From a teacher who thought her job could shield her from a DUI. >> Oh my I can't do this. I'm a teacher. TEACHER OF THE COMMUNITY. >> BECKY, >> I CAN'T DO THIS. >> OH MY GOD. >> BECKY, TAKE A deep breath in. Becky, >> Seriously, can I just go home? >> Listen, Becky, this is optional. >> disaster. Guys, >> You showed signs >> To a teacher who tried to kiss a cop while in a drunken state. >> And he said no. And that's fine, but I don't know I had to try to think back to like what my government teacher told me in high school, which has been many years ago cuz I'm getting old. >> You act like I'm because you looked at the man and tried to discipline Tried to use a chip. >> Here are times when drunk teachers realize they've ruined their careers. The first case begins with Jennifer, an unapologetic intoxicated school teacher. She passed out in her vehicle while under the influence, putting her career at risk. >> Of course, I have a bachelor's degree and I'm a school teacher. >> Oh, that's awesome. You're a school teacher? >> Yes. I can't. It's It's so hard. You have to do this and I can't. >> On February the 15th, 2024, an officer was sent out after receiving reports of a female driver who had blacked out behind the wheel. When the officer got to the scene, he tried to make sure the driver was okay, but her countenance revealed that something deeper was going on. >> Ma'am. Hey, ma'am. Hi. Roll on your window. Hello. Are doing okay? What's going on tonight? Hello. I want to make sure you're okay. Hold on, what's going on? Let's turn your vehicle off. >> Where are you? >> Cuz you're like passed out behind the wheel, man. >> I was I was sleeping in the car. >> What's going on? What was that? >> Nothing. >> Nothing? Are you feeling okay? Yeah? >> I can't do this. Do you see the same thing too? >> You what? >> I can't do this. Do you see the >> I'm not doing anything to you. I'm just making sure you're okay. >> you right here right now? >> Come on. >> No, please. >> Please what? Do you need any medical attention? No? Okay, well I'm Officer Honey of the Rancho Police Department. The reason I'm out here is because somebody stopped out with you and you're passed out behind your vehicle. Do you understand that? Your eyes are really bloodshot. Have you had anything to drink tonight? No alcohol? Any other chronic Do you use it all? Okay, then what's going on? Do you have an ID on you? >> Somebody called the police. >> Yeah, somebody pulled over to check on you because you're not responsive. >> I don't believe you. >> Okay, well where's your ID? >> Okay, well where is the person called somebody? >> He's right behind you. Go and get your ID for me. Yeah. Oh, yeah. >> You don't need any medical attention? Right here. That's her ID. >> That is my father's ID. >> It is, okay. Where are you heading to, Jennifer? >> I'm going home. >> Okay. Do you notice that your vehicle is crashed? What did you hit? >> that way way before. >> Way before? When did that happen? >> 2 days ago. >> I already >> 2 days ago? >> Progressive, I have a receipt right now. >> Okay. So, where are we heading to now? >> Home. >> Home? Where do you live at? >> I live in Rivers Edge 2. >> Rivers Edge 2? >> Yes. >> Do you know where you are at right now? >> Yes, I do. >> Where are you at? >> In River Edge. >> Okay, but where in River Edge? I have to ask you these questions to make sure you're okay. >> Well, you and I both know where we are at. >> Okay. We are not by Rivers Edge. We're going the opposite way. >> I know because my brother doesn't live near Rivers Edge. >> Okay, but where were you coming from? >> I was there. >> What were you doing there at? I'm just testing your memory to see if you're okay. So, you remember you got dinner. You got some new food right there. So, Chili's? Okay. Do you have any alcohol there? Nothing at all? Okay. No narcotics or anything at all? Okay. Where did you crash your car at previously? >> That was 2 days ago. I called Progressive and that was in the morning at 8:30 in the morning. >> Sammy Ranch? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Go and step out of the vehicle for me. You don't want any uh medical attention? >> How are you going to do this? >> Do what? >> I'm getting a fine. >> I'm asking you if you want any medical attention. >> Yeah, I do. >> You do? Okay. What's going on with you? I you got >> I would have rather refuse to do any kind of >> That's fine. No, I'm asking you if you want medical attention. >> I have a bad knee. I go to physical therapy for that. I can't do any kind of thing that you want me to do. >> Okay. Jennifer had flat out refused medical attention. Following protocol, the officer needed to conduct a field sobriety test. An act that Jennifer was certain would give her away. She needed to find a way to avoid it, even if she needed to pretend that she now needed medical attention. So, here's my concern, okay? You're passed out behind >> I know I will. >> Your eyes are bloodshot, watery, and you're slurring your speech. Okay? And you're telling me that you haven't had any alcoholic drinks at all. >> No. >> Okay, you haven't had any kind of narcotics at all. Have you taken any prescription medications at all? Okay. If you've done none of that, then you should be okay to drive, right? Okay. So, what I want to do is run you through some tests to make sure of that. >> I told you I can't do that. I have a disability on my knee. >> What's your disability? >> I have a knee that I go to physical therapy for. I have I can't move it. >> Okay. That's fine. Well, guess what? We can do tests that doesn't require you to walk or balance. Okay? You okay with doing those? >> And where is your supervisor? >> She's on the way. You want her over here? >> Yes. >> Okay. Why do you want her supervisor? >> Because that's what I do. >> That's what you do? Okay. So, you're willing to do the test that doesn't require you to walk or balance at all? >> Mhm. I have a bad knee. >> Okay. I'm not asking you to walk or balance. I have a few other tests I can do with you, okay? >> knee. >> Ma'am, are you listening to me? >> Yes, I am. >> Okay. I have other tests I can do with you, okay? >> Is it the back camera? >> Yep. Both of ours are on. >> Okay. >> You're not going to cooperate with us? >> What What do you want me to cooperate with? >> I want to run you through some tests to make sure that you're okay to operate a motor vehicle. >> that somebody was behind me. >> They were. I just got here and they were. >> So, you're going to go off somebody who is like a complete stranger and said something about me. >> way. >> Okay. >> And when I got here, you still passed out behind the wheel. You're on the river's edge and you're not going towards River's Edge. So, that's my issue. Like I said, your eyes are bloodshot, watery, you're slurring your speech. So, I have issues, but the main issue is you can't drive, okay? >> No, I can't even understand it. >> Perfect. Let's let's just get through these tests, okay? >> After all was said and done, the [music] test was conducted and Jennifer was obliterated by failure. The officer went further to ask her an important basic question and her response would make you wonder what had pushed her to commit such a shameful act. >> Okay. So, I know that you can't walk or balance, so I'm just going to do a couple other tests with you, okay? What's your highest level of education? Did you graduate high school? >> Of course I have a bachelor's degree. I'm a school teacher. >> Oh, that's awesome. You're a school teacher? >> Yes. >> Which school? >> I work in River Willow. >> You work in River Willow? >> Don't get me fired. >> Why would I get you fired? >> Because that's what you people do. >> No. I'm not trying to do that. >> Jennifer [music] was arrested and taken into the patrol car and the next request she made will leave you surprised. >> And you had nothing to drink at all tonight? No. We're going to ground turn around for a chest pat. You're going to get cuffed. Yeah, I'll let you get out of here shortly. How old is he? 18? You don't have anything on you, ma'am? >> No, if I did I'd have already done it. >> You would have shot Okay. >> I told you I don't have my license on me. >> Okay. Well, after you say that you're going to shut up, I'm going to make sure that you have your license on you, right? >> Yeah, I can do that. >> Go ahead. Sit down. This is my sergeant, by the way. I know you were asking for her earlier, so yeah. >> to see >> Go and take a seat. We'll talk to you. She kept requesting you. >> Oh. >> Go and take a seat. >> of help to you? >> Go ahead. You have our undivided attention. I know you've been wanting to talk to us, so go ahead. >> Uh if you could walk over there, that'd be great. >> Okay. >> Officer, when are you going to stop laughing? When am I going to the hospital? >> Uh we're going to go to the police department first. >> No, I know I need to go to the hospital. >> For what? You told me that you didn't want an ambulance earlier. >> have a huge dis- disability. >> What's your disability? >> I have bad anxiety, and I need to go now. >> Okay. Well, you said that you didn't want an ambulance earlier. >> then call the ambulance, because I'm not doing this, and you know, and I know, and your lapel camera's on. So, I want to go to the hospital. >> Okay. Go ahead and put your seatbelt on. >> Is your complaint real? >> Yes, it's it's real. No, like >> I'm not saying that anxiety is not real. What we have to do is we have to go to >> No, I have like a disability. I have You can call my counselor. >> Jennifer. >> Hey Jennifer, so here's what has to happen, okay? >> not going to go anywhere without going to the >> a little bit of your anxiety. >> Hey, listen. >> I need to go to the hospital. I need to go to the hospital. Just stop. I need to >> Okay, well, let me get your seatbelt on then. Come on. >> Let's go. >> I can't I'm trying to put your seatbelt on, so there. >> You're going to have a hot mess in like 5 minutes if you don't take me to the hospital, because I will freak out. >> I appreciate you not threatening me, okay? Thank you. >> I am not threatening you. That's what >> Huh. >> Maybe. >> Maybe. Let me grab everything. I told you that I'll take you to the hospital once you get through this, first possible. >> Um I have a disability, and my arm is hurting me. Can I get out of this? >> Yep. >> My right arm is hurt. I just had surgery on it. >> Go ahead and hop on out. >> Hop. >> Yeah. >> You going to laugh now? Now's the time to laugh or you going to laugh now? Cuz you were all laughing before. >> I know what >> Was your little pal Cameron with you when you were laughing? >> Yes, ma'am. It was. >> Yeah, good. I'm glad. Laugh now. Because you know what? My lawyer is going to hear about this. Laugh now. And I want to go to the hospital. >> While at the station, the officers attempted to carry out a breathalyzer test on Jennifer, but she was uncooperative, oblivious to the fact that she was just delaying the unavoidable. After her vitals were checked, Becky had sharp and defiant things to say, but even that wouldn't change the status of her case. >> Are you happy with yourself? >> Am I happy with myself? >> Mhm. >> In regard to what? >> Can you say it's going good or what? >> It's been going good, actually. I appreciate that. Yep. >> Sure you're happy. >> I mean, you can chase somebody. >> I don't know. >> Like life-saving situation. >> Yeah. Like what? >> you chase somebody to save for saving their life? >> I don't know. There's probably three things. >> I mean, there's like five reasons I would probably chase. Like I told you, I was a chief of police officer. >> I think there's more than five reasons that I wouldn't drink and drive. So >> ever. My dad would have never hired you. Well, if you can't run, >> All righty, ma'am. Now's your opportunity to change your mind, okay? >> I am never changing my mind. You know that. >> The officers prepared Jennifer to be transported to the hospital, but while [music] at it, Jennifer suddenly had a meltdown. Her performance was quite convincing. Okay. So, how cooperative are we going to be with each other? Because if we're going to be cooperative, >> I'm not going to No. >> Okay. >> I just need to go because I just can't. I can't. I can't. It's I can't. Like you have done anything I can't. I can't. >> Can you listen to me for a second? >> I can't. It's It's so hard. You have done this and I can't. I can't do this. No, I can't. >> Okay. So, the reason why I asked that is because the back of my unit is pretty tight to get into and [clears throat and snorts] I would like to cuff you in the front and that would be a lot easier on you. Okay? And then uh take you that way. If not, I could handcuff you in the back and it's really uncomfortable. >> [laughter] >> Okay? >> Okay, with the front. >> Okay, that's fine. That's why I'm asking. Put your hands in the front like this. You have to have handcuffs on, but like I said, if we go to the front, it's way easier. Okay? >> In the end, Jennifer was charged with reckless driving while under the influence of liquor and having an open container of alcohol. On July the 16th, 2025, she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of non-reckless driving while intoxicated and the original charges were dismissed. >> [music] >> She was instructed to complete DWI school and community service. She was also asked to install an ignition interlock device in her car and pay an undisclosed fine. Still on drunk teachers, we have Kayla, a public education teacher who embarrassed herself while under the influence overlooking the harm it could do to her profession. >> You can arrest me. I don't care. I don't want to public educator. I have nothing to >> You're a public educator. >> Yes. I'm sorry for fighting for myself. I will never fight for myself again, okay? >> On November the 26th, 2023, officers were deployed to a bar regarding a drunk woman roaming around the locked part of the building and climbing the window sills. As soon as the officers arrived, they went in to help the woman and also tried to reason with her. But she was so intoxicated that she couldn't tell her right from her left. >> goes, right there. You got her. This is where she's at. >> Oh my gosh. >> Hey, stay right there. Stay. >> Stay. Stay. >> Okay. Stay back. Stay back. All right, you need to get out of here. >> You too. Me too. My home is upstairs. Okay, watch this. >> Ma'am, come on. Stop. >> All right, sir. I don't need your help. >> What's your address? >> You don't need to know my >> What's your address? Well, you're probably going to go to jail if you don't get out of here. >> Oh, really? >> You don't live here. >> How do you know whether I do or not? I wrote a little bit in the third floor. >> Do you have an ID? >> Absolutely. >> Can I see your ID? >> Well, it's on my debit card, but you can you can absolutely look it up, my friend. >> Is that your jacket? >> No, that's not my That's not my jacket. I don't wear it. >> Okay, let's go downstairs. >> I just wore like black and white. >> No, I'm not going to. >> one of your customers? >> Absolutely I'm one of your customers. I don't like you. >> All right, let's go. >> No, I'm not going up. Absolutely not. Do you want to give ME MY DEBIT CARD BACK, YOUNG MAN? CUZ I CAN PAY FOR YOUR salary and his salary twice times two. >> Nobody, nothing up there? Okay. >> Oh, really? >> All right, come on. Time to go. >> Hey, he just dumped it up here. Let me show you my stuff. >> Come on, we're going to help you find someone to pick you up. >> My husband's down there. I don't need it. >> Okay, let's call and find him. Let's call him. >> I don't need to call him. I exactly know where >> Otherwise, you're going to have to go to jail. I don't want to have to take you to jail. Public intoxication. >> I'm not drunk. You want to want me to blow? >> Then you can get your trespass. I don't want to though. >> Oh, really? Really? When that guy was trying to get up my pants and I ran from him? >> Can we start by going downstairs? >> Wait, wait, wait. I I'm supposed to feel sad or sorry for running from a man who was trying to get in my pants? >> I don't want to have to arrest you. >> You can arrest me. I don't care. I am a public educator. I have nothing in my name. >> Yes, absolutely. So you should you should uh >> I'm above public educator. I diagnose your children with autism, Down syndrome, all the above. >> You should know better. >> I'm not GOING TO FEEL SORRY FOR RUNNING FROM a man for pinning me against a wall wall to grope me. I'm not going to feel sorry for that. I'm sorry. You want me to feel No, no, no, no, no. You want me to feel bad for that. You want ME TO GO DOWN THERE AND SAY YES to grope me and grope me. >> You're a cop. >> I am more than a well-educated woman. There's nothing against my record ever in my entire life. And you want me >> Okay. Where do you live? >> Oh, I live in a farm. >> Okay. >> Of many acres that is multigenerational. You have no right to go down there to put a man to force himself against me. Are you kidding me? >> We're here You're going to >> I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE. >> WE'RE GOING DOWN THERE. WE'RE GOING DOWN THERE. >> I WILL GO OUT OF THIS BUILDING. I WILL NOT go down there. I don't care who you are. >> After ignoring the officer's instructions, she was put in handcuffs and this time she stooped to emotional blackmail. That's the price she had to pay for defying authority. >> Ma'am, I'm not I'm not going to play this game. Come on. You're under arrest. >> No, I am not. You're under arrest. Come here. You are under arrest. Do not resist. >> I am not resisting, but you have to stop. >> You're under arrest for public intoxication. >> I do not understand. Wait, wait, how do you >> You're now under arrest. Smell the alcohol on you. >> Ouch. Ouch, you're hurting my arm, please. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch. I will, Ron. I will put my arm behind my other arm, but you have to stop right now. >> Ma'am, you just stand up. >> No, not until you stop. Ow, you're hurting me. You're hurting me. You're hurting me. >> Ma'am, stand up. >> I absolutely will put my arms around but I won't >> This is ridiculous. Ma'am, that is coming to this. Yeah, absolutely. >> This is where you guys lose your arrest. >> 134 >> as a citizen for not wanting to be left I'm supposed to be on my way to work. >> Here's your ticket, ma'am. >> Can I please see your search warrant? >> Ma'am, you really have to come with >> No, I don't feel like I have to be that rude. What is that? >> Stop. >> No, I'm not doing anything my arm is in. Ouch. >> Okay. We're going out to the car. >> Can I please ask a question? >> What? >> Why did you want me to go back down here with the man that >> You don't live here. Nobody lives here. >> No, I don't I don't claim to live here. >> Come on. >> Can I ask you a question? Can I ask you a question first? >> We're done asking questions. >> You didn't even allow me to ask a >> Come on. >> Can I ask you a question first? >> You good? Yep, we're good. >> Okay, we'll walk down nicely. If you let go of me, I will walk down nicely. >> Stop. >> Ouch. Let me just >> Come on. Let's squeeze your hand. Come on. Come on. >> I I know, I will walk down nicely. I just want to know why you want me to walk down nicely. >> We're literally with you. Do you want to do a PBT to see how drunk you are? >> What do you do? I will see you. Okay. Okay, before we go down next, I'll be with you. >> We're not. You're coming with us. Okay? Come on. Stop screwing around. Please stop. Silver or chocolate? Get her out of this car. I'm sorry, young man. But I don't want to be touched by that man. Okay. You have to understand I don't want to be touched by a person. I'm sorry you thought I should be touched by him. I didn't want to be. >> Do you have anything in your mouth? Any gum or anything? >> Uh my tongue. I know him. Will you please look in my mouth? I don't have any. >> Okay. >> Okay. Will you tell my husband where I am? >> Get in. >> I am getting in. Why are you being so mean to me? I'm trying to list this stuff so I can fight it. Why are you being so mean to me? >> In the patrol vehicle, Kayla had an anxiety attack. [music] She appeared disoriented as though she didn't know where she was or what she had been charged for. She was completely out of this world. >> Officer, I'm sorry. >> Did you Did you have the PBT? >> I'm sorry, sir. >> You want one? >> Yeah, she said she wanted to do it. >> She's so drunk, I don't think she even knows what's going on. >> Hey, what's her name again? >> Uh Kaylee. >> Kaylee? >> I'm sorry, sir. >> Kaylee? >> I'm sorry, sir. >> If you want to do the PBT >> I'm sorry for not letting you touch me. I should have I'll just let you touch me. I'm so sorry, sir. >> Do you want to do a PBT? >> What is a PBT? >> test. >> I don't know what a PBT is, sir. >> A breath test. Stay in there. Stay in there. >> know what a PBT is, but I won't let that man touch me if you let me go, sir. I'm sorry for >> We're asking you to get a breath test. >> No, I'm sorry for fighting for myself. I will never fight for myself again, okay? >> If you want to do the breath test to see what your alcohol level is. >> is, sir. >> This right here. So, chill on zeros. It's a breath test. Do you want to see how much alcohol you consumed? >> I don't know what I consumed, sir. >> Okay, do you want to take this or not? >> Why would I? Can you tell me the benefits of taking it versus not taking it, sir? >> I'm just off I'm >> No, I just I'm asking you cuz you're an officer of the law. >> I can't I can't offer you legal advice. I can just offer you the >> you can offer see the the advice of a a professional advisor just like I would a woman or a man whose child was born disabled >> Okay, yes or no? >> No, no, you don't You don't need to test me, sir. >> If you're not going to give us an answer, it's just going to be a no. >> No, you were there and I told you what the man did to me. >> your last chance. We're offering you a PBT. >> Sir, I'm speaking to you cuz I don't know >> Here's the thing. What's your name? What is your name. >> My name is Kaylee Burson. >> Kaylee, here's the thing. >> And I didn't >> I'm offering you the >> I fought back to a man that tried to touch my Now I'm here. >> Okay. >> And I don't understand it. I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry that that occurred. >> But this this man here seems to think I'm the bad person and I don't understand. I said please call my husband who was outside. And he wouldn't Sorry. >> I'm sorry. I just let me adjust my red seal for a second. I have to switch for a second. One Okay. >> Anyway, I I said please let me talk to my husband and he said no. And that's fine, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do, sir. I don't know what I I am not a bad person. I am I have never broke the law in my life. And so I don't know what I should or shouldn't do, but I I had to try to think back to like what my government teacher told me in high school which has been many years ago cuz I'm getting old. >> Okay, we offered it to her. >> Okay, so here's the thing. >> You You act like you're You act like I'm a piece of because you looked at the man that tried to touch me. You said he tried to jump. You >> We're offering you a PBT. I'm not going to say anything. >> But I have nothing to do with the man that was getting aggressive. >> Then put your foot back in there. Offered it to her. She don't want it. This is the wildest thing I've ever dealt with. >> All the officers' efforts to explain the situation went down the drain as Kaylee no longer listened. She seemed to have drifted further away in her illusions. >> Do you want to do a PBT? Do you want to >> I don't know if >> Do you want to do a Do you want to do a preliminary breath test which will just show if there's >> Sir, I just don't want that man to touch me. >> It's just a breath test that you it's would blow into a machine. >> What? So you your breath test needs to be public and tough? >> Well, you're already being arrested for that. It's It's your right to be offered it. We have to offer it to you. If you >> It was supposed to let them take >> If >> Then then I wouldn't go to jail? >> No. No, that's what anyone's saying. So do you do you want to do the Do you want to do the preliminary Do you want to do Do you want to PBT? It's your right. You want a PBT, yes or no? A breath test. What I've explained to you. It's a breath test. Do you want to do a breath test? It measures the alcohol in your system. Preliminary breath test. >> But I have up to 4 hours from the time I'm arrested. >> No, that that's an That's an OWI. >> Well >> So you >> Well, I don't know. >> So yes or no? >> I I guess I want you to answer this, sir. I don't know who to trust here. >> It's your right. Okay. >> I understand what my rights are. >> Okay. Do you want to Do you want to PBT? >> I know I want you to answer this question. If I was allowed to be able to touch me tonight >> No, it's not a >> [clears throat] >> touch me, would I be okay tonight? >> No, you're You're in the You're in the window still, okay? >> That's all I need to know right now. If I >> We're just going to say you didn't want one then, okay? All right. So we can see your breath test and you can go our van so you can go to jail. >> For what? What did I do? >> Public Public intoxication and interference for the fence to act. >> Step out? >> No, I asked you a question, sir. >> It doesn't matter. If you didn't I'm going to ask one more time or else I'm going to pull you out. >> You'd be bullying me, sir, but I asked you the question first. What if I am under arrest for, sir? >> Public intoxication. >> How do you know I'm under the influence, sir? I will stand up. I will gladly stand up. >> Hey, Kaylie, stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Okay. >> I am under I'm going to I'm going to move your bag. >> Kaylee, just relax. >> Kaylee, this is Kaylee. Don't make a big of a deal. No, let's stand up. >> Hey, what are you saying to me? >> I'm just saying let's lift. >> Is he under arrest right now? >> I'm just saying let's relax so we can get everything sorted. >> now, sir? >> No. >> Is he under arrest? No. Who said that? Just me cuz they said no. It's just >> Do you have anything on you that's going to get you in trouble at jail? >> My debit card, maybe. >> Any weapons or anything like that? Do you have any weapons like a knife or anything like that? All right, Kaylee. We're going to do this search. No, you get your own. >> Your own personal bag. >> Okay. Just I am a violent person, right? >> Yeah, watch your head when you go in there, okay? >> That's fine by me to confirm, sir. >> Okay. Have a seat. You got that stuff there. All the bags are in the front seat. I didn't want to set it on the wetness for you guys. >> In the end, Kaylee was charged with public intoxication. Next is the case of Becky Miranda, a reckless teacher who drove while highly intoxicated, completely disregarding the fact that it could cost her career. >> Thank you. >> Do not resist being arrested, okay? >> So, just just a little >> I hope you guys are good. Like, I'm don't know second grade teacher. Like are you guys serious? >> On January the 28th, 2024, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle [music] for a lane violation and signs of possible intoxication. When the officer approached the vehicle and asked for the necessary documents, the driver suddenly went into panic mode. She was a teacher who very well knew that her reputation and career were at stake. Hello. Hi, officer Cordova Lake Forest Police Department. Is everything okay? >> Yeah, I'm actually concerned that you're pulling me over for speeding. I'm going the speed limit. >> Okay. So, the reason I stopped you, you almost went through that red light at Deer Park and Golf. And then while I was following you, your driver's side tires crossed over the solid yellow line in the middle there that splits the lane. Can I see your driver's license and insurance, please? >> Absolutely. >> Is everything okay today? Okay. Why that Why is that? Okay. Well, I'm not pulling you over for speed. >> You have my license. And then my insurance. Can you give me a minute? >> Yeah, that's fine. Not rushing you. Where are you coming from today? >> Uh my son's basketball practice. >> Is T Where is that at? >> It's on >> That's where you're coming from? Okay. Have you been drinking today? >> No. >> Okay. >> I have my license. I have my license and my insurance. >> Well, I'm I'm not stopping you for speed. >> I get that. I don't know the reason you're pulling me >> Well, I I told you the reason why I stopped you. Can I have it? Thank you. I'm sorry, I can't hear you. What was that? Yeah. I'm looking at it right now. Is everything okay? >> Yes. >> Well, why are you I'm not I'm just looking at your insurance. Why are you yelling at me? >> Becky suddenly remembered that she had a teaching career to protect. It's funny how she hadn't thought of that when she decided to drive drunk. >> Becky, can you do me a favor and step out so we can do this out here? So, we have the lane blocked off. It's on side of the road. You're not going to get hit. Is there a reason why you don't want to do it here? >> Yes, it's embarrassing. I don't touch it. >> No one's No one's going to see you. >> That's it. No one's watching. Why am I going to do it in my car? >> No, you're going to step out here. >> car is going to block the view of me even doing it. >> Tell me what you want me to do. >> Well, I would like >> to step out of the car. You're going to be We're going to be behind your car. >> I have my car blocking our view. No one can see No one's going to be able to see. And I want to check your eyes and just put you through two other fields after that. I can't do this. I can't DJ in the community, can you help me find some place else? >> Thank you. >> I can't do this. >> Okay, would you like to come to the station now? >> NO, I'M NOT doing it in the station. >> All right, so this is your only option is to do this here. So, please step out of the car so we can do this. >> The officers conducted a field sobriety test, which Becky thought she passed, but that wasn't the case. Following standard procedures, the cops needed to run a field sobriety test. In that moment, Becky started to realize that while she technically could contest the results of the field sobriety test, the breathalyzer was almost certain to give her away. >> Are you willing to provide a breath sample? >> No, I'm not. >> No? >> I passed your test. >> Okay. Is that enough? You don't want to do it at all? >> No. >> Okay. All right. Um, we'll go ahead and put you in the patrol van and go back. >> Talk to your boss. I I'll do it now. >> You will? Okay. >> Seriously, guys, come on. DJ in the area, I PASSED I PASSED YOUR TEST. GIVE ME A BREAK. >> OKAY. >> LIKE, come on. Do you really want it to be like this? >> Okay, so you're going to wrap your You're going to blow in it like you're you're blowing up an air balloon, okay? Take a big deep breath and you're going to blow into it. >> Okay, ready? Big deep breath and keep blowing until I tell you to stop, okay? >> What's that? >> I passed your test, like, please. >> Ready? >> Please. >> I understand. Please. >> No, I'm seriously, like, you're like a junior like asking me to do that. Like, come on. >> Becky, take a deep breath in. Becky. Becky, we're almost done, okay? Take a deep >> You want to do it? >> You said you were going to do it. I just need you to do one big blow. >> No, you don't take me to the station if I say no. >> No, we're not That's not That's not That is That is not a >> say no. >> That is That isn't dictated. >> But I'm saying no. I'm saying no. I'm I said no. >> So, you're going to be under arrest. >> You're arresting me if I say no? >> That's not That's not That's not That doesn't dictate if you're going to be under arrest or not. This is just completely optional if you want to do this or not. >> Becky thought she could walk away unpunished, [music] but everything became clear when her wrist was snapped together with handcuffs. >> You first say what you said. >> What? >> You're under arrest. >> Did you say that? >> No. >> No, I didn't say that. No, I told you Can you please back up? Listen, Becky. Let me talk to you for a second. >> Becky, like, seriously, can I just go home? >> Listen, Becky. This is optional. >> I passed your test. >> You showed signs of functioning and if you're going to blow in >> You weren't even here. >> I I was watching from a distance. I did. You don't have to do it. Let me tell you that. >> no. >> You showed multiple clues that you're intoxicated and under the >> We're not We're not doing this. >> well, since you're not doing this, you're under arrest. You're under arrest. Hey, put your hands behind your back. Becky. That's That isn't dictated. I got it. >> No, say no. No, no, no, no. >> No. >> Do not resist being arrested, okay? >> Okay. I won't blow. I'm not doing that. >> Okay, we'll give you another chance at the station. >> Okay, great. >> Here, can you face that way, please? >> You'll have another at the station, okay? >> Yeah. I don't want to do this. I cannot grab this on my right arm. >> So, you'll have another chance to blow at the station, okay? >> We need to put the cuffs on properly. Thank you. >> I said yes, and they're still doing that. >> Yeah. >> Can you please stop? >> 341 in custody. >> Will you please just work with us? >> We've been working with you. >> No. >> You're going back to the station. It's been decided. >> Will you please help me? >> You got it? >> Yeah. Try it. Yeah, it is. >> Listen. >> Will you please help? It's okay, you could have really small wrists. >> Despite all that had happened so far, Becky believed she still had the right to make demands, but the officers [music] quickly brought her down from her high horse. >> Can you please stop? >> I'm going to have to come to the station with you, okay? >> You can talk to them when we go back to the station. Yeah. >> This is inappropriate. >> What's inappropriate? >> What do I do with my >> Can you step and talk to them? >> To the left. >> To the right, please. Can you be in front of the camera? >> Give me a break. Are you serious? >> What do you mean? >> Can you bring me to the left of your car? I don't need to be in the camera. >> You'll get searched. >> Oh my god. >> There's nothing about it right now, okay? Just don't resist arrest. Let's just go. what you >> This is inappropriate. >> Nothing you can do about it now. Let's just go to the station. >> What do you have in the car that you need? Do you have your purse in the car? Is your purse in the car? >> Yes. >> Okay. She's got it. >> Good? >> Yeah, I'll get it out of the >> Yeah, seriously. She doesn't have anything on her. >> Okay, I will go to lift my car. >> Do not tell our children. >> Can I get the keys, please? >> Okay. What about my purse? >> What? We'll get it for >> Get my purse from my car. >> Sure. >> Yeah, we'll get we'll get it for you. >> Can I get the purse? >> We'll get it and we'll hand it to you. >> Thank you. Anything else in the car? >> Do you need anything else in the car? >> No. >> Okay. >> At the station, Becky became hysterical while also thinking that her position as a teacher would let her [music] off the hook. If only the officers would cooperate. >> Let's just like work with each other, okay? Like, if Do I have to go to school? Do I have to go to court? >> Uh so, yeah, you'll have to go to court. >> have to pay bills? Like, what do we have to >> You'll have to go to court um as far as >> Are we going to be in the Are we getting written up in the newspaper? >> No, you're not going to be in the You're not going to be in the blotter. So, I wouldn't worry about that. You're going to be released tonight. Um You're going to have to go to court. Listen, you're getting charged today. Whether you get convicted at court, that's a whole 'nother story. That's really up to the judge. You'll have to talk to your attorney about all of this and uh and see what the judge decides at court, okay? So, do you want to sign this? You'll get a copy of it. It's It's like a receipt. By signing, you're not admitting to any guilt. >> What am I signing for? >> Basically, you're you're just By you signing >> going to my son's You know, I was there at my son's basketball game like, come on. Like Seriously, people, there are so many criminals doing so many bad things. I'm a teacher. Like doing nothing besides like going [clears throat] to my son's basketball game and you guys are like literally like arresting me. Like, come on. Like Do you guys literally think this is like what you guys want to do in your lives? Like arrest moms for like going to our kids' games, having fun with their buds. Like, come on. This is so inappropriate. >> Becky, by you signing this, it's just acknowledging that Officer Cordova read this to you, and then you can get your copy. >> CORDOVA DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING. >> He doesn't >> 22-YEAR-OLD DOESN'T EVEN KNOW what he's doing. This is so inappropriate. >> Okay, well, you don't have to sign that. >> Okay, that's fine. >> 20-minute observation officer >> So inappropriate. >> Make sure you write down whatever you're you're starting. >> Like, I hope you guys are okay arresting the teachers of the youth of America that I have to go to my classes and teach them. Hope you're good with that. Like, seriously, people, like, are we seriously like arresting the moms of Lake Forest? >> Yeah, it doesn't matter who you are. Like, drinking and driving isn't acceptable. >> Really? Do you guys really think I'm drinking and driving? You guys gave me the test and I passed your test and you guys know it. I passed your test. I did my heel-to-toe. >> Three or four. >> I did my eye test. That test was worse than my heel-to-toe. You guys know I passed the test. You guys know it. I passed the test. So, like, you really after your test, do you really think that I should Yes. Why? >> I told you during the test >> asked you tell me what I did to pass in your test. >> It's not a pass or fail. It's >> a pass or fail. >> It's you showed signs of impairment. >> Except I passed your test. >> You don't pass or fail. >> said I could have driven home after I passed your test. So, >> If you were okay to do so. >> Well, so what did I pass? >> Once you determine if you're good to drive or not, if you're good to drive, then we'll let you drive. But if you're not, then you're not going to drive. >> You I passed your heel-to-toe. I passed your eye test. >> It's not a pass or fail. >> Okay, so what you're saying is you gave me the test and it it's you fail. >> I told you it's not a pass or fail. It's it shows signs of impairment or not. >> No. So, what did I show as signs of impairment? >> In your eyes. >> Okay, so why did you give me the test? >> What? >> Why did you give me the test? >> If you if you're good to drive or not. >> Yeah, but what I'm saying is that I feel like I passed your test, so what did I do to fail your test? >> I just told you you showed signs of impairment with your eyes, walk and turn. >> You're not going to tell me what I did to fail your test. >> You know it's not a pass or fail. Becky didn't understand that every irrational move she made would only make things worse than they already were. But maybe, just maybe, she would come to her senses. >> Okay, let's go. Let's go. >> Okay. Then we're going to take you to Lake Bluff so you can >> I know, but listen, listen. That's why you >> Put me in the cop car with arrest. Get the cuffs on. Okay. Okay, let's go. Excuse me. >> Give me another 20 up there. >> Yeah, where are we at here? No lawyer. I can't bring my lawyer in to be like we're not >> Well, it's completely up to you. Do you want to do it or not? I Listen, I don't want to waste my time or your time driving you there and then you're like, "Oh, I don't want to blow anymore." So, make your decision now. >> I'm not getting a suspended license for a year. Give me a break. >> No one's doing that. >> So, then what are you saying you want to do? >> Well, I guess I have to go to Lake Bluff. >> If you want to do Okay. >> No, I don't want to go to Lake Bluff. >> Okay. Okay. >> call my husband? Can I figure out what's going on? Where's my car on the side of the road? And can I please not have my car on the side of the road? >> Your car Your car was towed. >> Oh my god. Where is my car? >> It's towed right Ernie, so it's in >> Okay. >> Leave that off. You can't put it on. Leave it all there. >> So, when am I coming back for this? >> As right after you blow, we're taking you back here. >> So, wait. When am I getting my car? >> You're have You're going to have to get your car tomorrow. So, just just a quick >> are good. Like, I'm a [ __ ] grade teacher. Like, are you guys >> Okay, so just to >> I'm going to like Uber to my job, getting dropped off. Like, this is insane. This is insane. >> Okay, so just to confirm you want to blow and go to Lake Bluff? >> Well, what am I going to do? I have a suspended license for a year. >> Say yes or no. >> Tell me, guys. Do I need to call my lawyer now? Are you guys being real with me? >> We're being real with you. The option's yours. You're more than welcome to make a phone call right now. >> And then what? I have a suspended license for a year. >> And then if you want to go to Lake Bluff to go blow. >> Vicky was transported to the other station for the breathalyzer test, but the officers didn't know that a surprise test awaited them. >> As I sit in the police The officer finally conducted the breathalyzer test, and it turned out that Becky blew a .14, which is almost double the legal driving limit. The officers wanted to take Becky's pictures and once again things got out of hand. >> We have water. >> just saying I'm a wreck. >> You can't leave until we do this. >> I don't remember like this is Like okay, really? Okay. >> The faster we do this, the faster we do this. >> I don't care. But I need to know the repercussions. Like I can't have people looking this up. I can't have people searching for me and finding this information. >> Well, people can search up anything. >> They They won't be searching up mugshots. >> to be in your in the blotter in the week for us. >> No, I'm talking about my school district. Can they look this up? >> They're not going to >> very important. I don't need to be fired because I went out and got a DUI. >> know if they can look I don't think >> basketball tournament. Like let's be real people. Do you want to lose your job? You never go out and have drink with >> If we were drinking, if I'm telling you right now, if we any of one of us got arrested for DUI, we'd probably get fired. >> Okay, well >> So >> You have chosen the profession of being >> As a as a police officer, so you've got if we got arrested, if I got arrested by another agency, let's say by Libertyville, they would call my PD and tell them what happened. >> They They might or they might not. >> No, they will. >> There's no like they will. >> They will. >> I'm just saying I cannot have people looking this up. >> Becky, let's take your photograph. >> not >> Why are we doing a photograph? >> You have to. Yeah. >> I'm just saying you're not being honest with me. Who's looking this up? So if my school district looks this up tomorrow, like my mugshot somewhere, like come on. >> We're not even going to notify your school district. >> Well, what if they look it up? >> Anybody can look up anything. Anybody can FOIA anything. >> Why would they have a reason to just Google you? I don't know. Anybody can like Google you or FOIA you or do whatever you want. I mean like come on, people. >> why would they get that idea in their head? They have no idea what's going on right now. So unless you tell >> No, yeah, I know. it. I'm just saying like this is crazy. Like >> Well, the sooner you guys get to leave >> Let me ask you a question. >> What's up? >> I hope that you guys go home tonight and can rest your head on the pillow feeling that you did the right thing. >> Okay. >> Cuz there's a lot of times when I go home from my students too. And I rest my head on the pillow for this. And I don't think you can. >> I can tell you right now, I'm going to sleep just fine knowing that I prevented a DUI driver. >> I WAS 1 MINUTE FROM MY HOUSE. YOU'RE AT A WHOLE status right now. Seriously, you know that. I was 1 minute from my house. I'm sorry. I really don't think I crossed the line. I passed all your tests. You're bringing me in. Like, come on. Write Write it down. Now, I'm going to get like you in a comedy. Let's go. I would like to go home. >> Okay. >> Can we do that or not? >> Hang on. I'm going to do a referral. >> After the picture session, [music] an officer read Becky her Miranda rights for further questioning, but she chose to remain unmaneuverable with no remorse [music] for what she had done. >> So, why are we doing this now? You already caught me on the road. >> I'd like to ask you further questions. I'd like to ask you questions. >> About what? What are we asking questions about? Aren't we done? >> No, I'd like to ask you further questions. Do you understand your rights? >> I I I guess. I don't understand why we're >> sign that you understand that you I read you your rights? >> Shouldn't you have read me my rights on the road when you caught me? >> You were under arrest. >> Right. So, why didn't you read me the Miranda rights on the road? Why are you reading me my rights now? >> Before I caught you? >> Yeah. Why didn't you read me my rights then? >> You weren't under arrest before that. >> So, why are we doing this >> now? >> Because you are under arrest and I want to ask you questions. >> Why? >> Because I would like to ask you questions. >> But, why am I under arrest at this point? I don't understand. >> What do you mean? What do you mean? >> Why am I under arrest now after I've already been caught two times, taken to Lake Bluff, and now I'm back? >> Okay, you've been Once I put handcuffs on you on the road, that's when you were placed under arrest. >> After the interrogation, Becky had other worries and [music] she only wanted things to go her way, forgetting that if she had harmed someone, things would have certainly gone out of hand. >> Okay, I have to have my car, so should my husband bring $500 right now? >> Well, you're not going to get your You can't get your car for another 12 hours. >> Yeah. I get that, but in 12 hours, I will have my car. >> If she has to come out, she has to come tomorrow morning when records is here. >> to come tomorrow morning. >> Why can't he come Why can't we pay the $500 now? >> is not here. He'll work tomorrow morning. So, with that being said, I need I need you to sign >> I need to have my car. >> Okay, I understand. >> By tomorrow. I mean, please, people. I I have children. I have commitments. This is ridiculous. >> I understand that. >> So, what am I signing now? >> This is for your vehicle being impounded. >> Okay, but I have to have my car >> You can get it tomorrow. Yes, you can get it tomorrow. >> my husband's going out of town, so how am I going to come here and pay the $500 before I go to work? And then, what? All right. >> Did you get >> We'll ask um our supervisor if your husband can pay you the $500 tonight, but you still can't get your car until 12:00. >> That's fine. Okay. I can get my car tomorrow after I go to work cuz I'm teaching the youth of America. Thank God I'm getting arrested tonight. This is so wonderful. And then, where I want a specific address as to where my car is. >> Yeah, we will give you a business card. Yeah. >> So, yeah, you'll get everything. This is where your car is going to be. We'll give it with all your paperwork, okay? >> So, I need you to sign this thing, you will understand that your vehicle is being impounded. We'll give you a paper that >> Okay, so what does that mean? They have my car? >> So, they have your car? >> Are they doing anything with my car? No? >> No. So, you have to come here, pay the fine, and then we contact Ernie's saying we can release the car to you. You go over there and pick up the car. >> Okay, so if we pay the fine tonight, how are we paying that? >> I don't know. Cash, credit card, >> card, whatever. Let's talk to your supervisor. >> once we get this signed, yeah. >> Thank you. Miranda was ultimately charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage. Following this is a case of Christopher Rivas, a junkie whose first day at school became his last after he showed up heavily intoxicated and got fired for his careless attitude. >> You drank a lot last night. >> I wouldn't say a lot, but I'd say >> Right. Other days you've drank more, but you drank enough. >> You know what I mean, though? Yeah, which would also make me not be able to actually be a teacher ever again. >> On October the 10th, 2025, a substitute elementary school gym teacher made a move that could have put the students that were supposed to be in his care in jeopardy. It was reported that he showed up to school on his first day so drunk that he staggered out of his car and fell to his knees when he arrived at school. Even stayed with the students for over an hour before other teachers called the cops on him. Upon arrival, Christopher was taken to a private room for questioning. [music] The most Christopher thought he could do for himself was go round in circles, but he was about to understand that a silly story was going to do nothing to change what he had just done. >> I know you're with me in the building. I I think we're just wondering if you're under the influence of something, and so we have been having an officer here today, so we just wanted to talk to you about that. >> Okay. What's your first name, pal? >> Chris. >> Chris, nice to meet you. I'm Officer Christopher. >> Yeah. >> You What would you rather me call you? >> Totally up to you. >> Okay. All right, well, I'm Officer Marotzke. Um again, I just so happen to be in the building cuz the kids won like a luncheon cool thing. So, that's kind of why I was here. Um but then it was also reported that you seemed like you were under the influence. How long have you been working in the school in here? >> Here at Summerfield. >> This is first day? >> Yeah. >> Okay, so this is obviously everybody's first interaction with you and we're kind of learning who Chris is, right? That's fair? >> Correct. >> Okay, so we don't necessarily have a long history of understanding like if she came in and was acting a little goofy, I'm sure she would be able to pick up on it, right? So, we're we're learning. So, please take no offense to any of this if it ends up being nothing, but unfortunately as it sits right now, how it is on our plate, we're going to address that maybe it's kind of something serious, okay? Um with that all being said, currently you're not in trouble with me, okay? So, I'm not detaining you or you're not under arrest, so you are free to go. I I I love to express that to people because you should know your rights. You get what I'm saying there? >> Correct. >> Okay. Um So, again, I just try to make sure we're all on the same page there. I do have my body cam on cuz anytime I'm talking with somebody I I like Okay, correct? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, Chris, is there anything going on today? Are you stressed? Are you tired? >> Uh I didn't sleep that much last night. >> Didn't sleep that much? I'm sorry to hear that. I hate when that happens. >> the only thing really a relationship thing that's going on. >> Okay, I'm sorry to hear. >> Besides that, just doing my job and doing what I do. I mean, I was a teacher in >> [sighs] >> Milwaukee and then moved because of the girl. And then and thought it was going to be like more serious, so I It's a better job. Elementary. And then now Yeah, it's pretty much now time It's not permanent. So, uh I mean from being honest, like I do have like a OGBI under her coming or not. >> Okay. >> And then that is that was under an accident that barely caused any accident, but I didn't get to give my proof of insurance and my headlight, everything. And I got charged with all of it. So, pretty much it was just more of like some of them I am Jefferson. And just kind of my new life. New life just trying to let this like kind of blow over, I guess. I didn't do anything wrong. >> Okay. >> But yeah, I mean, like besides that, it's I haven't worked. I haven't been able to work in like like 20 days cuz Teachers Night Out has been kind of slow there, I think. So. >> Sure. >> And they did give me Muscogee, which when I did leave >> Kristina Waller? >> when I personally like left um Harlem and that area like Muscogee was one of the places I actually So, it's good to see you. But that's about it. And that's about it. So. But yeah. >> Awesome. >> Harland. What was that I said? I mean, it's doing my job, doing everything I have to do. >> The officer was very upfront with Christopher, but he remained adamant. He probably thought he was speaking to a kid who'd be easy to deceive, but he was about to learn the hard way. All right. Um thanks for sharing some of the history about you. Um it also kind of gave me the ability to maybe kind of, you know, assess and and just listen to what you're saying and some of the body language that you're giving me. Uh I'm definitely thinking that maybe there's something on board here. Where Where you Did you drink anything this morning, last night? Did you take any drugs medication? Are you on Are you prescribed anything? >> No. >> No? No to everything? >> I don't know. My friends last night goes about it. >> Okay, you hung out with your friends. How How How late did you hang out? >> I'm not adding. So no melatonin like one of these like, you know, like these gummies? So like, you know, melatonin? >> Yeah. >> So I took one of those and probably slept. That's about it. I don't know. My friends. >> Okay. What time did you take the melatonin? >> I didn't sleep last night. I was up with my phone all night. >> Got you. >> So I just >> 11. >> You didn't sleep at all last night. >> I didn't sleep at all. >> Okay. >> So I just went out. Just cuz >> Oh, no. I'm just kidding. >> time going back to like work and I'm just trying to uh >> [sighs] >> process it just cuz everything happened pretty quick and everything happened like super great. >> Sure. >> And I'm just trying to like process like why it is that things are happening a certain way and I'm just That's it. >> Yeah. >> And I'm >> Still for you. >> So Yeah. >> Okay. So how many milligrams was in the melatonin, do you know? >> 10. >> 10 milligrams? Do you normally take 10 milligram melatonin or >> Yeah. I think one time with the first time we actually bought it, I took it twice. I don't know. I just take twice cuz I wasn't on the wagon. I had nothing. But Um yeah. I mean >> So it's a normal dosage for you. That's what I'm asking. Okay. When you take the melatonin, does it normally put you to sleep right away? >> Melatonin puts you to sleep like in like 30 minutes, but since I'm going to be sitting on my phone for a little bit, and then sometimes apparently when you look at it the screen time it doesn't actually put you to sleep at certain time. >> It's fair. What time did you take the melatonin? Do you remember? >> Like 11. >> 11:00 p.m.? Okay. You didn't take anything else? >> No. >> You didn't drink anything? >> Soda. I mean like if we're going to cuz I feel like the route that we're going right now is like >> I haven't had it in ages. >> Never. >> What are you thinking about? What do you mean? Help me out. >> I don't know. I mean I'm not trying to be in trouble. Like the last thing I can do is be in trouble. The last thing I can do. >> Well, I can tell you what. Um nobody likes to be in trouble, right? Everyone overthinks it and everyone panics and it is what it is, but um unfortunately there um some things in life that make things difficult, but just know we can always be better and we can always conquer those things, okay? So, whether or not you're feeling you're in trouble or not, just know that this doesn't define you, okay? If you made a if you made a mistake, if you made a bad decision, it is what it is, Chris. I'll support you. I'll back you up as long as you're honest with me. Uh the staff will back you up, but you got to be honest, okay? >> I am. >> So, I'm I'm going to be honest with you. You appear like you're under the influence of something, okay? I take melatonin every night, so I know that it's not just melatonin, okay? I'm also a police officer. I've done many event investigations, many uh impairment investigations. >> All right. >> This is my first time meeting you, but you've got some slurred speech. You're bouncing around in your stories as you're talking to me when you're explaining certain things in different cities and you're So you're kind of bouncing around a little bit. Your eyebrows are clenched right now cuz I think you're trying to figure out what I'm saying to you. Okay? Is that fair? >> I mean, it's Personally, I just kind of want to >> You want to Okay. So, what's going on is I think you're under the influence of something. So, I don't think you've necessarily been fully honest with me. I don't think it's just melatonin. Okay? >> As the interrogation continued, more irrelevant stories surfaced, but it was only a matter of time before Christopher broke. >> Give you one more opportunity. >> I'm trying to be honest with you. >> Okay. >> Because you already told me I'm not to tell anything. >> Yep. >> Yes, I have nothing to like say. I mean, like it's more of like Yeah. Did I I don't two months of not working. Did I do absolutely what I wanted to do. I wanted to go out, wanted to teach. I wanted to teach like it's what I'm good at. I run a summer camp in the summertime at a country club. We have a fun summer camp. We go I do all this stuff and that uh you know I have nothing to Give me that as far as like yeah, the the one thing that did happen like There's there's two things that happened here, I guess. So, there's two things that happened. One thing happened to me back in February. So, February is when I told you about >> Yep. >> And then in August, um somebody in Cutty somebody in Cutty said that my like back right tire hit the curb and I was like there was cars on like the streets. Like I don't know how my car hit the curb. But I had pulled over and I got a ticket for like reckless driving and all that stuff. Like I didn't even do this. Like it's it's someone like Henning. But I'm just like I didn't do this stuff and I just wanted to be done and over with and cuz what what cuz apparently what what is going on is like my Harlem job when I was in Harlem area they made me made me Sorry. This made me made me quit because they didn't want the publicity of accreditation being a part of it. And they're like we're we're not going to be a part of it. >> That sucks cuz that doesn't define you, right? If it was an accident >> It's what it is. And and it's not even proven yet. >> Right. >> And I want this whole thing to be cool. >> Cool. Okay. >> And nice and >> So then let's do that this time. Let's make things cool. How much did you have to drink today? >> Not so much. >> That's it? >> No. >> What does that mean? >> Well, I what >> Be honest here. >> I'm being honest. But I'm trying to figure out like >> We want to work with you, right? So obviously they have the ability to talk to the agency that brought you here, right? So obviously they have the ability to call them to talk to them on your behalf, okay? I think it would be better for them to talk to the people on your behalf, honestly. >> I might be able to You are not being arrested. >> Am I going to be cool to be like like those today? >> I'm not arresting you today. >> I'm I'm so going to be okay. >> How much did you have to drink today? >> Not today. But >> How much did you drink last night? >> Um 230 like my like last week ship over there. But >> You drank a lot last night. >> I wouldn't say a lot, but >> Right. Other days you've drank more, but you drank enough last night. >> No, but >> Okay. This is honesty. Let's Okay, so >> No, not tonight. >> Did you drink any more while you were here? >> No. >> Okay. Absolutely not. Okay. Thank you for that. Do you have uh like a one of those cool bottles? >> A water bottle? >> No. >> No. No water bottle. Okay. Aside from drinking, did you take any medication or any pills or any weed? >> No, sir. >> Okay. So, it's you you're just you're just under the influence of alcohol right now. That's it. >> It's probably not in my system, yeah. >> Okay. >> That's why >> You don't think it's in your system? >> Well, I mean it's in my system, but >> Yeah. Would you be willing to do a breathalyzer? >> Yeah, sure. >> Christopher was asked to do a preliminary breath test, which he agreed to. The result was .36, which was over four times the legal driving limit of .08. The officer tried to make sense of the result with Christopher. And though he tried to pull a fast one, his plan ultimately failed. >> So, you didn't sleep last night, you drank last night. >> That's probably right. And I also didn't eat last night, so >> But it >> It probably >> But it also is very, very high and it's noon. So, you should have gone down. So, you said you didn't drink a lot, a lot last night. Which leads me to believe one or two things. Either A, you're a functioning alcoholic. And we can work on that. and can help you with that. and I can give you numbers to call. Or two, you didn't stop drinking until like 9 8:00 9:00 this morning. You were pounding until that point. So, >> I was here before that. >> Okay, so 7:00. Is that when you had your last drink? >> Well, I live in Jefferson. >> Right. And you're a 0.36, so you drove all the way here. >> Okay, so your ride, okay, thank god for that. Okay, your ride drove you here. >> Correct. >> Did you have anything to drink while you're in the building? >> Correct. No. >> No, okay. All right, so your part with me is just about done. So, now I'm going to defer you >> Correct. >> to the administrator, okay? Thank you for your honesty. Dude, it goes a long way in my book. You were willing to blow, goes a long way in my book. Okay? >> Yeah. >> You're struggling with some stuff, and that sucks, man, and I feel for you. Um >> All right. >> But unfortunately, I'm going to pass pass the uh >> It's It's all right. >> The officer handed the conversation over to the administrator, and while Christopher continued with his cock-and-bull stories, the administrator had the most heartbreaking information to relay to him. >> I don't want to be Yeah. It's It's awesome as It's awesome as this job is, I don't want to be part of that policy. I appreciate And like And like if if they're letting me and they're like but I mean like personally for me like yeah. I'll do it. I'll do it the best of my ability. I mean I'll do it the best I ever can. Guess that's just how I But I understand their circumstances as far as like that. So I mean it's not my decision. >> I know that you do. So, having been a teacher, right? Like you said you worked in MPS, you said you worked in Hartlands. I think you think you know you know how schools operate. You cannot come to school intoxicated and teach kids. Like it's not safe. The two The two don't go together. So like I'm I'm speaking on behalf of Bay Lane Elementary and actually on behalf of pretty much the whole school district that we will not allow teachers who come to school intoxicated to be with our kids. And so at this point today I'm just going to have to say to you we're done. We're done here. And we're going to You're not under arrest, but I'm not going to have you teach anymore here today. In fact, I'm probably not going to have you teach here probably ever because I can't take that chance. And maybe another district will. I don't know. We will let TOC know because that's part of how they operate because they're not You're not my employee, but I have to let them know my reason for letting you go. So I don't know as you indicated you don't have Do you know obviously you don't have a car here? I don't even know that I would have felt comfortable with you driving. >> No, not at all. Do you have Do you have access to to somebody come pick you up? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um do you want to facilitate that kind of get that going? Let's get that ball rolling. >> Right. Yeah, as soon as >> Do you have your phone Do you have your phone on you? >> Yeah. >> I need to let her I need something in the lobby. >> Okay. >> As officers were preparing his ride home, [music] another officer pressed Christopher further and that was when everything blew up in his face, sealing his fate. >> When did you last drink, Chris? >> Last night. >> I'm sorry? >> Last night. >> Okay. And then you drove here? >> No. >> How did you get to the school here? >> My mom. She's coming to pick me up. >> Okay. Well, you're intoxicated is my understanding and you're at a public place. So it's not good. Right? So we're trying to figure out like what the what the what our best course is right now because >> Can I just have my mom pick me up? >> Yeah. >> Like I'm I'm not It wasn't my intentions at all. And >> It wasn't your intention to show up at a point three out. Is that what you're saying? >> Correct. I I didn't sleep at all last night. I I fell asleep. >> Okay. >> So, I just if if my mom's able to pick me up, like I just go home, like just I don't want to get in trouble. The thing [music] is the one thing I can't do is get in trouble. >> Why is that? >> Cuz I do have a pending order of you out. >> Okay. >> And that rule kind of screwing. And I don't want to be a part of it. Mainly because a couple like the two of the tickets that I got I didn't even do, but the officers didn't do their job. And I got blamed with it and >> Do you want to go to our place, Boston? >> I would just I would just prefer to >> Yeah. Um are we So >> I would just prefer >> Let's go Let's go 80. Okay. Can you do that for me? >> Okay. >> Yeah. Chris, Chris, you got a warrant. Easy. >> Yeah, you got a warrant. >> Just hand us your hand us your hands behind your >> back. >> Hold on. Let's take this off. >> As easy as possible, Chris. >> What? >> Cuz you got a warrant, bud. >> What? >> Did you miss me a court appearance or something? >> No, who's that? I have I think I thought I was >> And this isn't even us right now. This is Milwaukee Sheriff. >> I'm not I didn't do it. Can I make a phone call? >> Yeah, we'll be One step at a time, Chris. >> Christopher couldn't make any sense of what had just happened. He was lost in the blur of the moment. >> Christopher, sir. This way. Well, I mean, we can give her a phone call and let her know where we're going to end up. >> Okay. >> You have a warrant. You showed up to work drunk. >> Why Why do you Why don't I have a warrant? >> Apparently you didn't show up for court, man. Can you go through that? I don't know if you call that a warrant. No. >> Do you know this guy? >> No. >> So, he's literally a felon assault that >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Well, I'm going to fix the seat belt first cuz like you have really tight Like I'm I'm going to cooperate no matter what cuz I I don't >> I shouldn't have a warrant. >> You stand up. Just turn and face. No, you're not going to It's not going to be in the front. >> I'm just trying to fix the seat belt. >> Yep. Let me loosen this up for you, Chris, a little bit. Well, actually it's They're already pretty loose, man. >> This is hurting so bad. >> Probably cuz it's too loose. >> Bravo 110 or 112. >> That's all I'm saying. >> Okay. Yeah, the more you start like tugging on it and stuff, it's going to be uncomfortable. >> So, what is this warrant for? >> Something with Milwaukee County. >> it's It's with the county thing, but >> Okay. That sounds like Milwaukee County. >> I'm telling my lawyer to cave. I'm my lawyer. >> Then we'll find out. But this this really has nothing to do with us. >> cuz they let me go. >> Okay. >> That's all I got. >> Milwaukee Sheriff said no. So, we're going to see what Milwaukee Sheriff says, but we're going to get you out of the school setting right now. >> So, where am I Where am I going right now? >> Muskego Muskego Police Department. >> We can give Mom a call and let her know where we're going. Okay? What did I do? >> You have a warrant. >> I shouldn't have >> It doesn't matter to us. The fact is that you have an active warrant for your arrest. >> At the station, the situation only seemed to get worse. Christopher tried to handle it, but the circumstances were stacked strongly against him. >> This was just entered last week. >> This is ridiculous. This is so bad. They didn't even tell me. >> I got October 23rd, defendant Chris Garrett Rios not in court. Prosecutor >> When was the When was the court date? >> One week ago. 10/23. >> I wasn't told that. >> Cuz I didn't failing to appear >> You said 10 10/23? >> October 23rd, defendant to appear, court ordered an arrest warrant. >> I just want to know that cuz >> All have to say that I'm calling. >> On arrest, defendant is ordered remanded to a commissioner. >> Can you guys listen to this, too? Sorry, he's really kind of like watching through. >> You're supposed to appear on 10/21, I think. >> Tim, this is Christopher Reyes calling. >> Hi. >> Hi. I'm in handcuffs right now. I thought you guys said you would take care of the warrant for my arrest. >> Warrant? I thought you didn't have a warrant today. >> Remember cuz I thought you were talking about what happened in Waukesha? Well, in Wau- in Waukesha about me being arrested and having a warrant. >> Yeah, but the ticket is kind of ahead. >> So, I got handcuffed today because of that same thing. And I got handcuffed because I failed to be at a trial that I was supposed to be at, but nobody told me to be at a trial. Cuz you want to talk Do you want to talk to them? >> Hi, who am I talking to? >> I'm the assistant at Upton Powers. >> Hey, uh Jeff Sartorius Muskego, please. So, um ultimately, we got called over to Lane Elementary, or excuse me, yeah, Bay Lane Elementary. Um Chris showed up for work uh intoxicated. So, we made contact with uh him. Our school resource officer was there, myself, uh one of our sergeants. Um, and we were just going to get him a ride home for mom, but then when we ran his driver's license information, found out that he had a body only warrant from Milwaukee County. Looks like he missed a court date last week Tuesday, so they issued that warrant. Um, so that we took him into custody for that, brought him back to our police department. We're going through the booking process right now, and then we're going to get in contact with the county and uh, hopefully transfer him over there. >> Okay, so this is your something from Milwaukee? >> Yeah, it looks like they issued the warrant after he didn't show up for court last week. And I think it believe I believe it has to do with his third offense OWI. >> So we're investigating what's called bail jumping. You're not allowed to drink. >> But the last judge, when you saw them, said you cannot drink any more alcohol. >> And you can't drive. >> And you can't drive. So those are the conditions of your bail. >> Okay, so >> When you violate them, that's bail jumping. So now we want to get an official reading >> jumping? From the second to the third. >> Just Just hold hold on a second. Just hold on a second. Those are the conditions of your bail. So now we want to know exactly what your BAC, your blood alcohol content is, through this breath test, cuz the first one was preliminary. It's not an official test. This would be an official test. And that lets us know where your BAC or your blood alcohol content is at. So and that's why we're asking your permission. Are you willing to submit to that test? >> Yeah, so but but but why is it If it was already bail jumping before, it can't be bail jumping. >> So you're out on bail for a Kenosha County case on February 12th. >> cuz I already got the bail jumping from Kenosha to Cut A. >> Okay. >> So all actually it was I think cuz it got transferred from Cut A to Milwaukee. So I think it was Kenosha to Cut A. But I don't >> February 12th >> February 5th. >> Yes. February 12th of 2015, it said that uh I believe it's William Michael told you that you cannot possess or consume alcohol. You're not to possess or consume controlled substances without a prescription, no paraphernalia, and you're not to drive without a valid driver's license. You do have a valid driver's >> When Kristoff's mom called and they began to [music] talk, that was when he realized the gravity of what he had done. But unfortunately, it was too little, too [music] late. >> So, I'm pretty much reliable and I'm pretty much reliable for what I'm trying to charge me with. And I'm hoping that it doesn't happen, but I I know that I'll be out. Yeah, which would also make me not be able eligible to be a teacher ever again. I can't even read cuz you're What? >> So, did they make you do breathalyzer at school? >> Yeah. He also told He also told me I was going to be like free for you to pick me up and then they found out that there was a warrant, but I didn't even know there was a warrant at all. >> What did you blow when you did the breathalyzer? >> I blew because I was If I didn't blow, I was going to get arrested anyway. >> And what did you blow and what did it say? >> It was fresh. I didn't sleep all night, so it was from the night before. >> What did the officer say? >> Like point like three. >> So, did you have to blow at school? >> I blew at school. The thing is I'm not sure what he did. You're going to lose your field trip. >> I know I think that's why we talked to you. >> I think you're a fraud artist. >> It's not your guy. >> I'm just curious how >> You're going to lose your teaching license. >> If I do it If I do it, submit >> You're going to You're going to lose everything. >> You're going to lose your artist. I didn't I didn't I didn't do it I'm perfect. >> Oh, either way I just don't want to start the road to recovery. >> Thanks. Yeah, and the next person that calls is Ashley. And that's that's the last voice I'm going to hear in a minute. Thank you. I didn't Okay, then it I Mhm. No, well actually I didn't sleep at all. I didn't sleep. Thanks. >> Christopher was informed that they would be seeking a blood sample for an official blood alcohol content test. He was read Wisconsin's implied consent law before being taken to a hospital. In the end, Christopher Riaz was charged with his fourth OWI and felony bail jumping and was given a $10,000 cash bond. If you thought Christopher was wild, then you should meet Christina Michelle McConnell, a teacher who arrived at school drunk and left with neither her dignity nor her career. >> Can you please not put cuffs on me? I won't run with you. >> No, ma'am. It's >> Please just there's no need to resist. I know you're pro-cop. >> Now relax your arms. Now relax your arms. >> Please just be Um >> I'm going to walk right behind you. Nobody's going to >> Please don't. >> Is it in You got it in your pocket? >> Ma'am, I need I need you to understand that you are under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. >> On September the 8th, 2023, the Charles Town Police Department was dispatched to Washington High School in relation to a teacher who looked wasted after arriving at work. Upon arrival, the officers met with Christina who had an intent to deceive, but every gesture she made gave the truth away. >> You started chewing your mouth. >> I never had gum. >> Okay. I saw you I saw you were chewing. >> I was eating my lunch cuz I came from one school to the other. >> Okay. So, I got called up here for obvious reasons. >> I don't I don't get that though. >> I'll go ahead and explain it to you. >> Please do. I mean, my dad's a retired cop. >> So, basically in a nutshell, you came in and this lady >> told to do one thing and the other system told me to do the other and so I was going to fast. I just got kicked in the ribs. >> Totally understand. No, no, nonetheless, we received a report after Miss Marcus came up there and talked to you. >> Yes. >> It was believed that you were displaying some actions that would be consistent with somebody that's been under the influence of something. >> Okay. >> Um with that being said, obviously they called me or I work here. He literally was parked out. I saw that outside. Thought maybe that there could be some potential for consumption of alcoholic beverages. So, he brought that to me just in case I needed it. >> So, >> So, they >> My son's in this school. >> They thought it best that you leave. >> I'm leaving. >> And that's the the >> That's on That's on >> who ordered this test. >> I want to know that actually right now for my ribs so they get documented. >> We ain't got nothing to do with that. >> Okay. >> We want to make sure that you're okay. >> I'm okay. >> And and I'm going to be I'm going to be completely honest with you. >> Okay. >> Okay. Now that we're out here, >> Please go to my car. >> No, we're going to stay right here for a minute. Now that This This is This is Here, nobody This is the office and your son's not going to be So, now that we're outside, I mean, I'm not going to lie to you. Smell of alcohol coming off of you. Okay? I'm not going to lie to you. >> Okay. >> Okay. We're not going to beat around the bush. >> Okay. >> Um so, we're going to we're going to run you through a couple tests to make sure that you're okay to drive. And if you're okay to drive, then the school will deal with what happened today internally. >> I think that's fine. >> That'll be the end of it. >> I That's >> Um >> This I I can't May I say something to you, sir? >> Yes, go ahead. >> I would greatly appreciate if you keep it nice long. >> I I have never I'm going to try to to do that. >> I just want to know. >> As easy as I can. >> But I'm shaking so can you give me a minute? >> Shaking The shaking won't >> No, that upset me because I came in knowing I was hurt. I'm not I know you're used to bull excuses. >> But this Let me Let me just interrupt you right there and I'll be as polite as I possibly can. Okay? >> Let's just do it then. >> I understand that you're injured. >> No, it's not about that. It's about that that >> Showing up to the school after drinking is two totally different things. >> No, sorry. I can't >> mean. That's what I mean. >> I'm allergic to bees, too, by the way. >> Okay. So, let me ask you this. >> That's what I have. I have an EpiPen, a cell phone, two diatones, and paperwork. >> Okay. Focus for me, okay? Let me ask you this. When was the last time you drank? >> Probably last night when I got off work. >> And what time was that? Were you working here? >> No. >> Okay. >> I didn't work here. >> How long do you think last night you drank? >> Not enough to go to the swim rough, right? >> It's It's >> I got up at 5:00 this morning. I didn't drink at 5:00 a.m. this morning. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Stand over here in the shade. Take sunglasses off. >> I don't really want to stand in front of that glass. >> The The hallways are clear. I can see down through there. >> I don't I >> You You don't have a choice. I'm telling you stand right here. I'm trying to be as easy about this as possible. Now, take sunglasses off your head and take a step away from the wall. >> I've been flying. This is not really fair, but okay. >> That don't have any impact on this. Okay? >> Can you move me to the shade? >> Stop. >> An officer carried out a field sobriety test on Christina and she flopped completely. Following protocol, a breathalyzer test was also conducted and she was almost four times the legal limit to drive. That was the moment the officers made a move that marked her doom for good. >> Can you turn around for me? >> No, well, can I see myself? >> Put it in your bag. >> Yeah. Well, I don't have my breathalyzer cuz I'm way over the limit. >> All right. Put >> the bag down. I'll get the bag. Put the bag down. Yes, ma'am. I'm not going to leave it. >> Okay. Yes, please. Yeah, please. Can you please not put cuffs on me? I'll walk with you. >> No, ma'am. It's just >> Please. There's There's no reason. Please. I know your protocol. >> Listen. >> Please, I'll walk with you. >> He's going to walk behind you, so nobody sees them. We're making this discreet as possible. Okay, turn around for me. Turn around for me. >> No, you don't have to do that. >> have to do that. >> Here we have to >> Come here. >> Okay. >> Don't walk away, please. Don't you run. >> I won't. >> Now, relax your arms. Now, relax your arms. >> Please, just be um >> Don't worry about your hands. Nobody's going to >> Please, do. >> Is it in You got it in your pocket? >> What? >> I don't want you to drop it. >> No, I got it. Thank you. Well, I'm pregnant. What do you expect? >> Okay, come over to this car for me. >> What? Excuse >> All right, he's He's right behind you. He's right behind you. And we're going to go right onto this side of the car. >> Okay. Which side? This side? >> This side right here. >> No, he's not coming. >> You're You're between us. That's not where you want to be. >> I don't want to >> There you go. We >> All right, so how does this go now? Even though >> I'll explain here just 1 second, all right? >> Can you help me? I'm short. >> Can you explain to me where your car parked at? >> It's in the visitor's spot. >> What kind of Okay, right here. >> Ford Escape. >> Got it. All right, now flip your legs around. >> No. May I have the bag? >> I We're going to take it. I'm just going to put it up front with me. Watch your feet. >> Um >> On the way, Jefferson. I'm getting ready, too. >> I'm on the way. >> I'm on the way. >> Can you start me an intox driver at Washington High School? I'll be 10-15 with one female breath. >> Great. Perfect. Sir! >> When you open it, just put .200 in the notes. I've been out here for about 20 minutes now. You just going to run the tag and attach it? Oh, is that it? >> My bag. Sir! Okay. I can't get it. That's hard. Sir. I'm going to tell at school. That's right. >> I'd imagine she's probably up closer to a 3. I didn't want to arrest her, but that high, nah. Heavy time. Okay. All right. Appreciate it. See if she got the >> Where is Kate? Sir. Sir. >> Yeah, that's all right. Ma'am, two questions. >> Yes, can you please do me a favor? Can you release me? >> They're going to be taken off of you here in a minute. Um, do you have the key? >> I do, but the problem is I have to be home for my kids. What is the process of all this? >> Listen, I'll When when we get back to the office, I'll explain everything you need to know. >> Yes, I have the keys in my >> In the bag or pocket? >> Or in my denim pocket. You haven't had anything to drink since they've encountered you. >> Can you please take these off? >> They're going to be taken off as soon as we get back to the office. As soon as you get your key, we're leaving. >> What is the deal because I I be home at 3:00 to get my kids. Be honest with me. >> totally >> up to the judge. >> I have to go in front of a judge today? >> Yes, ma'am. >> I don't have time for that. It's 1:30. >> Watch your While en route to the station, Christina began to make silly demands, unaware that [music] even more damning evidence was about to come to light. >> Yep. >> Yes, sir. Officer Newman. >> Newland. >> Newland. Sorry. I would really appreciate it if you could speed the process. I know you're doing your job. I'm not trying to be rude. >> Good evening. >> a single mom that has to be home for my kids. >> know who's slowing the process? >> Me. Yes. We're leaving right now. We're leaving right now. >> I'm sorry. Thank you. What are you doing with my car? >> We'll explain that when we get back. Um we'll be at my office in 4 minutes. >> Thank you. >> What I got? >> 108. >> Once you get that back, you're forward me everything with a triple I. 10-15 route to the office through from dispatch. >> Good. >> 5645. Front parking lot in the visitor's area. 107's going to be out with it. >> Okay. You have to understand where I'm coming from, sir. I'm sorry. >> Ma'am, I've never never not once not understood where you're coming from. >> you and I'm trying to be patient and you're being very patient with me and I appreciate it. I would be grateful for you getting me out as fast as you can. >> Um I'll pull my vehicle inventory. It appears that there is a freshly poured um mixed drink in a Yeti cup in the center. >> Okay. >> I got a photo of it. You want to see it? >> Just text me a picture of that. >> It smells of alcohol. >> Okay. I appreciate it. >> Yep, we're good. >> Thanks, bud. >> When we get there, may I have my drink? Now that I >> one more test to Is it in your bag? >> Yes, sir. >> I have one more test to do on you and >> Why?
