Mommy fall down a stair. >> Your mommy fell down the stairs. Mommy got a baby. >> What's mommy doing now? >> No doing. >> You're giving mommy a cuddle. Good girl. >> Often times it's the parents who are tasked with keeping their kids safe. But sometimes the roles are reversed. And it's the brave little ones who rise to the moment when danger strikes, doing whatever it takes to keep their parents safe and alive. Here [Music] are jaw-dropping, emotional, and downright inspiring moments when kids stepped up in the face of danger, doing the unthinkable to save their parents. Starting with the heroic case of a 10-year-old boy who saved his mom from drowning in their backyard pool after she suffered a seizure. On August the 5th, 2022 in Kingston, Oklahoma, 10-year-old Gavin Keaney was just enjoying a peaceful day in the backyard with his mom, Lorie Keaney, when everything changed in an instant. One moment it was sunshine and smiles, and the next Lorie was in the pool suffering a violent epileptic seizure. With no time to scream for help, this brave 10-year-old had no choice but to do what was necessary. [Music] [Music] [Music] Just like a well-trained Coast Guard, he kept his cool and stood his ground. Panic wasn't an option. His mom was in danger. And as far as he was concerned, nothing was going to take his mom. Not on his watch. [Music] As he held his mom's head above the water, the family dog continued barking, alerting the father inside the house of danger. He rushed out only to see the heroics of his son. [Music] [Music] In the end, Gavin's actions saved his mom, and he was lorded with a saving a life plot. Just like Gavin Keaney, 4-year-old Amelia German proved that age is just a number when it comes to being a hero. Her sharp instincts and quick thinking stopped a disaster in its tracks and saved her family's home from going up in flames. Are you alone? Dad's going to kill me. >> Watch out. >> On June the 26th, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida, Daniel German had just made French fries and chicken nuggets and stepped away to brush his teeth. But in those few minutes, disaster struck and the air fryer burst into flames. His four-year-old daughter, Amelia German, spotted the fire. And instead of panicking, this little powerhouse kicked into gear like a pro. >> Fire alone. >> That's going to kill me. >> After considering the options before her, she went for the smartest one. >> She said, "Daddy, there's you got to come see this." And she's doing this with her hands. [Music] As the family recounted the situation, the caring heroine made a shocking statement. >> I was trying not to hit the dogs and there was plastic dripping. >> He burnt his feet. >> I burnt my feet. Her smart and quick thinking prevented the situation from escalating any further as the dad threw the fryer into the pool. These kids saved their parents and family from pain and mishap and so did three-year-old Emma with her thoughts and actions saving her pregnant mom. >> Hello. >> Mommy fell down. >> Your mommy fell down the stair. A terrifying event unfolded on November the 18th, 2015 in Naly near Bristol, UK. Katherine Bazard, a pregnant mother, fell down the stairs and landed hard on her stomach, knocking her unconscious. No adults were around to help, but 3-year-old Emma Bazard didn't freeze. She didn't wait. With her mom unresponsive and no one else in sight, little Emma took charge, stepping up in a way no one could have expected. Abulance service. Tell me exactly what's happened. >> Um, >> hello. >> Mommy fall down a stair. >> Your mommy fell down a stair? >> I've got a baby. >> Sorry. She's got a baby. >> What's your name? >> Emma. >> Emma. How old are you, Emma? >> Three. >> You're three. All right, Emma. My name's Sarah. We're going to help your mommy. Okay. Mommy's breathing, is she? >> Yes. All right, my lovely. Bear with me in seconds. Okay, stay on the phone. I'm not going to hang up the phone. Okay. >> In mommy's tummy. >> The baby's in mommy's tummy. Okay, sweetie. All right, my darling. That's okay. Good girl, Emma. You're a superstar. Your mom is going to be really proud of you. >> She remained calm and collected, giving specific details of her mom's condition to the call handler. A kind of composure that transcends her age. >> What's mommy doing now? >> Very. You're giving mommy a cuddle. Good girl. >> Yeah. >> You're lucky. Is that what Fanta's going to bring you? A baby brother. [Music] >> Is mommy coming? >> Oh, okay. >> No, is not bring it. Mommy's going to bring it. Is she? [Music] >> As the call progressed, she gave the handler their house address, speeding up the response time of the paramedics. On arrival, it was discovered that as a result of the fall, the mom had ruptured her placenta. Had she not been taken to get the drugs she needed on time, her baby would have arrived 7 weeks early. Emma's heroic behavior saved her mom and unborn brother. For her incredible courage, she was honored with a bravery award by the ambulance service. Just like Emma, 5-year-old Lola Brisbane took calmness in the face of distress to a whole new level. Handling a situation that would have adults perplexed and saving her mom from a great mishap. >> Okay, tell me what's happened. >> She off the sofa. >> And what's your name, please? >> Um, Lola. >> Lola was just telling me that her her mom's uh fallen off the sofa. She thinks she's had a seizure. On April the 5th, 2024, in Pod Hall near Spalding, Lincolnshire, UK, 5-year-old Lola's mom, Christy Brisbane, had rolled off the sofa and began to have an epileptic seizure. A site that would have many adults confused and not knowing what to do. That wasn't the case with Lola, who handled the situation in the most calm and collected manner. >> Ambulance service. Is the patient breathing? >> Yes. >> And are they awake? >> No. Are they breathing noisily? Are they making noises when they breathe? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Tell me what's happened. >> She pulled off the sofa. >> And what's your name, please? >> Um, Lola. >> Lola. How old are you, Lola? >> Five. >> You're five, are you? And is this your mommy? E. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I do need to just ask you some questions, Lola, to get the best help arranged for your mom. Okay. So, is she breathing? Can you see her breathing? >> Yeah. >> Now, I want you to count to 10 and tell me if you can see her taking a breath in that 10 seconds. >> Okay. 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. I can see her taking a breath. She did take breath, did she? >> Yeah. >> Okay. And is it noisy breathing? Can you hear any funny noises? >> Uh, no. >> So, is there any noises at all when she's breathing? >> Only sometimes. >> An ambulance is being arranged for you. It is traveling as fast as it can. Are there any other grown-ups there with you? >> No. >> Has your mommy had a seizure in the last hour? Has she been shaking all over her body? >> Yeah. >> So, if you can move anything out of her way so she doesn't hurt herself. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Don't try to move her while she's having that while she's shaking. And don't try to open her mouth or put anything into it. >> Okay. >> And is she still shaking now? >> Only a little bit. >> Okay. So, just keep checking she's breathing. I am staying on the phone with you. Okay. >> She is still breathing a little bit. >> Okay. Thank you, Lola. >> Is that mommy? I can hear. >> Yeah. >> Thanks to Lola, who removed everything around her mom and called for the needed medical help. Her actions gave her mom the space to recover and the medical team time to react. >> Lola. >> Lola, can you pass the phone to me? >> Yeah. or put me on loudspeaker so mommy can hear me. Um, >> you're on mommy's watch. >> Hello Kirsty. Can you hear me? Watch. >> Okay. Is mommy awake yet? >> Not that I know. >> Okay. Was that her that woke up and said your name then? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And she's gone back to sleep again. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Have you got any brothers or sisters there with you, Lola? >> No. >> No. It's just you and mommy that live at the house, is there? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And my dog and my rabbit. >> And your dog and your rabbit. >> And what's your dog called? >> Robin. >> Robin. And where where is Robin now? >> Um, he's on a sofa. >> Okay. Could you put him in another room? >> Yeah. He won't come out this room. >> Okay, that's okay. >> About mommy. >> Yes. Okay. You're being you're being very brave, Lola. >> Now I'm shutting him out of this room cuz I've got his favorite treat in the kitchen. >> Oh, have you shut her in the kitchen then? >> Yes. >> Okay, good girl. But how's how's mommy doing? Is she still breathing? >> Uh, >> a little bit. >> No. Okay. >> Good girl. Where's mommy? >> Hello. >> Okay. >> Hello. It's Emma. She's um she's on medication for epilepsy at the moment, but it's not controlled at all. >> Okay. That ambulance is traveling to you as as fast. >> Yeah, they're here now, I think. Yeah. Come in. Come in. >> They're there with you now, are they? >> Yeah, they're here now. >> Okay, I will leave you with them then. Okay, you take care. Lola was brilliant. She's been very brave. Yeah, she is. She's brilliant. >> Help finally arrived and her mom received all the medical aid that she needed. As for Lola, the East Midlands Ambulance Service gave her a bravery award. From one brave and smart kid to another, here's the case of a six-year-old Bayard Dean Lewis, who could tell her mom was having a critical health challenge just by the way she was sleeping. >> Is there? >> Yes, she's on the floor. >> On the floor? Is she awake? No, I can tell she's not sleeping cuz she snores. >> She's snoring, is she? >> She's not snoring. So, I don't know what's happening. >> On February the 4th, 2021 in Conway, Wales, 6-year-old Bayer Dean Lewis was enjoying a quiet moment playing a computer card game with her mom, Lucy Williams, when the unthinkable happened. Lucy suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. With no time to waste and no adults around to step in, Baya did something extraordinary. >> Hello. >> Can you just get someone to come here and check my mommy, please? >> Okay.
