But what happens when those very body cams capture the kind of footage that doesn't just expose misconduct, but destroys careers? >> Whoa. >> Oh my god. >> Watch out. >> Can you breathe? >> Here are several instances when police officers careers were destroyed by their very own body cam footage. Starting with the moment a former police chief who decided to get behind the wheel while heavily intoxicated crashed into another road user and proceeded to put his career up in flames. >> Wally Kle, >> I was the chief of police and bridge. >> Come on, buddy. >> Come on. He went I want the chief of police in Bridgew. Why you do this to me? >> No, you're not. Come on. You want to keep >> You know what? We're out. >> Okay, we're out. >> On December the 27th, 2024, officers responded to a car crash scene with the urgency to control the situation and possibly save lives. What they didn't expect was for the driver responsible for the wreck to be one of their own. The former police chief, who was heavily intoxicated and completely unfit to be behind the wheel, had set off a shameful chain of events that would soon unfold under the unblinking eye of a body cam and marked the beginning of the end of a very long night for his career. >> I don't know what the need. >> Okay, that's no problem. >> Let me go. >> I saw the fire department pull out. >> Yeah, they probably can't open. >> Let me go. >> They're coming. >> I know. I know. >> What's his name? I was going to His name's Larry. His and >> he works for the bridge. I don't know, >> but his last name's on the back of the license plates. >> He's got a hand. The red car, that's mine. >> Yeah, >> I'm sitting in traffic and he comes down this way, hits this thing, and then the whole car just flips over like this. >> Larry, Larry, relax. Just relax, will you? >> This lane idiot hit that. He was going too fast. >> You're going to have to come down this way. >> Let me go, >> Larry. Just relax. >> Let me go, >> Larry. Just relax. >> Let me go. >> So, I put the barrel. So, I'm rerouting traffic that way. >> Yeah. >> So, so I don't have to stand. >> What the way in the air? >> That's not going to happen. Yo, let's go. Let me go. >> He's got him on his lap. >> I can't tell tell if it's a I can't see if he's got an injury or what. >> What the [ __ ] >> Let me He's got blood on his face. >> I don't know if that was from Probably Probably the airbag. >> Yeah, maybe. >> Let's go. Come on. Come on. You dude. >> Come down. Calm down. Calm down. >> Go. >> Okay. All right. Calm down. >> At this point, the officer still didn't know exactly who they were dealing with, and his behavior wasn't helping one bit. If anything, he was roping himself, making the whole situation messier by the second. >> Calm down. >> Relax. >> You know what? I'm the >> Okay. >> You know what? I'm the cap and prank you. Oh, don't do that. >> Okay, stop. >> Yeah, come on. >> No. Come on. >> I don't know. Do you have a on you? >> Yeah, I do. But let me go. Come on. The >> Come on. All right. >> They're great. >> Don't give them Yeah. Don't give him a hard time. >> They're great. >> Thank you very much. >> I think it might be. >> No, you're not. >> You're retired, man. >> Larry, >> that's not Wall-E. It's >> It is Wall-E. >> Oh, it is. Okay. >> Hey, why why are you retired? >> That's an airbag. You were in a I didn't put that there. No, you didn't. >> No, I didn't. You were in a car accident. I've heard that name before, but I don't know what department. >> Guys, you know what? >> Okay. >> Can we even get this stretcher through here? >> You might want to drive around the block and come this way if you can. >> I'm just worried about that the 32s, you know. Just make sure you're getting everything. Wally Kle. I was the chief of police and virtue. >> Oh, my dad's already that makes it even better. Wally, >> don't come with me. >> Shut that car off. >> Where the did he come from? >> Who? >> Him. What the did he come from? >> He's here to help you. He's taking the hospital. >> No. No. He was that way. >> Where the put that in there? >> Uh, T. Let's go. >> Despite his drunken tantrums, the officer stayed calm and patient. Although he was going to be held accountable, they were giving him every chance to get himself together. But all he did was gradually put all his years of service up in flames with every moment being captured on body cam. >> Wally, come on, buddy. >> Come on. He went I want the chief of police in Bridgeview. Why you do this to me? >> No, you're not. Come on. >> All right. You got to hop out of the car. >> What? Wall-E, let's go. >> Wally, come on. >> Why? Why you do this to You're embarrassing yourself. >> What? >> You're embarrassing yourself. Come on. >> You know what? Don't do her. >> Wally, let's go. >> Leave me alone. >> If you want to keep >> You know what? Hey, >> get him the out of here. >> You want to keep any any part of your career left? Get out of the car. Nice. >> Now, if you want to have a job still tomorrow, get out of the car. Nice. >> You know what? >> You know what? >> Leave me alone. >> Let's go. >> You have to car. That's my >> I don't have one. >> He was finally taken to the hospital for a quick medical check and clearance. Once that was done, it was straight to the station. Time to answer for the chaos that he had unleashed. >> Mr. Walry, you ready? >> Come on. >> Let me know if you need help. >> Yeah. >> Okay, I got you. >> Okay. >> All right. So, you understand what this is, right, sir? This is going to be pretty much You know, you understand your vehicle was towed, right? >> What? >> Your vehicle was towed cuz you you were in a car accident. >> My vehicle was what? >> It was towed. >> Towed? >> Yeah. >> No, it's not towed. >> Well, yes, it was. I'm I'm telling you. towed. >> This is going to be >> Was it towed by you? >> Listen. Listen to what I'm trying to tell you. >> It wasn't towed. >> It was involved in an accident. >> You crashed into another car. You've been And you've been drinking. >> I got pulled by No, I pulled by you guys. >> Sir, I'm I'm explaining it to you. Okay. >> For DUI. >> Okay. >> What do you mean a DUI? >> I'm I'm explaining to you what this is. Listen Listen to what I'm saying. Okay. Stop getting Stop getting upset. Okay. >> What do you mean a DUI? That That's >> That's what the officer charged you with. The arresting officer charged me with a DUI. Okay. >> I'm not going I'm not going to I'm not drunk. I I came from work by I came by work by you guys. >> Okay. You want You want to get out from here or you want to stay in here? If you want to get outside here. Okay. >> Yeah. Okay. Then >> I came from you I came from work by you guys. I'm not drunk. >> You can argue that in court. >> In the end, the chief was charged with DUI and resisting arrest. Just like the former police chief, here's another case of a drunk officer who crashed into a tree. >> You in the car? >> Not worried about anybody else. >> Stay over here. >> Where you going, John? What are you doing? >> You're just making this worse for yourself. >> Okay. And I respect that. >> Yeah, he's better. On July the 22nd, 2024 in Palm Beach County, Florida, officers were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a police officer who wrecked his vehicle. For a man of his training who had spent years enforcing the law, unusually, he tried to evade it. I love >> I love you too, brother. >> So, we're going to stand you up and we're going to walk back over there. Okay. You understand? I just paid for four. >> You're swatching. >> Well, I'm sure they appreciate that. >> I did. >> I believe you. >> I already called Sergeant 11. >> All right. So, we're going to stand you up and we're going to walk back over there. Okay. >> All right. Ready? One, two, and three. >> There you go. >> I got your phone. All right. Thank you. >> All right. Let's hold back over there. Okay. Look through my picture. >> No way. I don't >> look through my pictures and see. I'll be >> all right. You feeling better now? >> No. >> Okay. I said I just want to make sure you're okay. All right. So, when somebody starts walking away from a crash scene and not answering makes me think already. >> He They were checking him out and then he stood up and walked away. So, >> we going to get you checked out, buddy. >> We'll try to get you get you some help, sir. >> [ __ ] you. You know who Ronnie Coleman is? >> I wish. Right. >> We're going to the back of the rig. >> Check out sir. >> Just give you guys a heads up. Whenever the record does come trees broke off, so >> it's going to fall. >> Yeah, it's probably going to come down when the records. >> Yeah. When I walked up under, I'm like, "Oh, wait a minute. I saw you walk underneath it. I wanted to give you a heads up." >> Yeah. No, >> it may come down, hit the wire. What's that? >> It may come down and hit that wire, too. >> Yeah, it's going to move. >> It's low voltage here, but that's just guide wires up top. I believe >> they're going to need a tree down, too. >> Yeah, it's just you in the car. >> Not worried about anybody else. >> I'm glad you weren't hurting by the crash. But >> yeah, thank God you weren't hurt, bro. >> You want to lean up against the car, sir? You want to lean up against the car? >> You want to lean up against the car? >> Yeah, sure. >> Make it a little better. >> Yeah, sure. >> No, just lean up there. You just lean up. Turn up. >> No, turn around. >> Turn around. Turn around. Turn around, >> John. Turn around. >> There you go. Just lean. Relax. Relax. >> Relax. >> There you go. Put your back. There you go. There you go. How does that make it easier? Being >> in cuffs. You know why you're in cuffs, Sean? Yeah, >> sir. >> Yeah, >> you tried to walk away from the crash. >> Yeah, >> we have to walk a ways away. Please. >> Knowing that he was one of their own, he expected some kind of special treatment. And truth be told, the officers were willing to cut him a little slack. But if he had any wisdom, he'd play it smart because one wrong move and his entire career would go up in smoke. >> If I take them off, are you going to walk away again? If you do, I'm going to put you back in cops. What would you like for me to do this? >> I just don't want you to walk away from the scene. >> No problem. >> Okay. If I take them off. >> Yes. >> Okay. You You already Listen, you promised me. >> I promise. >> I hope you're a man of your word. >> Yeah, I know. They don't feel good. >> Hold on. >> Yeah. Don't turn your wrist. >> There we go. >> There you go, sir. There you go. Now you can relax. Just relax. But I don't understand. >> Why don't you understand? >> You are my people. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Just relax. >> Just relax. Yeah. >> What's going on, boss? Are you on duty now? >> Me? >> Yes. Yes, sir. >> Okay, let's take our bad. >> Sure. >> Put it in your pocket. I'm not taking it, man. I just don't want you. >> That's all. >> May I go home? >> No, you can't go home. >> Can't go home yet. >> All right. So, what needs to be >> We have a DUI unit coming to check you out and once they clear you, then we'll have to figure out what we're doing with the car and whatnot. If there's a place you want to take to or tow or whatnot. So, I guess it's a safe car. Hit the pole pretty good. You look all right. It's a tree and that's that's going to go down when it's going to go down when they leave. >> Oh, >> it's going to fall. So, they said something about getting somebody maybe from the >> village well dwellings to come over and >> Yeah, >> cuz that's going to fall. It's probably going to hit the wire. >> Okay. >> On his way or >> Yes. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Fire's good right there on the >> There particular uh place you want the car towed to cuz it ain't driving. >> Yeah. >> Where? >> Yeah. We got a couple minutes. Just let me know when you're >> But the officers were in for a shock because instead of maintaining proper behavior, his actions took a wild turn, proving just how unpredictable and self-destructive he was about to be. >> Don't go in there. No, you can't go in there, buddy. >> Don't go in there, cuz you know what's in there. >> Yeah, you can't go in there. What? You >> can't go in there. Don't go in there. >> Listen, let let me let both investigate and then you go about your business. Okay. >> I got you. >> Just like you. >> I got you. I understand that. But you know that we still have to do our job. Okay. >> Stay over here. >> Where you going? Where you going? >> Really? >> We're not doing Put your hand behind your back. Put your hand >> Come on, John. Cut it out. John, cut it out, bro. John, stop it. Really? >> John, what are you doing? >> You're just making this worse for yourself. >> Really, John? Huh? >> John? Really? >> Come on, man. Really, John? >> Really? >> I am. >> What are you doing? >> I am. You do the same thing. >> Yeah. You close your clothes. >> Let him stay there. >> Let him stay there. >> On your side. Just stay on your side. So now I know that I can't trust you. Okay, >> John, really? >> Where you where you think you're going? >> Watching you run is like watching something moving in slow motion. >> Yeah, that's kind of comical. What are you doing, >> dude? >> What were you? The funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. Really? >> Listen to you. You're gasping for air. >> Me, too. I love you. I broke >> me. I've never seen anything like what is he doing? >> Yeah, I was like, "Wait, did this dude really really make a run for him when I walk over there?" >> God damn this car. >> All right. My question is, do you guys have charges on him >> other than leaving the Yeah, he's leaving the scene in an accident. >> Well, I mean, do you guys have like battery leo resisting anything like that? >> Walking up with me. So, we just have this, right? >> Just this running. >> Oh, no. No, no, no. He resist because he he touched stuff underneath. >> So he actually fell in your comfort. >> Yes. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. Okay. >> So >> John, why are you doing this? >> He's not injured, right? >> I kicked him out. He just put >> fire rescue on. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. He's not injured. >> All right. So sit him up. Let's Let's set him up. Let's set him up. >> Chad, what are you doing? Chad, why are you running off? >> Boston Marathon's not till August. What are you doing? All right. What are you doing? >> You think? >> All right. You done piling. >> All right. No more shenanigans, right? We're going to stand you up >> and we're just going to figure out what we got here. Okay. But no more running. No more shenanigans. >> Can you please stand me up? >> Can we There we go. All right. >> All right. Now, relax for a minute. Okay. No more running off. >> All right. Let's Let's go to the front of my car. Okay. >> Jonathan. >> What's your name? What do you want mead? >> Chad, you need Chad? >> Okay, you go by Chad. >> It's okay, Chad. >> You a sergeant? >> Huh? >> No, that's the sergeant over there. >> He was talking to you right here. >> For reasons best known to him, or perhaps because of the booze in his system, he seemed completely out of touch with reality, and the officers were giving him every chance to pull it together. But that grace period was about to end as they were gearing up to drop the hammer and hold him fully accountable. Let's just let him hang out by my car. Sit him on my phone. >> I'm going to look at the car for a little bit and then um we'll uh we'll have a little chat. >> You are funny though. You're a funny man. >> You are funny. >> You can't hurt you. >> No, no, no, no, no. You You can't be a man that we can trust. So, I can't do that. You just lied to my friend. You just lied to my colleague. >> You lied to my colleague. >> Yes, you did. You lied to my colleague. Yes, you did. She said, "If we take you out of the cuffs, you're not going to run again." You said, "No, not at all." >> What happened 10 minutes later? >> You positioned yourself. The next thing you know, you had a very slow run. >> You You can't You can't be trusted. You You're not a good poker player. Well, actually, actually, a really good poker player cuz you bluff the hell out of us. >> You play poker. I knew it. You're pretty good at it, aren't you? >> No, you fool us, >> by the way. >> But it was funny. You appear lieutenant. >> You're funny. You're funny. You made my day, though. I haven't seen that in uh 25 years. >> You're You're a lieutenant. >> No, no, I'm not a lieutenant. >> But here's my question. Where where were you going? >> My house? >> Yeah. Where is your house? >> He lives right here on the next block. >> Oh, I am Gregory Tony. >> Gregory Tony. Who's Gregory Tony? >> The sheriff of Barry County. You the sheriff for Bar County? >> No, I'm not. >> Okay, sir. >> I have his best friend. >> Oh, you're his best friend. >> Sorry. Okay. >> Do you see my badge? >> I saw that. I saw your badge. Yeah, I saw that. What does that mean? >> That means I'm his number one, sir. >> Okay. But what does that got to do with this call? >> It means >> What does your best friend has to do with this call? That's all well and good, but when you go out and do something that brings attention to law enforcement, we all have a job to do. Correct. >> That's a yes or no question. Yep. Okay. So, now that So, now that So, now that you brought attention now that you brought attention to us, Wait, wait, let me finish. >> Now that you brought attention to us, so let us do our job. And like my sergeant said, then he's going to figure out from here. Okay, that's all we ask. Let me do a couple quick test. We'll get him out of here. So, I'm going to shut my guy down so you see what you can get done. >> Does that work? >> I mean, he's not argumentative, right? >> No, no, no, no. >> All right, then we can take the cuffs off of him and >> All right. This is what we're going to do. You're going to hold up. >> I mean, you tell me. Is he argumentative or is he going to fight or >> take him out of the cuffs? >> But it'll be the second time that I go to take him off. >> Take him out of the cuffs. >> All right, then. Forget it. No, no, no, no, no. >> Now, I'm going to tell you this right now. Let him finish the tests. >> Okay? If you run off, you're going to jail. I don't care. You just listen to this guy so I can get you out of here. Okay? So, take the cuffs off. >> Hold on. Hold on. Sorry. >> You said you had to put him on twice. >> We put him on the first time cuz he walked away and then >> you're walking away. He's not walking away again. And then I took him off. He said, "I'm not going to run." Not 10 minutes later, he starts kicking off running. And me and Brown had to take him down and put him back in. >> All right. So, he's a flight. >> Sorry. >> One sec. Give me one sec. >> We could stand by while while you do what you have to do and we can just take him out the cups. >> Hold on. A couple tests and he can be on his way. You guys go. We're good. If you guys are comfortable taking off with him, >> I am. Yeah. >> Cuz if anyone's not, then we don't. Well, I'm the sergeant and I'm comfortable. So, we're taking the cuffs off. >> Well, I want to make sure that they're put them on twice. So, as long as he doesn't run off, I don't feel like chasing. >> No, you don't have to chase it, but I just made >> I can't stop moving. >> All right. He's going to run some tests. What's your name? Chad, you said. All right, Chad. Listen, he's going to run some tests. Let him finish up his test so I can get you out of here. But you can't screw around or do anything anymore. Let him do it so we can all get on our way. Fair enough. All right, brother. So, just listen to him. Let him do his thing. We'll get out of here. All right. I got you. All right. Just you got to do what I'm telling you to do. Okay. >> First things first, the officer gave him a chance to explain what caused the crash. Whatever story he came up with would shape what happened next. >> I know. Lean up on the car with me. Just lean back here. You got to follow. Just lean on the car, brother. There you go. >> All right. >> Well, on the car. There you go. All right. It It slammed it in. That's nice. >> All right. Chad, are you injured at all? as a result of any of this? What do you mean a little bit? >> A lot. Yes, a little bit. >> Okay. Do you need to go to the hospital? >> Probably. >> Probably. >> Okay. So, if we call >> If we call the medics to come here, >> do you want to go to the hospital? Is that it? >> Yes. >> What kind of pain are you in right now that requires you to go to the hospital? >> What? >> Awkward. Awkward. What? >> This is >> What do you mean awkward? Position. What are you talking about? >> Yeah. >> Give me an example. What What are your injuries right now? >> No. I I need to understand this. You might have firefighters come in here or not. Are you injured in any way? You already had the firefighters come out here and check you out. They've already left. They determined that you're fine. Now, you're saying you want them to come back. Why do you want them to come back? >> Don't want them to come back. >> Okay. You don't want them to come back. >> Go down that road and stop with that road. >> Okay. So you don't need >> I do not. >> Okay. >> I plead the fifth zero. >> Okay. All right. So let me explain something. Okay. >> Give my license back. >> Well, we'll get to that. We'll get to that in a second. >> We're right now. >> Okay. We're going to get to that in a second. >> Law enforcement. >> Okay. But I respect that. >> Yeah. You better. >> But here's >> we're going to get to that and I'm going to get my ID back. >> Okay. Let me finish what I'm doing here. Okay. So, I've completed Well, we've completed a crash investigation. Okay. Looks like what happened? You just made a a wide turn and hit the pole or you want to tell me what happened? Do you want to tell me your side of this or no? Did you explain the crash to any of these deputies with the sergeant here or you got to ask those questions? >> I have to ask these questions. I mean, do you want to tell me or no? It's up to you. >> Yes or no? >> No. Okay. So, here's what I need you to do. This is very important. Chad. You go by Chad, then you go by Chad. Is that your name? You going by Chad? Yes. No. Maybe. Okay. I'm required to warn you before you make any statement, you have the following constitutional rights. You have the right to remain silent, not answer any questions. Do you understand that? Yes or no? Do you understand that? Yes or no, Chad? >> Where's my badge? >> Huh? Where is my badge? Who is my badge? >> Any statement must be freely and voluntarily given. Do you understand that? Yes or no? Chad, do you understand that? Yes or no? >> Can you believe this? >> If you cannot afford a lawyer, you are entitled to the presence and representation of a court appointed lawyer before you make any statement during any questioning. Do you understand that? >> Yes or no? >> Are you getting upset to like where you're going to start fighting or what's the matter with you? What are you doing? >> Okay. Desperate to dodge the fallout, he threw everything he had on the table and went full pity party, hoping a little sympathy might save him from the consequences he clearly brought on himself. >> I'm at all the time and I I damn sure do my best for my law enforcement officers and you treat me like this. I care more about you guys than you even I do everything I can to support you guys. While this officer's career is definitely in jeopardy, this next cop's fate was sealed after slamming an elderly man to the ground and leaving him seriously injured. His career took a turn it would never recover from. >> I need you to sign with your finger. It's not a mission of guilt. You're just a signing saying you'll take care of the citation >> for a ticket. >> We are not arguing about this. Okay. >> I want to show you. >> We argue in court. There he encountered Lich Vu, an elderly driver trying to understand why he was being ticketed. Despite the officer's explanations, it became evident that Lich was struggling to comprehend the situation, leading to noticeable frustration on both sides. >> Um, the way that your vehicle was located, >> I'll have to write you a ticket for improper U-turn. Whenever you complete a U-turn, >> I didn't turn. >> When Hold on. Whenever you complete a U-turn, >> you're supposed to be as far to that corner as possible. Okay. Whenever you enter a little intersection thing like that, you were not allowed to go side by side next to a car. >> Lynch, clearly frustrated yet composed, attempted to explain his side, only to be interrupted repeatedly. Eventually, tensions escalated further, though nothing justified what happened next. >> Hey, you are the police. >> Yes. >> Do you know? >> Okay. >> How many cars? >> We are done, sir. No, we're done arguing about this. Okay. >> I don't think so. >> We are We are not one. We are not arguing about this. Your vehicle Lich was doing his best to explain his side, but the officer clearly frustrated continually cut him off. Instead of showing patience, the officer lashed out, taking his frustration out on the elderly man. Despite Lich's age and frailty, he didn't care about the force he used. Fully aware that the aggression could easily have cost Lich his life. >> Sit up. >> No, you sit up. Get on the ground. See, sir. >> The officer seemed to care so little about the elderly man he had just hurt. It was clear he hadn't thought twice about the potential consequences of his aggression. Instead of offering assistance or concern, he remained indifferent to Lich's state. even as the elderly man lay incapacitated. In the end, the arresting officer was placed on administrative leave after causing Lich Vvu to lose consciousness and suffer serious injuries, including brain bleed and a fractured neck. Up next is the tragic case of an officer who ended up striking a pedestrian while transporting a suspect to the station and turned a routine drive into a heartbreaking disaster. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Oh [ __ ] Oh my [ __ ] god. You didn't see them? >> Oh my [ __ ] god. Kennedy. >> The officer had struck a pedestrian. An accident that sent shock waves through the moment. As they rushed to her side, they clung to the hope that it wasn't as bad as it looked, while praying the damage wasn't irreversible. >> Watch out. Can you breathe? Can you breathe? Hey, watch out. She started breathing. >> You guys know where you're going? >> Uh, TMC. >> She was rushed to the hospital for emergency care, but in a heartbreaking turn of events, it was determined that she had passed away. The incident has since been placed under investigation by the Internal Affairs Division as the department works to uncover exactly what went wrong. From one unworthy cop to the next, he is the disturbing case of an officer who struck a defenseless dog that posed absolutely no threat to him. >> I'm here talking to the officer of the dog. My dog is completely blind and completely deaf. There is many other talk or you want to tell me how to do the job. >> I'm more than happy to talk to the child. >> On the 19th of May 2024, a police officer responded to a call about a stray dog named Teddy. A neighbor had found Teddy, a Shih Tzu mix, wandering in her backyard after he had escaped from his fenced yard. In the small town of Sturgeon, with just 900 residents, where the police also handled animal control duties, the neighbor called them for help. Despite several minutes of trying, the officer was unable to capture Teddy. Then he did something shocking. Neck's broken. There you go. Put your head in there. Put your head in there. Come on, baby. Come on, baby. There you go. There you go. I'm not going to let you bite me. She looking all afraid. There we go. Just get in there. >> Come on, baby. Something you up. I'm going get take help. Returning to his car, the officer appeared to retrieve a box before driving away as though nothing had happened. He later met Teddy's owner, who was heartbroken to learn that his pet was gone. >> I'm here talking to the officer. dog. There's a person that found my dog and called joint communication and I have spoke with her and she has stated that the dog she fed him gave him water and he was not afraid and she was just waiting which nobody ever contacted her after she called joint communication at which time I responded. >> I'll tell you why we didn't call her. >> Wasn't my dog or anyone else sir? I got dogs myself. >> How do How am I supposed to know the dog's condition? >> Can you wear a camera? >> I got a camera on this record, but I'm asking how am I supposed to know the dog's condition? Upon hearing that Teddy was completely blind and deaf, the officer showed no remorse and even defended his actions, claiming that they were justified. This response only added to the owner's devastation. >> I understand how to make a dog respond. >> Lethal is last resort. You can use a taser. You can use a lasso. There's many other taser. I had a lasso. >> I had a lasso. I was using a lasso. >> And you did you feel harmed when you were trying to catch him? >> Did I ever say I felt harmed? I'm not denying that. Yes. Everything squeals when they're in pain. >> Teddy posed no threat. A fact his owner emphasized, but the officer refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing. >> I can handle a dog if a dog was put down for the proper reason. >> Okay. It's the reason that you went about you're living in a world that you know to pull out a weapon. >> But you know all the conditions of the dog. That's what I don't have. >> He was not aggressive to a person and he was not and a harm to anybody. >> Okay. Why was your dog not put in the house in buddy? >> He was in a kennel. He escaped from I just went to Colombia. >> Okay. And where did I find the dog? >> How do I know? No, you cannot. How was I supposed to know the dog was blind and just confused? How was I supposed to know any of that? >> By attempting to get close to him. You've seen an object, which is always taught to use an object. That way if the dog comes at you, you said you've taken training. The first thing they teach you is to when a dog comes to put an put an object in front of them and they will bite on any object you put in front of them. That's the training that they put out. So you take an object and you touch him and you see how he responds, >> right? Y'all good? >> No, we're not good. >> I'm still sorry it happened to you, brother. >> All right. Have a good Have a better night. >> Have a better night. >> The officer continued to make excuses, even suggesting the dog might have rabies. He claimed it was acting strangely and showing signs of possible injuries, which he described as rabid behavior. However, it was clear the dog was already incapacitated and posed no threat. Unfortunately, the officer faced no disciplinary action and was defended by city officials who stated he acted within his authority. Teddy's owner has since filed a lawsuit seeking justice.
