Customer service said there's a little kid running around screaming and crying. >> Where's your daughter? >> She's at home. I'm trying to apologize but people keep lying. >> They came in, you weren't here. Your daughter was by herself. So, were you gone or were you in here? >> I have no idea literally. >> And you don't remember your daughter being here at all last night? >> On August 7th, 2025 officers responded to a hotel after staff reported a young child wandering the hallways alone and crying. Housekeeping located the child and escorted her to the lobby before discovering the room she had come from appeared empty. But when officers entered that room for a welfare check, what they found inside made it clear why no one had come looking for her. >> Hi. Morning. I'm Officer Goodluck. Are you Riley? >> Yes, sir. >> Nice to meet you. What's going on? >> Um so, this morning I got a call from my work. Customer service said there's a little kid running around screaming and crying. Next thing I know, my housekeeping was walking down with her. Housekeeping walked into the room, nobody was in there, it was just her, a towel, and a bag of chips. Next thing you know, we're over here trying to figure out I'm calling the registration number. And it was her grandmother. She gave me her number. I called her and it was her grandmother. They both said one said her and one said her. So, what next thing you know, there should be a lady called Rose 25. Her aunt invited her. >> From Bloomfield, right? >> Yes. And now housekeeping went back into the room to double check it. She is in there in 152 but she is unresponsive and big small. >> Okay. When did the initial call come out that there was a kid wandering around? >> 8:11. >> 8:11 you said? Okay. And then she housekeeping found her and brought her down here? >> Yes. So, she's just in the back of the service area right now. >> And when housekeeping went to the room there was nobody else in there with her? >> At the time but at 8:11, yes. Now, she's in there not responsive. >> Okay. All right. We'll go talk with the kid. Morning. >> Good morning. I'm housekeeping. >> Housekeeping. Okay. McKay? >> McKay. >> How you doing, McKay? How old are you? Five? Who's the registered Have you guys seen Dwayne? And then Rose Thomas come from Bloomfield to pick her up. And that's aunt. How long have they been staying at the hotel for? >> I believe she's the night. >> Just the night? >> Yeah, the registration is just for one night. >> Okay. Maybe you want to stay with the kid and I'll go and talk to mom or whoever. >> say non-responsive, like she's not answering the door or she's just passed out drunk? >> She passed out or just not answering? >> She's passed out cuz I tried >> Okay. Yeah, I think one of you guys come with me just in case we need to open it and do a welfare check on her. Okay. How long ago did you check on her? >> Um I was just there 5 minutes ago. I tried to wake her She wasn't there at the first time I checked. >> Okay. So you just went in and you saw the child in there? >> I saw a kid. She was out in the hall. I thought she got locked out, so we let her back in and I checked to see if there was anybody. There was nobody with her. So I assumed her mom or parents were at breakfast. Took her down there and she didn't have She didn't see anybody. >> Okay. Okay, so when you first showed up she was out in the hall, so you thought maybe she got locked out of her room. And then you took her to breakfast. Wasn't there and then you came back and opened the room. >> Opened the room and the mom was there. >> Okay. Wait, so the the first time when you came, did you open the door, too? >> Yes. >> And nobody was in there? >> No. >> Okay. >> The second time and she was there. >> What was the time delay from the first to the second time when you opened the door? >> I don't know, maybe 7, 6 minutes. >> Okay. So as far as you can tell, she wasn't really left for very long. Okay. >> 35 minutes later she started screaming. Yeah, I'll knock on it first. Police Department. All right, we can open it. Make sure she's okay. >> Housekeeping. >> Hey, Farmers Inn police. Ma'am, wake up. Can you wake up? Police Department. Hi there, are you all right? >> Yeah. >> What the heck are you doing? >> What's your checkout time? >> I don't know about your checkout time. What's that? Where's your daughter? >> She's at home. >> Okay, how old is she? >> She's like 2. >> She's 2? >> She should be with my my grandma in Oakland. >> How many kids do you have? >> One. >> And Makai is 2 years old? >> Yeah, she should be with my dad, Malcolm. >> What's your grandma's name? >> Sanny. >> Sanny? Okay, we have her in the lobby. And she's not 2 years old. How old is she? >> My grandma? >> No, your daughter. >> My daughter is only 2. >> Where's Dwayne at? Yeah, is there a Dwayne that's staying here? Is it just you? >> It was just me and my sister. But my sister had to leave. I was supposed to be at my mom's place right now. >> Drink a little bit last night? >> Last night, yeah. >> Yeah. How long have you been here for? >> Since last night. >> Since last night. What time did you guys check in? >> I would say like maybe 8:00 or 9:00 ish last night. >> You and your sister? >> Yeah. >> What's your sister's name? >> Maleia. >> Maleia, where's she at? >> She's at their in Colorado. She checked in my mom's court long time ago with my little sister. >> But she checked in last night with you guys? >> Yeah. >> And then what time did she leave? >> Um like around 6:00 or 7:00 this morning. >> Do you know what time it is right now? Where is Makai supposed to be? >> With Malcolm. >> In Bloomfield, right? >> No, she's supposed to get picked up this morning. I was supposed to get picked up this morning. >> So you and your daughter are supposed to get picked up this morning. So she's not supposed to be in Bloomfield. She's supposed to be with you here. >> Yeah, but last night she was supposed to be in Bloomfield. night. >> Last night she was supposed to be or >> Yeah, she was supposed to be. So, I'm pretty sure they picked her up and dropped her off here. >> So, whenever you checked in, did you have your daughter with you? >> my daughter. So, I was with I was with her son, but we had my son. >> So, when you checked in, who was your daughter with? >> With my daughter. >> At what point did she show back up here, Makai? >> I'm not too sure. >> How intoxicated did you guys get last night? >> A lot. >> Were you guys drinking here or >> at my house. >> So, the reason why we're here is obviously we got your daughter over in the lobby and she's She said she's 2 years old, so that's concerning, right? Housekeepers come in here and check on you guys because your daughter's out in the hallway. They come in here and nobody's in here. So, where were you at? Where were you at during that time, ma'am? When >> laying obviously laying here. >> Well, no, they said they came in and they said nobody was in here. >> I was laying here. I don't I don't remember nothing. I just remember you waking me up and I'm like, "What's going on?" >> Well, they came in here about maybe 30 minutes ago because your daughter was outside. They came in and you weren't here. Your daughter was by herself. So, were you gone or were you in here? >> I have no idea, literally. I literally woke up when you were saying right here. >> Well, Rose, I don't know her relation to you. I think it's your aunt. Oops. Rose is on her way right now. >> Where's your mama? Is she sleeping? Do you need your diaper changed? Are you wet? Well, I think your auntie's going to come pick you up, okay? You want some more donuts? You want some? You want a wet Those are cute little pink donuts to match your pajamas, huh? How did you guys get a hold of an aunt? >> Um, I called the registration number. It was another grandma who lives in Alabama. >> Oh. >> And I said, "Is there another number I can contact you by?" I got another number. It was another Alabama number. >> Okay. Cool. >> And then she called right back after I called the non-emergency and she said, "Okay, Rose's home. Her aunt's going to come pick her up." >> Perfect. Hey, are there any diapers in that room? Cuz I think her diaper's really wet. >> Uh not that I'm seeing. Do you have any diapers for your daughter? No diapers? No, there's none in here. >> Okay, thanks. >> All right, so you guys showed up here last night, you and your sister. You didn't have your daughter at that time. She's supposed to be with her grandma Fanny in Bloomfield. >> She was supposed to be at the Jimmy center to pick up my mom. I was going to her graduation at 10. >> Okay. >> And I was going to pick up my daughter. >> You guys started drinking and then at some point during the night your daughter showed up back here. >> Honestly, I really don't know cuz I remember just being out with my sister the whole time. >> Was there any intention or plan of your daughter coming back to the hotel room and staying with you? >> I'm not sure. >> You're not sure? >> a plan. She was talking to my grandma's house and then I had to go. >> What was you guys' plan? >> It was like for me to come here and hang out with my sister and have a good time and everything. Well, we weren't even in here. It was my aunt's my auntie and the rest of the kids. That was it. I don't remember like anybody else being in any of the other rooms. So, that's what I'm saying. I'm I'm so confused right now. >> You were >> out last night. I was supposed to leave literally right now. My auntie is going to get picked up by my sister Rose and go to the service. >> Okay. So, if I'm understanding this correctly, you had arranged for child care for the evening. >> Yeah, but not like not we were supposed to have it right now, though. >> So, you were supposed to have your daughter right now? Or >> No, like we were supposed to be like 9:30, 9:40-ish. She's supposed to be at the service and everything. We were at the service and I was like with my mom. >> So, you guys were supposed to be partying and having a good time without your daughter. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, that's right. >> And then you don't know have have any idea when or how she showed up back here. Okay. Do you have anything for her in here? I see obviously the the tablet. Nothing else that's in here? Okay. >> No, I'm not sure either. >> Well, you see how this looks, right? >> It's bad. >> Yeah, it doesn't look very good. >> I'm not okay. >> Cuz you're in here, you're super intoxicated. I mean, you wouldn't even wake up. >> Exactly. That's why I'm so confused and so tired. >> And then your daughter's out there running around in the hallway. You know, that's >> That's bad. >> That's potentially uh And the room is registered to Dwayne is what they told me. >> I just want to see the cops. >> It's what? >> I just want to see the cops. >> Okay. Do you remember your daughter leaving, going out the room? Do you I thought she was with your grandma. >> No, she's with my We were here last night with my aunt my aunt older sister probably with my sister had her son here. And I said, "Okay, well, my grandma's going to come and pick her up." She said, "Okay, it's already an hour." So, the whole thing was already in process. >> Okay. >> doesn't want her with nobody. >> Your grandma's Fanny? >> Yeah. >> And you don't remember your daughter being here at all last night? >> Cuz we didn't get in till like 3:00, 4:00 this morning. >> At that time, was she here? You don't remember? >> Hi, ma'am. >> I'm Sergeant Desenzo with the Farmington Police Department. >> Wait, sweetie, here's your cereal. >> Okay. >> Hi. >> Did you find her, Mom? >> Uh yeah. I mean, she's passed out kind of a little drunk in her room. >> Okay. >> Uh the other officer is with her. >> Okay, can we do something about cuz this has been like a habit for her. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Cuz I'd like to see if she can get some help. >> Okay. >> I want something good to come out of this situation because, you know, this is the reason why I mean, you don't want her to be a baby. >> Right. >> So, she's always out running around. >> Yeah. >> Hanging out with her friends and getting help. >> All right. And uh her diaper seems pretty wet. >> Yeah, I know, cuz I knew it. But, this There's not There's no diapers in the room cuz we already checked. >> Yeah. >> I got your ID real quick. >> Okay, baby, don't touch that. >> Is that where you're going to be taking her? >> Yeah, that's where we live at. She lives with me. She lives with me since this year. >> Oh god, I'm >> Since she was a baby, we've been with her. she was. Is she okay if uh takes her daughter? >> Are you good if Fanny takes your daughter for now? Yeah? Okay, yeah, she's good with her daughter. So, Fanny was supposed to have your daughter last night, correct? Is that who your daughter went with at first? Who actually had her though whenever you guys came here? Obviously, your daughter Was your daughter ever picked up that you know of? Okay. So, you guys left the room. Was your daughter still here in the room? So, did you leave your daughter with your aunt? So, she needs this and this, I believe. Sorry, you said you guys needed this? Where's her shoes at? Okay. Sounds good. Thank you. Oh, sorry. Wait, so you guys left this hotel room and then Okay, and then where was your daughter at at that point? Okay, and then your aunt was supposed to arrange for her to her care. Okay, that makes sense. I mean, at this point it could have been a lot worse, you know, your your daughter's safe at least. Maybe there was a miscommunication, I don't know, but hopefully this will be the last time that this happens. >> So, mom is saying that her aunt was supposed to be watching her and so at some point >> Okay. in Alamosa morning. >> Which one? The one that's in the room? >> She left with them. Carrying them. They're already gone. They're the ones that rented the room. >> Dawn and Malia Lincoln. >> And those two rented the room. I don't know who it is or who's name is that room is under, but see they lied to me when they left. >> They lied to you? >> Yeah. >> What time did they pick her up at from here? >> See, I went to work at 3:00. She was at home. >> Who is she? >> The mom? >> The mom was They were both home when they when I left to work. They were both home when I left to work. >> In Bloomfield? >> Yes. And I had I had She wasn't planning on going anywhere. >> And she was supposed to stay there? >> She was supposed to stay home with her, yes. And then they came by my store earlier on while I was at work and said that they were They wanted to park there with my older daughter. That's what I think they told me. That's why when I stopped this morning, I know they told me that they're coming over here. >> Oh, cuz she said that she had left the her with either you or the aunt. And you guys were supposed to watch her and she was coming here to party. >> Well, that's not >> Okay. But yeah, that's what she's saying right now. OKAY. >> APPARENTLY, SHE WANTED TO GO PARTY and everything, but she didn't >> Normally, me or my son have her at the house and we don't let her take her if she knows if she knows she's going to do that. That's why we always tell her, "You need the baby here if you're going to go do whatever." >> Okay. >> We don't tell her no because we know she's going to do it anyway. >> Right. >> We tell her whatever, she's you know. That's why I said she needs She needs some intervention here. >> Yeah. Well, there's there's See, I would do this definitely get involved. Yeah. >> We need intervention. >> I'm I've been worried about her. I've been asking her >> And what's your name? >> I'm her best friend. I'm I'm good. I got a call from the other one that she was here by herself. So I came >> Oh. >> My daughter, Dawn, called her. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, and she was here. Well, she's the other person. So, yeah, she probably will get go to jail for a little bit or >> Uh probably something. So. >> Second second degree? >> Uh I don't know. I've only been here. >> Yeah, anyway, so um >> You You can take her. >> Okay. Come on, baby. Let's go home now. >> Ma'am, can we just HAVE YOU STEP OUTSIDE real quick? >> Okay, yeah. >> Put your hands behind your back, okay? You're under arrest. Okay.
