On Halloween night 2024, police responded to a local park on a call regarding an assault. Here is what occurred. >> Who is it? >> Yo. YO. You're banned from the park, right? And um she is a girl. And she's not allowed in the park. >> Turn over. >> you against the >> Turn over on your stomach. >> Okay. She started telling me what was going on. She's not really homeless. She has no place to live. She's forever in drug and she wants her own the place. >> Okay, so why did you run away when we walked up? We listened to him play the guitar and then uh >> We drove by. >> Okay, okay, good. So, he asked for a hit of um her cigarette and she told him >> Where is she at? >> Right here. I'll go talk to >> Um >> Yeah. >> And then um she said no, back away from me and then uh he said uh I he just started going off on her. He was like, I'm sorry. >> And then he called him >> a N-word with a hard R and then I don't know, I left after that cuz I was scared. Yeah. >> All right, just give me a second, okay? >> You can't leave out the >> Oh, you know him? >> Hot for his back since 50. >> Yeah. Oh, okay. >> He got out of proportion. He tried to play his guitar like pretty forcefully. And uh guys came over and they were like I guess they were having a good time on Halloween. They were like, "Oh, play a song." But I just let them do their thing but I continued doing what I was doing. I was just spinning a cigarette. And facing that way where the benches are. And John just started getting up and started yelling epithets at me saying like all sorts of things. Like, "You're this. I don't deserve to be here. You're a [ __ ] You're a clown." And he started getting in my face. I turned around and he was like right there. I was just trying to ignore him and fully like the whole scene of the music and all that. >> Yeah. >> Um the music guy was singing and playing the guitar. He let him play the guitar. So it was like I just was just hoping it would just die down on its own but he just kept getting closer. I'm so rattled right now. I can't even believe. So I turned around and he was just like with it. Like just like in my face just like and had the beer in his hand and I was trying to get away from him and he was following me and he was still yelling all over >> Okay. It happened right here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Oh boy, that hurt a little bit. My booboo. >> All right, stay right here on the curb. Stay right here on the curb. You okay? >> I can't do it all by myself. >> I got you. I got you. Sit down. Take her. >> You feel good? >> Uh can you stay with her while I just want to talk to her? >> Yeah. >> I just want to hear what she had to say. >> Oh, it's all right. >> How you doing? You all right? >> I'm okay. I just I can't believe he attacked me like that, like verbally. >> What What did he say exactly? >> I was trying to like not listen to him, but when he started calling me a [ __ ] and that like I don't belong in this town. >> He said that word for word? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I I couldn't I couldn't help but hear that. >> Okay. What uh what sparked the conversation? >> I was I was sitting I was sitting and then I was standing cuz I wanted to smoke a cigarette. >> Yeah. >> Facing this way and he just came in and with his guitar and sat down forcefully and started like just strumming really forcefully and just like angrily on his guitar. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I just tried to ignore it. I didn't say anything. I didn't say anything. >> Yeah. >> I just kept doing what I was doing, but he was just going so forcefully so I was like, "I'm going to smoke a cigarette." And so I and so I started >> Okay. >> And then those guys came over. I guess they were just having a good time on Halloween. >> Okay. >> And uh um they just they're like, "Oh, I want to play a song." and like >> Okay. >> So it's like they just had started having like a party thing like for like I don't know, like 5 5 minutes maybe. >> Okay. >> I ignored that. >> Mhm. >> I just let them do their thing. I wasn't trying to get involved or stop it or whatever and you could tell like it was too much trouble. >> Okay. >> And he just got up and started yelling at me. >> Yeah. Okay. And tell me one more time exactly what did he say? >> I don't remember what he was saying until he started saying that I'm a [ __ ] that I don't belong in this town, this town is for white people, and he just kept calling me [ __ ] over and that's when even the kids were like, "Whoa, what's going on?" >> Okay. All right. Um >> Such hateful >> All right. Do you um you want to file complaints against him for the um derogatory comments he was making? >> Um he's already going to get in trouble, so >> Okay. You don't want to file any additional complaints or anything like that? >> We're going to get him a food container. He had a food container. >> And you guys are kind of in the place of Oh, yeah, they threw away outside. >> Yeah, it was still on the video, so we'll get him a food container. >> We uh We used We used force. I double-legged him on the ground, so >> Yeah. And you said you know him, right? Cuz you guys go to the BK. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And like I I like he keeps to himself. >> Yeah. >> So I'm I'm surprised that he had all those feelings towards me. >> Yeah. I'm sorry you went through that. We'll talk to him and see what's going on. Might have been the alcohol. I'm not Like you said, he is quiet. I don't really interact with him much. I do see him in town, so this is like the first real interaction I've ever had with him, so I'm So we'll see what we'll be doing. >> I can't believe this happened. This is like that's what's >> Yeah, I know. >> like people are going to This is going to be like people are going to be angry at me. >> No. >> Like I Like I had >> You shouldn't be getting yelled at. Like it's for nothing. It's good that the police were called. Did you call the police or they called? >> I called them. >> You Exactly. You know your safety is more important than anything. It doesn't matter if they come at you for calling the cops. He shouldn't be talking to you like that. He shouldn't even be in your face. You know, there's something called personal space. You stay here, I'll stay here. You know what I'm saying? So, don't feel any kind of way. All right? >> Can't believe he resisted. He like tried to run away. >> I know. >> Who's at the firehouse? I want to go home tonight. Do you have any red lipstick or any long shorts? Do you want to hear rock and roll out of your phone? John, you're under arrest for assault on a police officer and fleeing. We have all your property. You'll get it back when we're done. >> Is that a girl? phone still doesn't work? >> Yeah, it's still broken. >> Um So she doesn't want to do So I was telling Darren that um as far as the um bias, it has to be related to a crime. >> You can just You can just unplug the outlet. Yeah, he was running away from me. Yeah, we just we asked her like who was it? >> Yeah. >> And she goes it She looked kind of looked around and said it was him. And I don't think I saw the guitar. I thought it was the other dude at first, but I'm looking at the keys. He's too quick. >> And he's too short and not not as thin. >> But somebody you can throw in here. >> Yeah, he's the suspect. >> Like So it's like you told him to stop that, right? >> Oh yeah, we told him numerous times to stop.
