It's kind of weird to us that you guys are out here wearing next to no clothes and it's 30°. >> And we see you and you look a lot like the girl I'm looking for. >> Thank you. I don't know if that's a compliment or >> She said he's a pimp. They're clearly out here working. >> DROP HER DOWN! >> YES, BLUE SQUAD. >> WE DIDN'T KNOW SHE WAS A MINOR. >> ON January 3rd, 2025, officers were on a roadway searching for a runaway 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing from an out-of-state group home. Her disappearance drew attention after a viral video showed her and two other women appearing to solicit passing vehicles along the road. The footage had circulated locally on social media and an outlet known as ABQ Raw. And officers had responded to the same stretch of road on a call the previous day. Spotting two women who matched descriptions from the video, officers stopped to question them. I'm Jack and this is Unpopular. >> Hi, police department. Uh my name is Officer Sailor with Albuquerque Police Department. I saw you guys out here yesterday. Where was the third girl you were with? >> We just out here standing here. >> Okay. Can I get you guys' names? >> Um our names? >> Yeah. >> I'll go first. Chocolate. >> Taja Johnson. >> Taja Johnson. >> So for one, we just want to make sure you guys are okay. It's kind of weird to us that you guys are out here wearing next to no clothes and it's 30°. >> I've been coming out here since April. >> Are you from California? >> That's where we're from. >> What about the third female? >> I don't know. >> You guys haven't seen her? >> We just be sitting together. >> Oh, okay. Got you. >> She did something? >> How did you guys get down here from California? >> The train or I drove. I'm like I've been coming here. >> I've been start coming down here in blah blah blah blah blah. April. >> March? >> How long have you guys been here? And you? >> The same amount of time. I took the train. We know each other from Los Angeles and we just decided to come down here. >> Right now, I want to talk to you guys separately. You guys aren't in any trouble. I just want to talk to you guys separately so I so I can figure something out. Can you speak with me right here? >> Yeah. >> The officer asked the about a third female he'd seen with them the day before. Both gave him names and stated they had been in the area since April having arrived by train from California. The officer noted it was roughly 30° out and both women were dressed in minimal clothing. Officers separated the two women to question them individually. >> Was that >> I said what happened. >> I don't believe this is you're you're telling us who what your name is. >> I'm originally from Arizona, but I live in Los Angeles. >> With someone? >> No, on my own. >> On your own? >> I don't really talk to my mom but my grandpa that I grew up with they live in Arizona. >> Okay. >> How do you How do you want me to prove to you my name? >> Well, for one an ID would be a good start, but you're saying you don't have one. >> But you can look me up like in the system like >> Have you ever had a New Mexico license? >> So, I'm not from here. We're just out here working. >> Okay. Have you ever had What's the most recent license you had a state from? >> It was Arizona. >> The most recent ID you've had is a Arizona ID? >> Yes. >> So, you guys just came down here to work or Where are you guys staying? >> We're staying at the Hilton Hotel somewhere, I think. >> Do you know the name of it? >> I just don't know the name. >> So, the reason I'm stopping you guys is because like yesterday I worked I got a call for service from a lady in California like you're saying you're She was saying her daughter went missing sent messages to her brother's friend saying that you're in that she was in New Mexico. So, we came down here looking for you guys or for them and we see you and you look a lot like the girl I'm looking for. >> Thank you. I don't know if that's a compliment or >> It's not so much a compliment as so much as I want to make sure that if you're the 14-year-old girl I'm looking for that at least know you're here and alive and I can let your mom know in in LA. >> No, I'm sorry, but I hope that mom does find her daughter. >> So, I'm good enough? >> Give me one sec. I want my supervisor here. He's going to talk to you guys. I need to verify you guys information one more time on my screen and then we'll go from there. So, do me a favor and just hang on here, all right? I tried giving her a chance to like own up to it, give me your name and stuff and she would She denies denies denies and she said she's from California which is where she's 20 from. >> Right. >> She said her mom was in California which is correct. She like refuses that she's the girl we're looking for. I even called her out on it. Her mom's name is Isa. She's like, "No, my mom's name is Maria." Does she have the earring gun? >> She doesn't. >> No. >> Mhm. >> She's saying that's her. I just ran her down in CIC and no 28s under that name. She's not wearing earrings, but she is wearing the same >> jacket and hers is the same. >> Cuz the jacket's the same as the one mom found. But it's also the same as the one that she's wearing. So they could also be sharing jackets. I 100% think that's her. >> Yeah. She's 14, right? >> Hey, it's Sailor. I think we found her. However, she's claiming that she's This isn't her. I mean, she gave us a completely different name. She's swearing by it. However, she's giving me some similar information. She's saying she's from California. She's Her mom lives in California. I even tried like calling her out on it, separated her from everybody. She's like, "No, I don't know who those people are." But my sergeant's here now and we're looking at the photos that mom gave us and it it looks like her. She said she got here about a week ago with her friend who is also here, which again matches up with what mom said cuz mom said that she disappeared with a friend from this from their group home in California. So I ran her through in CIC. She dropped it on the radio. No 29s, no 28s. Now, NCIC did say they found an Arizona ID with the information she gave me. I haven't looked it up myself though. We only have two of them here. We don't know We asked them where the third one is and they said they don't know. Okay, so he was saying just to run their 49 the 49 they gave us, see if it comes back with I ran it through NCIC, told them it's a it's an Arizona phone and they said to look it up ourselves to see if the photo matches her. And I think that's the friend mom said that she was the one that ran away with. All right, this is Adam D22. Found a picture of her here in Albuquerque, so we went looking for her. Mom sent me pictures of her and then ABQ Raw did that little I don't know if you saw that little amateur news story they did about the three girls walking on Central. So we were looking at it and one of the girls looks like our 28 that we're looking for. So this morning we went out looking for them and we just found them. And the information that I had you guys run just now is the information she's giving us. But yeah, that's we we're we're like 95% sure this is her. We already have the High-Risk Victims Unit detectives on their way. Do you want NCIC to do the 10-minute or wait till HVRU gets here? >> Let's go ahead and wait. >> We're going to Let's hold up for now. We just want to get detectives here and get more info because it's one of those things where it's like it could be here, but it cannot be here, but it's probably here, but it might not be here. So, we're still trying to trying to figure it out. >> It's she's 1428. >> They might not be in the system. >> That's part of the problem. >> Is Bolton on his way? >> He said he's going to talk to Neil. >> Okay. >> He said he's the acting and then he was going to call me back. Excuse me, so you guys are both from California? >> Yeah. >> Okay. What do you know about her? Do you know her family? >> She's from California. I don't know. >> You don't know her mom? Her dad? >> No. >> Were you guys staying with in the hotel? >> Nobody but her. Us. It's me and her. We came out here by ourselves. >> And the girl you guys were with yesterday? >> She came after us. >> But you guys were walking along Central all day yesterday with each other. >> I mean, we all stayed out here. We're not going to let nobody stay out here by our self. We I talked to anybody, that'd be us. >> Okay. I can appreciate that. >> I was saying that's how I knew other girls I was out here cuz we talking. So, they all talk about it. If you ain't never been here or something before, I would definitely talk to somebody. I know a lot of girls out here, too. >> All right. And how old are you? >> I'm 21. >> How old is she? >> 19. >> And I'm looking at I'm looking at this picture again. This is her. The freckles on her face match the freckles that mom sent on her picture gave me. Yeah, cuz I mean, like I said, she's giving us different information. She gave us 49 for some female in Arizona saying that's her. We just looked her up via OLN. The driver's photo doesn't match. So, it's it's a bad OLN, but she's swearing up and down. I even tried like calling her out on it. >> Yeah. >> That's right. And she'll see us. We It's my partner and my supervisor here. So, there's three of us here and the lights are on. So, at least my uh Sergeant Neil also suggested I try to sneak a picture of her and send it to mom. >> She just lied to me about it. >> I was about her energy. She knows she got to go. >> So, Neil also said to try to hang on to these these two. I mean, at least obviously the BFA. I'm pretty sure >> They're the They're the ones at the hotel right here. >> She just said it? >> Yeah. >> Cuz I >> BFA told me that they stay at a hotel off of Gibson. >> Yeah. She's from the chicken place. >> And I talked to her. She said she's lying. They stay at a hotel with the sign up the street? The third female is up there getting ready right now. So, that's what she's also told me. And then I showed her the picture after we left. We also asked her, "Do you guys use drugs?" She said, "No, it's just marijuana." >> Questioned alone, the younger woman denied being the missing girl and gave officers a different name, claiming to have a prior Arizona ID and no local identification on her. She said the two were staying at a residence in the area. A records check under the name she provided returned no matches, and a license photo pulled under a similar identifier didn't match her face. The responding officer noted she appeared identical to one of the photos the mother had provided, though acknowledged the two women could simply be sharing clothing. Photos supplied by the girl's mother appeared to match one of the women, so officers called the mother, who confirmed the girl in question was her daughter. >> Hello, is this Miss Alyssa? >> Hi, this is Officer Sailor with the police department again. Quick update, we think we might be out with your daughter. This individual looks a lot like her. She's giving us different information, however, she she did give us some similarities. She said that she's from California. She said her mom's from California. She's here with a friend who's also from California, so there's a lot of things that match. She said, "No, that's I don't know I've never heard that name in my life." She's wearing different clothes than from what you sent me. However, I noticed in the picture that you sent me of her without makeup, it looks to me like the freckles on her face match. I mean, I straight up told her I think she's lying to us. I took a picture of her. I'm going to send it to you now, so that way you can see and confirm. >> Do you have her with you right now? >> She's She's out talking to my partner right now. We have some detectives that are on their way and see also like what information they can get and what resources they can offer. >> So, um her social worker said she would come and get her. >> I want you to know a little bit more what's going on. So, right now, based on the information you guys have given us, the way we see you guys dressed right now, we have specialized detectives that are on their way. They want to come talk to you guys, see what resources they can offer, and see what we can do about having to have you guys out of here. >> We don't need to be out here. We're out here because we want to. Like, we're fine. We don't need that. >> The second concern, like I was saying, I think you're being dishonest about your name. I just talked to your mom. I sent her the picture and she in a heartbeat said that's you." >> Well, that's sad because she don't know what her own daughter looks like. Saying how somebody else looks like that. Now, that's sad. If I had a mom, I would be with my mom. >> So, how did you guys get down here? >> The Amtrak. >> Yeah, Amtrak. And where were you staying at in California? >> Um Los Angeles. Honestly, everywhere. I'll tell you everywhere cuz I move around. >> And where does your mom live? >> My mom lives in California. >> Okay. And you just said that if you had your mom, you'd be with her right now. >> But your mom's in California. >> But like what I mean is that you don't really Like if my mom was actually like there with me here, I would be with her. >> What you just said. What do you mean by that? >> Like if she wasn't bipolar, if she didn't have all the drinking problems she had, all the calling problems with her dad, I would be with her. Things would be different. But the thing is she's not, so I'm not going to give myself to her and be with her and put myself in a worse situation. When I'm okay, I'm doing this stuff. >> And does your mom know you're here in Albuquerque? >> I don't know. I don't talk to my family. That's why. Like my phone had gone stolen in LA and it was a whole situation my phone had happened. And my family knows where I'm at, but I would never I wouldn't call them and they wouldn't call me. >> Do you have siblings? >> Do I Yeah, they're younger. I'm the oldest. >> Brothers or sisters? >> They're brothers. I have one little sister and two little brothers. They're 7, 8, and 16. >> Do we know where the social worker is or out of or how long it might take? >> No, I think the mom sent me their number. Let me just try calling her. >> We'll work on that. We'll get a bunny suit. We'll get a bunny suit or take her to the ID. >> So, the social worker's out of San Bernardino. She's She's She has to make arrangements and make an official request through her work for her to be flown out here. >> She just told us that if we take her away from here, she'll talk. So, I said, "Absolutely, I'm not comfortable with what you're clothed in. I'm bringing you a bunny suit. The second the bunny suit gets to you, we'll pick you up here." >> Cool, because this pickup truck was in the lot when we got here and now he's pulled up and he's parked behind us. >> And then she has to sit in the car. So, as soon as I get the the bunny suit, we we maybe we won't even do I think she's going to tell the truth now. So, we won't go to ID. We'll just take her at her self worth it. >> But I remember that JDC will house her, but I'm not certain of that. So, I'm working on that aspect too cuz I don't know what we're going to do. So, that's what that was. We're trying to get help. >> I know there's something to it cuz like there's a couple of juvenile shelters that will take them if they're not like flight risks. She clearly is. She's from California. >> She's from California. I mean, she's staying here with us. She could have bolted at any second, especially her. But, and I was just kind of like trying to get more information out of her. She said she's from She repeated that she's from California. She started to tell me that she would be with her mom if she had a mom, but her current mom is on has a boyfriend she doesn't like, stuff like that, which matches the accusations that mom said that she's made before. >> Let me Let me call Sergeant up because they wanted us to hold both of them. >> That's Kelly. Kelly Whitehouse. We'll wait for the CS and I'm going to work on the JDC thing. >> All right. No, you're good. >> So, we just started finally getting her to talk. No, so the BFA was with her. She's right now on the back of the seat. So, we pulled over, we talked to them. They were totally compliant. I separated them. Asked for the 49. She gave me a different 49 than was on her 28 hit. >> So, you have the 14-year-old? >> Yeah, the 14-year-old is with my partner. I think she's going to drive her down to the Southeast Sub because she just now finally told us that she's willing to talk to us away from here. >> Okay. >> JDC might hold her given that she's a flight risk. She's a juvenile runaway from California. So, I >> Yeah. >> I mean, see YFD if she's willing to depending on how much she's willing to talk, right? >> See YFD though, they have no way of like >> Like restraining her. Yeah. And that's what we're concerned. I mean, that's why my sergeant is trying to get a hold of JDC first. >> So, I know that our deputy commander tomorrow from you know, >> Go down. >> Basically, the 14-year-old will be different, but for the other one, the goal is to just be like, "Hey, we're giving you one chance. All right, offering you resources if you're being trafficked, come with us. If not, this is going to turn into no tolerance and we'll just start arresting you." >> So, yeah. And initially, their statements weren't adding up. I asked her where they were staying or they were staying at. She said a hotel off of Gibson and something. She said, "Oh, it's a hotel right up here with some building with red roofs." She said cuz on the on the Instagram video, I don't know if you saw the APD raw footage. >> I asked him where that third girl is. I think my sergeant's waiting for someone to get her the bunny suit because she's street clothes. So, we're going to try to get her a bunny suit and then take her to the Southeast Sub where she said she didn't want to talk to him. >> Did you see any more that were just like out there yesterday? >> No, cuz we took the call yesterday. My partner was looking at the the video of the APD raw footage and he was looking at it and he zoomed in and he's like, "That looks like the same girl." cuz they're both redheads. In the video yesterday that they were walking out with, she has the same exact earrings as the pictures my mom sent me. So, we came out this morning and started looking for them and right away we saw them here at Rhode Island and Central, but we haven't seen anyone else. >> I thought they were going to be mine here in like 29. >> I can't stand JDC. >> They're like, "No, they don't have any." >> So, we're going to get a bunny suit then once we're going to take her to the Southeast Sub. Sergeant Neil said to yeah, like we just said hang out with her until they get here and offer her resources. >> So, what is I guess the plan and I'm assuming they're going to go with you guys to the sub with her and then they might go to the center. >> Okay. >> Has she like said anything about what she's done today? >> Which one? >> What? Like >> Working. >> So, she's admitting that? >> She's saying she's out here working. I mean, those are her words, working. Working. Working. Working. >> What do you have on the 14-year-old in the back of the car? >> Okay, she's out of her basic person? >> Yeah. >> Okay, and then let's get this girl's So, apparently the 14-year-old is kind of sorting to open up the top because she has some good authority. She doesn't want to be here, so they're going to take her back to the Southeast Sub with the other girls. >> Just that one. >> So, we only found these two. And when we asked about where's the other girl, BFA saying that we don't know the other girl, but 28 is saying that oh, she's back at the room getting ready. >> We're going to talk to the BFA to let her know, like give her the speech that like we're putting her down on the system so they can start the >> Do you want me to go back to the sub with them? >> We'll deal with the 4800. >> I might need Byron for that though. >> But juvenile has its own rules. So, they even though it's just a system, they seem to think they can make their own rules. And they said they're not going to take her. >> I know, but they have to. It's I think it's state law. >> And that's what my sergeant's on the phone trying to figure out. I'll let them know that we're ready. So, she's talking a little bit more. So, she's in the back of my car and she's telling me that she had to lie about Arizona cuz she was running away from the female. She doesn't want her to go snitch, whatever. And she was like, "Is there any way we can go to the hotel, which is the juvenile detention center in Charlotte, to get my stuff and get the other girl?" Why the other girl? She was like, "She's 18, but she needs a home." >> Okay. >> And this girl is like sticking with her and she swears it's just me and this girl. We're staying somewhere else. >> us she stays at the hotel in Charlotte or Gibsonville. >> This girl she's and she said that the other girl is 18, but she needs a home. >> Does she have a phone? Can she call somebody? >> She has a phone. I don't know if she can call anybody. >> Well, see if she can call her first and then have her like come out and meet us there as opposed to like giving her a ride in the car and letting her >> run away. >> Run away or we can do >> She said she's in the third floor. She just doesn't know what room. From what I can get from her is she does not like her mom. So, that's probably a safe a safe assumption is she's not going to So, I talked to mom yesterday. Mom was saying that from the age of 11, she started skipping school, hanging out with boys she met online. She started making accusations against her parents that, you know, they were drinking and fighting in front of her, they were beating her. So, they took her out of the home in California, they took her out of the home. And then those charges got squashed. They either went away or they they were unfounded. Yeah. So, but she kept trying to run away, she kept making accusations. So, she went to another foster home, went to another group home. Mom said she talked to her before Christmas and was fine and she was she was asking her like, "How's so-and-so doing?" like they're like siblings. And after that everything was fine and then she got a call from the group home saying that she left. She disappeared from the group home with a friend. Now, she's also saying she's from California. Like I said, she's offering up a lot less information. She's >> Even after the mother's confirmation, the 14-year-old continued to insist officers had the wrong person. At one point telling the officer her mother it doesn't know what her own daughter looks like. She spoke about not wanting to return to her mother citing her mother's struggles with bipolar disorder and abuse. While officers work to arrange a placement for her coordinating with a social worker and discussing whether the local juvenile detention center could house her, she was provided a change of clothes for transport. Once she was away from the older woman, the 14-year-old grew more willing to talk telling officers a second young woman was staying at a nearby hotel and that a man she identified as her was expected to arrive there later that morning. >> Did she even mention the pin? >> No. >> So, she just told him that their their pin gets here at 11:00. He's going to get off the Amtrak and go straight to the room. So, she wants to know if we can go to the Econolodge. She said she doesn't know how to contact the other girl, but that just call the front desk and try to see if we can get transferred to room 312 and then that's where the other girl is. She did say the other girl might be a little rowdy at first, but that she does need help. >> Okay, do you want to try to grab like a portable unit and then you go up and just kind of like secure it right outside and make sure nobody goes in that room. And then I'll run over there and try to get her name, the girl's name, and I'll try to call her and see if she wants to come out. You guys >> Yes, I'm sure my partner doesn't even want to go. >> We need to start keeping a The only reason why I I and it's going to be a burden on you guys, it sucks, but I'm also going to have my detectives out here every day, but we need to identify them and give them resources and let them deny multiple times because I already talked with the chief like we're going to start six teen. There comes a point like >> Yeah. >> You know, the the big argument with ones that want to keep the girls out here was like that they're not they're victims of their circumstances all this [ __ ] which I'm okay with. I said, but you know, let me put them in front of your house and see if that's okay with them being a thong in front of your kids every single day. Just cuz it's the Southeast doesn't make it okay over here. The same thing that we deal with the encampments. You can have an encampment on the the sidewalk, we're going to get rid of it, but we're going to allow these girls to be up and down with their thongs out. Like, come on. >> She wants us to go go up to the Econolodge, check on the friend. She said she doesn't know the friend's number, but if we call Econolodge, ask for and if you tell them to transfer us. She said that the other girl might be a little bit rowdy at first, but that she does need our help. >> She a BFA? >> No, I think it's the other girl from the video. Yeah, I think she's the SFA from the video yesterday. >> I think it's worth it they at least go up. >> Yeah. >> Wait, like make sure that a a guy if this pimp is supposedly supposed to get there at 11. If he can't go in the room, they could probably detain him. I think we have enough RS to just detain an ID. >> Especially if she's going to work with >> She said he's a pimp. They're clearly out here working, patronizing is your RS. Sorry, promoting is your RS. We >> This one? >> If we detained him, we're not going to take it. We're going to we're going to hold off on it and then we'll get a warrant for the phone. >> can probably go. >> Because just based off of her statement and if we can identify this guy, we'll have enough to get the warrant later on. >> All right. >> And then we can I would maybe kind of like set up on it if you can just secretly. >> Hey, sir. Did you want to roll with with me to do that or do you want I'm going to grab some Foothills units? >> Probably Foothills. >> Okay. >> We'll do Foothills and then >> And then as soon as I Yeah, as soon as I get done talking to her, I'll get more 49er on her, I'll relay it and then probably head up to her room. >> Did she say she worked with this girl or not? Like the same pimp? Did she say anything? >> She tends to have better I think so far I haven't tried, but she seems to have a good rapport with them. >> She finally opened up to Melina who's taking her to Southeast Sub. She said that she did not want to talk to me or her because I guess she's she's like a mama shark. She's like in charge. >> Thanks, guys. >> I added her to the CAD. Do you want me to just like send it to you an email or something? >> Still send me an email just so we can start doing the same thing consistently. So >> All right, just letting these These start running out of it like we stayed consistent >> 31 and 32. Yeah, they're up. >> Yeah, they're up. I'm Creek PD, step out. Step out now. Step out. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. STEP OUT NOW. >> YES, POLICE DEPARTMENT. >> BOW. >> STEP OUT. >> SIT RIGHT HERE. >> RIGHT HERE. >> LEFT AND RIGHT. >> Come on out. Come on out. >> I'll bring you back. >> Step out. >> Who else is in there? >> Police department, do you need to change? >> Who else is in here? >> Tashina, is that it? >> Yes, there's nobody else in there. Yeah, sit down. Sit down, sir. >> Wait, I'm Creek PD, IS ANYBODY IN THERE? IF SO, NOW. PJ IS IN ROOM 312. THIS IS AL CREEK PD, IS anybody inside? Make yourself known. >> Does anybody need an ambulance? Anybody hurt? Need an ambulance? >> I'm good. >> Okay. >> Al Creek. Is that you? >> Yes. >> Anyone else in there? >> Just me and this dude. >> Let's start walking him down to our car. >> He said he's pulled his car up. >> Yeah, let's walk him down. Shut up. 1 2 3. I don't think so. I don't think he has anything. >> Anything in here? >> I don't need I don't want to. >> You okay? All right. >> Yeah, you can >> Give it to her. >> You talking to me? >> Yes. >> Can I get my shoes? My slides? >> Yes, the rainbow ones. >> All right. >> The rainbow ones. >> Rainbow ones? >> You said what now? >> Yeah, we're going to walk. >> [snorts] >> Hi, I'm Amanda. What can I call you? >> Tashina, that's what they was calling me, so. >> Oh, what's your name? >> Tashina. >> Tashina, Tashina, let me know if you get cold or hot, okay? I'll let you know what's up as soon as I know, cuz I don't know other than we're just investigating whatever's going on here. >> I don't even know what's going on.
