686 >> What is that? >> Um so it's over the whole Tik Tok thing. Um they're going to limit the >> Try to ban Tik Tok and all that. >> Our car was egged, so we egged their car back and I don't know why somebody decided to call the police. >> I mean it's about free speech, I figured. >> That's actually vandalism. >> Yeah, I guess so. >> Some teenagers are convinced that reckless online challenges are just harmless fun. But what happens when those same challenges land them in handcuffs instead of trending hashtags? >> [screaming] >> There are times when ultra dumb teens realize they're getting jailed over stupid online challenges. Our first case involves this teenager who decided it was a good idea to take part in a Tik Tok prank involving a firearm. >> 340 from the Mercedes. And then he parked it and then >> Yeah, then they were standing out. >> I I was probably just messing with a friend cuz I ain't pointing no finger at nobody. Person. >> Okay. >> On March the 28th, 2025, officers were deployed to a Dick's Sporting Goods store after a disagreement between teenagers escalated and one of them allegedly pointed a loaded firearm at a group of teens and later at a security guard who told him to leave. As officers began questioning the teenagers, one of them chose a course of action that quickly drew even more attention to himself. >> All right. Take everything >> No, I can't search me. You're not allowed to search me. >> I can search your bag. >> 100% I can search >> Let him search the bag, dog. >> Let him search the bag. >> Don't touch it. >> All right. >> He's acting like the camera >> I'm just saying the guy >> times. I don't know his name. I swear to god. >> You walked the same over here. >> Who does know him? >> I'm sorry, sir. >> We're talking to those kids that walked away. >> done with it? >> I don't know. He's standing in front of >> Can I get my bag now? >> We were talking to those kids that walked away. >> Am I done with it? >> I don't know. >> You got your bag now? >> I can throw my stuff. Tyler, stop, bro. Stop doing stuff. >> Nobody knows who this kid is. We get a call with all of you guys matching the descriptions. >> to a bunch of people. I wasn't involved in nothing. I was I just knew them. I don't know their names or nothing. >> All right. >> Y'all pull up my waistband, you can search me everything. >> All right. You got an ID with you? >> No, I do not. >> Where y'all from? >> I'm from Shepherd Lane. >> Are you guys all friends? >> Um, we were in >> I'm friends with these people. >> These kids right here are all my friends. >> So, you don't know the girls? Do you know him? >> No, I don't know him. >> All right, tough guy, what's your first name? >> Jeremy. >> Tyler. >> You just need to come a little more respectful. >> What's your last name? >> my things. >> No, here's the deal. Let me tell you how this goes, okay? >> Yeah. >> When we roll up and we get a report of someone with a gun and you start mouthing off and being a head, that doesn't mean you get to run this. We're in charge. You want to go to jail? I'll take you to jail right now. I don't care. >> I'm not doing anything. >> Then quit running your mouth. Everyone else here is being respectful except for you, curly head. You're not free to go, partner. No, you're not free to go. That's not how this works. >> You hold still. >> I need to get his You talk to him if you want to finish getting his information. >> Okay. >> Well, >> I'm asking. >> What's your first name? >> The officers proceeded to question one of the store's security guards, who provided a key detail that helped bring the events into clearer focus. >> What are they saying about this Mercedes now? >> So, he pointed the from the Mercedes and [music] then he parked it and then >> Yeah, then they were standing out here. So, I don't >> Where were they standing? Yeah, I wasn't here. >> Right on this corner like you go past the garage right here. >> So, it's probably somewhere here with the Mercedes. >> That's what I believe, yeah. >> Let me see if that car is on. >> If they didn't leave. But he's saying he pointed the from the Mercedes. >> I saw a lot of another large group of kids >> So, he's saying he doesn't know any of these kids. They're They're all saying that they don't know any of these kids, so. All right, just stay here with him then. >> The officers were still working to establish what led to the firearm being involved, but most of the teenagers appeared reluctant to fully cooperate. >> Yeah, this is a serious situation here. >> We We We're not doing nothing wrong. >> Listen, just be cool and shut up, bro. >> Bro, I'm not doing nothing. >> You're good. I You've been respectful. I appreciate you. >> Of course, man. >> I don't I don't give anyone problems unless they they give problems. No need to. Give respect, show respect. >> That's what I always say. That's how my grandmother raised me. >> Good. Glad you learned. Stay right here, man. 870. Did you already talk with Doug and them? >> No. >> Okay, so he has >> on him. Okay. >> So, he's 16 from Cleveland. >> I just want to make sure they don't have more than they need in the car. >> Well, there's a I guess a black Mercedes that he was in and pointed out of. We don't know who I don't know if he pointed at them or not. So, that's what we got to kind of figure out. >> Oh, so he was in the car pointing at the car. >> Well, that's pure That's what security said. >> Yeah, I talked to the redhead big security guy. He said he made it sound like they were standing here pointing one at the Mercedes. >> If >> Yeah. >> those >> drove off cuz they got scared. >> Okay, we can we can verify that. I heard it the other way, but it happened somewhere here. >> Yeah. >> He was of no help with my cameras. I asked him, he was like, "No, there should be a camera >> I mean, ours may have caught something depending where it goes, but Yep, good idea, for sure. >> In situations like this, the suspect often believes that they're in control and unlikely to be caught. Whether that belief holds depends entirely on how the next events will play out. >> Stop. Stop. Pull your hoodie up so I can see your waistband. Go back. Watch your right. Watch your right. Get your hands behind your back. You all stay there. Don't move. >> What's that? >> Is it on my jacket? >> Where's the All right. >> Yeah. >> Are you there? >> Yeah. >> Do you understand your rights? >> I understand my rights. >> You got an idea on anything? >> No. >> No idea. >> What what what uh What's like the report? Like what happened? This isn't about like anything else. It's just about >> about you pointing a gun at someone. Why you think we showed up >> I ain't even seen no one pointing at me. But uh >> You definitely did. >> I saw a flashlight. That's all I saw. I looked back and I saw a flashlight. Uh It was I was probably just messing with a friend cuz I ain't pointing no random person. >> You know those kids over there? >> Like two of them, couple of them. Yeah. >> Okay. So you just pointed it at a friend. >> Yeah, I guess so. >> Yeah, which one? >> Uh I couldn't even tell you cuz I don't I don't >> they were your friend. >> Yeah, no I'm saying I couldn't tell you I I pointed it at cuz I don't even know like, you know what I'm saying? >> So you're just messing around. >> Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. Y'all can roll this window down a little bit. It's hot in here. Please. Thank you. >> [clears throat] >> Sash grits subtle slip and run down on with the beam. Mine is well fit stove light. So it was goofy can't see. I swung his eye out on 30 on my way. >> He was eventually charged with severe menacing. The investigation later revealed that the entire chain of events began as a Tik Tok prank involving a firearm. In the next case, we have this mother-daughter duo who appeared to view egging vehicles as nothing out of the ordinary. >> What's up, Ty mama? >> Like a week ago, it was like Cody Mooney egged everybody's cars. I didn't tell you about that. >> And egg game that these kids are going. I listen, I've known about this for weeks. >> On April the 23rd, 2024, officers responded to reports of a drunk mother throwing raw eggs at a vehicle with her teenage daughter. When an officer arrived at their house, she spoke to the mother and daughter. Everything felt lightweight to them, but in reality, the situation had already taken on a seriousness they were not yet capable of recognizing. >> Hey, open the garage back up, please. >> Bravo 502, she just went into the garage and shut the door. Hello. Ma'am? >> Yes. >> Hey, it's Deputy Thornton, Nassau County Sheriff's Office. Hey, how are you? >> Good, you? >> I'm doing all right. So, I don't really know what's going on. I have another deputy that's somewhere else. Do you have any any idea why we're here right now? >> No. >> H 30602, I'm 10-12. Okay. So, he's on his way here now. Um so, I guess discuss with you whatever was happening. >> Okay. Who sent you what? >> Oh, alarm to her residence. >> Yeah, you can get out. You're it's fine. >> All I know is that these kids appear to be teenagers, and that's it. That's all I can >> Okay. So, what what's your name? Is there more Is there more people in the car? Okay. Why'd you say I'm What'd you say? >> I'm sure you know. >> I know what? >> My name. I thought you would have. >> Why >> I wasn't I just thought >> Why would I know your name? >> Because the people called the police and know who we are. >> No, I don't I have no idea who your name is. >> you're here for a reason. This >> Okay. All right. So, how about we step outside of the garage? Okay, I understand what you're saying now. I was confused about maybe I ran into you in the past. Okay, so why am I here? Cuz I'm a little confused right now. >> No, you're not. You know. You're confused? >> I'm confused. >> Why you were told to come here? >> Right. So, there's another officer on a call in reference to something and I just came by to see if you guys were home. >> Oh, yeah, we were just >> We We drove by her friend's house. >> It's like the ongoing joke about egging people's cars and it's been I'm sure the You've heard that the police have been called before. It's like a whole big thing, but our cars were egged, so we egged their car back and I don't know why somebody decided to call the police again knowing that it's a joke, but I've spoken to the police before about this. >> Okay. >> Not regarding my vehicle, but regarding someone else's vehicle, so >> Mhm. Okay, so not regarding your vehicle, someone else's, but you spoke When did you speak to them last? Cuz I'll be honest, I have no idea. I I didn't ever hear about this. >> tell you, but it was >> [laughter] >> I DIDN'T TELL YOU. IT WAS LIKE >> THAT'S OKAY, that happens sometimes, mama. >> weeks ago. It was like Cody Mooney egged everybody's cars. I didn't tell you about that, but >> Okay. >> I'm going to talk to Bill. >> Hello. >> Hey, honey. >> What did you do? >> Nothing. >> Why are cops here? >> We got arrested. >> So, I'm Deputy Thornton. Deputy Hutcherson is on his way over here. He's the one that's working whatever all of this is. I just came by to see if you guys were here. I was just given a vehicle description and to see if you guys were here and I just happened to >> We're here. >> pass by as you guys were pulling in the driveway. So, um >> She She let them in. It's an egg game that these kids are going. I Listen, I've known about this for weeks and not any of these kids are innocent, so >> Okay. >> whatever. >> All right, and I like I said, I'm not sure the other party who called it this time. I'm I just was sent over here to see if the car was here. That's all. That's all I know right now. So, he is on his way though, um so he should be here any minute. >> Is he taking a charge? >> It is. It is very much a charge. >> We have four kids in the side. Can we get it? >> Darn it. >> Yeah. Um >> No, we're not going anywhere. Your wife's not >> going. >> I Sorry, I was going to grab my chapstick out of the car. >> Okay, you can grab your chapstick. Yes. You are You are detained right now though, just so we're clear. >> Okay, this has been going on for so long. >> Okay, I'm I didn't know that this was like a thing. >> I didn't either until like a month ago. >> Okay. All right, yeah. >> know where it is? This is This is >> I think it's in the passenger seat cuz your mom just put it on. >> an ongoing thing. Yeah. >> Excuse Would you like to put on an outfit? A mermaid outfit? >> No, I'm good actually. No. I'm I think I'm all right with that. >> After some time, the detective assigned to the case arrived and the tone of the investigation changed. Things were no longer as simple as they had been with the first officer. >> Why are you causing problems on this fine evening? >> Um well, you know, you just want to get them back. >> It is a full moon. >> It is a full moon. You know how crazy us women are. >> On a full moon, it'd be like that sometimes. >> I I don't know where your chapstick is. >> I have another one, it's okay. >> Hey, and the and the crazy thing is the neighbor that we ran into >> Mhm. >> he's here. >> Is that him? Hm? >> And you found the signal one? >> So, the young one was driving and she said she's the one that ate the car. She said it's been like a a thing that all the kids have been doing to each other, apparently. But I I didn't go any further than that, so cuz it's >> No, you can speak right I'm right at home. >> You know what? Turn around and put your hands behind your back. You are now under arrest. >> For what? >> 55 or 2, though. Especially you wanted to admit to doing it. >> I did not do that. >> Put your hands together like you're praying. Like you're praying. >> Um was really necessary. I'm just Did she do anything wrong? >> I don't I have no idea cuz I wasn't there, but he asked her to step over there so that way we could conduct our investigation and she refused to >> You let me to get in? >> Yep. So that's a problem. That's called resisting. >> How much have we had to drink today? >> Um two white claws. >> Okay. Are you willing to submit to field sobriety exercises? So a refusal can be used against you in court later on. >> Okay. >> All right. So I also have suspicions of you being impaired while driving your vehicle. >> I'm not driving it. >> I have will witnesses that put you in the vehicle. You and your daughter swapped seats and you drove when you fled the scene. >> Nope. >> I have witnesses telling me that. Are you willing to submit to field sobriety? >> Nope. >> Okay. >> Dispatch, is this an additional signal 55? >> Correct. This is a whiskey foxtrot signal 56. >> phone on me, is that okay? Or do you need it? It's in my It's in my waistband, like my pocket. There's nothing else on me. >> Did I hear a baby crying or something? Okay, you can have a seat. Go. >> There's like a There you go. >> All right. So you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. >> Yes, sir. >> You have the right to talk to an attorney and have one present with you while you're being questioned. Do you understand each of these rights that I explained to you? >> Yes, sir. >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me? >> Um I don't know what to say. >> Either you want to answer questions or you don't want to answer questions without an attorney. >> Uh I won't, I guess. >> Okay. You will not answer questions? >> like a problem? I don't really know how >> Absolutely not. I'm going to go off of the evidence I have. >> So, that's your right. If you do if you are invoking your Miranda right, then that means that you do not want to speak to us and answer questions with us. Right now. >> Oh, then I will, I guess. Do you need my ID? >> You won't answer questions? Is that what you're saying? I'm just trying to make sure I'm clear. >> I guess not. >> Okay. All right. Thanks. That's all we needed. >> I haven't read them to her yet, but she's refused field sobriety. >> Okay. All right. Help me understand what's up. >> So, the So, the daughter was >> driving when they pulled back up in the >> Correct. Well, here's the thing. The garage shut and then they they The the garage shut and then they reopened. >> Apparently, a neighbor This has been a dispute between her and another girl in school. >> Mhm. >> A neighbor was coming into the neighborhood. Mom was out egging the vehicle in the driveway. There's eggs all over the car, everything else. Uh >> Is there actual damage to the car? >> Not that I know of. >> Okay. >> But, it can cause potential damage because they're eggs. It will peel paint off. >> Okay. >> So, the guy got out and talked to them. Actually, they followed them down the road. They went into a Sonoma where Jeremy lives. They got caught back there. They got out and talked to them. Mom jumped in the driver's seat of the vehicle and took off. >> So, >> and they identified her as the suspect because apparently, their parents live next door. >> Okay. So, when I pulled up in the garage, they saw me pull up behind. I initiated my lights and then they started shutting the garage door and I yelled, "Hey, open the garage back up." The garage door fully shut and then they opened it back up and when they opened it back up, mom was getting out of the passenger side. So, they very much they very easily could have switched seats. >> The detective returned to the mother for another attempt at conversation and how she handled that chance could influence the outcome of the case. >> Do you understand each of these rights that I explained to you? >> What am I being arrested for? >> Do you understand the rights that I explained to you? >> What am I being arrested for? >> Do you understand each of these rights that I explained to you? >> Yes. What am I >> Okay. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me? >> No. >> Okay. So, you're under You're under arrest for criminal mischief. >> For what? >> Criminal mischief. >> Egging a car. >> Can you get my husband? >> I'll work on that in a minute. Turn around that way for me so I can make sure they double lock and don't lock down on you. You can spin back around and have Lean back against the back. >> In the end, the mother was charged with disorderly intoxication, loitering and prowling, and criminal mischief. While her daughter was handed over to the juvenile justice system. Just when it seemed like these online-fueled incidents couldn't get any more bizarre, along came Ava, an 11-year-old who falsely reported a after drawing inspiration from a video that she had seen online. >> She's going to read you something and then we're going to ask you some questions. What's your name? >> But like the extent of what she said is exactly that. She saw a video on YouTube and followed the directions. Like that's what she did. >> On July the 26th, 2023, officers were dispatched to a neighborhood after a little girl made an emergency prank call claiming that someone had been Upon arrival, the officers began questioning the girl with her mother and father present. And it soon became clear that the phone call was only the start of a much larger problem. >> So Right. And then said, "Oh, no, I I made a mistake." Or it was just something like >> I think it was a sorry, I dialed the wrong number. >> Sorry, I dialed the wrong number. So, she built herself up to doing this. And then that was the the disconnect. And then the text of the whole and somebody with a gun and somebody happening started at a different location. Where did you say it started at? Okay. Where at home close? Okay. How How did you How'd you come up with that? >> I was just the person that called the police. >> It's an awful elaborate plan here to just say it just popped in your head. >> Did you see something somewhere, somebody? Did somebody >> You need to >> do this and say that like where did this come from? Really confused. >> Ava, you need to tell the exact truth. I don't want a story. I don't care what it is. I want the exact truth. >> You can't make this go away by being quiet. The only thing you're going to end up with that that's going to happen to you is you're going to end up in a pair of handcuffs going to our our juvenile facility. I'm not going to mince any words with you. That's a a very distinct possibility of what can happen here today. And look at your mother. She didn't have any part in this. This was all you. >> It's the name. Yesterday I think I remember saying something to him. He was talking to my other brother that day. And then he didn't say anything today and he didn't say anything. >> Was he part of planning this with you? >> No, he just said it and then >> What did he say? >> He said it was my idea. >> This is your brother? >> Yeah, he said it yesterday. He said >> to get him? Well, we can when we're done with you. Go ahead a minute. Let me call [ __ ] >> And then he said he needs to call 911. No, he didn't call 911. >> So, you're trying to blame this on your brother? >> He said I should do it. >> Did he Was he Was he with you when you made this call? >> No. >> Okay, was he with you when you made these threats? >> No. >> Okay, then then then you did this. You were on your own for this. And if your brother's 7 years old, you're not going to blame your 7-year-old brother for this. This was all your decision. Call my brother. Okay. >> To call >> 911 to do what? What he say to call 911? >> He said just call 911. You can ask him now. >> So then So can I ask him now? >> What if he told you to go up on the roof and jump off the roof? Would you do that? So what's the difference? This was your choice. Where did Where was your brain when you came to the point said, "Let's make the call 911." It was a 42-second call. >> So I'm going to I'm going to explain to you what what she said to them. Since she's she's not going to do it. She said that someone was a Basically, I point from the Chick-fil-A up in Palm Coast that the person was following a van that the other person was being held in and they were on I-95 and then said they were pulled over on the side of I-95 at the 234 mile marker, which seems awful specific, which is almost to the South County line. So we not only had Port Orange Police Department, New Smyrna Police Department, Edgewater Police Department, Volusia Sheriff's Office, Brevard Sheriff's Office because it was so close to the county line to include a helicopter. >> Highway Patrol. >> Uh Florida Florida Highway Patrol. Uh probably no less than two dozen law enforcement officers that are all lights and siren running to cuz it is probably the most serious 911 call we would ever get. And with the information that was being given, it gave the uh uh the optics that it was legitimate at first, you know? >> So I have something really weird with that with that phone. When we first got that, there was the phone kept ringing non-stop, ringing ringing in with me. And I was picking it up and there was like people talking and like I'm like, "Hello? Hello?" And like non-stop, like I mean every 4 seconds there was a call coming in with random numbers and I didn't know that. And I was like, "Block contact. Block contact." Like as soon as we got that phone number >> Okay. >> Every 10 minutes like this. >> That has nothing That has nothing to do with what went on today. >> Under different circumstances, her actions may have been written off as those of a child, but the gravity of the allegation made this a very different story. >> So, I'm No, what I'm What I'm saying is when I picked up the phone, when Owen first charged that phone a few days ago, the phone was ringing and then it stopped again, right? I I don't know. Something's up with that phone line. >> Well, she said that she did it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, she So, it has nothing to do with that. I mean, you know, you get phone numbers that are wrong to people that have some different activity, but it has nothing to do with She's already told us that she did that. >> Yeah. >> What What what What were you What were you planning on >> Just bullying her? >> This one she was the one I'm recognizing. This This one doesn't have that. >> Well, what did you think of >> Same Same verbage. What he wants to do is take the phone and And yet, so I don't know why I don't know why this one is like that. Yeah, one thing which one Spanish. >> Because you wanted to make a joke, that's >> and find you. >> Would that be funny if that happened? Cuz I can tell you that would be even more serious than what you're you're looking at right now. >> You physically see your father walk up to the sheriff, military, everybody thanking for your service. And then you do like this. You were Everybody. >> You realize how embarrassing this is to your parents? You think they want to have all of us in their garage talking to them their child about something like this? >> I want to know the exact way that you made up this story. >> I want to know where you heard this story. I want to know how it came into your head. >> So, take take a minute and think about it. And I promise if you lie again, we're we're just going to take you with us and then your parents are going to have to come pick you up from the juvenile facility. That may happen anyway. I'm not going to lie to you. This is about as serious as >> What? Can I please tell my mom? I need to tell the truth. >> Let's stop. >> He said it was a prank call and >> And did she uh Were you guys at home? >> Uh she didn't know any There's only one other There's only one person by homes that lives out here that's not her. >> As it turned out, her brother wasn't the one who convinced her to make the call. The real influence came from somewhere else, but whoever, or perhaps whatever, planted the idea in her head never bothered to warn her about the implications. >> So, you saw a video that said about >> I'll call you back. Hey Ms. Carla. All right, so she said that she saw some video about hoaxes and stuff like that. I don't know I don't think she thought it was funny. Maybe I don't I don't know what she was thinking. She's getting warned up by her parents right now. Yes, she did do it. That's what we're trying to get to the bottom of. I I heard something about it being a joke. Right? Is that what she said? Did she say >> She just told me that she saw a video on YouTube, doesn't know who the creator was, but saw this video about how fun it is to fake call 911 claiming there's some kind of major emergency, somebody's got to somebody's trying to get hurt, and she basically wanted to recreate that because she thought it'd be fun. >> Did you catch that, Ms. Carl? Uh we're looking up the cuz I remember seeing something that PR put out about swatting, so we're trying to look up that legislation real quick. >> I I'm pretty sure it's going to be the felony swatting thing. >> Okay. So, we're looking >> uh I I think she's probably going to 10-15 and go out there. >> Yeah, we're looking at 10-15 for the felony swatting. All right. Yes, ma'am. All right, bye-bye. >> Like many pranksters before her, Ava never stopped to think about what could happen if things went [music] wrong. Unfortunately for her, that realization was about to arrive far too late. >> I'm going to explain this to you before before it happens here. The legislation that's out there makes this a felony crime. It's it's totally the same type of thing as swatting. I don't know if you've heard about it that well. They use the internet or use a non-emergency phone to bring a massive police response on a on a house and things like that in the uh intentions of, you know, creating something for the for the person who's out of the house. Well, this is the same thing. She reached out to law enforcement via 911. Um faked a forcible felony crime, one of the most serious ones, and initiated a response that included uh multiple agencies along with a helicopter, and that's probably a thousand dollars an hour to run. Um so, this this is a felony. So, while we figure out what's going to happen here, she's she's going to have handcuffs and sit in the back of of the police car. And what will likely happen after that is we have a family resource center that she'll go to, she'll get processed, and you'll pick her up and bring her back home with a court date. Um here's the here's the takeaway from this is that I don't think that there would be significant criminal consequences to her, but you as parents, it's time to intervene if she needs a treatment or she needs a pill. Obviously, she doesn't need to have a phone or anything like that, but she can do something like this. >> We have had her non-stop tested this year. 504 programs, non-stop working with this kid. >> I don't I don't fault you folks as parents. >> It's 11, right? >> I believe yeah. 11 years old. So, she's not going to probably a 100% chance she's not going to go to >> They're going to take her. >> Okay. Not going to go to the uh >> Should I volunteer to really bring her there? >> No, we we have to do that. We have policies that we have to work with. I can't I can't bend on that one. >> There we go. >> I'm trying to help SHE'S HURTING >> SHE CAN'T SIT IN A DENTIST OFFICE. THAT'S WHY I'M SAYING >> DEEP BREATHS. >> I'M NOT LEAVING IT. >> LET'S THINK CAREFULLY. Don't make this don't make this hard. >> Can she come with you? >> She's coming with you. >> No, I I she'll she'll be out there. >> [screaming] >> She is hurting. >> She's not going to go over BY THE HOSPITAL. >> DADDY, IT HURTS. >> SO, STOP AND LISTEN TO ME. What's your name? Avon? Avon. Stop struggling, okay? They're not going to hurt you. Yeah, they're not going to hurt you. >> Cypress tree. You're asking the wrong guy. >> They're not going to hurt you, okay? They're just He's you cuz it's our policy, okay? >> Listen carefully what's going to happen here. No one's going to hurt you. You're going to sit in the car for now, okay? If you go somewhere, what it's going to involve is taking pictures, taking fingerprints, and then they're going to call your parents to come and get you. So, don't make the situation any any worse. They'll go They'll be out shortly after that. >> Can I go in the car? >> No, you can't go in the car. Yeah, they can't It just can't happen. >> He's going to meet you out there. >> No, please. >> They're but Anyway, she's going to go there. >> anything to go in the car with you right now. >> So, they're going to be right here. They're not going anywhere. You're going to sit right here. We're not leaving right now. We're not going to leave until paperwork and things like that are done. So, stay calm. You can talk to your parents. We can open the window and let you talk to them. Nothing's going to happen to you. Do you understand that? Okay. >> I'm telling you this right now. You're going to take this as a lesson at 11 years old that if you do something stupid in the future, you're going to enjoy those cuffs. >> You know, Ava, this is going to be an opportunity for you to turn this into a learning experience. This is not something you're going to carry with you for the rest of your life, okay? It's not something you're going to go to prison for. It's not something you're going to spend time in >> Ava's actions had backed her parents into a corner, leaving her mother with few options and forcing her to make a heartfelt attempt to change the outcome. >> Honestly, though, she's going to freak out. But >> Has she ever been arrested before or anything like that? Okay. >> I I got asked. >> Um >> Okay. >> She always has like super anxiety and it's like she just shuts down and you're applying on me. It doesn't like personal. She gets like nervous, but I can't I can't believe this is happening to me. I'm a bad mom, but She's always like >> Oh, there is >> So, that's why this is like >> Yeah, this is just so random. >> Yes. >> I'm like I don't even know what this is. Like, this is not even I don't even know how I feel. I don't even know. I'm like numb. >> It's right It's right across the parking lot from the uh the uh Eevee's. >> It's 3747 That's it. >> Car that had that scratch on it. >> This is the best punishment for her right now. It's not fair that this is the best thing for her because she's thousands of miles away. >> It sucks. It sucks for us. I work my ass off to keep her with this kid doing stuff normal like we did as kids. And this is a she does. >> The officers proceeded with the paperwork, and as the process moved forward, the reality of the situation became much clearer. At that point, no amount of tears was going to change what had already been set in motion. >> So, I've got a couple things here, okay? So, this is basically just the consent to search for her phone. You're basically giving us consent to go through her phone, go through anything in her phone, whether it's text messages, social media, I don't know if she has social media or anything. >> Um >> Facebook Messenger, I don't know if you want to put that on there. >> Yeah. >> I think if you were Apple ID, like uh middle. But I'll tell you there was weird things going on with that phone. >> Yeah. >> I don't like it. Can't like it. >> So, basically on this one, you can read through it all and make sure everything's all kosher in here, okay? But here in this line, it's just I, you put your name, you're basically giving Deputy P's, I've identified myself as sworn law enforcement with the Sheriff's Office, um basically permission to go through like computer, cell phones, but we're just taking the cell phone for now. >> Yep. >> Um >> She has an iPad, too. >> If you want, we can take that as well, if you're okay with that, but >> though. She didn't have it. She had it in the Yeah. >> We'll just We'll just focus on the cell phone for now, unless unless my supervisor tells me, "Yeah, let's take that." >> care if you do. I really don't. This is consent to like look through the phone and everything. >> Yeah, this is to go through her phone. >> Consent for everything. Is this something I actually should have an attorney with us right now to go through everything? >> That's up to you. I can't tell you to call an attorney. I can't tell you not to call one. >> going to get released. >> I'm almost I would say 98% positive they're going to call you and say, "Hey, come and get her." She doesn't have a criminal record. She's never been arrested before. She's never been in trouble before. She's not going to have enough points Yeah, they're not She's not going to have enough points to be detained at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Now, if she'd committed, heaven forbid, a more harsher crime like or something crazy like that, then yeah, that would that would be a different different story. But for this, I'm almost 98% sure that they're just going to say, "Hey, we're going to fingerprint her. We're going to take her pictures, add her into the system, and then they'll call you guys and say, 'Hey, come and get her.'" >> Will this get expunged when she turns 18, or will it be a >> That so For for juveniles, whenever it comes to law enforcement, like we still have access to juvenile records in our system. What that does is it doesn't show up on like backgrounds for like jobs and stuff. Um >> She wants to work for the state one day. >> The state would probably still have access to that. Um like a like a state job or federal job or anything, they'll have access to that. Um if that's as far as getting it expunged, um I'd speak with an attorney about it. They'll have They know the ins and outs a lot better than I do as far as getting um records expunged. Um I'm not an attorney, so I can't really give you, you know, the ins and outs of what to expect, what'll happen, how long it'll take. I don't have that information. So, but um but yeah, the consent to search one, just print your name up there for me. >> This is You know what? Yeah. I feel like this is worse >> to that >> Gosh, how bad is this? >> I I literally just gave the phone back. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, but if you'll just write the phone number either above it or next to it, one of the two. >> Okay. What is their email? Okay. I am so sorry for this. I know. >> Is there anything I need? Um your signature down here. And the date today is the 26th and it is 11:10. All right, and let me I'm going to go ahead and sign this. All right, and this next form is the um the Miranda warning. When we read her her Miranda rights, um this is just basically saying that you guys were present. We have permission from you guys to interview her, okay? >> Before transporting Ava, an officer addressed a few final matters with her parents, determined to keep an already difficult situation from spiraling any further. >> And then you guys want to go to go up to the resource center right now. However, they're not going to even let you in the building. >> Okay. >> And it's they don't even want you guys sitting and waiting until they call. It could be hours until they call. So, I don't want you guys sitting up there for 3-4 hours waiting for cuz I don't know how many juveniles are already out there. I don't know if they're backed up. Um sometimes if they have if they have if they have calls for service, they may have to leave, so um they just don't want you up there is what I'm getting at. They don't even want you up there in the parking lot until they call. >> In the parking lot? Mike, they said that we're not allowed to go in the parking lot until they call. >> Yeah, they you can't even go into the building until like at all. So, that's that's I mean, if you want to wait, I don't know how long it's going to be, but just know that it could be a couple hours before you're going to be able to see her. So, whenever we get her to the parking lot and another reason why we say don't go up there is we don't have an actual sally port. So, whenever we get her out of the car, we don't need you up there talking to her as we're taking her into the resource center. So, it's kind of part of why we say don't go up there until they call and say we're ready to come in. I'm sorry. I can only imagine. I don't have kids. I'm not a mom. I don't know what you're feeling. I don't know what you're going through, what's going through If it makes you feel any better, I'll tell you a little story about my 10-year-old self when I called 911 from a restaurant whenever I was like 10. It was a big restaurant they called Bobo's Pizza. It was downtown, 10 years old, trying to impress my older sister. She's like, "Oh, yeah, here's the phone. You should dial 911." So, me being the stupid 10-year-old I was, 911. They're like, "Hey, what's your emergency?" I hung up and immediately started crying. I ran to my parents and I didn't say a word. Well, the fire department showed up, police department showed up, and ambulance showed up. They everybody showed up and my parents instantly knew they're like, she's over here. So, I got a very stern talking to you from the captain that was on shift that night and we ended up going home and I don't think I sat down for about 3 days after that. Whenever my dad took a the belt, the shoe, the hairbrush, whatever he could get a hold of me, he tanned my hide. So bad. Hell. I just can't. >> How old is Jasmine? >> But this isn't just dial 911 and hang up. Even that's even worse. I'm not saying it's bad, good, but like the extent of what she said. >> Yeah. >> She put a video on YouTube and followed the prank. Like That's what she did. And just now like I'm literally on the kitchen counter getting ready to shower like >> We called at 2:30 in the morning. >> In the morning. She's sitting in a room on her phone and I >> Yeah. Do you know what if she saw that video on like her phone? Was she using your phone or was she using a tablet? >> I I don't know. >> Cuz I know we have her phone but I was just I just kind of She didn't have my phone. I'm curious. I just wanted to see if the video was in like a search history or Yeah. I don't know. Like I said, if I could >> But she was deleting her texts. >> Yeah. >> Did she make the phone call? She said sorry. Did she know we came up to her to take her phone? >> Yeah. >> What about everything else? Yeah, I'm too naive. >> And at that age probably thinks I'm invincible, nothing can happen to me, this is cool, they're doing it online, so I'm going to do it, too. And >> So scary. Like where's the common sense to think stuff like that is okay? It's just mind-boggling. Like what made her think that was okay? >> I wish I knew. >> knew you guys went home and got your bats. She knew herself she knew she was wrong. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> In the end, Abel was charged with making a false report to law enforcement and misuse of the emergency system. Still on dumb teens getting jailed, we have these teenagers who damaged someone else's door all in the name of a TikTok kick the door challenge. >> Y'all Y'all kicked in a pizza place's door like they I mean they No, they just kicked it in. It's It's It's in. >> You want to call my mom? >> Ma'am, listen. >> No, you want to come to my house and this is not my freaking house. After everything I've been through. >> On July the 6th, 2025, officers were sent to a residence after receiving reports of teenagers participating in a TikTok kick the door challenge. The police arrived to knowing far more than the teenagers hoped they did. And within moments, they made the situation clear leaving little room for denial and none for escape. >> Hey, what's up, y'all? How y'all doing? Sheriff's office. What are y'all up to? What's that again? Leaving whose house? Whose? J'Myria? How old are you? How old are you? You guys are both 13? You guys You guys live here? >> No, we live right around the >> Okay. You go ahead and put your hands behind your back. >> Me? >> Yeah, put your Put your hands behind your back. >> Where the girl at? I don't know. What's up? We didn't do We didn't do nothing. I promise you. >> Well, I promise you did. Well, we're not you, but you did. >> Oh. All right, what did you What did you try to ask me? >> Hold on, let me get his handcuffs fixed and I'll let you go. Spin your There you go. >> But I'm going to do it, right? >> Yes. Uh you and another female I'm assuming that's the female that's in the house are on crystal clear camera walking up to somebody's house. You got a little thing over your head. She's got nothing over her head. You're on crystal clear camera just so you know I'm not BSing you. I mean the camera is crystal clear. You running up on their front porch. You turn around and you kick their door in. It is crystal clear camera. Those shorts are very distinctive. You are very distinctive. But the camera can't be no more clear. So, where's the female that was with you? She's in this house here? Okay. You were being kids trying to have fun? >> We were just being dumb. We weren't responsible or anything like that. We were just being dumb. >> Y'all Y'all kicked in a some people's door like they I mean they No, they kicked in. It's It's It's in. It's broke. Just so you know I ain't That's the doorknob? It's completely broken in. You know those people could have shot you? >> It wasn't long before the second teenager met the same fate as the first, yet her reckoning proved far harsher, for she not only had to face the consequences of her actions, but also the full weight of the homeowners' anger. >> I'mma come back to my house again. Let me tell you something. Don't ever play with me again. I'mma come play and you'll get the >> Just stay up there. want to play with me? >> You want to play with me? How? >> Mom, listen. >> You want to come to my house? And this is the [ __ ] house after everything I've been through? >> Mom. >> [ __ ] no. I'VE BEEN THROUGH HELL. MOM. >> THE TEENAGER WAS ULTIMATELY arrested on a felony charge of burglary after breaking a doorknob during the Tik Tok challenge. If the previous cases sounded reckless, this lady managed to raise the bar by trying to keep up with a Tik Tok trend that involved spray painting a road. >> I was spray painting the road. I mean, it's about free speech, I figured. >> That's actually vandalism. >> On April the 5th, 2023, an officer observed a vehicle idling under suspicious circumstances. As the officer began speaking with the driver, it became clear that the vehicle was the least unusual part of the situation. And what awaited him was a case involving a far more serious offense. >> What's going on? >> Hey, how's it going? >> What's it about? What brings you out here? >> Um I was spray painting the road. >> Where? >> Uh just up there in black. >> Why? >> Uh it's about the bill 686 that's about to pass through the Senate. >> Okay, you think that's a bright idea? >> I mean, it's about free speech, I figured. >> That's actually vandalism. >> Yeah, I guess so. >> You got your ID on you? >> Yes, sir. How's your night going so far? >> Well, busy, amazingly. >> Yeah, I guess it is a Tuesday. It's kind of surprising. >> Oh, the weather's going nice, and it's just people are getting stupid. You still live on Sheridan? >> No, sir. I moved to Mulberry Street. Can I at least finish? >> Are you serious? Come on. Who else is with you? >> Just me. I was on my way home from work. >> So, what's your current address? >> 511 East Mulberry Street. >> What's your phone number? Where do you work? >> Uh I work for a contracting company. They send me I go all over the US inspecting automotive parts. I'm applying to make sure the car on the supervisor side. I supervise the team. >> So, where are you coming from then? >> Uh I just came back from Shelbyville copy. >> Was that a Nissan factory? >> Um no, they have me at YSK. They make chain cases and those parts. >> So, you got to stay down there for a while or >> Yes, sir. I'm going to be down there. I've only been down there for the past month or two. I'm mostly part. They kind of just send me wherever on a daily basis. >> Woo. Okay. >> Sometimes they have to send me down to Georgia and I have to be there the next day and I have to leave the next >> How long do these usually last? >> Um 3 months is the highest they can send you at a time, but I've only been away for 3 weeks. Like out of state. >> Not too bad then. >> It's actually pretty nice. You get to travel a lot. >> Yeah. Hold on. Sit tight. Yeah, and you got photograph of that and hands and all in it. Okay, Megan. Step on out here. >> Oh, sorry. >> You still got more spray cans in there? >> Uh I just have two. >> Two of them. Yeah. Okay. Go and put your hands behind your back. >> Oh, no. >> Hands Hands together. >> Am I going to the police station? >> Mhm. What's uh Which bill did you say? >> 686 >> What is that? >> Um so it's over the whole TikTok thing. Um they're going to limit the >> Try to ban TikTok and all that. >> Well, it's not just that. It's an >> But there's a lot more. Yeah. >> Anything that's determined as foreign information by the um current administration, [music] currently being the Biden administration, you can face up to 20 years in prison for. >> Oh. >> So if that's about to pass their Senate, so if you even say that Ukraine, like we shouldn't go to war with Ukraine, you can go to prison for it. >> Oh. >> 1333 >> That is a lot of subtitles or subcategories to that bill or whatever. I didn't know exactly what it was or anything. Um keys. >> At first, the girl saw it as nothing more than a joke. However, once the handcuffs clicked shut around her wrists, it began to become clear that vandalism was not something authorities were willing to laugh about. >> Only way the windows up. >> Oh, yeah, cuz I started it. >> Okay. Do you need medication? >> I'm okay. I'm just feeling a little bit dizzy. >> That's okay. What's this for? >> I don't think I need any medication. >> You need some? >> I took some earlier. >> Huh? >> I took some earlier today. I'm not sure if I should take another one. >> I'll tell you what, I'll put it in your purse for now. Sir. Trying to find the second key. She said there's two keys in there, didn't she? >> Yeah. >> I got the one. >> Well, I'm taking I got her phone number and I'm taking her >> I was trying to find the lid to that, put it on so it doesn't blow up in the >> You can carry this in her backpack. >> Yeah. You got >> Yeah. >> When I was pulling up, she was running and jumped in the car. Lights off? No. There you go. Thanks. >> 06 Can you get lights off, right? >> Oh, yeah. I don't know what this is. What's in here? >> Tagging. This is a tag. >> Yeah. It's her little calling card. >> Probably. Any more? >> What's that say? The way that um everything collapsed to me, I don't really know if there's anything I can do about it. I can still survive without. >> You're all right? >> Yeah, the way that I was feeling earlier was >> Okay. So, the way that the culture kind of banded together and still pushed through? >> And the um art that kind of came from there and the culture and everything that I was really coming at. So, um everything that society is at. >> So. >> Are you going to be calling anyone tonight? >> What's that? >> Am I going to be allowed to over the limit? >> So, do you have anyone you can call that you can that can post a bond for you? >> How much is the bond? >> I have no idea. But, I can find out. >> No. >> But, if you if if there's somebody you think you might be able to call that can post it, you start thinking about that, okay? >> gosh, I'm not sure if he's still awake for me. >> Okay. Tell you what, once we get back to station, I'll let you make a phone call. Do you Is his number in your phone or do you have it memorized? Okay, cool. I'll let you use the phone. See if you can't wake him up, and I'll also try to get you the uh what that the what the amount would be so that we can let them know. Okay. Like I said, this is not the end of the world. This isn't a life ending charge, okay? So we'll just be Try I I know it seems scary right now, okay guys? But you'll get through it, all right? What's that? >> What's going to happen? >> So what's going to happen what's going to happen is once you catch your breath, all right? We're going to take a ride to the station get your fingerprints, get your photograph. >> Before being transported to the station, the officers made a few things known to the girl and she would never have imagined in her wildest dreams that she would be going through all this hassle over a Tik Tok challenge. >> So what about my car? >> Your car right now it's legally parked. We're not going to take it, all right? So it'll still be here. Uh now and say worst case scenario we can't get a hold of your dad then you'll see we'll see. Wednesday you'll probably see a judge in the morning. Uh uh uh most likely release you. Is this your first time being arrested? All right, then yeah. Then 9 9.9 out of 10 he's going to cut cut you loose tomorrow and you can get your car, okay? >> Okay, can I text my boyfriend to tell him I'm not going to make it tonight? >> Sure. >> I'm so sorry. >> You're okay. I- if if you I'll say you're welcome to do it like that or I'll I'll let you use your phone when I'll take the handcuffs off once we get to the station. >> It's really hard. >> All right. So do you live here in town? >> Yes, sir. I live on Smoke Tree. >> What's your full name? >> Um do you have your interior light? >> It had It had an interior light, but somebody kicked it out. >> Oh, that's right. >> Yeah, somebody wasn't having a good day. >> I don't have to worry about that. >> Back here, do you want? >> No, ma'am. No. Long as you don't do it, I guess. >> You think I would do it myself? I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. >> 33. I don't have the 7425 and route to 11487 break from mileage. 50102 50102 >> While en route to the station, she chose to concern herself about things that, in the grand scheme of events, were largely irrelevant. In the end, she was charged with vandalism. Up next, a 17-year-old who decided to steal a vehicle for a TikTok stunt, only to flee when the cops caught up with them. >> GET ON THE [ __ ] GROUND! GET ON THE GROUND! >> I HAVE ONE IN CUSTODY. >> STOP RUNNING! STOP RUNNING! STOP! STOP RUNNING! >> On April the 10th, 2022, officers received a distress call regarding a teenage girl who had been seen leaning into a vehicle with a broken window. It turned out that the girl had other accomplices, and it wasn't long before officers found themselves chasing a group of teenagers in possession of a stolen vehicle. >> Silver Spring, patrol 2401 10-80. Silver Spring call 74838 out of the way. 10-4 Wrong way on Silver Spring, continuing going in the east. You can clear. I am not in pursuit, I'm just following, continuing west on the east. Turned up on heavy traffic. Occupied by five times. They're continuing in the wrong lanes of traffic. There's heavy traffic coming. I'm only following, not in pursuit. Westbound and East. They got a flat tire. Back left side and driver side front is flat. They are continuing west in the east. Not a pursuit. It's a T O. Illinois plates. They have now corrected back into the lanes where they previously traveled. >> The officer eventually lost sight of the teenagers, but it wasn't long before a tip regarding their whereabouts came in, allowing him to pick up the trail once again. And it didn't take long before their ride became more of a hazard than a means of escape. >> So we're back in pursuit. Eastbound on El Camino and in pursuit again. No traffic out here. This is easy. Nothing to find. Already past the eight. 2500 block Eastbound on El Camino. They're on Brinks right now flying. Coming up to a red light at Bender and Port. Nearly missed a vehicle. Spun out of control. >> Soon after the car chase turned into a marathon race, but fleeing from the cops has never been a smart move. And they're about to find out why. >> In pursuit.
