Yeah, I'm human. >> Yeah. >> Damn. The >> Where is he? >> In the basement in all. >> I was scared. >> Police interrogations are a lengthy and stressful process that requires precision to get information from key persons in an investigation. While this process is often straightforward in nature, things can also take a very disturbing turn. >> For hearts. >> Your heart hurts. [Music] I'm not taking you to uni. I'm taking you to jail. That's where you're going. Okay. So, cut the >> Here are shocking moments when simple police interrogations take a disturbing turn. The first case reveals how an interrogation led to a grim and unexpected ending after officers ignored a man's desperate plea for help. >> Where you going, bud? >> You can take a nap if you want. Uh, he just got up here and flopped over, fell on the ground, and said his heart hurts. >> He's coming. >> You're back, my friend. >> On August the 24th, 2019, police officers were called after a man named Michael Brian Halt showed up to his girlfriend's workplace, acting strangely. When an officer arrived, he met with the young man, Michael, and immediately engaged him in conversation to determine what was wrong. >> Pretty good. What's going on today, dude? I don't know. It's my car. It's her car. >> You guys dating or married? >> We're dating. >> Do you work here or you just visiting here? >> Visiting. >> She works here. >> Okay. So, what what did you take today? >> Nothing. I didn't take anything. >> You didn't take any Colazopan? >> No. >> Any alcohol? >> Today I take my dose of Clinazipan and that's it. >> Clinazipan. Is that what it is? >> Yeah. >> What's Clinazipan? >> Uh, Clonopen. >> Clonopen. What is it? What does it do? Nothing. >> Nothing. >> Nothing. >> What do you take it for then? >> For anxiety. Good luck. >> I'll take a look at that in a second. The reason why we're here is we want to make sure you're good to go about >> I'm okay. >> Okay. >> I'm okay. >> What did you guys get into an argument or something? >> Yeah. She just I don't know. I don't know. >> You don't know? What was the argument about? Was it about the car? >> No, it wasn't about the car. It was about me being here. >> Oh. Did she not want you in here? Yeah. She knows why I'm here. She She knows why I'm here. She She accepts me here. >> She accepts you here? >> Yeah. So, why didn't she want you here today? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Did you guys yell? Any yelling? >> Any fighting? >> Yelling? No fighting? >> Okay. Is this her right here? >> No. That's her over there by the green car. >> Oh, it's a green car. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Oh. Oh, careful, buddy. All right. Well, we're going to wait for the other officer to show up cuz he's got a couple questions for you and we're going to go from there. Okay. Um, did you drop her off to at work today or? >> No, she's been at work. >> She's been at work all day. You just came to visit her. Can >> I go? >> No, not yet. I still need to talk to her and get her side. Make sure nothing happened to her. Make sure she's okay. >> She's okay. Nothing happened to her. I'm not either. >> I'm I'm sure she is, but I still have to I still have to check. Right. >> All right. So, >> nothing happened. >> What's that? It's all nothing happened to her. >> Well, we still got to figure it out. We We got to hear her side. And then after we hear her side, we'll have a couple more questions for you. Then after we get those answers to those questions, we'll ask her a couple more questions. You okay, bud? >> Nothing happened. I'm just leaving. >> Okay. >> I'm just talking to her. I'm leaving. >> Okay, I understand. But like I said, I still have to do my part, right? As Michael talked with the officer, a second officer went over to collect the statements of his girlfriend and coworker who called 911 to report the matter. >> Are you girlfriend? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, he told me that he probably needed a bunch of pills. >> Uhhuh. >> He has a prescription for coming out. I can't remember the name. They're two. >> That's like a something for like depression. >> He suffers from depression. Okay. >> And so, he's been just fine. >> Did he say if he's been drinking any alcohol today? No, but I thought I could smell it. >> I could smell it. >> Okay. Well, not >> all right. >> What happened here that made you want to call us? >> Just I was just concerned about the fact that, you know, this is a residential >> facility. So, a I didn't need that in front of my residents. >> I just didn't want to happen to them. And I gave them an option, too. you know, I said, "If you can call somebody and have them come pick you up and take you somewhere safe, um, or I'm going to call the police." And he like started walking out. And I was just going to leave it at that. But he like came back and kept coming with her. So like it wasn't anything violent, but he just he wouldn't leave and he wouldn't leave her alone. And so >> was there an argument between you two today? >> No. Officers proceeded to probe Michael about his anxiety medication and other likely substances that he may have consumed that day. Despite perceiving the stench of alcohol on him, Michael denied taking any alcohol. And to validate this statement, officers decided to conduct a sobriety field test and breathalyzer. >> What other side effects do they have? >> That's it. >> With just two of them, does it make you sleepy, drowsy? Cuz earlier it told you told me it makes you sleepy. Well, what else do they do? >> Maybe maybe some people they do. >> Well, that's what you told me earlier. >> Some people they make you sleepy. >> So, if you mix these pills with any alcohol because that can intensify the effect what you haven't had any alcohol. >> So, if I gave you breathalyzer? >> Yes. >> I smell alcohol on you when I was talking to you originally. >> Breath. We might we might do that. >> With an alcohol level two times higher than the limit allowed for driving, Michael was immediately arrested and taken into custody for DUI. At the station, Michael decided to play a risky game that would end up costing him more than necessary. >> Um, you told us you drove here. >> Yeah, you told me you drove here. >> We have video of you driving here. >> I'll walk here. >> Go ahead. Place your hands behind your back. I walk here. You mean Chad? >> Chase? >> Who's Chase? >> That's me. >> Are you Chase or are you Michael? >> I'm Chase. >> That's more charges if you lie to me. >> Yes. Yes. Yes. >> So, look up Chase. I bet that's his brother or something. >> Yeah. I tell you what, if you're right, you don't go to jail. If you're wrong, I take you to jail. >> Okay. You're going to take me to jail anyways. >> Well, actually, I got discretion. If I want to release you to the custody of somebody that wants to come pick me up, call me right now. >> The interrogation quickly swerved in an unexpected direction after Michael began showing signs of someone in desperate need of medical help. >> Just as I suspected, you are Michael and your brother's name is Chase. >> That's a class A misdemeanor for giving somebody else's information to a police officer. That sucks. >> What's the uh Never mind. I got it. Where you going, bud? >> You can take a nap if you want. >> You all right? So, a lot a lot of uh drunk people have peed on that floor. >> Yeah. >> I'm not sure you want to lay there. Do you need medical attention? >> Yeah. >> What floor for? >> Heart hurts. >> Your heart hurts? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Well, let's sit up. That'll help you breathe a little bit better. Okay. >> Okay. Sit up on your butt. All right. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> You got to help me. >> Sit right there. Okay. >> Can I answer whatever he said? >> Yeah. Incarceris. Exactly. >> Uh he just got flopped over, fell on the ground, and said his heart hurts. >> A medic team was quickly called to take a look at Michael's vitals to determine if he needed medical care, but his vitals came out clear. After being cleared, a sergeant, Tyler Longman, joined the other officers in the room to issue an electronic warrant to Michael, who continued to cry for help. >> Sorry, great. >> Please, >> I'm done playing these games. >> Please >> stay in the chair. >> Please. >> Okay. I heard that your heart hurts and you got checked out. Everything is fine. Okay, you're just trying to get out of your DUI. >> So, you just sit there like a man and take it. >> That's not doing good to you. Please, >> as Michael groaned in pain, the officers concluded that it was all a tactic to bypass the punishment for his crime. >> Keep an eye on him. >> We informed him it would be a felony DUI and minutes later his heart started hurting. Until then, So, probably a true case of that. I'm not going to sit here all night and play games with you. You've already wasted our fire department's time by having them come out for some bull. Okay. >> I'm not taking you to uni. I'm taking you to jail. That's where you're going. Okay. So, cutting me to jail. >> That's where that's where we're going to go. >> Fine. Let's go. >> Okay. We got some business to conduct here first. It's going to take about an hour. >> Take me to jail. >> It's going to take about an hour for us to do our business. But that's on you. That's on you because you didn't want to play nicely with us. Now we got to go. >> I do want to play nicely with you. >> No. If you did, you would have blown into the breath. >> Okay. If I blow the breath, you let me take you take me to uni. >> We're beyond that now. >> Once again, Michael began to act strangely, biting into a cord and claiming to have a weapon in his possession. He bit through it. >> Yeah, he straight up bit through the cord. >> Why Why would you buy through the cord? >> Cuz destruction of police property, dude. Is there a guy in your shoe, too? >> Sit down. >> Sit down. There's a gun in my shoe. >> Here, sit down. >> There's a gun in my shoe. >> Okay, sit down. Stay seated. >> All right. >> You don't want to fight with me. You definitely don't want to fight with this guy. Within seconds, the situation escalated into a struggle between Michael and the officers, leading to an unfortunate outcome nobody saw coming. >> No, we're not letting you go. >> We told you it'll still be a few minutes before you can go anywhere. >> I'm giving you my shoes. >> I got it. >> Got my gun. He's got my gun. >> Get back, my friend. The loud commotion alerted other officers present at the station and by the time they arrived the irreversible damage had already been done. >> All the officers who were involved are out already. So >> this is 30. >> What are we doing now? >> Suspect security. He saw he was telling you to calm down. >> Yeah. He's like taking and I was like >> like down here >> like we just had fish and chips here. No, it was Rubio. >> I would be like, "This only counts as one accident." >> Yeah. >> Did you see him coming? >> It was long. >> No. Say, "What was wrong with him though?" Cuz he was hunched over there on the on the steps. >> He probably just shot. >> I was like, "Where's all the fine?" >> Yeah. I know. I just eat fish. It's crazy too how quick they start to lose our color. >> So in like an hour he'll look. >> Yeah, we can play battleship too. >> That's right. I'm super good. >> But the thing is I still have all those beer bottles in my trunk from your case that I helped you with cuz I took those beer bottles. Had I given them to you? >> Not my beer. Not my problem. Oh god. At least I'm not doing naked push-ups. >> We're playing battleship if you want to join. You have to excuse me. You see, >> like once we get him out of our way. I was like, >> "No, probably." Michael was pronounced deceased at the scene and his family who filed a lawsuit against the department was given a $350,000 settlement. The police department has however maintained that Sergeant Tyler Longman who discharged the service weapon that took Michael's life was not to blame. While Michael's case was a clear depiction of tragedy, this next case takes a more disturbing turn when the interrogation of a negligent mother exposed an unexpected twist. >> I didn't beat him. I didn't. He was malnutrition and I didn't know who to call. >> What' you do? >> I started hitting him and then I kicked him one time. >> Where you kick them at? >> I think they ch >> Do you think you ought to? >> No, I don't think it I could have, but I don't think I did it. >> On June the 24th, 2022, dispatches in Wayne County received a call from Child Protective Services stating that a 3-year-old boy had gone missing for well over 3 months. In the 911 call, the CPS agent revealed that the mother of the child had told varying stories about the whereabouts of the toddler. And when confronted by family who feared that the child was no more, she wouldn't say anything. Following the 911 call, officers were sent to the residence of 31-year-old Azuri France, who was a mother of the missing toddler. >> What's your son name? Check. >> How old is he? >> Three. >> Okay. Where is he? What's What name? I old friend. A friend of mine. >> Okay. And where did she live? >> Uh, that information was in my iPhone. >> Yeah. Okay. Do you have your phone? >> No. >> You know you have a phone number? >> No, it's in my iPhone. >> Where's your phone? >> It's not here. >> Where's your phone? >> It's broken. The only phone I have. >> So, it's not here. It's broken. Where? Is it broke or is it just not here? Or is it both? >> No, it's not here. >> How long has baby been gone? >> Three months. >> Three months. Mhm. So, has baby been a plan for three months? Yeah. I mean, I don't I asked family members to get him because I just had a baby and he's blind and he needs special attention and she to help us. >> Okay. Where did she live at? >> Um I'm not sure. >> So, you gave your baby to somebody that you don't you don't know her whereabouts. You don't know where she lives. You don't know her phone number. No. None of that. No. >> Okay. Can we come in and make sure he's not in his house? >> Do you have a search warrant? >> No. I'm asking you. Can we come in and check this house for this shot? I I confess. >> Confess. >> What are you confessing to? >> What' you confess to? >> What you do? Can I talk to your private, please? >> Azerati's vague statement made it difficult to understand what was really going on. However, officers were all too certain that something sinister was at play. >> How many of you are in here? >> Four. Door lock. >> Yeah. Wait. My baby's too. Where's your at? Can you tell me? It's okay. >> Is he Is he in the house? >> Okay. You can't remember anything. Do you remember like the last time he saw it? >> You're not in trouble. Is he inside? >> Your your mom's going to be okay. She is she not she doesn't know what you're you're telling us right now. Is he Is he inside the house? Just shake shake your head no or yes. >> Yeah. >> Can you show me? Yeah. Okay. Nobody can show me. >> I guess my shoes for you. Go get you some juice. We'll get you some juice. >> I'm scared. >> Don't listen. >> Listen, listen. Listen. >> He was malnutrition and I was scared. >> Okay. Where is he? >> In the basement in the kitchen over there. >> I was scared. I was so >> Okay. Have a seat. Have a seat. Have a seat. >> Okay. You said he's >> Where's the basement? You said he in the basement refrigerator. I'm nervous. >> When did when did he he passed away? How long ago? >> In March. The end of March. >> He was and I didn't want to take him. >> Okay. Put your foot in the car. We'll get you some shoes. >> Once the officers received the chilling confession from the mother, they immediately alerted the others who had already made their way into the home to search for the toddler. Even with an idea of what was in the basement, nothing prepared the officers for the grizzly discovery they were about to make. Detroit police. >> Detroit police. >> The little girl told me to. >> Detroit police, if you're down here, say something. Detroit police. >> If you guys don't want to see, then >> Yes, I know. >> Um I'm going to guess it's in the back. I don't have no >> I don't either. dead. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> There's blood. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Damn. [Music] >> You want? >> Yeah. I got >> It's uh >> confirmed. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. the skele skeleton in her face. You don't You don't have to look if you don't want. >> I'm I'm Look, I got you. >> I got you. >> I smell it. >> If you want me to pull it back, I can. >> That's That's good enough for me. >> While officers uncovered the hidden body inside the basement, as a Radi spilled more information about what had led to the tragic ending of her little one. >> Excuse me, sir. >> Yes. >> I didn't beat him. I didn't. He was male nutrition and I didn't know who to call. It's not abuse. I was scared. >> I'm not trying to sound like a or anything, but I can't talk about anything. I can't talk about the case. The detectives are in route and they'll go from there. >> Where will my keys go? >> Uh CPS is coming out. >> Will family get them? >> I don't I can't I can't speak. I don't know. >> I'm sorry to tell you that's what's happening. >> They're on the way. >> CPS error. Yeah. >> Oh my god. No. They have family. >> Aside from the eerie item found in the basement, officers observed that the house was in terrible condition and immediately removed the children. The roach infestation and absence of food and water was no condition for any to live, let alone kids. >> Is that your little brother? >> Where's his clothes at? Does he have clothes? >> Yeah. >> Where at? You want to show me? >> She's just grabbing clothes. >> Where do you sleep at? I want to sleep in my room. >> In this way? >> No, this one here. >> You sleep in here? >> Okay. >> Come on, guys. You guys want some candy? You guys want some water? You only got one bottle. You have to pass around. Okay. It's flavored. >> You guys like hot fries? Please. >> While police officers on scene were still finding it hard to digest what they had just discovered, the mother remained more concerned about concealing the shame this came with. >> 10 bucks and that kid starve to death. >> I don't get it. Bad happened. >> She's ignorant. Those kids are for life. >> Dude, I already knew he was in there. She got like a floor. >> Yeah, that's all I needed. >> Well, I seen that the bag. I could see you can see the head shape and then the the bottom of it. >> How you want to put them in a freezer? They don't even work. >> I think it was a fridge like those fridges. >> She's disgusting. >> She said she It's been 3 months, right? Is what she initially said. The baby that she just had is only 2 months old. So the baby before she even had a baby, so she can't really claim. >> You can tell it's cuz they're malnourished. >> Yeah, they are very skinny. I asked them which room they were sleeping in. The one that I couldn't even open the door. It just freaks us peeing. >> Sam starvation probably stuck in >> in a bag. >> But I was trying to figure out what we're doing with these kids to get them off scene. >> Excuse me. >> My neighbors have to know. >> Huh? >> My neighbor. >> Ma'am, listen. You're asking me a lot of questions. >> I'm nervous. I'm sorry. >> I got you. I know. I understand you're nervous. I apologize for that. But >> right now, we don't know what's going on yet. So, when we find out what's going on, we will let you know what's going on. >> I'm sorry. >> No, you're fine. I want to punch this in the face in reality. What >> we signed up for, buddy? >> Now she's all worried about it. Stupid. >> Later on, CPS arrived at the scene and took the five children to a local hospital for checkup while Azeri was transported to the police station where she was further questioned. >> Never hit him once. Okay. Okay. I'm not going to lie. I did. Yeah. >> When it's okay now. Just win. >> I don't want to be in trouble. Just when I was I was frustrated. I didn't hit him >> when >> a couple times. >> I know. >> It was a couple times. >> Why? >> I I was frustrated and I was angry. >> Mhm. I know. >> I didn't mean to hit him. >> But this is the time to say what happened. >> I just put it overboard. >> What you do? Start hitting them. Yeah, I kic them one time. Where you take him at? >> I think he was check. >> Okay. What happened after taking his chest? >> He laid down and I went to go check on him and he was okay. But the next morning he didn't. I tried to feed him. He didn't get up. >> Do you think you ultimately? >> No, I don't think it. I could have, but I don't think I did. >> You don't think abusing him all those months did something to him? >> Yes. You don't think kicking him in the chest that day did something to him? That's Yeah. >> Yes. All right. >> Azerati France was sentenced to 35 to 60 years behind bars. Yes. Azerati's confession was a shocker, but get ready for an even greater shock in this next case where the interrogation of a prime suspect backfired on officers. Well, these people came over and his dad with shooting arrow bow and darts. >> Yeah. >> Where'd they shoot you at? >> I got shot in the eye. I tried to go back to sleep >> after you've been shot. >> Mhm. >> In the eye. >> Mhm. >> You didn't know enough to call 911? >> Mm-m. >> On the 26th of September, 2006, the police were called to conduct a welfare check on 21-year-old Heather Quan and her boyfriend, 18-year-old Ryan Waller. The families of the couple disclosed to the officers that the couple had been hanging out in their shared apartment on the 23rd and no one had heard from the two since then. When officers got to the apartment, they found something disturbing. Heather was lying lifeless with a wound to the head, while Ryan was in bad shape with a wounded eye. Seeing that this was a homicide case, Ryan was transported to the station at once where he was questioned about the events that led to what happened. >> Do you have a girlfriend? No. [Music] You You know a girl named Heather? >> Mhm. >> You know Heather's last name. >> Mhm. >> What is Heather's last name? Um the one that lives there right now, I guess. I don't know. But her name's Heather. What's her last name? Um, I don't know which name she's trying to use as her last one. She's trying to have a real last as her nickname. I don't know. >> What nickname does she go by? >> It's probably the last name. Thyman. >> Thyman. How would you spell that? With a K or a C? >> K. >> Keep going. I don't know. >> How old is Heather? >> 16, 17. Is she a white girl? >> Yeah. [Music] How did you meet Heather? >> I've known her since school. >> Okay. >> I don't know. >> You just known her from school. She used to be a business name. >> I don't know. >> She used to be do business name. >> She used to be in my book named business name. >> Oh, okay. She used to be in a class, your business class. >> Mhm. >> The interrogation kicked off in quite an unexpected way as the officer couldn't get a coherent statement from Ryan, who seemed to be in a state of confusion. >> What happened to your face? >> I don't know. You told the officer just a few minutes ago that someone hit you. Do you remember who hit you? >> Um, I don't know. I think it was Heather. Why would Heather hit you? >> I don't know. Was an accident. I forgot why. >> What was an accident? Heather's last name? >> No. What was an accident? >> Heather hitting me. >> What did she hit you with? >> Her hand in the eye. >> Did you guys have an argument? >> Not really. No. >> Not really. >> Uh-uh. >> What happened for her to hit you in the eye like that? >> She just hit me on accident. She was giving Christina a head. >> She was what? >> She was helping Christina with her hair or something. I don't know. Who's Christina? >> She's on the couch. >> Christina's on the couch. Christina's last name. >> I don't know. >> What does she look like? >> I really don't know. >> You don't know? >> Uh-uh. I really don't. >> What color hair does she have? >> Brown. >> Is it long? just average. >> How old is Christina? >> 20 maybe? I don't know. >> Despite Ryan's persistent lack of recollection, the officer continued to probe further, hoping that incessant questions would force him to speak up. >> What happened last night? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? >> I really don't. I just want to go to sleep and go to sleep. Well, you remembered how they're hitting you in the eye, right? I don't remember after that cuz I just went to lay down and try to go to sleep. >> All right. >> I don't know what anybody was doing. I really don't. >> Who was in the house when you went to sleep? >> Christina and Heather. >> Christina and Heather. >> Okay. And Christina was on the couch. >> Heather was >> Heather was on the couch. >> You told me Christina was on the couch just a minute ago. >> I don't know, man. I really don't. I really don't. >> You just don't know? >> I really don't, man. >> You don't want to tell me? >> I really don't know, man. I really don't. >> Do you know what happened in your house last night? Mm- >> All right. What happened? H >> I don't know what happened. You're all beat up, right? So tell me what happened. >> I don't know. I just want to go to sleep, man. That's it. >> Remember what happened to your nose? There's a big chunk out of your nose. >> I don't know. >> Something grab you. >> Were you fighting with somebody? >> No, I need to go. I need to go back to sleep, man. I'm just tired, man. That's it. Didn't even do anything. I just want to go to sleep. >> You remember what time this happened? >> Your eye. >> Like 1 or maybe earlier. I don't know. >> Ryan's responses to the detective's questions remained unclear and inconsistent, making the situation even more confusing than ever. >> Do you know Eric's girlfriend? >> Yeah. What's her name? >> Heather. Eric's girlfriend's Heather. You're >> You're saying that's Eric's girlfriend? >> Mm- >> or your girlfriend? >> Heather? >> Yeah. >> Mine? >> Heather's your girlfriend? >> All right. Was Heather over last night? >> Mhm. >> All right. And Heather did this to you. >> What? >> Your eye. >> Uh-uh. >> Okay. Who did that to you? >> Alicia. Alicia did that to you now. >> I swear. I'm not even lying. I swear. >> Okay. Why would Alicia do this to you? >> Why? I have no idea. >> Were you mad at Alicia? >> No, I don't know why. I don't know why. She probably hit it on something. I don't know. >> She hit what on something? >> I don't know. I don't know, man. When the detective asked about Heather's passing, Ryan made a revelation which no one saw coming. >> Hey, Ryan. Huh? Huh? >> There's a dead girl in your living room. >> He's dead. >> Yes, >> Heather. >> I don't know. I want to know what happened in your house last night. >> The girl on the couch is dead. >> I don't know if she's on the couch. She's dead. >> Well, these people came over and his dad with shooting arrow bow and darts. You know what I'm talking about? >> Yeah. >> They hit me and her with those. That's it. And Heather wasn't there and Eric wasn't there. It was just me and Heather was there. Upon hearing this, the detective began to explore this newly shared information, which brought an entirely different perspective to the case. >> You and Heather were there and then left. >> And that's it. Richie and his dad tried to break in to the back. >> Richie and dad, his dad. >> Mhm. >> Who's Richie? >> I don't know. >> Well, you obviously know him. You know his name by Richie. >> He used to live there. >> Was he a roommate of yours? >> He used to be. And they they hit you and they hit you. >> Yeah. >> Now it's Richie that hit you, not Heather. >> No, Richie and his dad. >> Richie and his dad. They hit you. >> Yes. >> Why? >> Cuz they're trying to get their stuff. I don't know why. >> And they had some kind of bow and arrows. >> Mhm. They each had two revolvers and they didn't let off any shells. >> Okay. You just said they had bow and arrows. Now they have revolvers. >> That's what I meant. They had revolvers. >> They have revolvers. >> Yes. >> And then what happened? >> And then they shot us with those. >> They shot both of you. >> Yeah. >> Where' they shoot you at? >> I got shot in the eye. You got shot in the eye. I >> think so. >> With a revolver, >> I think. I don't know, man. I don't know. >> Then what happened? >> I don't know. >> You don't know a lot, Ryan. >> I don't, man. I really don't. >> Did you shoot Heather? Mm-m. I heard you have a lot of guns in your house. >> Mm-m. >> No. >> Mm- >> You know, we're going to look. >> Mhm. >> Ryan, why don't you tell me what really happened there? Cuz I don't believe. I really don't know, man. I really don't. I don't know. I could tell you anything. I swear. >> I want you to tell me the truth. That's all I want. >> Richie and his dad came there and I don't know why. I don't know why. I don't know why, but they put me in sleeping hold. Like they put me in sleeping hold with the arrows and [ __ ] Like I live through the through that crap. >> Okay. They they put you in a sleeping hold. >> Yeah. >> What is that? >> I don't know. I don't know. I really don't. I don't know, man. >> You're telling me they put you in a sleeping hole? >> What is a sleeping hole? >> I don't know. >> Well, explain it. And it's coming out of your mouth. Explain that to me. What's a sleeping hole? I really don't know, man. I really don't. I really don't know. >> Although Ryan sounded pretty confident in his statement, his inconsistency since the beginning of the interrogation made it hard for the officer to believe what he was saying. >> Okay, you're telling me you're you're all over the board here. Number one, you're saying bows and arrows. You're saying revolvers, and you're saying some other thing, and they you're saying they shot you in the eye. Okay. They shot you with a revolver in your eye. >> Yes. >> And that's it. >> Is it a BB gun? >> No, it was a real gun, man. It was just a revolver. >> They shot you in the eye with a revolver. You wouldn't be talking to me right now. >> How do you know? >> Was most likely you'd be dead. That's what I thought too, man. I really don't know. >> Okay. I really don't know. And I just want to go back to sleep and try to go back to bed. >> You're not going back to bed. Okay, that's not going to happen. >> All right, but what happened, man? What do I got to do? Just tell me what I got to do. >> Get your feet off my chairs. Number one. Number two, what happened to Heather? >> I don't know, man. I really don't. >> They're now saying Richie and his dad shot Heather. >> Mhm. >> Is that true? >> Yes. And they shot her with a revolver. >> Yes. >> And did not use any gun. They came with those guns. >> Mm-m. >> And they came through the where? >> They were breaking in the back. >> Through the back by your door. Or is there another door? >> Through the back door. >> Through the back door. Is that off the kitchen? >> Mhm. >> And why would they come on Christmas Day? >> I don't know. I really don't know. Really don't know. Did Did they break in or did you let them in? >> I let them in. >> And then what happened? >> Then they started shooting up the house >> with a gun. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And then what happened? >> That's it. >> What happened to Heather? >> Heather got shot. >> Where did she get shot? >> Inside the face once. >> She got shot inside of the face. >> Mhm. >> How close How close were you to her when she got shot in the face? It was after I got shot, so I didn't even hear anything. >> So, you got shot first. >> Uhhuh. >> And what happened? Did you fall to the ground? >> Yeah. I was trying to get up and and I couldn't. >> I don't know. >> And then she got shot. >> Mhm. >> What? Why? What? What did you do? >> Nothing. >> Did you call 911? >> Did you see if she was alive? >> She was sleeping still and that's it. I just let her sleep. She got shot in the side of the face and you let her sleep. >> Yes. >> This does not make sense, Ryan. >> I know. I didn't mean to, man. I'm sorry. I didn't know she was passing out. That's because I got shot wrong once, too, and I was going to pass out. >> Okay. This is now, not before. >> Oh, no. >> You're saying right now you've been shot? >> Yes. >> In the eye? >> Yes. >> With the revolver? >> Yes. >> All right. The detective once again threw direct questions at Ryan, who had already grown tired of the interrogation at this point. >> Ryan, you need to start telling me the truth, but your story doesn't make sense. >> I'm trying, man. I don't know. Just ask me anything and I'll tell you the truth. Just ask me. >> Well, I'm trying to, and you're not even coming close to the truth. >> Go ahead, ask me. >> What happened with you and Heather last night? >> Her dad came and shot the house. and shot her. >> Mhm. >> Her dad. Now Richie is her dad or >> Richie's her brother. >> Yeah, her dad. >> Her dad shot her. >> Mhm. >> All right. And then leaves. >> Mhm. >> And what did you do? >> I tried to go back to sleep >> after you've been shot. >> Mhm. >> In the eye. >> Mhm. >> You didn't know enough to call 911? Mm-m. >> Why did you call 911? >> Cuz I was just trying to go to sleep. That's it. >> You just saw Richie and his dad shoot your girlfriend and you just felt like you needed to go to sleep. Something like that. I don't know, man. I really don't. >> Ryan, look at me. Ryan. >> Yes. I don't know, man. I really don't know. >> Why did you shoot Heather, Ryan? >> I didn't shoot Heather. She was already shot once by her brother. I swear. >> Richie? Yes. >> Richie shot his own sister. >> Yes. I swear. That's it. >> Sit down. >> Not me. >> And you've been shot in the eye. >> Yes. That's it. Get your feet off my table. Please. My feet hurt, man. I don't know why. Get them off my table. >> Finally, the detective decided to do what he never thought to do all along. Something which changed the entire course of this bizarre case. Let me see your put your legs Put your legs down. Put your legs down. Bring the face closer. >> Oh, my head hurts. Okay. Yeah. Be be right back. Hey, Ryan. >> Yeah. I got the fire department coming to take a look at they're going to probably take you to the hospital. >> You're taking me to the hospital? >> Yeah, we're going to take you to the hospital. >> Why? >> Well, if you seen your face and way you're doing things, just it doesn't make sense right now. Okay. We're just going to make sure you're okay. I want to go back to bed, man. >> Well, that's the problem. If you have some kind of head injury, you shouldn't be sleeping. Okay. Don't sit down. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. There you go. After realizing that Ryan might have been really shot in the eye, the detective called for help right away by alerting the fire department about what was going on. >> You're not going to believe this one. I can't believe it either. You're right. I've already heard the story. I can't believe it. This is just my observations that this might be an entrance. This might be an accident. This might be into his eye. And he's acting uh like he has a serious head injury, which would make sense. >> Are there guns around? This kid Eric did it. I don't know how he did it exactly. It might have been shot. I don't know. I really don't know. >> It looks like it went right through. Huh? >> Yeah, it might have. I don't know. >> Your ride's here. >> Let's check. Where? >> Where are we going? >> You got to go to the hospital. Get checked out. Bro, look like he got shot right in the face. >> In the end, it was discovered that Ryan Waller's story was true. And the culprits, Richie Carver and his father, Larry, were arrested and sentenced to life in prison. Ryan survived the shot wound after undergoing surgery. However, he sadly passed away in 2016 as a result of the multiple seizures he suffered after the incident. The next case unveils how the details collected by the cops after a hidden run exposed disturbing truths about a drunk driver. >> I smoke a cigarette. >> No, put your hands behind your back. >> I smoke a cigarette. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Stand up. Okay. >> As the victims were being tended to by the paramedics, the cops began to gather witness statements for their investigation. One bystander who witnessed the entire thing and was shaken by the incident narrated how the tragic accident unfolded. >> So, can you tell me what you saw? >> I was in a vehicle. I was in front of the vehicle of the first vehicle that got hit. That SUV that got hit on the side. >> Yeah. >> This was the first one up there, right? >> Yes. Okay. >> So, I was in front of that one and I heard it immediately. He was coming so fast on the curb. >> So, when I noticed him and then I heard the bang, I pulled over and I got out and that's when I saw this crash. >> Okay. >> The commotion of everything. And that's when he took off and that's when they stopped him. I would say right there. Um, >> right in front of those pillars. >> Oh, okay. >> No, no, no. On on that side of the street in front of the pillars. I think there was about four three or four of them >> that were on top of him. >> But you saw him trying to get out of the car. >> Oh, yeah. He got into their lane. >> Hold on. >> He swerved into this lane. >> Hold on real quick. >> He swerved into this lane on the curb. Meaning he he didn't curve correctly. >> Okay. >> He swerved, dinged their front tire like their bumper. >> Uhhuh. >> He came this way and he swerved again and that's when he hit that car head on right here. >> Okay. Right there. >> All right. I tell you 30 seconds he was out of the van trying to hurt her. >> Give me one second. Okay. >> Okay. >> What's up? Okay. Sorry about that. >> I can tell you exactly when the first car when the first accident happened. >> It happened at 8:20. >> The one up there? >> The very first time he hit. Okay. >> Because the minute he hit, I pulled over, got out. I go, "Are you guys okay?" That's when I heard the second one immediately called 911. So that happened exactly at 8:20. And when when this crash happened, you were in your vehicle still. >> But you were already out on your side. >> I was on this corner right here. >> On this side. Okay. So you're >> I think from here you could see that he had taken off still trying to get It took a minute for 911 to actually >> Yeah. >> Um >> so then from there just to get out of the vehicle. >> Further revelations by the same witness expose the extent of the driver's carelessness and disregard for human safety. He ran immediately and then even after he hit the first vehicle, >> he obviously he wasn't going to stop because that's how he how hard he hit the second. >> Okay. >> Because Nicholas had also been involved in the crash, he was also transported to the hospital for an assessment. While there, he began to nag unnecessarily, clearly oblivious to the fact that he had caused a major destruction that cost people their lives. >> What's up, bro? >> You keep on looking back at me. What? What about him? >> Me smile. >> There's He's not giving you any looks. >> And everything you guys did. >> Okay. >> Treat me like >> how am I treating you like you do him? >> He's not treating you like >> No, he's not treating you like either. >> Yeah, >> he's not. >> He's He hasn't said anything to you. Because I mean, >> excuse me. >> I'm telling you I he hasn't >> he hasn't said anything. Has it giving you any faces? >> Let me let me let me speak my mind. You know what I'm saying? >> I I'm not stopping. >> You came, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Give me a breather. Give me a chance to tell him. Let me have a phone call. Give me that. >> We can't give you a phone call. Let me >> I ain't stopping you. >> Well, you are talking about No, he couldn't see that. I'm saying I already know you guys. >> Yeah. I mean, that's true. I'm telling you he's not. But if that's what you believe, I'm not going to tell you you're wrong. >> I feel you have a right to feel like that. >> Nicholas's behavior and lack of accountability only angered the officers further, but it was only a matter of time before he became sober and started to understand the extent of his crime. >> Have you sit all the way back and sit up so sit back? >> It's It's all good, man. >> You're You're good, bro. You're good. Sit right. >> Just going to have you sit right there. Okay. You're all good. >> Chill, dude. Okay. >> That man over using this camera. >> Right on. Just going to roll your sleeve. Nicholas Gerola later plead guilty to homicide by vehicle and was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. Now things get even more intense in the case of 24year-old Adai whose interrogation files showed how badly mental illness can mess a person up. >> You have blood on your hands, dude. What's up with that? >> My dad rushed me. I hit him and then my mom was like, "You need to >> And when you say you had to, what did you have to do? On the 13th of October 2024, concerned neighbors dialed 911 after hearing the sound of a weapon going off multiple times from within the residents of next-door neighbors. In response to the call, officers were sent out to the location to conduct a welfare check. And upon arrival, they met with a fidgety young man, Adlay Mestre, whose words immediately threw them off balance. >> Hello, Sheriff's Office. That's a major catastrophe. >> That sounds like it. So, let me just >> How many died? >> What's that? >> How many died? >> How many died today? >> Uh, I don't know. And then your dad is your dad. Adli's behavior and responses suggested that something might have been off mentally and the concern for the detective at this time was to understand where his mind was at. >> I just have to make sure I have some of this information and I'll let you write it. >> You mind if we keep those? >> Yeah. >> No, they're there's going to be I'm not going to touch them. Uninstate to kill me. Lost consciousness. Sh. Corpses. Adli's revelation to the detective and a newly surfaced piece of evidence at the house provided some answers to the big question the cops had all along. Why? >> So today, and you're not in trouble if you did. Okay. Today, did you uh take any type of drug or anything like that? >> No. >> Do you normally take anything other than like or anything? Like for the past week or two, I've been on surv. >> So you've been sober? >> Yes. >> What were you usually on? >> TC. >> TC. Okay. Do you take any type of meth, fentanyl, anything like that? >> Definitely. >> No. Okay. Uh, have you ever been to the doctor at all for any type of mental health issues? >> Oh, yeah. I probably, you know, curse. People used to curse me. I feel like my family cursed me. >> Oh, really? >> I don't feel like my family cursed me. >> And why do you say that? >> I don't know. was just I always spent so much time and my voice changed. >> Oh wow. >> There were those voices telling them to surrender auditory hallucinations. >> Yeah. >> Hearing voices. [Music] >> Let's make sure we photograph that. >> Charge diagnosis. >> End of September. >> They said he's not homicidal or suicidal. So they discharged him. >> Well, then >> yeah, >> something changed. Yeah. >> Well, we So, >> can I see that? >> So, he had discharge papers for medication um on the 4th of October, but I haven't seen any meds. So, he was hearing voices, men and women voices. That is bizarre. Remember, was that David's August? No. September 27th, 2024. >> Not too long ago. >> Adelaide is a 24-year-old male admitted to to psychosis presenting with command auditory hallucinations. He states, "I'm hearing voices and the women are telling me to surrender to police force and come to my reality and the men are telling me to kill myself." He st the voices have been present for years, but he has not paid attention to them. Patient denies suicidal or homicidal ideiations and they are forward thinking with plans and goals for the future. Crazy. discharge paperwork >> for psychosis. >> Patient stated that he went to the police to see if they had intelligence about his reality and might be interested in employing him into the police force. States that he has planned to apply to the police academy after discharge. Police say that he's suspended from Amazon and then fired 2 days ago for a face bump which is under investigation. >> Adli seemed really eager to detail all that he knew and the detective wasted no time to grab the chance to find out more about this unfortunate event. connection. No. >> Okay. >> Um, so why were you trying to bury them? >> I was just Okay. Did you try to like clean up inside? >> Yeah. >> I thought I thought the whole world went crazy. I saw I was just going for it up. Um, we have a few things we got to do today. Um, it's going to be a little while. Um, I got to go talk to my partner, try to figure out what all happened and we got to figure this out. Okay. If you need anything, just knock on the door and just say hello. Um, and I'll come back and uh help you with whatever you need. Okay. All right. Sounds good. Thank you. We'll talk to you soon. >> Oh, okay. What else would you like to talk about? >> Real review. Well, you got family child curse me. Okay. >> Do you have cameras at the house? >> Look at the phone. >> Well, no. But you say that. Would you Are they your your cameras? No. Do you have cameras that your family had on the on the house at all? >> Later that night, the detective visited the neighbors and owners of the apartment where Adla and his family lived to inform them of the tragic news. >> Uh, my name's Cameron, so I don't I haven't met you. >> Come on in. I'm Daniel. >> Nice to meet you, sir. Thank you. you earlier. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> Uh, so I'm the case agent, so I'm the lead detective for this >> week or Detective Daily told us. >> Okay, perfect. >> So, I'm going to give you some kind of an update on where we're at. >> Okay. >> Uh, I mean, obviously, as you can imagine, it's not good. Um, >> we have no idea. >> Sure. So, since >> Hi. Oh, sorry about that. >> That's a big puppy. >> Yeah, he's a good boy. >> So, um, >> basically what we can tell you, um, is unfortunately, uh, David, uh, Nancy >> Oh, no. >> And, uh, >> Brayley. >> Yeah. >> Wait, wait, what? >> They're all dead. And uh I was I was the one I interviewed Adelaide >> Adl. Yeah. >> Adli and I I arrested him for three the three months. >> What? Why? >> I'm I wish I had more answers. Um, [Music] >> it come to Mickey. Mickey. Mickey. >> Okay, Mickey. Come on. Come here. >> Oh, no. Mickey, come here. >> Yeah, it's >> it's not good. >> As expected, the neighbors were mortified upon hearing the news. But the worst news was still yet to come. I'm >> so sorry to have to tell you guys. I mean, it's your house, so I mean, we >> And it's more importantly, we care about them. >> What the happened? >> Was it all today? >> It looks like they were at some point today. We're not exactly sure. Uh, >> we heard the shots at at whatever time. >> It could have been. Um, it could have been. I mean, there were multiple multiple gunshots uh to each of them. So, we're just not we're not sure. So, we have to wait >> each of them. >> So, we have to wait until the medical investigator is going to do an autopsy on all of them tomorrow and hopefully >> Are they there? Are they in in the house? >> So, it looks like it started in the house. That's why you guys were outside. >> Yes. Uh their bodies were found pretty far from the house. >> What? >> Yeah. >> In the outside on the property. >> Mhm. >> Down in a ravine down there like down. >> So Adeli's, you know, been arrested. He's going to jail for the and a bunch of other >> We wondered why when the whoever came first came up and took him right away. We're like, "Wait, what happened? Why?" And then D told us that you guys needed a search warrant. We're like, "But why would you sister?" >> I know. >> Sister. >> I know. I know. >> So, >> the girl, >> just to prepare you guys, okay, the house, it's not good. Uh there's a lot of blood everywhere. Um just being honest. Um so what I >> can believe this. >> So we don't have like a cleanup crew or anything. So what I mean we can get you some recommendations. Uh but a lot of times homeowners insurance will they'll cover the the you know like with whatever your homeowners insurance is. They will cover the cost of the biohazard and with a deductible and stuff cuz it's it's really bad. >> What do you mean really bad? I mean this >> there's there is blood everywhere. >> There's one there's like two stories. >> Yeah. There's blood all up and down the stairs, up in the bedrooms. All over. I'm completely crazy. I cannot imagine this. I cannot imagine this. >> Yeah, it's I I had >> I can't [ __ ] imagine it. >> I spoke with him for a little while and I'm >> Did he do that? Like not like >> So, wait, wait, wait. So, all three family members are there? >> They were found in the beam. He said >> they were It looks like they were all in the house and then taken outside. I know. I can't. >> And we didn't get I I wasn't able just based on his adaly state. I couldn't really get a lot out of him. >> Was he just like nonresponsive? >> Uh there was, you know, I don't know if there's mental illness, mental health issues. >> I'm going to say something's not right. Right. >> Yeah. So, we're not I I can't speculate about what happened because I mean he can't tell us and he's >> there's clearly something going on whether it was drug induced or just something happened in his brain. I don't know. >> Upon hearing that the house was in a pretty gory state, the homeowners began planning the next steps for conducting a thorough cleanse of the place. Otherwise, they risked being able to put it up for rent. >> What? >> What are we supposed to do now? Well, how do you hold a Nancy Junior? >> So, we're working on that. We're working on it. >> Unfortunately, we don't have her. >> You don't have any >> We don't have But uh on >> there's a daughter. Yeah. >> Yeah. Nancy Jun. >> Yeah, we I we think we found >> We think we found her. We're just trying to get in contact. >> Military member. He I've never met him. But um and on the lease agreement, which Daniel gave off, that doesn't always know who they are. That was just their emergency. Yeah, we're we're working on that. And Brayley, did she go to school? Do you know? >> So, she I think so she had significant health issues. >> Yeah, I could I could kind of see that. And >> think what was that thing? >> When um she had a colostomy bag, I think. And but she was work the last we knew. We haven't actually seen her for a little while, but the last we knew she was working at Dion, the Dion that Cecilia, our daughter, was working at in a while ago in on Central, but I don't know if she was still doing that. And then we hadn't I I mean, I saw Nancy when I don't even remember when we saw I mean, we would see them on the road, you know? I mean, cuz the black car is NY's. That's how come we got worried. >> Are there dogs over there? Cuz they had dogs. So, one of the dogs is probably going to have to be put down cuz one of the dogs was shot multiple times. >> That's how that's the yelping I heard. >> And then there's We have animal control here to help get the other ones for us earlier. >> So, there was two of them. They came one because we wanted to get the dog any type of help. It doesn't look good. I mean, >> I heard the dog yelping and yelping. That's what freaked me out. So, and there were three dogs at some point. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know. But I haven't. The last time I saw all three was D David uh running with him a couple weeks ago. I mean Okay. So, what happens next? >> So, what what happens now is we're we probably have maybe a couple more hours here uh processing the house and doing everything that we need to do um to build a case. Uh the the bodies are on their way out uh with a medical investigator. Um, so basically what happens now is we'll go in, we'll finish our search, do the things that we need to to do on our end to build the case, and then we'll turn the house over to you and then whatever else you guys need. >> Someone want to come and say that to us or >> Yeah, we'll come I'll I'll make sure I come back over here when we're done just to let you know. >> Tonight? >> Yes, ma'am. Tonight. Yeah, I Yeah, this morning. I mean, >> that's okay. There's no sleeping that's happening, so it's fine. Yeah. Uh, so I wish I had more answers. I I don't think we're going to get them. >> It's >> what happened. I mean, oh my god. Poor Nancy Jr. Oh my god. >> Yeah, it's pretty devastating. It's going to go through >> and it's when if you go in there, it's it's bad. >> So, I don't want to go in there. I mean, I want to get >> But then how do we what do we do now? So, what you can do is you can So, you can contact your homeowner's insurance and then you can ask them for like biohazard cleanup and they can >> biohazard cleanup. >> Yeah. >> Will we get like some case? >> Yeah, I can give you our case number >> and that's all you need to know. If you'd like, I can write it down for you. >> Or if you want me to just tell you and you write it down. >> Oh, whatever. Given that they initiated the 911 call that led to the arrest and awful discovery, getting the house in good shape was the least of the landlord's worries. So, what happens is he's been arrested today. Uh so, within 3 to 5 days, we file what's called a detention uh a pre-trial motion for detention. Uh so, the state the district attorney's office will file this paperwork in court saying that we want to keep him in jail until trial. Uh, so we'll in 3 to 5 days we'll have this hearing. It'll be at the courthouse in Albuquerque and we'll the state will argue he's dangerous and he can't be let out. His defense attorney may I don't know he could they could stipulate to him staying in or they could try to keep him out. Um, it just depends and then the judge will decide if he stays in custody or not. And if he stays in, if the judge rules that he's a danger, then he'll stay in and then he won't get out until this case is over. >> So, how would we know? How would we know? Because when he walked out and they arrested I was watching >> and he turned this direction and looked >> and so how would we know that he's I mean, I hate even thinking this is. I can't even. and we have your phone number so I can I can make sure and let you guys know. I mean, I would be I'm not surprised in my job anymore. Uh but I would be very surprised if they let him out. Uh just given >> everything that happened. >> During Adl's interrogation, he displayed clear signs of mental illness. However, this alone couldn't clear him of the charges faced against him. [ __ ] it. I'm Officer Adel, but Jesus, that's not me. Period. I ain't no Adel. No fraction. Talk to my family. >> Put your hands down. Turn around. >> We going to die. >> Turn around. Put Put your hands behind your back. >> Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I got him. >> He kicked a hole through the [ __ ] wall. >> Okay. He's going to go sit in your car. Okay. We're going to hold him here and then just go get your stuff and we're going to take we're going to take him to your car. Jesus Christ. Adler, what are you doing, brother? Y'all losing? >> No, we don't lose. You all okay? >> Yeah. Are you okay, bro? We're worried about you. Are you okay? Cuz I've been a cop a long time, brother, and that's never happened. Looks like you got to add a charge. >> Yeah. Well, looks like we're going to die. >> No, you're just going to hang out, man. We're not here to hurt you. No, it looks like I'm just going to go. >> No, I think you're good, bro. You'll be fine. >> I think you just need to take a deep breath. >> Christ Jesus. >> I'm going to have a bunch of energy lit on me. I become powerful. >> Well, let's not be powerful now. Okay. Just I just need you to relax. Okay. >> Cool. Yeah. Absolutely. All right, man. We're going to go sit you in a car. Okay, brother. Adli was charged with three counts of first-degree homicide, tampering with evidence, cruelty to animals, and attempting to flee. He was later found incompetent to stand trial and remains in custody, but he is receiving psychiatric treatment. The next case showcases how police interrogation during a simple dispute case ended up taking an entirely different route than what was expected. >> I haven't done anything wrong. >> You've been yelling and causing disturbance. >> They I got them on video yelling and screaming at me. Got friends who are cops. I used to be a cop a long long time ago. I don't go around professing I'm a cop. These guys are they're going to get a lot. I guess >> you guys are actually being shut down right now. Every single employee here is being detained and nobody is free to go. >> On the 15th of January 2023, police officers responded to a dispute at a Taco Bell. A customer involved in a heated argument claimed to have been poisoned which led to the closure of the establishment. >> What's going on, sir? These guys were mouthing off to me. I gave you my order. >> Okay. >> And the issue had is I I had an order with them and I was taking the order with them. >> Okay. And then what happened from there? >> Well, they would they wouldn't they wouldn't let me trade out anything. So, why aren't you guys in here talking to these guys? I haven't done anything wrong. >> You've been yelling and causing problems. >> No, they I got them on video yelling and screaming at me. >> Okay, that's perfectly fine. >> Yeah, they they initiated to them to me. The guy came out called me twice. >> Okay. >> So, don't sit there and say that I started it. These guys came out to me. >> Why would they come out to you? >> Because they were >> I I placed an order. >> Okay. >> How's it going? >> Not bad. How are you? >> I'm a little pissed off right now. >> Thanks for that. >> Yeah, I took an order. I paid for my stuff. These guys are all coming out here yelling and screaming, calling me names. I have them on video and they're telling me that I'm mad and that I'm calling them loose. They came out to me first. >> Okay. >> Was your order wrong or something or what? >> They don't they don't have any carbonation in here. So, I I I always get to number two. It's got a three soft tacos and a freeze. I upgrade to a freeze. They don't have it. >> So, the issue at hand is that they want to sit there and tell me that well, it's it's a up it's uh they're going to give me something different like tea. I don't want tea or water. I don't get water at home. Okay. So then they had a verbal argument with them or what happened? >> The guy started yelling and screaming at me from behind. This guy over here starts yelling and screaming at me. I got it on video. I got them telling me. I mean the whole thing about it is that the drink is actually cheaper than the that there's $2.55. I said just give me a bean burrito that. >> Okay. >> L means trade. >> Okay. Um, there was a comment about someone spitting on somebody. >> I didn't spit on anybody. I have a speech impediment. When I speak loud, it comes out. >> Okay. >> So, it's not an issue cuz the guy wants to be an issue. >> So, you didn't intentionally hog a luggie or spit in somebody's face. >> I don't even do I don't even know how to do that. >> Okay. Do you have your ID or anything on you real quick? >> Why don't you get your ID though? >> That's blood I'm going to have in there. Yeah, I'm good here. Wait, see what's going on there. The victim wasted no time in detailing what actually happened to the cops. Or so they thought. >> So just a verbal argument between you guys. >> I didn't touch the guy. I've been law enforcement before a long time ago. >> Okay. >> So I know that. But these guys ming off and I have weight and walked right up to him. I say back off and he wants to talk to me. This guy here come up out to the thing twice calls me names. So I had people from the front and back. >> Okay. So, we you were in the drive-thru having an argument with the guy at the drive-thru thing. >> Yeah. But they're yelling and screaming at me. >> Okay. >> And then the guy starts I'm talking to the people at Taco Bell and then they come up and they're yawning and screaming your knees. Get the hell out of here. Just go. Just go. And I want my order. >> I ordered it. >> Okay. And then they told you pull up front of here. And then that's when you were going in there. >> They manager said come on in. Come on in. Come inside the lobby. >> Oh. The manager when you were parked here told you to go inside. >> I was leaving and then the guy comes out starts calling me names. >> Okay. >> And stuff like that. And I say, "Hey, you know, but the manager just come on inside the place." >> Okay. >> Well, is that a >> So, so you're leaving. The manager comes out asking >> No, no. The manager was in the in the thing in the drive-thru. >> Oh, okay. Telling you to come inside. >> Come inside. >> Okay. Uh, looks like you're kind of blocking the drive-thru a little bit. Would you mind just pulling forward just so I can get by the light? I'm big truck. Okay, that's fine. >> Has Have you been drinking at all today or anything? >> I haven't had a drink in 25 years. >> Okay, that's fine. >> I don't drink. I don't do smoke or nothing. Why is that a question that you do that? >> I saw you kind of stumble a little bit. So, >> I have a speech impediment. I've already said this twice. Yeah, speech impediment. >> I'm not [ __ ] I just have a speech impediment. And I don't drink. I haven't had a drink in 25 years. I've never had a DUI or been in prison. >> That's fine. I'm not saying you're saying you just sit there and said I have this thing like I've been drinking. Why? >> I just saw you just come up the curb. I just want to make sure your boots on. It's icy out. >> I just want to make sure you're >> No, you're being you're being difficult. >> I am not. >> You are. You said >> if you feel comfortable to go in your car, meet me over there. We'll catch you. >> Tell me about how much I had to drink. >> I said have you had anything to drink? >> I drink Gatorade. All I do >> right >> Gatorade. >> That's fine. I >> No, no drinks. No, no, nothing. >> Okay. I just don't want an issue to happen. >> You smoke cigarettes. Okay. >> These people flick cigarettes outside. >> Okay. >> You You see me spinning just now? >> I I do. I get it. I'm not holding anything against you. I just want to make sure you're capable of operating motor vehicle. That is it. >> Why don't you ask them if they're having drinks? I'm just curious. >> I'm talking with you. My my deputies in there. >> So I because I'm walking on rocks and uh my phone stopped working because I'm stopped. Walking on rocks in ice and snowing boots. I'm drunk. >> I didn't say you were. >> Well, it seems like you were asking me if I haven't if you drink tonight or today. >> Asked you if you drinking anything today. >> What does that have to be? I mean, I'm not a DUI. I haven't done anything wrong. >> I'm not saying you did. >> The man was clearly turning everything into an argument and only aggravated the situation further. I want to be left alone, but when people start coming up and you on the screen at me, I'm I don't have a right to talk back to him. Well, >> I mean, is it is it okay? It's a one-sided world. >> No, it's not one-sided. No, I'm just wondering what what would you like us to do today? So, if if we find that there's charges to be able to be able to press on him or the employees there, would you like us to pursue any type? >> I don't want I mean, I just want my my I come here, but the lady says I do this all the time. I've never done this before. You know, the lady, she comes out, videotapes me. But I I have it on video that I asked her. I says, "Just give me a bean burrito in lie of it." >> Sure. >> Do you know what? I mean, I'm not trying to be disrespectful instead of >> instead of There you go. >> Instead of educational thing. And she's like, "It's $255 for the drink. The bean burrito is $1.89." >> Okay. >> So, I said, "I'll take the bean burrito." >> Sure. >> But she's like, "No, I can't do that. You can either have a a brisk iced tea, you can have a cup of water. I'm like, "No, I get a mango freeze all the time. I have so many of these receipts that are all Taco Bell. I get the same thing. I don't have any weapons." >> No, I was just I was just looking at what you're >> You seem like a nice guy, >> but the issue at hand is that I've got friends that are cops. I used to be a cop a long long time ago. I don't go around professioning. I'm a cop. But the issue is that people get a little defensive about, "Hey, were you reaching for things?" So, I don't have any weapons in my vehicle. I'm sorry. >> No, again, I just by accident. >> No, you're you're fine. I I understand. >> But the issue here is that I'm just getting my Taco Bell. They don't have something here. And I started recording her when she she said, "Nope, you can get water." I'm like I was like, "What? I can get water at home." >> Okay. >> You know, I I come here to get the the the free. Are you Rap County, by the way? >> Yes. Rap County. >> That's why I miss it cuz I just now saw a sheriff. >> Oh, yeah. Rap County. >> Why are we Why are you sheriff out here? And we're in City of Aurora >> in Instead of Aurora. >> Yeah. >> Uh it's just the how City of Centennial's broken up. >> Are we in Centennial? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I didn't know this was Centennial. Oh, I mean I come right up to >> Yeah. So Aurora starts um across the street. So Smoky Hill >> here 20 years. Never knew that. >> Oh, okay. No, it's all good. So all that side on uh from Smokey is Aurora or Yeah. is Aurora. And then we >> shut this off. You got your video on? >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, I got it. And then we start again. Um, we have a lot of unincorporated areas and stuff that we touched. So, >> I got I got the title and registration that I just bought the truck for my dad. So, years ago. >> Okay. >> I got it. Um, paid my mom for it. I had a little sale for it. Okay. I don't really drive this truck, but they always tell me I got to move some vehicles in. >> Sure. No. And that that kind of makes sense cuz when dispatched aired it out, it registered to your dad and George. >> Yeah. Amen. Yeah. Absolutely. >> Despite his denial of being a bully, it became evident that he was after the employees. This was only the beginning of a crazy situation. >> So, my partner's in there. He's finishing up with them. Um, it sounds like it was just a verbal argument. >> Why can't I I mean, why do other people I mean, these young kids, I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you. They jump out and start yelling and screaming and calling me names. I'm twice their size, right? >> You know, I'm not trying to be a bully. I'm talking to them, >> right? >> And then they come out say, "Hey, you got to move your vehicle." I'm like, "No, I got my issues with them." >> And either they can back up and I mean, I was trying to back up and they wouldn't let me back up. >> So, it's either go forward and the lady says, "Well, you can come in." I'm like, "Well, >> right. >> I I want my thing, >> right?" And that's when he came in. >> Well, I mean, I only came in when the guy came out so young at me. There was a guy baseball cap. Was he cussing at you or anything? >> Cussing me. I got him on video. >> What was he saying? >> Said you're said to me twice and he I mean he came outside to have a confrontation with me while I'm in the drive. I'm see I'm spinning again. >> Um and the fact is that that when I was leaving, he goes goodbye like that. So he did it a second time >> through the through the drive-thru window. >> He came out. No, no, he >> Oh, he actually came out. Okay. >> And he's standing in front of me and I'm, you know, coming out. So then I stopped and I said, "Well, why are you being like that?" And then the other guy's mad. But the issue at hand is is all I mean, we're wasting more time. You're wasting time. You guys could be doing doing a million other things. >> Sure. >> This is trivial. But you have other people feel like that they have to yell at at me, >> right? >> You know, I mean, I'm not interrupting them. I'm not in their life. >> Okay. Sure. Right. It just seems like you just wanted something to be switched out and then somebody got mad about it and then >> I did. I I have the lady clear on the thing. She said, "But they say I do this all the time. I've never done this before." >> By this point, he was being friendly to all of the cops at the altercation. >> Do you think I spit on them? >> Well, they said that somebody spit on somebody. >> Spit. I mean, I just have a speech. >> Sure. And my issue is that when I get more vocalized, more verbal, >> it just comes out, right? >> But it's not an intentional act. It's just me talking, >> right? You know, and and that's and that's what I get from having this conversation with you. So I I can already articulate that I don't believe that you intentionally spit on them like straight up hog spit. >> I don't know how to do that. I've seen people do all the time. I don't do that. I've never done that. >> Sure. >> Here comes your boss. >> Oh, that's perfectly fine. >> Your partner. >> So let me just talk to him real quick. >> He's a big guy, by the way. >> Yeah, we we get we go way back from the football player. >> I was. Who did you play for? What's that? Who' you play for? I didn't college. I wasn't that good. You're a big boy. I wouldn't mess with you. You can talk to me. I'm not going to. >> It's a deterrent. I mean, if you I always joke that I'm a big guy, but I'm 290 big tall. You know, there's guys that are 290 your size. I'm like, man, you got to be every bit of 200 lb, man. >> Yeah. >> But I'm just saying that I I would still if I ever got in a fight and I don't I lose in the fight. We both lose, which is stupid. >> So, Do you mind if I just talk to him real quick over here? >> The situation escalated when the man believed everyone was threatening him. Unfortunately for him, all stories matched compared to his. >> I don't have to say you have any questions. >> Yeah. So, here's my business card and on the back is the incident number pertaining to this call. So, >> the fact that he's out there and said, "Next time you come out here, I don't need to hear that." That's absolutely a threat. I don't need to hear it. >> Absolutely. >> I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. >> It is. >> Do you have any other questions? >> Maybe. Yeah. I want to know the name of the people here. >> Okay. >> Why? >> You gave them my name. >> No, I didn't. >> You didn't? >> No, I didn't even know your name till I walked out here and my father told it to me. the people inside. I had no idea who you were until I walked out here and my partner told me that your first name was Bruce. I have no idea what your last name is. I have no idea what your date of birth is, nor do I care at this point. >> We didn't we didn't give any of your information to them and they we didn't give any of their other than >> Everybody's story is matching up that you wanted an exchange of a burrito for a drink. Uh somebody >> Yeah. for >> right the cuz the drink wasn't available and you wanted a burrito instead you know way that hey we what we can do in l they didn't let she didn't understand that so that's why I asked if you knew what the word not being disrespectful either because she didn't understand that right >> but the fact of the matter is that these other two guys come out yelling scream calling me names I mean >> right >> I'm you imagine standing there and having somebody yell scream in your face I'm sure you get back in their face like you're in my place now >> pretty intense Well, and according to them, it was you who started. You were getting in people's faces insulting. It's at this point you said video. >> I get it. >> And they have video of it, too. >> They do of of them. >> So, here's the thing, though. At no point did anything criminal happen. So, it doesn't matter what words we're investigated for it. There's no case number. There's no nothing. So, I'm going to put call notes in that I talked to you >> and you can say he was hotheaded, yelling and screaming and all that stuff. >> No, I'm just going to say it was just a verbal argument between a customer and employees. Nothing criminal. >> Well, no, but what about the people that were that were they were as well? I mean, there's like eight people. >> Okay. >> So, that's not just Bruce and the employees, >> right? No, I'm saying all the employees that were in there having a verbal argument with you. >> What about the other people in the walk? You didn't talk to them? >> I talked to them. >> Okay. So, there's not an issue that they're yelling and screaming at me. >> You're just putting down me. Bruce is yelling. >> I'm not doing anything at this point. The management of that Taco Bell just does not want you around. They didn't mention anything about the other. That's not my choice. >> Here's y'all's thing. Y'all's report goes out to a bunch of people and they go, "Well, >> there's not a report going to be made. >> There's no report. >> They said that that this between me and the employees, a verbal altercation. I'm saying why not men these people that were in the lobby they were young people came out and called me why are they not being so yeah they were young >> were they citizens in >> yeah I talked to them I identified them I know who they are I have their contact info >> okay you shake hands or >> I I do knuckles >> knuckles >> so all right >> all right thanks for your time sorry about this thank you for taking the time with I all these years never knew you have always. >> Okay. Try to try to have a good rest of your day, sir. >> I had a great day. >> I'm sorry. But these guys are they're going to get to Washington. I guarantee you. >> After some more time, it looked like the argument had down, but that wasn't the case. >> How many employees do you guys have here right now? >> Four. >> Four. Okay. Um, can I come in for a bit? >> Yeah. So, what's happening is um you guys are actually being shut down right now. Uh we have our supervisors on the way out and our investigations team as well. So, I need all your employees to come out to the front here and just have a seat. Uh we're going to be getting a hold of the manager for the company. Um and we'll explain a little bit more about what's going on um as soon as my supervisors get here. But again, for right now, every single employee here is being detained and nobody is free to go. >> Okay. >> So, detention um for what? >> Um so, it's going to be for um an investigation we have going on right now. Um it's going to relate to the poisoning situation. >> Poisoning. >> Yes. But right now, so and I'm going to let somebody else elaborate on that. Uh, but right now I need all of the employees to just go ahead and shut everything down and come out to the front here. Okay. >> Okay. So, we need to call our GM. >> Uh, yes. I think we have somebody that's working on that right now, but you're more than welcome to give them a call um and see if they can come out here >> cuz we have no idea what's happening. >> Yeah. Yeah. The GM does need to get out here. We're trying to have somebody get in contact with him, but if you have a faster way to get a hold of the GM, that would be fantastic. >> All right, you guys. So again, I say everybody to shut everything down and come out to the front. Okay. >> Okay. >> And again, nobody nobody can leave. All right. >> I can't let you take the food. Uh there's an issue. You're going to have to call them and get a refund on it. I apologize for that, but you may not want the food is the other issue. Okay. [Music] >> Yeah. I'm sorry you guys have to go through all this. I know this is kind of abnormal. This is it. This is pretty abnormal for us too. Um so it's a you know folks a lot higher up making this call based on what we have going on. Um so you know we're going to have some folks come in. I think they're going to want to talk to you guys. Um I'm not 100% sure how this is going to operate. Um, we'll just kind of play it by ear. Like I said, this is kind of an abnormal thing for us as well. So, uh, if you guys have any questions, we'll answer them as best as we can. Um, but we're we're only going to have so many answers for you right now. Okay. >> Uh, were there any other employees that left recently? >> Oh, recently. Uh, what was the last employee that left? >> At seven. >> Yeah. >> Uh, how many people left at seven? >> It was us and it was one other girl. >> There's one other girl. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then before her, >> it was at 5:00, too. [Music] >> 5:00. Two people left. >> At 5:00, two people left. And the one girl left at seven. >> Okay. Well, at least you guys are on the clock still, you know. >> To be on the clock. >> So, you're you're at least getting paid to do the trick. >> How's it going, Sergeant? >> Hello. >> Hi. Hi. >> All right. >> I'm doing all right. How about you guys? Not doing all right at all. >> I hear you. >> See to be wilderness here now. >> Just walk through so far just to make sure that's everybody here. Four employees. One employee left at 7. Two employees left at 5. >> The officers had to take every step to look for the poison at the restaurant. They didn't expect it to be more serious than it should have been. >> 1946 is when we got notified that >> uh the guy was at the hospital that had been poisoned at this time. >> He didn't say when. Um I don't Witzman has the receipt. I'm guessing that will tell us exactly when, but I just sent you a picture. What we're looking for is three employees that lives >> is uh the balls that >> the green balls and then whatever that Yeah, the green balls. Cuz if you flip through to the next one, they're just on top. That one's like hidden. They're just >> Oh, wow. >> Those are rat poison balls. And then that is like some sort of cleaning agent or something. I don't know. >> No. >> Yeah. >> So, okay. So, that's a lot more legit than I thought it was. >> Yeah. Okay. So, he takes one bite immediately starts vomiting, burning throat, all that other stuff. He's gave consent. They're going to go CSI is going to leave the hospital after collecting the food and the poison. They're going to go to his house, collect all the vomit samples with the poison in it. >> Okay. I'm just going to let them know what's going on real quick and then we'll start checking around. >> Yep. So, we're going to start checking around exterior trash cans. Trash cans inside. This is what we're looking for. So, it was actual rat poison was put in the food. So, it's these green balls right here. So, we're looking for anything like that. Traps that may have been broken open. Um, there's more of it. And then there's also some kind of cleaning agent was put in there. So, what happened was the guy take took one bite of this immediately started burning, vomiting. Um, so they went to the hospital. confirmed it is in fact poison hospitals. >> Yeah. >> So right now they're treating us as an attempted homicide investigation. Uh so just kind of you know trash cans, outside trash cans. Um any place inside, you know, underneath stuff, any like traps that may have been broken open, anything like that is what we're looking for. Okay. So I'm going to check the outside trash cans here. I'll go through that as investigation. Check the trash cans. Yeah. Or like was wanting us to do that right now. Um so if you guys want to check inside, I can check the outside stuff. >> Are we just going around here? Are we going in the back? >> Um ask like if uh >> wait for paper. >> Let me uh >> let me just ask if he wants to. In the end, it was discovered that there was no evidence of placing rat poison in the customer's
