I ain't touched them. >> So, you haven't seen Richard at all tonight? is what you're telling me. >> I'm not saying I didn't see him. I told you he barged in and won't let me in. >> Okay, I'm going to give you one more chance here to give me a statement about what happened here tonight. >> Man, it's going to recreate going around in a circle. I'm going to close. >> It's going to recreate from where he was in jail from the battery he gave me. >> You can't tell me you can't see a black eyes if you raise that light. You're still there. >> What are you talking about? >> Raise that light. You can. Those are not raccoon eyes, dude. >> What does that got to do with what happened tonight? >> Ask yourself. He's also got what looks like in his pocket and a bunch of in his pocket. Ski mask and gloves. >> On the 24th of March 2024, while on patrol, officer stopped a vehicle with an unusually loud exhaust. But the moment they approached, something felt off. >> Hello, Deputy Road Lake County Sheriff's Office. How you doing? Uh, reason I'm stopping you is your exhaust. You can't have your exhaust any louder than the way it comes from the factory. You got your driver's license, registration, insurance? >> I got it. >> Okay, I got you. I say it's a ticket for that for all the exhaust. >> You could I can tell you right now I'm not giving you a ticket for it. >> Are you the registered owner of this vehicle? >> Okay. Put the car in park. Shut it off for me. Can you hand me the keys real quick? >> Yeah. All right. Just sit tight. So it smells like 31. The passenger has a big like bulge in his pocket. What's up? >> She wants >> for what? >> Huh? >> For what? >> I won't. >> She's just I'll talk to her in a minute. >> I'm sorry. >> Do you mind if I pat you down for weapons or anything? >> Um, >> do you mind if I pat you down for weapons or anything? >> Yeah. >> Turn around for me. What's in your pocket right now? >> This is a charger. >> Do you mind you take it out for me? Put on the hood. Just have a sit on the bumper for >> the longer the interaction dragged on, the more uneasy the officers became. And it wasn't long before they began to see their instincts about the young driver might just be right. >> Can I step out the car, sir? This a traffic spot. All right. So, what I'm trying to figure out is you have anything on you? No, sir. Come on. Come on. No weapons, no nothing illegal on you. Yes. Can you stop touching window, sir? >> Come over here. >> I am. I ain't messing with no one. >> Don't matter. >> I know. I'm saying. Y'all said we got pulled for uh this long term. Y'all said we got pulled for what? >> What do we get for >> He's the one that pulled you over. >> Okay. >> Even with their suspicions confirmed, the officers kept digging and what they uncovered made it all worth it. >> 19 years old, you got a handgun in your waistband that I'm pretty sure has a switch on it. Switch? >> Yeah. You know what that is? Somebody a switch? Yep. You don't know what that is? >> No. >> No, definitely not. Nope. >> Who you on the phone with? Regina. >> I need y'all numbers, bro. >> We pulled him out. He has a loaded handgun in his waistband. He's not old enough to have a handgun. He's also got what looks like crack in his pocket and a bunch of weed in his pocket. Ski mask and gloves. So, it doesn't look super good. Okay. >> I'm just being real though. What did y'all What did y'all bother me for? Because >> and I'm just I'm just need everything from camp >> because the car smells like >> you're pulling your car out of it to go search it because it smells like and when you stepped out that deputy knows you had a handgun stuffed in your waistband or pocket or whatever and that's why you're putting handcuffs. Okay. >> Like honestly none of anything that would or can be in the car is not my sister's problem. She was just the driver >> and she's not in trouble for anything other than she's probably gonna get a ticket for her driver's license. That's it. >> Do me a favor and have a seat. >> Make sure you got nothing else on a >> call or nothing. >> Excuse me. Can y'all do this just one thing at least? I ain't been a jacket. Next up is a case of a crazy driver out of Ohio who pulled the unthinkable on an officer, then hit the gas, thinking he could outrun the cops during a traffic stop. >> Turn off the car. Turn off the car. Do it now. Stop the car. >> Put your hands up. [Music] >> On the 22nd of October 2023, while on patrol, an officer ran the plates of a passing car and realized that it was stolen. In the end, the driver was charged with felony assault, three counts of failure to comply, possessing a weapon while under disability, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. As shocking as Tori's case was, it was nothing compared to Brandon, a desperate father who vanished with his own son. Convinced he could get away with it, >> he went to go get in the car and put it in reverse. And that's when he asked my baby on the lap, and I said, "Not with my baby. Not with my baby." >> He's putting your child's life in danger right now. Okay. >> So, right now, >> it's going to be kidnapping. >> Put the kid down. >> Give us the air. >> Put the kid down. On the 27th of September, 2022, Flaggler County deputies rushed to a home after a terrified mother reported her one-year-old had been taken by his father. And I need you to tell me like >> literally I ordered pizza. He was coming outside. He left his gun in the car. So >> he was coming out to get it and he let the dogs out. And as he was doing that, I got the notification that the pizza was coming. So I was like, "Bring the dog back inside. Bring him back inside. The pizza's coming." And in that second he just flipped and he was like, "How do you know that?" Blah blah blah. Just like went crazy. He grabbed my phone. He started going >> 14. I copy. I'm working on it. the neighbor down the street he doesn't like and he's back in town or something and he saw his car and like that freaked him out too. He's like why is he here? >> Is there any court document saying that he's a father? >> He's on the birth certificate. >> He's on the birth certificate. Why would you do this to me? Like I was setting him up for something. I was like I I what are you doing? I was like you're freaking me out and me freaking me doing that made it worse. I don't know. He had my son the whole time. He wouldn't give him to me. We came outside. The neighbors were outside. He got he went to go get in the car and put it in reverse. And that's when he had my baby on the lap and I said, "Not with my baby. Not with my baby." And he put it in reverse and he started going and I went to grab him and I was fighting with him to give him to me and he wouldn't give him. And that's when all the neighbors came over and he was like just I was like just let him go. Just let him go because it's going to be bad. >> And they just took over. >> The neighbor tried to follow him but he lost him. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. My phone's going to die. >> Okay. >> You need to keep him. >> Do you have >> um Do you have your ID with you? >> Um near my house. >> Okay. You grab it for me. >> Right away, the officer sensed something deeper behind the mother's fear. Despite Brandon's actions, he expected her to choose what mattered most, but her response left him stunned. >> Hey, do you want to pursue charges real quick for him taking your baby? >> No. No, cuz I don't even know. In the end, Brandon was charged with kidnapping, using another individual as a shield, resisting with violence, neglecting a young person, fleeing and eluding, and reckless driving. In this next case, two officers throw caution aside, risk their lives, and charge toward a burning car in an attempt to save an unconscious man trapped inside. >> Come on. On the 24th of May 2021, two Austin police officers responded to a report concerning a burning vehicle with its driver still inside. He had suffered a medical emergency while parking his vehicle. And as a result, he left his leg on the accelerator, causing the tires to spin out and cause a fire. When the cops arrived at the scene, they had no idea that they were about to make one of the most daring rescues of their careers. >> Get extinguisher. But there was a problem. It seemed that the cops might have arrived a bit too late as the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. At this point, the cops silently prayed that the worst had not happened yet. For a moment, it almost seemed as if the man's fate had been sealed as the windshield refused to bulge despite the desperate efforts by the officer to break it. >> Hey, man. Come on. Come on. Hit it. Hit it, cousin. Come on, man. Come on. Come out. Come out. Get out. Help me. Help me. Get him real quick. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on out. Come on out. Come out. Come on. Come on. Pull. Pull. We need EMS in 1018. >> The officers had risked it all to save the dying man. And just in time before the vehicle exploded. Pull, pull, pull, pull, pull, pull, pull. >> Turn him over. He's having a seizure. >> In the end, the man was taken to Dell Satin Medical Center where he was treated and eventually made a full recovery. Then there's the case of an unhinged older man who without warning unleashed gunfire on his unsuspecting neighbors. >> Sorry, I had to do this. Sorry. >> On the 9th of July 2022, officers responded to a 9/11 call from a distressed woman alleging that her neighbor had opened fire on her and her boyfriend as they approached their residence. When the cops arrived at the scene, they did not know that they were about to deal with one of the worst neighbors of all time. >> Okay, >> they shot at us from the back. Look at this. My boyfriend Two G victims. One shot back another 906. So we >> need another shot in the in the in the stomach. >> Hey, stop. I need somebody to clear the apartment. Walk towards me. >> Keep walking. Keep your hands up. Down on your knees. >> Down on your knees. >> Down on your knees. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> What? >> Hands behind your back. >> Let's go. Come on. That's >> sorry I had to do this. >> Sorry people stand me up. [Music] >> These people long enough. [Music] >> Can we take everything out of your pockets? >> I'm going to go ahead and sign you up. Yeah. >> You shot, >> huh? >> You shot? >> Yeah, I shot. >> No. Are you shot? >> Are you hurt, sir? >> Oh, no. >> At this point, it was becoming clear that this crazy neighbor decided to end the lies of his neighbors just because he disliked them. >> So, let's do our job, okay? And we'll we'll get you double handcuffs. That way, they're not >> that they're not too tight on you. Okay. >> But I did it. Okay, >> I didn't do no more. >> What is it? >> People me long enough. >> When they arrived at the police station, one of the gunshot victims began to narrate the details of the incident. It was here that the terrifying details of the incident began to unfold. >> Carlos turned back to go at him, to tackle him down, and take the gun away. So Carlo, >> I tried I tried to stop Carlos and that's when he came towards our wall and started at us as I was on the floor. Carlos was on the floor trying to get to me. I was trying to get inside my home. >> So um Carlos was first trying to tackle him. >> No, Carlos was behind the wall. He started at us and when Carlos tried to go towards him, he was already multiple times on his floor. >> And after he shot Carlos, he went to you. >> I went Yes. He came towards me at the doorway. I was in between the doors, both the back screen door and the back door. He came at me and started shooting at me and telling me, "You like that?" And then when we were going in the house, he hit Carlos with the back of the gun. He tried to started trying to attack us. Erica and Cody were telling him, "Shoot them. Shoot them. They ain't going to do shit." >> However, even more horrifying was the fact that the suspect showed no remorse at all for the crime that he had just committed. >> We're just doing our job. Okay. It's just precaution. Okay. >> I mean, you can you just go ahead and put your back and then just we'll slide you or right 1100. If I was >> Let me put my leg in there first. >> I didn't mean to do that, did I? But >> you picked me off. >> You don't need medical attention. You're all good. That means you don't want to work. So you just say you got PTSD. I worked all my life, you know. >> Yes, sir. >> And people like that pissed me off when they when they tried to with me. >> I mean, I worked all my life. >> Yeah. >> So today, so when they came back and they when they were walking across >> they're start she start right through my backyard all the time. Okay. >> They don't walk through the front. So, was this in the front yard when they were walking through or the backyard? >> The backyard. >> They were in the backyard. Where? And so, were you out there on the little picnic table? >> Yeah. I got a little picnic table back there. And I like to sit. I got a grill and you know, I enjoy life, you know. I take good care of my place. >> Yeah. >> Look at my >> Oh, absolutely. I noticed that when I went out there. You have a nice flag put up and you have your lawns all cut. >> Yeah, man. Uh, James, the reason we want to talk to you is about the stuff that happened out here. Okay. Terrible. >> Eventually, he began to tell his own side of the story. It was here that the cops realized that he was even crazier than he looked. >> These people, her boyfriend, he's a pretty big guy, you know, and he's already more or less threatened me a couple of times because he, you know, he's a lot bigger than him, I guess. So anyway, all of a sudden, um, they were gone and I was sitting outside. I was drinking a few beers and I am afraid of him and her do. So I did have a gun outside. I I've been in the army. >> I have a right to bear arms. Absolutely. >> And I'm afraid that they're going to have to they get a chance they can hurt me. So I was just sitting there drinking a beer. And when they walked by, she started yelling again and I said, "Shut, you know, shut up." And then he started coming towards me. So I reached over there and I grabbed him. And it happened so fast. I don't remember what happened. I knew I I shot him. I I I hope I didn't kill him, but I I him. He took off running. I again she was running and I may have shot at her, too. I don't know. It just happened real quick cuz I've been pissed off at these people for like a year now. I hope I didn't hurt him too bad. In the end, he was charged with first-degree murder, attempt to commit a felony, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.
