employees had been stealing from the store the suspect a cashier would select multiple clothing items during her breaks when she returned to the register she would ring up the items as if making a legitimate purchase but suspend the transaction just before the payment was processed making it appear as though the items were paid for she also recruited other employees to join in the scheme although her scheme appeared foolproof she had no idea that it was doomed from the start she was always the cashier like she was always giv them the stuff for free you know the other associates I haven't found any were there foring her up she's just she's just a cashier so she's really committed to like $3,000 which is about what I came up with um so minimum of $3,000 she allowed to leave the since there was video footage of our actions it was that this point that she finally confessed all cuz they also got video which they're going to provide us for all these transactions so I guess another question is how do you pick and choose who are your allowing to leave without paying for product cuz some of these are some of these are Associates that work here two of them are two of them were definitely Associates that we know of um is there something they do that they told you about cuz I mean they coming up to you asking I mean do you know him from like the neighbor I mean how do you know them are they are they didn't work two of them work two one of them I know that works here yeah you know them prior to working here and then they the they tell you that this goes on you ever been arrested before no you ever been in trouble no all right I know he's talking to some people but as of right now if this goes the way it is it's it's a felony you will have to take you if they do decide to prosecute it's up to them they could turn around and be like we'll work something out with you I have no control over that if they do the only thing I would definitely be cognizant of is that this is a felony so they have a certain amount of time that they can report this without any repercussions so if they decide to work out a payment plan which I have no control over at all and you fail on that payment plan they can call us right back and there's without with everything I have here and after speaking with you there's there's without a doubt prob cause for a felony theft of of three grand um so if that's something that they allow to happen again I have no control then it's something that you need to uh stay stay with because there's enough I mean you there's $1,000 it's you could almost be charged with uh um a scheme to defraud if you're working with other people to defraud Burlington that's another charge on top of it's not just a theft of three grand cuz you didn't while on probation she committed several other fraud related crimes which eventually led to a federal investigation moving on to the first time employees who just didn't want to work and scammed Walmart out of thousands in a daring attempt to make some quick cash Miranda right now you being detained can you tell me what's been going on still can we just go and okay it's fine turn around on the 18th of October 2022 police received calls from a Walman in Florida about an employee who had been scamming the store out of thousands of dollars each week instead of processing legitimate exchanges the woman was loading the value want to gift cards herself making up to $700 a day she thought she'd never be caught but all that changed when the evidence against her became undeniable when the cops arrived at the store to understand the situation they had to interrogate the store employees but they weren't prepared for the kind of scam that an employee could pull against her own employers hey hey she's in the back okay what's going on uh uh refund fraud she's been uh doing fraudulent returns and loading them to shop cards for herself for how long um I have 30 days wor she had a statement she's about to have her statement we just got her to admit the total that she estimates she estimates over 2,000 uh since July she's been doing these transactions um giving false returns going to jail on the 28th of February 2023 officers responded to a call from the lead manager of a local Murphy USA gas station reporting a $112,000 shortfall for the month initially suspected to be a robbery the audit later uncovered a more troubling reality another manager responsible for securing the safe had been embezzling thousands of dollars when officers arrived the lead manager revealed the full story we were at a meeting last week and she comes up and says hey I processed the deposit but I forgot to take it to the bank I called my supervisor and she says she can't find it so I said used it to pay back another deposit I lost 5 weeks ago the suspect was eventually apprehended but not before she tried to deflect blame and convince the officers that she didn't deserve jail time of August 2023 officers were called to a Target after a woman who had recently been promoted to a manager position stole money from multiple registers she was responsible for she never thought she'd get caught but with $2,000 missing in a single day the situation proved too obvious and cameras captured her every move police first examined the footage to confirm the suspicions uncovering a trail of evidence that left no doubt about her involvement so we're looking at one SP 20s 50s and 100s or in the last R room a a little bit more video cuz I got the whole process but so you combine the 50s
