Uh underneath Underneath the nightstand. Underneath the nightstand? >> The bag is already in police hands, [music] and her first reaction is not confusion about the call. It is a denial. I don't even know what that is. Well, I don't either. Well, I don't know what even know what it has happening. I know that my kid went in the bathroom and has been in there for an [clears throat] hour, and I've been like, "What's wrong?" We're having a popsicle, playing Fortnite, and >> Right. Um And there was nobody else home. Nobody else is here. So, all this stuff in this house is yours? >> This is all my stuff. So, everything in the house is yours? Well, this is my house. >> Okay. Only people that I know that have come to the house are I just need to try to figure out what's going on. Some of his friends and actually a thug. Okay. Do you think somebody might have dropped something off or it was somebody else's that they accidentally left here? I think he actually dropped they dropped something off on an accident. >> Okay. Facetiming him saying that he found what appears to be drugs in the house and he was really concerned and scared. >> do drugs. Okay. No, no, so I don't >> You don't have to do drugs to have drugs in the house. >> look at that. I don't even know what that is, you guys. I don't know where it came from. I don't know what what is happening right now, you guys. I don't I don't I mean, yeah, I mean, 100%. Like I said, why we're here, Tony was What's his name again? Facetiming Tony, he was concerned, he was scared. He said, "I found this in the house. I think it's drugs." So, Tony calls us to come and check on it. Your kid. Okay, well, I don't even know what this is or where he found it. I don't either. You think they dropped some off on accident? >> No, not on accident, on purpose. Every answer points somewhere else. None of it explains how the bag ended up under her nightstand. >> Okay. So, how long have you guys lived in the house here? Uh about 2 years. About 2 years. Who lives in the house here with you? Just me and my mom. >> So, it's you and your and your and your real mom, your biological mom? Okay. And you and your mom are the only two people that are here right now? >> Yes. Okay. Got you. And any idea who do you think left the stuff here? Uh her friend, which his nickname is Joe, but his real name is Alfonso. Okay. And is Alfonso kind of a mean guy or is he pretty nice or Uh I don't see him too much, but just one of those people where you look at him and you know it and he's he's always [music] that's weird around me. Okay. Don't put him in the thing cuz Has he ever threatened you or hurt or anything like that? No. He just acts kind of weird. And is he just a friend of your mom or are they They're friends. Okay. The boy gives officers a name, but he does not say he saw that person leave anything. Well, here's what we're afraid of since you don't know what it is. I don't know what it is. God forbid it is any type of drugs. What we want to do there's there's a lot of those out there we don't know what that is. That that long stuff. So, we want to be very very careful. That's why I'm wearing the gloves on. Okay. So, I don't want you handling or anything like that. Our partner's coming up. That That's over here. I'm not saying it is. I'm just saying as a police officer. >> Yeah, it's okay. He's got over 20 years. I've got about 18 years. We just want to make sure that everyone is safe, okay? Before we touch it and start messing around with anything we need to test and see what it is. I'm going to talk to That's That's where we're at. Okay. They know what it is. They're just not saying it yet. Oh. Scared tonight? Yeah. I hear you, partner. So, this is your mom, right? And your dad is Your dad, his name is I'm sorry. It's Tony. Yes. All right. Tony, you were FaceTiming Tony. Yes. And what were you Why were you FaceTiming him? It's okay. Just take your time. You're not in any trouble, so >> Yeah, you're not in any trouble. We're here. We're just talking. It's okay, man. So, you got scared tonight. You You You called your dad. And you found this stuff, right? Where did you find it at? It was an accident. On accident? Yeah. Where Where Where was it at? It was an accident. What's that? It was an accident. Under her nightstand. So, that would be in the bedroom that she sleeps in? >> Yeah. And how did you recognize that? Like what did you think when you saw it? I saw it cuz I was curious. Pulled it out and then I was really really nervous. From like TV and stuff? What? Like you thought like maybe it was >> [music] >> from like TV and stuff? >> Yeah. Right. Right. And you got scared and you called your dad. Yeah. Recognizing it from TV was enough for him to stay quiet and call someone else first. What did he say? Call the police? Yeah. Yeah. Well, you did the right thing. I know you don't want to get anybody in trouble. And we're here to make sure everybody's safe and that you're safe, and your mom's safe, and uh yeah, I guess your dad, he's going to come here and check on you, okay? Did you know that? Okay. Did he actually hand a bag off to somebody? Yeah, it was his backpack. What does it look like? Yeah. I mean, he had had it in the house before. Okay. I don't know where it is now, but I know he had it in the house before. Okay. A couple years ago. Yeah, as you know, now marijuana is legal, you can't have it in your house. Yeah. Um but the other stuff that that we might be talking about, that might not be that might not stuff. So, you definitely did the right thing. Did you say anything to your mom when you saw when you saw it? No. Okay. You just grabbed the bag. Did you grab the bag uh out of I made up a cover up story to I got my phone. Just in case and you know, just in case. Mhm. I told him I seen my cousin. Okay, and your cousin said you better get a hold of your parents then? She was just trying to explain. So, we come down. Y'all know we'd even want to start digging in that just in case narcotics wants to come out. I told him to cover up story to get my phone and then went to the bathroom for like 30 minutes. Uh-huh. I was just trying to relax. Talking to guys on the called my dad and then Uh-huh. And then your dad said that they're going to call the police just to hang out inside there. And you don't have your own phone or phone number or anything like that, right? >> other phone is home. When your when your mom saw you with that bag No. She never saw you holding it? No, what I did was so I put it in my backpack and then I ran downstairs and made up a cover up story got my phone went to the bathroom locked the door pulled out of my backpack put it against the wall. So, it looked crystalline and powdery. Yeah, it looked crystalline and powdery. Yeah, there's a spoon in there. I mean, you could presumably weigh it and then kind of we're going to kind of figure out what the spoon weighs, but This amount, I mean, it's not illegal to have it in your possession, but it's not It may be worth an narc call. Yeah. Let me send a picture to the flattering or however you want to do it. He did not run to his mother. He was 9 years old and he did not make a single mistake. Remember when I'm panicking so much I'm twisting the lock the wrong way and she comes in and breaks open the lock and picks my kind of bakery eating and then I I don't remember it that much but I think he did it a couple times. Okay. And this was your mom that did this? Yes. Most of You remember that and then Does she have full custody of you or does she share custody with your dad? >> When was the last time that she yelled at you or was physical with you? Probably yesterday. Is that something that happens It's pretty often. So it happens quite often? Yeah. Have you ever told anybody about that? Yeah. And that's going on because he was in the war. One of the things that you said is that my dad's quote unquote brainwashing me which I never really understood. Okay. I just feel like it makes sense now. Does your dad ever say anything to to Yeah, does he say anything to you like, you know, you need to say this about your mom? No, no, no. He never does that? He's just like, "Who did she do wrong to? I don't really want to get involved in this." He's really just He's always just had that kind of attitude. I mean yeah, but he'll give me advice but not like Hey, go do like not like, "Hey, go do this to your mom." No, Mhm. he doesn't do that. Mhm. Do you Does he ever say that he wants full custody of you? Does he ever tell you that? Uh he would say that he could, you know, just cuz >> [snorts] >> He was married to my mom a couple for a couple years. I don't even know how. I was about 3 years old. Mhm. And then from then on they they shared the custody. Mhm. It took me a couple years to know for my dad to tell me why. He said several times I just didn't believe him. And I never bought it though. I never bought it. Your dad said he's going to put you up to your mom. Have you told your dad that? Yes. What did your dad say when you told He's kind of getting mad of how she's like doing stuff like this. Uh-huh. Have you told your dad about the other stuff that she's done the the use back in the day? Yeah. And what was his reaction? What did he say? Mad and then he was kind of like concerned Uh-huh. That was a sad feeling. Okay. Have you ever talked to police officers about this stuff that's happened? Not really everything. You have had a police officers out to your house before though? >> Um yes. Just because I didn't want to go to my mom's. Mhm. They didn't want to go there then the other one was called you know ya-ya-ya-ya-ya I just told them I don't I don't want to go over there. That's really it and then you know I eventually I eventually just like I I don't care what you say. I'm going to stay at my dad's and Yeah, but then like the next day I told my dad what happened and then I'll go back to my mom's. It's happened like once or twice before. The drugs got officers to the door. What the boy told them after that was a different story entirely. Were they the police officers you talked to were they this house or were they over at your dad's house? >> Uh they were over at my dad's old house. Hey I'm Officer Lieutenant Simpson. Please how you doing? Hey I'm at a house. We're going to charge this lady with child Basically found probably about an ounce of hated it and gave it to us. Um but my question is if I give you an address is there any way to see if you guys have any open cases already here? Oh wow. Well the person who called is actually going to be on Um the situation is this. He finds what appears to be crack cocaine He then FaceTimes his dad and shows it to his dad and then his dad instructs him to call the police. So then actual the [music] the calls us and locks himself in the bathroom with the uh with the the with the pencil. So, we get here. It's literally I knock on the door within like 2 seconds the door opens. Standing there his mom's behind us and he just hands me this uh what probably is going to be I'm going to say maybe I don't know. So, that's a good So, talked to the mom. She's [music] you know, I don't know where that came from blah blah blah, you know. She says his nightstand. And he he recognized it to be from you know, stuff on TV. Yeah, we're going to take a report. What I can do is I'll just I'll just CC you guys in the report. I'm sure we're going to take mom into custody. So, dad's going to come dad's going to come get the kids. There's no reason for you guys come out unless you [music] want to. And you don't want to come over here cuz you think she's mean to you and she she pushes you and that kind of stuff sometimes. >> really get to me anymore. Okay. Sorry. That call was not an update. It was a handoff. No, you're good. We're talking to everybody. So, I don't know if Officer Thompson explained to you. I'm going to be the investigator. I'm the one who called this in. So, I've been talking to I've been talking to Tony and I briefly spoke with you. Kind of explain to me the situation of what's going on. Explain what happened What happened tonight? >> Yeah. Um I don't really know. Um we're in the middle of a normal night and then he grabbed he asked for my phone. Went to the restroom. Um asked to play a video and locked [music] the door behind him and is in there for a long time. And you know, I hear um Tony's voice on the phone and I'm like are you coming out and I'm jiggling the doorknob. This goes on for quite a while. Yeah. Um and So, you didn't know what he had or what what what he was doing. >> know. I don't know anything about anything until this [music] you knocked on the door. Right, right. But you came you guys came down to the door together cuz you guys were right next to each other. No, no. He was I heard [music] the knock at the door and then um I heard the bathroom door open. I've been sitting here on the stairs like, "Are you coming out? Are you coming Right. I'm like, "Are we going to [music] sleep on the floor?" I'm like playing a game with him kind of, but I'm like what I don't So then he comes running out. I heard the you guys at the door and we were >> [music] >> right there together. So you didn't see that he had that in his hand. No, I don't even know what this is. I don't know what anything about it was happening. Um so what we're going to do obviously we're going to test it and make sure uh that discover what it is. >> Okay. I mean to me it looks probably like you know What is that? You know what? Like whatever it like I mean that's Come on. Everybody knows what that is. You watched Breaking Bad. I mean Jesus. >> I have never seen Breaking Bad. Well you should. But let's just be really honest. Okay, so it's not good that this stuff was in the house with wherever it was and whatever it is. Let's say it's It's terrible that confine that and have access to it. And and no is to call the police and and have us come out here and check on you and him. To be honest yeah, you're in some trouble. You know, you're in some trouble. I'm in trouble? Yeah, you're in some trouble. Um and honestly I'm in trouble? Well yeah, I mean from our point of view the door opens and and hands me what could be a couple ounces of It's like what I don't understand. that came from your house. I'm freaking out right now. 100%. So everything we do and everything that we say is always recorded. We have [music] body cams on right now. It's recording you crying and I'm not crying. I know, but you're startled, upset. And I I don't believe that you don't know what it is. He he claims he found it under your nightstand. I I guess you were having him look for a wallet or something earlier. >> [music] >> And then he happened to stop while he was looking for something for you. Now >> I have never in my life I don't even know I don't >> Okay. That is the first time anyone has said they do not believe her. Now Kendra, I talked to before I talked to you. I guess they they they talked to you back in December. Yeah. >> And there there's been three cases. >> Yes, there's been a We're talking like normal people. And the case back then that they investigated, that was unsubstantiated, was possible use that they were investigating. Um This is all pertaining to my child and my ex-husband. >> I understand that. And I understand but those are those are just the allegations that was that was that was weighed against you back in December was All of these allegations >> Right. This this this this. So, my thing with you is honesty's not going to get you out of some of the tra- trouble that you're in tonight. However, if you wanted to start being realistic with us and be like, "Okay, this is what we're doing. This is what it is. I want to get some help and I want you guys to help me." Maybe Hold on, Kendra. Maybe there's some avenues [music] we can work with you to assist you a little bit on mitigating the the circumstances that you're into tonight. >> What about What do you mean by help? Like I don't understand what you're talking about here. >> if what we have in your house is it's a pretty large amount I don't know what you're I like honestly I've been sitting here talking to the other one this whole time and >> Right. I don't [music] have any idea what this is. Okay. But this is your house. This is my house. >> Right. That's your cup right there, right? >> my everything. >> Right. Right. So, the legal standard usually is this is your house. Everything in the house that you have possession over. And if we get something that you can technically be responsible for. >> If this is who this is this is who whatever this is not mine and I'm I I don't know what else to tell you. >> So, would you be willing to take a uh I'm not willing to do anything. I I don't lawyer. >> asking you. So, you wouldn't be willing to do test tonight? No, nothing here. >> For any of like I'm not willing to do anything right now because my ex-husband put so many >> But, if you're clean, it's going to help your case, though. >> I don't I don't know if I have a case. Well, for us. Because you're saying that you don't know what this is. >> about What is it Is it a case of Like, let's say because you gave us what appears to be a large amount It is, though. And then let's say you you assisted us and you took a a you were completely clean, then you could say, "Well, maybe this was planted or stashed in my house cuz I don't do You can tell by my that I'm completely clean. I have an ex-husband that we just got through a whole trial and I'm not >> This was civil trial for custody? Um yeah, family court. >> Right, right, right. Not criminal trials. This is all civil stuff. >> There's nothing criminal with it. Right. I'm just making sure it wasn't something criminal. Have you ever been arrested before? Uh-huh, sometimes in my life. How long ago was it? A long time ago, years and years ago. >> What was it What was it for? Um my ex-husband and I were divorced. Like a domestic type thing? So, It's embarrassing that this happened. With this whole situation, let's just beat around the bush. You don't want to take any admission of the stuff that your child gave us. >> I don't You're You're not taking responsibility for it. Oh, no. I don't even know if that's What is it Is it drugs or something? Well, we're going to test it when the supervisor gets here to confirm what it is. >> I'm still really sick right now that my child had that in his hands, first of all, if that's what that is. Second of all, what I'm saying is how could it have gotten in my house? Right. I'm thinking who or what right now. I'm thinking all kinds of things. Right. Um I I'm not ready to have a panic attack. Well, do you want to sit down? Do you want to get a glass of water? >> water. Um I just don't understand. Um I I'm trying to think who was in my house. Yeah. And I And for the record, you're not willing to do any kind of urine urine test or anything for >> know what's happening right now. I don't know what is No, I don't want to do anything right now. No, I was just not you know, just throwing it out there. You know, just uh I don't I don't I just want to know what's happening right now. All right. No, it's all Like I said, it's we're not saying you're a bad person. We're just trying to get to the bottom of everything. Three prior [music] cases, none of them stuck. This time, there was no one left to blame. I'm trying to kind of get to a little bit like, "Hey, yeah, you're going to get charged, but maybe cuz that's a pretty damn good amount, you know, like that's like top five in my history of career of drugs." So, I guess you wanted to work. Yeah. So, no narcs coming out or anything? Yeah, the MB's coming out first to look at. Okay. So, the sergeant sergeant John here. Okay. Yeah, he's going to bring a test kit. The test kit is still on its way. No. The other thing is um once you get to the jail, they're going to search you really well. Oh. So, do you have anything on you that you're not going to want them to find? I don't have anything >> I'm just letting you know, they're going to Okay. I don't know what's going on with this whole thing. Um what about like my girl stuff? My hand phone? Can you get that for her? What do you want me to do with my hand phone? I'll personally hand you a hand phone. So, they're not going to find anything in your underwear, your bra, nothing like that when you get to the jail. No, no, no. A female will do it when you get to the jail. All right. So, let's see. Put your hands behind your back. Are you praying? Do you ever pray? There you go. No, um Jeez. Like we just got out of the academy. I could throw up. Can I lock it? Yep. Does cuffs feel okay? Um no. All right, do me a favor, take two steps forward. Two steps forward, bigger steps. Okay. Can you take a step back? Nope. All right, I'm going to search you once you get to the car. Oh, did I do that wrong or what? >> No, you did fine. It's just there's cameras on the car. And since you're a female, I'm a male, we have to do everything by cameras. I did not not mean it. Like I literally I get it. It's a bad situation. >> right now. I want to just use his This car is mine. We're going to stand in front of those black bumpers. I'm just going to do a quick search. There's a camera video taping everything, so that way it's all professional. Rear passenger back seat. So you can take a big step in. This thing's going to go around you. Watch your head. Oh god, help. First step's going to kill you. If you scoot over a little bit more to your left, hands will fit in better. Did she want to talk I don't know if she wanted to talk about anything? What? Did she want to talk to me at all? She said she wanted to ask me what she wanted to So my sergeant's here. You said you wanted to ask him something. If not, we'll get you going. I just want to double check cuz you had mentioned about uh I'm there's so many things on my mind. I I um I I don't know what's happening. Um this isn't my stuff. Um I'm in shock. Um I don't know if that makes a difference. Okay, well here's the I'm going to give you a quick rundown just so you Kendra Long was charged that night with a felony drug conspiracy and child abuse.
