizza and I was there for 5 minutes and then they're like, "Oh, you're trespassed." And then they freaking arrested me. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. Well, thank you for being honest. Uh give me a second. Okay. Let me figure out I got to look at your criminal history and all that stuff and then we'll go from there. >> Can I remind you? >> Yep. Go ahead. >> But just let you know I'm my name is Michael since all this has gone down. Um as a mall representative, we're going to transact you from the mall for a year starting today. Um so we come back again. >> Yeah, I'm not. >> Okay. I just I had to just tell you that. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. Appreciate it. >> As it stood, Laura was still hotaded, believing that she could still have her way out of the mess that she had made. So, here's the case number. Okay. That way you give to your bank. I just sent you a text message to your phone. Um, if you could check that what I just need from you right quick. If you can just screenshot the transaction, you know, from uh Nordstrom and do you have those text messages like the uh do they send you like text messages saying that it was being used at uh Louis Vuitton? >> It was a notification >> through like through the app. Yeah. So, she did uh kind of admit that she did find it in the parking lot of North. Are you parked over there? >> I was curious. >> And you or did you already lock the card and everything like that? Okay. >> So, you're going to have to uh get another card obviously cuz uh she said she threw it. >> Oh, she did? >> Yeah. So, no telling someone else picked it up. So, she she said once it didn't work, you know, at Louis Vuitton, she threw it down on the ground somewhere. Um, so I'm sure someone else has already picked it up, so just make sure it's locked. All righty. I hate this happened to you, but I'm glad we were able to quickly, you know, get on it. >> They were very unlucky because when I saw that, I was literally walking to the store >> and I purchased their security. >> They have to like they have to be there. >> Right. Right. >> I'll try and find that for you. >> Yep. If if you are able to then just you know same thing you can just click that link again and upload it again. >> She's going to jail. >> Oh yeah. Yeah. She's going to go to jail. Yeah. Especially that >> is that crime? >> It's a felony crime. So yes, it is uh >> is it physical like the amount that they try to >> Yeah. So well there's a couple things. So one is a felony theft, right? Cuz $1,000 of theft that she was actually able to deprive you with that is a you know a felony crime. Um, so over $728 or whatever it is now, that is a felony and obviously 1,000 is over that. So that and then there's another charge with unlawful use of a stolen credit card, right? So that's another crime. So we won't be it's it's kind of I don't know. I'll try to see if we can charge her with the the felony or the the theft at Louis Vuitton, but I don't know. I don't know if it'll stick because um it didn't go through. But we still have that charge where they the unlawful use of the you know solar part. So I mean that's still you know the crime. So um >> I don't know if it'll go through or not but we'll see. But yeah she is you know the felony crime though she is uh you know going through on that. So >> up until this moment Laura had no idea how bad things had gone off the rails for her. Not until she was allowed to have a phone call with her boyfriend. >> You want to call? You got to >> Is there any way you could take this off of me or a little bit more? >> Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. >> Okay. How do I do this? >> You're going to kind of swing your arms out or whatever. >> I'm going to call him and my mom after. Okay. >> Say it again. >> Can I call him and my mom after? >> Yeah. Go ahead. >> There's no way you can >> You're going to have to put it on speaker. >> What the [ __ ] >> Babe, I'm sorry you're on speaker right now. I'm really sorry for all of this. I didn't know this is going to happen or else I would have never did this. >> I'm not your call. >> What? >> I'm not your one phone call. >> What do you mean? >> I said it clear. >> What do you mean, babe? You can't record me. >> No. >> Are you serious? >> Yeah, I'm going home. >> What about everything? >> Tell you, man. It's up. I mean, you're you're running around stealing with credit cards. >> I didn't mean to. I just found it and I It was a stupid decision. >> Yep, it was. >> They're taking me to [ __ ] >> I don't know how I can help you. >> They can't help me bail me out tomorrow. >> No. >> Seriously? >> Yeah. Call your dad. >> They can't help me, babe. >> You have to. It's a family issue. >> They don't have it to help me. You got to deal with it. >> What do you mean? >> I said it clear. >> So, it's just [ __ ] >> You did a really stupid thing. Had a bad decision day. >> I was your ticket. Goodbye. >> At this point, Laura had no other option than to call her mother, whom she had been trying as much as possible [music] not to get involved in her mess. As it stood, she might have to spend only the night in jail or have an extensive stay. It all depends on the few minutes she would spend with her mom on the phone. >> Are you all done? >> I got to call my mom. Mom. >> Yeah. >> All right. Don't freak out. Okay. But I got arrested. You're taking me to jail. >> What? >> I stealing the card. I'm going to >> I'm going to need you to bail me out tomorrow. I'll give you the money, but I won't know anything until tomorrow. I guess I'm just letting you know and just can you watch the dog obviously for me please? >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> This is probably over or something. What jail am I going to? >> Orient road Jail. >> What is it? >> Orient. O R I E N T. >> Orient road. >> Yep. >> Orient road Jail. >> Where is that? >> Hillsboro County. >> Hillsboro County. Is it over here? Close to here? >> No, it's a little way. >> Where? How far? >> How far? >> Yeah, >> it's a good 20-minut ride. 30 minute drive. >> Is it in Tampa? >> Yep. Kind of. Yep. >> It's like 20 minutes away from the mall. >> Somebody call me and text me this information. >> No. >> So, it's the only only jail in Tampa. She >> It's just It's the only jail in Tampa. It's Orient Road. O R I E N T. >> Uh, can you just text it to me? Mom, I can't I can't text. I'm in handcuffs right now. This is my only >> All right. I'll give you the money tomorrow. Obviously, just I need your money out. >> All right. Bye. >> In the end, she was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. Unlike Laura. Laura and Corey were [music] so incredibly dumb. They thought that their one-time ticket out of their current financial mess was by [music] stealing a credit card. >> How did you guys pay for the pizza? Get a credit card. >> Okay. What credit card? >> Uh my friend's home. >> Okay. >> You definitely don't have her other cards with you. There should have been at least another one. >> On January the 9th, 2022, officers arrived at a pizza shop after one of the attendants [music] reported that he had observed suspicious activity. A guy named Cory and his girlfriend Gloria had just paid for their pizza with a credit card. And instantly, a regular customer called the shop to report that she had just received an alert on her phone that her card had just been used to purchase a pizza from the pizza shop. It became obvious that the card Cory and Gloria had used likely belonged to another customer. >> Somebody call from here. >> Is it these two? >> So, what's it used to? The lady that owns the car just calmed me down. >> After getting the full story from the attendant who made the call, the officers wasted no time moving in on the couple who are about to get into their car calmly, having no idea that the jig was up and what seemed like an easy night was about to fall apart fast. >> Hey, what's up, man? What's going on? >> You got an ID on you by chance? >> I do not. >> All right. I wasn't driving. >> You have an ID? I didn't ask you. We were driving. >> Oh, look. something. Just keep your hands out of your pockets for me. Okay, cool. Live in Margate. You live in Margate, too? >> Yep. >> What's your first name? >> O R Y. >> Okay. Last name? >> Nicholas. M I C H O L O L O L O L O L O L O L O L O L O L A S. >> Okay. How'd you guys pay for the pizza? >> With a credit card. >> Okay. What credit card? Uh >> my friend's phone. Okay. And where's your friend at? Uh, Laura. >> Laura. What's her last name? >> Really? >> You You realize you you realize I probably know the answers to the questions that I'm asking before, right? You want to You want to just be real or you want to keep going with the BS? >> I found a credit card on my phone. >> That's better. Okay, very good. Where's the card at? So, you think it's cool to just use other people's credit cards or what? >> No. >> All right. What if this was your card? >> I would be really upset. >> Huh? You were just hungry. We didn't >> What does that have to do with anything? >> It It doesn't. >> It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. >> You were just hungry. What kind of excuse is that? >> It's not an excuse. And I apologize. Sorry. >> You got any other cards on you that don't belong to you? >> Can I check? >> Come on. >> Huh? >> It's my card. >> Okay. Can I check? >> Sure. >> All right. I don't want you reaching in your burst. I'm asking you if I can check to make sure that you don't have any other cards that don't belong to you, you >> can. Okay. Very well. >> All right. You can just go inside. I'll talk to you in a few minutes. >> You have a good time at Walmart and Target. >> Just go inside. I'll talk to you in a minute. >> At that point, Gloria and Cory realized their luck had finally run dry. And all they could do was hope for a miracle. But for the officers, the couple had gotten too comfortable at the expense of a stolen card. >> All right, for now, just put your hands on your back. and you two tell us to figure this out. Huh? >> The second time. >> Yeah. All right. Have a seat on the wall. >> How'd you pay for the CVS cards? >> Huh? Your credit card. Hold on. One second. >> Phone belong to you? >> Yes. >> The wallet belong to you? >> Yes. >> You sure? >> Yes. >> Where's her wallet? >> My phone's wallet. >> Where's her wallet? >> Hm. Where is it? >> Your card. No, I didn't say about it. >> You didn't? That's what it sounded like to me. >> What's your middle initial? >> S. >> S like Sierra. >> Sean. >> Sean. All right. Let me ask you a question. I'm not asking for consent at the moment, but if I asked you for consent to search your vehicle, would you give consent? >> You definitely don't have her other cards with you. There should have been at least another one. >> No. Up until this moment, the officers only knew the couple had used a stolen card to purchase a pizza and probably made other payments elsewhere. They had no idea how extravagantly the couple had spent [music] using the credit card. Despite the credit card owner having already expressed her anger moments earlier, the officers approached the card owner who gave a detailed account of the damage Glorian Corey had caused her. >> How did this all start? [music] Did you lose your wallet? >> I was at McDonald's. I left it in the bathroom right here. >> I left my wallet. I turned around, went back in. It was gone. >> So 411 was the first charge on the BJ's master card. Okay. >> Yeah. Like I can show you my emails. Discover like I've been canceling all >> what was what was the amount here? [music] >> 38 and change. Um I had to freeze my American Express. >> So here >> uh 3867 >> 3867. >> This Walmart they tried to hit me. This is where >> uh this one is the one in >> I can get location. Do you want me to call the credit card companies and get locations? >> If you can um I'll get you a sheet of paper or something. Get a scrap paper or anything. If you want to just itemize what to the best that you can, times and locations, cuz if it happened in another jurisdiction, they either one, they could respond here or more than likely they'll probably just forward it to their detectives. I'll probably end up charging her tonight and then they can follow up on other charges and other >> cuz um they they hit my that card that they have. It's a gray card with a check mark on it and on the back it'll say DJ's purse. >> That's the one that was used here. that was used here. And that one they hit for over $1,000. They hit liquor stores, Targets, Walmarts. >> Okay. [music] The main thing I need from you if you can for me is >> locations and times. And when they tell you, hey, Walmart, which Walmart, which Target, which cuz then what I can do is I can forward everything and get other jurisdictions involved cuz each time they do a transaction is a separate charge. At this point, the officers had gotten a clearer picture of how much damage Gloria and Cory had actually done. It would have been premature to jump to conclusions without verifying the owner's claims. After all, there was still a chance the reported losses might have been exaggerated. And for justice's sake, every detail need to be properly confirmed before moving forward. >> How did this all start? >> I went into the women's bathroom and I saw a wallet on the changing table. >> Okay. Can you describe the wallet? I describe the wallet. >> Can you describe it like local color? What was it? A brand name? >> It was a black wallet. >> A black what? >> Coach. >> Coach. There are certain things that I have discretion on. Okay. And honesty is important. All right. It usually goes a long way. Most people that I deal with lie to me on a constant basis. Okay. So far, you've been pretty forthcoming. Okay. But so let's continue that trend of honesty that you've had. Okay. Were you at your house when he got to your house? >> Yes. >> Okay. And then you just left him there. >> Yes, I did. And I went to McDonald's with my daughter. >> Okay. He wasn't there. So if I go check the cameras in McDonald's, he's not going to be on the video. >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Yes. >> Right. Okay. >> Yes. Absolutely. He was. >> So when did he like become aware that you had cards that were not yours? >> I called him and I told him. You were on your way home? >> Yeah, after I picked up my sorry, after I dropped off my daughter. >> Where did you drop your daughter off? >> At her dad's house in Plantation. >> Okay. Um, >> I went with her to the Target in Plantation and I bought things there. >> Okay. What did you buy there? >> Um, I bought her a toy and clothing for myself. Are you are you working right now? >> Um, yeah, you are. >> I have a full-time job at Alli Doors, South Florida. >> Now, where? >> Alli Doors, South Florida. So, garage door company. >> What I mean, are you hard up on money? I'm not trying to get into your personal business, but >> Yeah, I am. I just scrunched up all my money to pay my rent. >> Okay. >> Just yesterday. >> Okay. So, where's the Target plantation that you went to? Um, that is by the Broward Mall, Westfield Broward. >> Okay. And about what time was that? More. That doesn't have to be exact. >> About five. >> How much was that? >> 300. >> 300. About what time was that? >> Okay. Um, and he wasn't with you at that point. Are we sure? >> Yeah. >> You've been super honest so far, so I just want to make sure. I'm just trying to establish the whole story. Are you sure he wasn't with you? I'm very good friends with the old loss preventions girl over there. She can hold a video and if I see him walk in with you, all your credibility is going to go out the window. Your face says it all, so you [music] might as well just tell me. So if you're saying the laptop's from Margate Walmart and So what did you do? You went and dropped that off and then went to Coral Springs Target cuz I thought you said you went from Walmart to Target. Yeah, I dropped it off. >> You dropped it off first. And what about does Dollar Tree play in here somehow? >> Dollar Tree or Dollar General. One of those. >> Dollar? >> Yes. >> Okay. Which dollar? That was Margie, right? Which which one? >> Oh, this one right here. >> Yeah. >> Did you hit that before CVS or after? >> After. >> After. So, you went CVS, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, whatever it is. And then here >> I do. Where do you work at? I enjoy South Florida. >> You know, all these places with cameras and every transaction recorded. >> Yeah. I I honestly can't tell you why. I've been struggling. I I don't know. I don't I really don't feel like I have any excuses at this point, but I've been struggling and only and able to pay bills and food and that's it. It does say a lot that you've been very very forthcoming with me, which I do appreciate. Um, >> and I appreciate it. >> There's nothing. >> I don't think she's going to be able to wal. So, did you take the whole wallet? >> Yeah. >> You took the whole wallet and then >> I threw it out the window. I already had somebody go >> Oh, you threw it out the window. You took the cards out and then threw the wallet out the window. >> You know, did you happen to see what else was in there? I just saw there was a bunch of cars. >> Questions for right now? >> No, thank you. I appreciate it. >> All right, just have a seat for a couple more minutes and we'll get it wrapped up here pretty soon. >> Gradually, what seemed [music] like a complicated situation was becoming clearer after hearing from the card owner and Gloria. Still, something was missing. Cory hadn't given his side of the story yet. And at this point, all Gloria could do was hope whatever Cory was about to tell the officers would be in line with her confession. >> I'm still really don't know all. >> You know what's going on, man. You just don't want to tell me what's going on. >> I just I don't know what to say. >> Well, listen. What if I told you that this lady, the victim, has a timeline store by store of what places that you guys went to and utilized her carts. Uh, I would say okay, but her and I only were together for the last maybe couple hours. >> Okay. How many stores did you go with this young lady? >> Uh, I'm here. >> Okay. How many stores here >> and then I'm here? >> We were at CVS. >> Okay. >> And then I'm here at the pizza place. >> You didn't go anywhere before that? >> No. >> So, if I go look at the video that this victim gives me, the timeline of Walmart, >> Target, uh, etc., etc. I'm not going to see you on the video. Let's go. [music] Come on, man. Don't lie straight to my face, man. Come on. I'm very tight with the loss preventions officer at Walmart, and I will have her send me a clip of a video right now. >> I can't even remember. No, this is like before 2010. I haven't been arrested or in trouble in well over a decade. >> Did you purchase anything for yourself? >> No. H >> I don't know. Just swipe the cards. You or her? >> Her. >> You don't sound too sure. >> I mean, >> again, I'm going to pull the video, man. So, just you might as well just be straight up. H >> every time CVS, Walmart from Just when the officers thought that he had seen enough evidence and heard enough statements to close the case on Glory and Cody, the car owner still visibly shaken. and running on pure frustration, stormed out of the shop with more proof in hand. >> Okay, so >> these two cards, >> do you know? Okay, these are both master cards. She said the discover Do you know if the discover charge went through? >> A couple of them did. >> Okay, cuz she said the discover she threw away cuz it wasn't working. >> The one target >> worked. >> Worked. And there's my credit one. There's the master card. Yeah. Well, BJ's doesn't have a um Well, obviously it's mine, but they don't have an app. >> No, that's fine. >> So, I'm on with them. >> That's fine. She I mean, I have most of the places that she went to, >> but they went to a liquor store. >> Got that. >> Um they went to Target's Walmarts. >> Two Walmarts. >> Oh, plural for sure. >> Okay. >> Um one in Sun the 441. >> I'll tell you the timeline that I have right now in YouTube. This Walmart >> right here. >> I might have missed that one. >> They went to that one as well. >> That one should have been prior to the Coral Springs T. >> Yeah, they went to that one right after they got my wallet. >> It's literally the McDonald's is there, but Walmart's right there. >> And then she dropped that off. >> She's claiming that she threw it out the window at Atlantic and 441. I had three officers go look for it. So far, no luck. She would have been wanting probably my purse and it's like threw out by her best market. So she just threw it out the window. >> Yeah. >> So unfortunately >> there's a bus stop there too. >> Unfortunately, you know what all other than credit cards? What else did you have? An ID, >> my license, my social pictures of my mother, my father. unfortunately >> like that I'll never get back >> ever. The Target Discover went through, but this is one of the the totals. They used about 1,300 on my BJ's card so far. >> At the moment, regret had clouded their world, but unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to reverse the hand of time. >> All right, hop up for me. Nothing on your person that if I have a female come pat you down. >> Nothing. All right. Can I check real quick? >> Check your pocket. >> No or nothing like that. >> No, it's good. >> All right. Relax your hands. I'm just going to fix these a little bit. Nothing in your bra either or nothing like that when I have a sergeant come over here and check you. >> I don't have anything. >> I just got to ask. You've been straight with me so I don't you know >> Can I tell you the truth about something? >> How long it is at my house? >> I thought that if I said I had her wallet still I was going to get in more trouble. But >> well, it's honestly it's whether you have it or not is not your idea. It's at my house on the element. >> I appreciate it. Believe it or not, for her, you know how you said >> everything is there. >> Okay, listen. So, you know how you said to me that you know what's done is done. Whatever. There's nothing you can do to change it. Believe it or not, by you telling me that it changes a lot because it doesn't change your charges. Okay? Cuz what's done is done. Whether you're in possession of it still or not doesn't change your charges. you're not getting had charged with anything. You're actually going to be much more likely for the victim to have a lot of mercy on you because pictures of her mother and father who passed away are in that wallet. So, the fact that you have that is going to have I'm sure we don't determine what your charges I mean we don't necessarily determine like what your penalties are, your charges are. So, I'm sure the victim when she goes to court later is going to be a lot more merciful when she realizes she's going to get her. You know what I'm saying? Right. >> Cuz he was with me. >> He was with you. He's got the receipts. I think he has plenty of knowledge of what happened, too. So, he's not quite as honest as you are. One second. Let me get this. You'll learn. You'll listen. One and done. Okay. Most of the people I deal with are repeat. Huh? One and done, right? You're going to go down. You're going to see the judge in the morning. You're going to bond out. You probably be home by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. Okay. But right now, we're going to go to the police station. You guys are going to hang out in the car. Once we get there, if you want to take your seatelt off and do your best to relax. All right. At least it's kind of cool out tonight. I'll crank the air up for you. Um, I got to type some paperwork. So, I'm going to stand up my car and type and you know, um, you guys can >> My car is sending to >> uh, yeah, cuz we got to get we're going to get a search warrant for it. In the end, they were charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. Still on dumb thieves getting caught shopping with stolen credit cards. Here is Quenicia Mason, an internet-based credit card scammer who is super smart to stay a step ahead of the [music] cops for months. You need to work with us because obviously we don't want your kids going and hanging out in the 11th district police station cuz you're you're not going back to the 11th district. You're coming with us. All right. Do you want us to take your keys? Do you want us to give them your name? >> I'll take them with you. >> I take them with you. >> Okay. We'll we'll take them with you. On October the 13th, 2025, just less than 1 hour before noon in Chicago, officers arrived at the house of a young lady identified as Kenisha, who had been on the run for weeks for masterminding one of the most sophisticated credit card scams of all time. Would be important to note that Kenishha didn't steal a physical card. Rather, she had [music] purchased some stolen credit card information from the dark web and used it to make purchases from multiple stores and platforms as well as to pay her bills. For months, Kenisha had seemed to be a ghost in the system, staying one step ahead, despite multiple attempts by the cops and officers from the Special Investigations Unit to track her through her phone and other means. But on this fateful day, officers from the Special Investigations Unit and the Chicago Police Department finally located where she used to live and [music] what followed next would be one of the darkest moments of her life. >> I'm Eric. I'm the guy who you talk to. Okay, you don't need to cry. Do you have your ID on you or in the car? Want to grab it for me real quick? Just want to make sure I'm out talking to the right. >> How you doing? >> I appreciate it. I understand you're upset right now. Okay. >> Well, we talk a little bit so the kids can't see us. Just over here. Okay. All right. Like I said, I'm going to work with you. Okay. Because you're cooperative. You're not giving me a hard time. As long as that stays that way. Okay. Come up here. As long as it stays that way. All right. You keep not giving me a hard time. We'll work through this. Okay. Like I told you before, I'm a detective with Bartlett. All right. We came a long way to come see you. All right. Obviously, we're here for a very specific reason. We didn't come upon uh upon you by chance, but what I can tell you is I know you didn't nobody. Okay? This isn't the worst thing in the world, but we have a job to do. We have to do our job here. Okay? All right? So, if you work with me, we'll work with you. All right? But you are going to be taken into custody today. Now, that doesn't mean that you're going to be stuck in jail overnight. All right? and you need to work with us because obviously we don't want your kids going and hanging out in the 11th district police station cuz you're you're not going back to the 11th district. You're coming with us. All right? But if you work with us, even if we get you charged, okay? More than likely, you're going to be released today on your own recgnizance. You're not going to have to pay any bond, anything like that. You'll be able to come back home, all right? And come back and see your kids. All right? Like I was telling you before though, if we stretch this process out too long, okay, then we have to get the warrant for you. That's a detainer warrant. and you sit in jail for a couple days and nobody wants that, especially over some low-level stuff right here. >> So, can can we work together and I can have your cooperation? Okay. I know you said you don't have anybody, but I know there's somebody you can call >> my partner, he's locked up and my my mother passed away. I literally don't have >> You have Do you know your neighbors, your friends? There's got to be somebody. >> I don't even stay right here no more. I I stay around the corner. >> All right. Cuz the name still says Mason on it. >> I just moved. That's why I was able to come around the corner. I stay on um 12th in St. Louis. >> 12th in St. Louis. Okay. There's nobody at your house right now. >> Nobody. I I literally take care of my kids myself. >> Okay. Because obviously we might have to call DCFS and and that's it's not really prevable. So, if there's a trusted friend or something like that, >> I don't have one. And what's the what's the issue? >> Okay. Well, we'll have a conversation when we're in more uh professional setting. Okay. All right. I'm I'm giving you an opportunity here cuz we're going to have to take care of your kids one way or another. Okay. All right. Is there there's got to be somebody we can call. You got your phone in the car? I'll let you grab that. >> I would like to discuss what it's about. Don't tell me. >> We are going to discuss that. >> At that moment, Kenishha was stuck between a rock and a hard place. It was clear she was headed to jail, and her children would have to deal with the fallout. She was smart, no doubt about it, and she had always managed to talk her way out of tight spots before. But this time around, she would need more than tricks to see her through the reality that was right before her. >> Don't they'll park it. Go ahead and jump out. the park. >> All right. So, when we got who's we're going to get the info for who's watching the kids. We'll get a contact number for you. >> Who are they to you? >> Those are my neighbors. I ring the doorbell. You guys >> here? We'll we'll we'll give it to him. Fishia, come on. Come on this way. All right. Come on over here real quick. I want to get you out of view of your kids. >> Your phone number 312. >> I've got your phone number. I just called. Go ahead and set your stuff on the car right there. Okay. All right. I need you to place your hands behind your back for a minute. All right. You are under arrest right now. All right. All right. This officer right here is going to search you. Female. You're a female. All right. And then when we put you in our car, what we're going to do is we're going to put a belt on you so you don't have to sit on handcuffs. Okay. Cuz it's about an hour ride back to Bartley. You understand? >> Bartlet. >> Bravo 51. Mark one adult female. Um, do you have anything on your person in your purse that you shouldn't have that's illegal, that's dangerous, that might hurt or uh injurous? Nothing. >> Okay. >> Do you have anything in here you need or you want us to leave it with your neighbors? >> Okay. I'm going to check to make sure there's nothing illegal in here. All right. Just cash. You don't need anything in here? >> No. >> It's cash and some weird. That's it. All right. >> What's it? >> Cuz she want them to have the keys to her. >> Your neighbor. >> Do you want us to take your keys? Do you want us to give them to your neighbor? >> I'll take them with you. >> I take them with you. Okay. We'll we'll take them with you. >> Can you just lift up your shoulders just to lock the door? Where does she have the key fob in there? >> The key fob is in the car. >> Where is it at? I didn't see it. >> I didn't see it. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I got the car. Don't worry about it. >> Okay. We're going to walk you back to our car real quick. And like I said, I'll throw you in that belt. >> Huh? Um, they can bring my key just to get my purse and my phone. I mean, I need my phone. You get my purse. >> Okay. Hey, Adrian. Her purse. Could you just give it to him? >> I'll walk you to the passenger side here. Like I said, we got a belt we're going to throw on you so that way you can not sit on the cuffs all the way back. >> Okay. Hold on. Before you get in there. >> Yeah. And we're going to switch it to the front. Get that. Open this up here. There we go. >> I'm going to release the cuffs. Okay. All right. It'll be fine. I mean, it just folds over itself, so that'll be good. All right. When I take this handcuff off, put it on top of your head. Okay. Your hand for me. >> Same thing with this one. Just go ahead and put it on top of your head for me, please. This hand down. Just like that. Same thing here. >> It's not too tight. >> No, it's fine. >> Go ahead and have a seat. >> In the end, she was taken to the station where she confessed it was her first time, and she gave a detailed breakdown of how the web-based credit card scam operated. However, she was still charged with credit card fraud, which falls under a class A misdemeanor. Just when we thought that we had seen the most dumbest thieves shopping [music] with stolen credit cards, none come close to Shaquanda who took her family for shopping at the expense of a stolen credit card. >> And I had put like my keys somewhere like right on top of like something I was looking for and then when I went to go get them, they were gone. >> But what happened after you took the keys? >> Um, I went and made a purchase. >> I just needed to find this. This belongs to the victim >> and that's it. >> Oh, two credit cards. >> It was two two cars and AND $50. OH, ON JUNE THE 14TH, 2024 in Florida, officers received a distress call from a young woman reporting from a mall that her key, which was attached to her mini wallet containing all her credit cards, had been stolen. When officers arrived at the mall and approached her for questioning, the officer got to understand the [music] reason why her voice had been sharp and frantic over the phone. >> Hello, how are you? >> I'm good. And you? >> Good, good. Um, so tell me what happened. Okay. So, we were at Paxton and I had put like my keys somewhere like right on top of like something I was looking for and then when I went to go get them, they were gone. >> Your keys? >> Yeah. Like my my Well, I think it was >> so it had like money in it, all my cards like uh my work key. >> Okay. >> And um >> inside Paxton, right? >> Yeah, this is inside Paxton. Okay. >> And then um yeah, like they were stolen. And then I the only reason I noticed is cuz like I got a notification from my bank that somebody had bought something from Foot Locker. >> Okay. >> So I ran to Foot Locker. When I walked into Foot Locker, they were there. >> Okay. >> But I didn't recognize them. >> After a quick surveillance of the perimeter, the officers located the suspect [music] who was casually shopping with her family with a credit card as if she had just hit the jackpot. As the officers moved in, she noticed them approaching and instantly realized that she was in trouble. Before she could even think of running away with her family, it was already too late. >> Right now, follow my instructions and I'll explain everything to you. You understand what I'm saying? How about a credit card? >> I got my own. >> Can I go make my birthday? Man for no reason, bro. Right here. Investigation. >> 10 or what? >> You got to be the PS. Come on, baby. >> Put the baby in the stroller. Huh? >> Get the baby in the stroller. There you go. I need your wallet. >> I'm going right now. You need to right. >> So, where we going with my wallet? >> Right there. It's right there where you stood. >> The male subject. >> This was the third time officers had received a report like this within a few weeks. And this time, they were determined to make an example out of the duo. >> I'm open for my baby. Okay, listen. >> Ma'am. Ma'am, we ask you to stay over here. Now, we're going to put you in the car, right? >> Asking you to stand still. >> There you go. Right here. I'm not moving. >> I'm going to bring my car. I'm going to put a second. >> I'm asking you to stand still. You can move it around. If you can't do that, it don't matter. It don't matter. That's not the problem. We're asking you to stand still. You can't be walking around doing this and that. You're going to go in the car. >> Okay. So, have a seat over here or stand over here. >> I'm just sweating. That's fine. >> Okay, that's fine. I'mma I'm going to go ahead and pat you down then. >> Okay, >> stand. Hold on. Hold on. Okay, stop. Stop. You're doing You're doing way too much. >> Stand over here. >> You're trying to take your jacket off. >> All right. >> There are your pants and that's why you're hiding them in your clothes. Stand over here. >> No, >> they're investigating right now. So, have a seat. >> I'm That's why I'm moving around. >> Okay. Well, I I I'm not going to take off a cuff right now. You're moving around way too much. So, just a >> say the cuff. I'm talking about my jacket. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Is this a way to give you some water, please? >> I don't have any water on me. >> I am. Can you wrap my hair up for me? >> Can you do me >> here? Just have a seat. Okay. No, I'm not going to give you no candy and no phones. Just have a seat. >> Just have a seat. >> Ma'am, you hear me talking to you? Have a seat. >> I don't have to sit down. I'm hot. >> Okay. Well, I can't have you. You're walking up and down. No, you are. You're over there. You're over here. You're going to go in the car next. >> Give me one of your candies. >> We're not going to have no candies. No. I told you like five times already. >> All right, you're going to have to take a seat. Take a seat, please. >> Can you open up your car just so I can open the door so you can have a seat? >> It's all right. I'm I'm going to leave the door open. Just have a seat right here. >> Okay. Well, I'm not going to tell you again, though, cuz I'm getting arrested. >> Okay, listen to me. Look at me real quick. >> Your daughter's here. So, going to make it happen for you. Don't play games with me right This is so nice. >> Your daughter is going to go with him. You're going to get inside. Look at me. Look at me. Hello. Is that her father? You're going to get in the police car without causing a problem. >> Yes, sir. >> Get in the police car now. >> So, I'm getting arrested. >> Get in the police car now. Walk over here. >> He said I'm getting arrested. >> Listen to me. >> Your baby's right here. >> Sit inside of the police car. Okay. Sit inside the police car. Nobody's leaving until we say it's time to go. Did you double lock her? >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Sit inside the car. >> Stop talking. Stop. >> My baby. >> We are in control of this. Okay. Nobody's going to do nothing until we say so. Get inside the car. >> Sit inside the car correctly. >> So, I'm not >> Watch your legs. >> The officers couldn't quite fathom why a credit card thief would be so uneasy. What they didn't know was that Shaquanda was locked in her own internal battle. She was torn between coming clean about how she got the missing [music] card or spinning a convincing yarn that might reduce her charges. >> Why is this in your in your purse? >> Okay. Um I'm going to be honest. I was like walking out of the store after I was looking for like a shirt to get. >> What store? >> Um pack. >> Okay. >> And I seen the keys on the floor. >> Mhm. >> And instead of me being honest, I took the keys. >> Okay. And I'm not like that, honestly. >> Okay. >> And I know that I did a bad decision, >> but what happened after you threw the keys? >> Um, I went and made a purchase. >> Where at? >> Okay. And then what? >> That was it. >> That was it. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Well, thank you for being honest with me. Okay. Let me uh let me talk to my officers over here and just sit tight. Okay. >> Can I ask you a question? >> What? >> Would I be arrested? Can I get a promise to appear police? I'm going to I'm going to figure that out now. Shanda. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Anything you want to tell me about the cash? >> Yes, sir. >> How about this? Sir. Yes. >> What do you want to tell me about this? What's that? >> You want to go to jail? >> What? I'm asking a question. Tell me about this. >> This is not yours. Okay. You sure? Right. >> Yes. The dollars are mine. >> The dollars. But you don't recognize this. [clears throat] This is not yours? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Why is it in your wallet? I did, like I said, instead of being honest, I went inside someone's things that didn't belong to me and I took it out. >> Okay. All right. >> All right. All right. So, I got your card, your your license. Okay. These are >> those are the young >> these are the person that reported the the the thing. Okay. So, I'm going to give this back to her. >> Please, can I get a >> She's going to she's going to do a search on you. Okay. Real quick. She's got to pass you really quick. Okay. >> I'm going to jail. Uh either way, you're still you're still under arrest right now. Whether you go whether it's a PTA, you go to jail, it's still it's still an arrest. Okay. >> So, you can just please your kids. She's safe right now. She's with the daddy. She's She's the father, right? >> Please. >> All right. Give me a moment. I'm going to check I'm I'm going talk to my sergeant and I'll tell you now what's going to happen. Okay. Give me like 2 minutes. Let me go talk to him. I'll come right back. Okay. All this while, Manuel had been separated from Shaquanda and subjected to a series [music] of tense interrogations. Fortunately for him, the cops believed that he was innocent at least. This meant he would be allowed to go home with their child, although such a conclusion often comes with certain conditions. >> Huh. >> Is he good to go or? >> Yeah, he's good to go. I just needed to find this. This belongs to the victim. >> And that's it. >> Oh, two credit cards. >> It was two two cars and AND $50. >> OH, >> WHAT'S YOUR NAME, SIR? >> My name. >> Let me see. You trespass from your Okay, that means you uh Yeah, I get it back. >> All right, thank you. >> That means that you can't come back. >> I can't come >> at least for a year. Okay, after look, >> some of them >> after it's okay. >> After a year, then uh they'll forgive you. But for right now, >> you're going to go. >> At this point, uncertainty had finally given way to [music] clarity. And it was only a matter of minutes before Shaquanda would be locked up in the Gray Bar Hotel, far from home. Just when the officers were about to wrap up the scene, they realized that Shaquanda and Manuel each had a version of themselves they had been holding back all this while. >> Fresh. >> Hey, I need to speak with him as as far as with my keys and stuff. So, what I'm being arrested right now. >> All right. Step out. Step out real quick for me. I'm going to just spot you down here. >> Fresh. >> All right. Listen. Okay. Okay. No. No. No. No. >> Come out. >> All right. Right there. Spread your feet real wide. Come out. >> Me. So, there's two things. All right. Felony. So, you got to get the ride. All right. >> Where's the baby? >> All right. Listen. Pay attention. He's talking. He's talking to you. He's talking to you. >> You understand? Okay. If not, I will PTA, but not with the fraud. I can't do it. Okay. >> I was thinking this right now. So, right now, don't don't disall the conduct. Don't don't dis. Get inside the car. Close the door. Hey, you get out of here. That's it. We're done. >> You heard me. >> My keys. Get inside the car. Don't give him nothing, >> man. Get inside the car. >> Get inside the car, man. I'M SORRY. YOU AIN'T GIVING ME A CHANCE TO GET IN THE CAR. >> GET INSIDE THE CAR. >> LET ME GET IN THE CAR. >> Get inside the car. >> GET IN THE CAR. >> INSIDE the car. >> WHY YOU PUSHING ME, BRO? >> Get inside the car. >> Get inside the car. >> You back. You ain't going to say I for you. >> Get inside the car. I'm not trying to fight you. Get inside the car. >> STEP IN THE CAR, BRO. >> YOU DON'T TRY TO SAY THAT I touch you, bro. >> Why you don't say? >> Clear. >> Clear before you got arrested, too. I've already told you three times. I said, "But that's my that's my that's my own daughter with your baby." >> You got 2 SECONDS TO CLEAR CUZ YOUR going to jail next. >> I'm in jail on a Friday night. >> In the end, she was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen credit card, petty theft, resisting arrest without violence, and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
