On September 8th, 2024, officers were dispatched to ShopRite on a report of a shoplifting. Here is what occurred. I was with my girlfriend. Okay, where? All right, first street. Where at? First street. What section is it? Got any ID on you? No. All right, go outside the store with me real quick. No. Okay. I'm with him. Where's your girlfriend at? Yeah, we'll go outside and talk. I'm like What? I was I was just leaving ShopRite. Okay. Who you got on the Who you got on the phone? Oh. Okay. I was just leaving when I got here. I know. I was just leaving when Okay. Okay. Well, I wish you know Well, I was pretty much finished up. Okay. So, I I literally went outside I was going to grab the flowers and come right back and just to flip right around the front thing and a lady came out and she questioned me and I said, "Listen, I says, 'I'm just going in to pay for the flowers. That's it.' And she saw it she's like blocking me out cuz I don't need no trouble. Okay. I'm I'm like, you know what I'm saying? So, you went you went there you were going to buy flowers for your girlfriend? I I I went I went shopping. I bought a whole cart full of stuff. Okay. All right. And All right. So, I have you have you have I like your credit card on you or anything? Yes, I have I have ID on me. Well, where is it? I have it in my pocket. You just told me you didn't have it. I I apologize cuz I'm like I'm bugging out. Well, let me see this. I'm like They she thought that I was going to like walk off with it or something like that. And that wasn't the case. So, I I I got I'll be I'll be honest with you. I got I got freaked out and I ran. All right. Let me see the ID card. change Okay. I didn't get change. This is my this is my old address. Uh you have anything else on you? Oh, like what? Anything anything that's going to hurt us? Anything like that? Oh, the only thing I have is my work knife. All right. Just just don't reach for it. Okay. I'm slow. No no problem. Um who else is working here? I'm going to stay. What's uh He's on that detail, though. I literally I was about Hold it in my thing. So, I was about to spin around. This is how I was about to spin around and come back in. She like See if shop right LP will come over to us by spirit. I'm like, "Listen, I'm Just to get positive identification and a Did you drive here? Uh, my girlfriend drove me. Your girlfriend? Where's your girl at? Uh, well, I kind of left the store because I didn't want no problem. It's because they were accusing me of stealing, so I was like, "You know what? I'm out of here." And I left. So, why wouldn't you just Why wouldn't you just get in the car and leave then? No, she was She was finishing up shopping. We were doing separate shopping. We do do our own shopping and I do my shopping. I had my whole I was just getting ready to pay. You lied. And I I asked I asked I asked her my sister, "Please, can I pay? Please?" I'm like, "I have no intention of stealing. I I have plenty of money." If I had no intention of doing that, I don't think I'm walking out and leaving and running over here. No, no, no, no. No, because she came up to me and she accused me. She accused me. And then you see cops circling and and you beeline right for Spirits. Cuz I'm I'm afraid. Well, if you're not doing something wrong, what do you got to worry about? was I was in prison once before and I I never want to go back there ever again. What were you in for? What were you in for? I was in for uh uh I don't I I got some I told her, I said, "Listen, please, just let me pay." I'm like, "My girl's right here." I'm like, "Let me just pay." And uh she's like, "We're going to have to go bring you to the office." I'm like, "I was just turning around right there." I'm like, "Why didn't you wait for me to go into the street or something? Just so you could have seen for yourself if I was stealing. If I was stealing, I wouldn't have went in the street." I didn't leave the concrete. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. How do you just say I'm stealing? I didn't leave the concrete. You're running around the place. comes over here. Okay? Is Is she going to say this is the guy that's This is him? And I'm going to have to be under arrest? Is that what's going to happen? What What do you mean, "Is this the guy what?" Are you the one that's was shoplifting over there? That's what I'm asking. I wasn't shoplifting. Okay. All I did was I was about to turn around and just walk right in to go pay. And And she just before I didn't even go near the street. Okay. I didn't go near the street. All right. I was just All right. I told you got to grab the flowers to pay for them. I don't know if you pay for them after or something like that. I don't know. But you told me you had a shopping cart full of stuff. The flowers are in the beginning. No, I was with my girl. We were shopping and she says, "I want those flowers." So, I says, "Let me grab them before we leave." Got you. All right. Yeah, they're on their way over, and we'll uh we'll see what happens, all right? I appreciate the cooperation, though. No problem. I'm I'm being 100% honest with you. What's the address? What is it? Okay. 100 negative 77 All right, sir. Um so, that was loss prevention they're saying that you know they're going to be pressing charges. Why would they press charges against me? I never left the car. Right now if you could just give me the stuff that's in your hand. But I never left the car. Just give me the stuff sir. She's just being She's being mean to me. She's being mean to me and talking to me. Thank you sir. Being mean to me and talking to me. I can't believe she's doing this to me. People are just doing this to me. Turn around please. Okay. You want me to run this? Uh I'm going to do that cuz I got I hit my alarm clock earlier I got to check out. If you don't mind bring them in. I'm going to do two cuffs all right? Just relax relax relax. Yeah nice and easy for you. All right. What else you got on you? Uh Cigarettes? And just my work ID. You got anything that's going to poke me in the side? No no the work ID I said. Pack of smokes? Yeah pack of smokes. My girl is going to be like what the Well I have a 41. She's probably going to call me right now. I want to pick up the talk sir you want me to talk to her? Is she still in anything? No she's out. Where she at? How do you get this thing off? I just pull the flap up. How do you get this thing off your belt? Oh I just pull it. It's a little tight. Come on man. What is he getting? It's a phone. It's like the school school day. Yeah yes yes. No. All right, follow this handsome officer over there. As much as that They're really going to have me arrested for this? Yeah, unfortunately. Please don't I'll tell you what, cuz she's a very honest lady, she said that if you if you just stayed there with her, but she was she was telling the no but she was telling me she was going to cause problems with me. No, she said she said she was going to just process you in-house, which would have been nothing criminal. She would have let you go on your merry way. She would have banned you from the store. Maybe Cuz you guys give me a lot of Can you give me a little bit It's not on us. They're they're the ones Can you give me one chance, please? All right, you got to get in, bud. Come on. I'm cooperative. It's going to be a short ride, I promise. Two-minute ride. I'm freaking out. I can pop the window for you. Thank you, good sir.
