Days earlier, he'd posted a photo online of what looked like a real gun. When his mother confronted him about it, he denied it was his, but she recognized his hand in the photo from a tattoo. Before police arrived, he swallowed a large number of pills from her medicine cabinet, then called 911 himself and told him he had a gun. A family friend was called to the apartment to try to calm him down, but it didn't work. By the time officers arrived, the situation inside that apartment had already gone past the point of talking it down. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, a felony, along with assault against a household member, resisting arrest, and criminal damage to property. He was booked into Doña Ana County Detention Center and held without bond. No conviction or sentencing information has been made publicly available at this time.
