good afternoon this is Daniel here with cop watch TV just want to welcome everyone into our live show where we're going to discuss and break down some of the most interesting stories in policing from the last couple weeks definitely want to welcome everybody in and really curious to see where you all are watching from looks like we have Valerie from North Dakota we have a tinny Blast from Nevada Sergeant George from California it's good to see everyone uh looks like Sergeant George is planning to move to Florida that's fantastic and Lori's from Texas all right it's good to see everyone if you haven't already please make sure you go ahead and subscribe to the channel and make sure you go ahead and send it to your friends and relatives just so we can get more people in on these live shows one of the best things about this is not just going through the news and really talking about interesting cases but really going back and forth with the audience because there are definitely cases and times where people have a different opinion than me and one of the things I like to do is I'm really interested to see what our audience thinks about these cases and if you want to go ahead and follow me you can go ahead and follow me just about everywhere over at police law news all right so we're going to get right into it so this is a case that I was gonna cover last week but I just didn't get to it there was a little more to it so I really wanted to give it the the full attention that this case deserves so this happened in Circleville Ohio back on July 4th and what happened was is uh there was a Ohio State Police where uh were conducting a traffic stop on a semi truck now the the traffic stop was for something minor it was for a missing mud flap and the driver of that semi truck was it was a young man named jadarius Rose for for some reason jadarius Rose he didn't stop for police officers and he just kept going well in a lot of different states in a lot of different not only is there state law but in a lot of different states there's also police department policy which basically tells police officers hey here's when you can engage in a vehicle Pursuit here's when you can't engage in a vehicle pursued I can tell you that the state that I live in where I've worked as a police officer for 18 years something like an equipment violation a missing mud flap that isn't something that our police department at least at least the police department around me most of them would not be able to get involved in a vehicle pursuit in the for that kind of a thing I'm really curious to see I know I know the answer for some of the people who live in California but I'm really curious to see what some of the other state laws might be if where you live would even allow police officers to you know get into a vehicle Pursuit for this kind of violation either way this was a legal traffic stop Mr Rose decided that he was above the law and he didn't stop now police officers chased him I should note that this isn't like a busy intersection it's not like in Cincinnati or Cleveland or any of those other big cities this is in Circleville Ohio which I have no idea where it is except you can tell by the body camera video that it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere and that even getting involved in a high-speed Pursuit it's not like there were pedestrians or a whole lot of other traffic so you know really a situation like this it probably wasn't unsafe to do so this vehicle Chase with Mr Rose it goes on for quite a while just about 20 minutes what I should say is a few minutes into it Mr Rose actually stops so he stops the the truck on the side of the road he pulls over so it looks like he's going to cooperate but then before he even makes contact with police officers he goes ahead and he drives away and he keeps on going without stopping for police officers like I said this goes on for about 20 minutes during that time he actually calls 9-1-1 he's on the phone with dispatch and he's basically saying hey I'm driving this semi truck and the police officers are trying to stop me but I don't want to stop because I don't want to be heard or injured now here's the thing which I just find is so strange if your goal is to not be hurt or injured by police the best statistical chance that you have especially on something like a traffic stop is to just stop your truck give the police officer all the documents that any normal person would have to give the officer take your ticket take your warning and then go about your day the statistically I mean nothing's a hundred percent okay but statistically that is the best chance that anyone has of getting not harmed by a police officer during an interaction and when I say to statistical best chance probably like there's like a 99.9 chance that if you're stopped for a missing mud flap and you're reasonable with the police officer and you hand them you hand them your driver's license that's a 99.99 chance that again you're going to be fine you're going to get your ticket and you are going to and you're going to uh just be fine going on your way so finally though after about 20 minutes Mr Rhodes he does stop and he does get out of the vehicle now I should say that when he gets out of the vehicle he does cooperate a little bit so you know essentially what police officers wanted him to do was to walk back towards police officers place his hands behind his back get down to his knees so they can go ahead and place him in handcuffs so he did a couple of those things but not all of those things so he did exit the vehicle he walked out towards police officers but he got pretty much halfway in between where the semi truck was and where the police officers were and the police officers wanted him to walk back probably another 20 or 30 feet or so so they didn't have to approach him so they could walk back to where the police officers were but he stopped now he did have his hands in the air so he wasn't reaching for any kind of weapons or anything like that he did have his hands in the air but he wasn't doing exactly what police officers wanted again now you're in a situation where police officers are giving you commands statistically speaking the safest thing you can do is just comply and do what they're asking you to do resisting arrest not doing what they're asking you to do you know arguing at that point the only you're only increasing the odds that something is going to go wrong and that's exactly what happened because if something didn't go wrong you know we wouldn't be talking about it because there are tens of thousands of traffic stops every single day that happen when people do what the police officers ask and they act like decent humans that you know nothing happens so we don't ever talk about it now one of the issues with this is this wasn't just Ohio State Police so in like a lot this not only happens in big cities but it's really common in you know smaller rural areas of the country that when there is a police incident one area one jurisdiction may not have that many officers so it's really common to ask for assistance from other neighboring Police Department so again like I said this started with Ohio State Police or Ohio State Troopers and then one of the officers that helped was a Circleville Ohio police officer so essentially a Small Town police officer a Small Town Police from Circleville were also on scene so as they were as they were giving as the as the the state police officers were giving commands a Circleville police officer which to me this is just crazy Crossfire because yeah you have to imagine this so the the police are on one side Mr Rose is in the middle and then pretty much on the other side of Mr Rose is there's the canine Officer from Circleville which to me and again I never went to swat school I'm not a tactical guy I did Patrol for about 15 years DWI unit in Internal Affairs compliance but I never worked tactical but even me someone who hasn't gone through SWAT school I know that this doesn't make a whole lot of sense what you don't do is you don't have police officers the person that they're interacting with kind of in a line and then someone behind that's Crossfire that makes no sense and and tactically doesn't make any sense as well because if you want there to be a force array essentially multiple different Force options that police officers can use you want that to basically have Central Command you want one individual one supervisor being in control of all that well if you have someone who's standing 50 feet away they're not going to be able to hear exactly especially if you don't have the same radio system you there isn't any way to to hear what's going on to give to give commands in a reasonable manner so what ended up happening was as they were giving him commands the state police officers were giving Mr Rose commands just like they should and you could tell that they were just gonna it seemed like they were just kind of waited out they hadn't shot a 40 millimeter at him they hadn't hit him with a bean bag um they hadn't done they hadn't used any Force they were just giving verbal commands well the canine Officer on the other side was also giving commands again that's a problem in and of itself you won one individual giving commands especially in a situation like this where the person it's like he's armed with a gun and he's waving it around and everyone just yelling and screaming because you know you're in the moment with with a deadly threat I mean this is a situation that was you know semi-controlled and the k n officer on the other side he starts giving canine warnings he starts saying things to the effect of if you don't comply I'm going to release the dog and then eventually he says if you don't comply I'm gonna release the dog this is your final warning now again let's look at this from the from the position of Mr Rose which Mr Rose made all kinds of mistakes and essentially caused this entire thing to happen up to this point but if you look at it from the position of Mr Rose yeah he's not cooperating but he really has two different sets of instructions he's a canine Officer talking to him from one side and state police officers talking him from the other side so if you have a situation like this that's not how we want police officers to manage situations so what ends up happening is is the Canaan officer eventually starts to approach Mr Rose and as he's doing it I captured on body camera video from the Ohio State Police an officer is saying don't release the dog don't release the dog don't release the dog now what ended up happening is um he fixes the cable all right so he he ends up releasing the dog Mr Rose gets just bit to [ __ ] by this land shark because that's what happens when people get bit by canines you know eventually they get the dog off him he has injuries but but there's no way that that level of force was a reasonable level of force it doesn't make it doesn't make make a whole lot of sense um yeah so I mean basically a canine dog is like a it's like a hair missile I mean these things are these things are just just incredible tools for police officers to use but this wasn't the correct situation usually it's a Belgian Malinois or a German Shepherd is what police officers have typically it's about Belgian Malinois at least the last 15 years or so that I've been in that's typically that's typically what I see um for canines um now a lot of people are saying you know watching this you know and again hindsight is 20 20 especially if you don't have any police experience people are saying well you know why did the canine Officer release the dog I mean here we see on body camera video you have the state police saying don't release the dog then he goes and releases it like what the hell is wrong with this guy well I just if you watch the body camera footage I just want to point out that yes we're able to hear that because we're watching it on our phones on our on our on our on our computers on our on our TVs from the comfort safety of our own home most of the time with no other distractions around and we have the benefit of listening to the body camera footage listening to Don't release the dog hearing those hearing those words those orders we have the benefit of hearing it basically the person who's saying it the camera is about two feet away on that person's body the canine Officer there's no way that he hears that there's no way that he hears that and then purposely ignores that he's he's 50 feet away he's 40 feet away so he doesn't hear it and we know that because captured on his body camera video is after it's done he says he's he's confused he's the Canon officer is confused that the other police officers I'm saying are irritated and upset with him he says something to the effect of like he wasn't complying right why is everybody mad at me so this was this was just a tactical mistake this is why you have police officers when there's a force array pretty much all stand together or at least be in radio communication if you're going to be on different sides of something and one of the most important things when it comes to situations like this is that there is no independent action you have one supervisor a lieutenant a sergeant a commander whoever the highest ranking person is on scene and unless there is an immediate deadly threat which there obviously wasn't here at this point with Mr Rose unless there is an immediate deadly threat you do not take independent action without the Unseen supervisor giving give giving an order or an authorization of a use of force so it seems like the Ohio State Police knew this so again why they were okay why they were okay with the Canon officer being on the other side doesn't make a whole lot of sense it just seems like what they should have done I'm gonna 2020 hindsight because it's reasonable when something goes wrong it's reasonable to talk about some of the police tactics and policy that led to that and say hey how can police officers do it better to avoid stuff like this in the future so it just seems like you know before you start using force or anything that police officers with Ohio state would do whatever they could and again maybe they did this maybe they had someone on the phone with the supervisor trying to get the Canon officer to the other side but again he was in the line of Crossfire and he definitely couldn't hear what the supervisors for State Police were saying That's How stuff like this happens um I should say that Mr Rose was charged with felony eluding police which he absolutely should be so just because one police officer screwed up and and engaged in the use of force with a canine which was not objectively reasonable and that's my opinion that that use of force was not objectively reasonable um again even the on scene even the other on scene police officers did not think it was objectively reasonable before or after and again that's clear on the body camera footage so the use of force was not objectively reasonable but again what what Mr Rose did you of course he should be charged with felony eluding absolutely there's no question now I know what people are going to say because I put a couple of these videos up on Instagram and on Tick Tock and what people say is they're saying oh so so because because he had a missing mud flap that he deserves he deserves to get bit by a canine no I never said that I would never say that in fact I'm specifically saying that that use of force was not appropriate it was not reasonable um however yes he should be charged he absolutely should be charged with fleeing a law enforcement officer because again had Mr Rose stopped his truck and given the document to the police officer just like he's required to do an unlawful traffic stop he would have gotten his he would have gotten his ticket or he would have gotten his verbal warning he would have been on his way um but instead of that because he didn't cooperate he is going to be the highest Ohio's newest millionaire all right let's see what kind of questions we have from people um Sergeant George says the screen from Mr Rose was terrifying I mean I mean it was obvious that Ohio Troopers tried to warn the Circleville officer to not release the canine but the circle officer did it out of spite yeah Sergeant George I'm not sure why the Circleville officer did it like I said you can see on one of the body camera videos that he thought he was doing the right thing because you know like right after he looks confused he says he says well the guy wasn't complying right why are they all mad at me why is everybody upset so he's asking these questions out loud and he looks he looks confused um I should also say before I get to a couple more comments that the Circleville officer he was fired from the from the police department after this happened um let's see uh why didn't a large says if that dog attacked you then it would be a different rationale I'm not sure who you're referring to why didn't because I'm saying that the use of force from the dog was not reasonable it was not within policy and the cops shouldn't have done it so I'm not sure who that comments directed to but okay Alabama says I heard an officer say if you don't comply we we can't guarantee your safety um yeah Alabama police officer yeah I'd have to go back and look at that normally what they say Alabama man I can't guarantee it here because obviously the police made mistakes typically what police officers say in a situation like this what the training is is they say something to the effect of if you comply we can guarantee your safety so usually they don't add in negatives on that usually they say if you do this we can guarantee your safety again I'd have to go back and look but that's typically what the training is and and that's a good thing to say not only is it a good thing to say but police officers also have to follow through with that which obviously mistakes happen but if you say it they should follow through with it and again no matter what crime someone committed if someone is cooperating during the arrest police officers should not utilize Force I think we all agree there Rich says uh that's uh pretty good for a guy with uh uh okay something about viewers uh let's see um a question for you why do some Flags especially in courtrooms have gold fridges on the edge um rotten apple news you know that's a good question I don't know I would have to I would have to look that up I'm not I'm not a flag expert I'll be 100 honest Levi says I also believe no special treatment for other cops doctors judges attorneys if there's probable cause they should be treated the same as anyone agree 100 and Levi says okay uh uh golden fringes to Homage the Queen of England I'm not sure about that but okay uh let's see um officer blue gun hey how's it going man um officer blue gun says passive compliance does not equal sending a dog bad training agree with you 100 officer blue gun thank you so much um normally officer blue gun and I see these cases just about the same way because officer blue gun's a real smart guy you should go follow his channel uh rotten apple news says Levi Nolan only in part uh what do the okay talking about the golden fringes uh let's see Levi's says if not violent felony I would not pursue to endanger the public Levi that's a really interesting point and you know I'm going to go ahead and agree with you and I get [ __ ] so one of the things that I like to do is sometimes I'll say something and I'll get [ __ ] from both sides you know so that's kind of that's kind of how I know that I'm kind of on the right track when people who are always pro-police get mad at me and people who are always anti-police when when they get mad at me as well when I kind of be that calm little Center Center in the middle I know that I'm probably doing the right thing and I agree with you that on Levi I don't like vehicle Pursuits um for a lot of reasons because it is just an increasingly dangerous not just for the offenders but for the public for police officers I'm not I'm not crazy about vehicle Pursuits especially with a lot of the technology we have and again I know that not every department has this but a lot of police departments do have drones they have helicopters um but the thing is is something like this an equipment violation a mud flap you could say well you know Circleville Ohio they don't have a helicopter they they can't go ahead and deploy that well you know what for something like a mud flap should we as taxpayers should we really be using those resources for that kind of stuff anyways a 20 a 20-minute Chase involving how many cops and supervisors and dispatchers and resources and having rescue on standby all of that for a missing mud flap for something that's dangerous I mean to me that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense I'm not crazy about vehicle chases um especially if it's something like a commercial motor vehicle where you have a license plate so it should be one of those things and please if and again again I was never I was never a certified to be a commercial motor vehicle inspector obviously or anything like that but you know in my experience please correct me if I'm wrong if anyone knows this please correct me if I'm wrong but if you have a license plate on a commercial motor vehicle running that license plate you know it should give you the name of that company when I've run you know in like I said didn't do a whole lot with trucks but in working on the street for 15 years yeah I have run license plates and I have stopped trucks before so when you do that it does come up with the owner with the owner of that company it just should be a pretty easy thing to run the license plates get the it should be it should be one of those things where you could just uh run the license plates get the name of the company do a Google search call the company and say hey I tried to do a druid traffic stop here um who was the driver he didn't stop you know hey company we'll even send you all the body camera footage he'll get in trouble at work and they'll probably give you the personal information of the driver so you can go ahead and issue a criminal summons he can still face the charges without um uh without T could still face the charges without having to do any kind of a Chase that's the kind of stuff that that I prefer um but but yeah officer blue gun but Daniel why would someone run for just a mud flap most of the time there was much more serious reasons oh great yeah no 100 because yeah officer blue gun exactly because a reasonable person isn't going to run for just a mud flap now this person wasn't a reasonable person so Mr Rose wasn't again so also officer blue and I would ask well what kind of person doesn't stop for a Mudflap and again he didn't know why police were trying to stop him I mean he didn't know the reason but you know um what kind of person I've had dozens hundreds of people flee from me and not one of them ever called the police while they were running and saying hey this cop is trying to pull me over but I don't really want to stop because again that gives police officers your phone number which they could probably trace and find out who you are so so obviously something wasn't right with this guy because he made a lot of strange situations all right a couple more a couple more comments here uh let's see that mud flap was on camera and the ticket should be sent not a Chase yeah news now Tammy I agree with you yeah I like that uh I like that a whole lot uh Levi says uh meanwhile President Clinton and countless okay um all right uh let's see Alabama man how do you prove who's driving yeah Alabama and that would be that would be correct that could be difficult however if you go ahead and uh call the company and they say yeah you know what that car is registered to uh jadarius Rose we're looking at our logs he was there he was there that day and again since it's just a misdemeanor ticket I mean it's one of those things where it's like how many resources are you going to go ahead and do but again you go ahead and as a police officer what I would do is I would go ahead and I would call the company and I would have them send us send all the documentation for the criminal summons I would have my body camera rolling while I'm on the phone while I'm on the phone with them and they say yeah the the person driving this car based on our logs was jadarius Rose I mean you don't need a whole lot to establish who the driver was especially if you get the documentation from the company and you have the company on the phone saying this um and again and it's a it's a traffic ticket Mr Rose probably lives out of state he's not going to come back anyway so again how many resources are you going to um are you going to expend on this um yeah so that was that case um that was uh uh that was a really that was a situation where again it was not a not a good use of force I don't think the officer there's no bad intent it doesn't seem it just seems like he didn't know um again because afterwards he's asking questions he's confused about why the other cops on scene are mad at him and that's what I want to say as well is that a lot of people think like when they talk about like oh police are bad or please are racist and all this kind of stuff and they point they use like they use a case like this to say this is the case this is why police are bad well I mean really it proves the exact opposite because here we are in a small town in Ohio you have 15 cops on scene and 14 of the 15 are saying that's [ __ ] up you shouldn't have done that so again if we're going to say that all Cod that cop if this is an example of police officers being bad no no this is an example of One Cop messing up and immediately after 14 to 15 cops saying yeah this guy screwed up again and then and then the police officer um went ahead the police department went ahead and fired the officer so again you know this basically shows that when a cop messes up and I do think he messed up in this situation like I said a bunch of times when a police officer messes up this is typically what happens he gets fired and the guy is probably going to get a lawsuit and become Ohio's newest millionaire all right uh let's see let's see if we um let's see uh the next case here so this is a case that was really interesting and I actually covered this before I knew whether or not the individuals were going to be charged some I covered this on a tick tock and in Instagram and um I I this is the case that happened in Stockton California with 7-Eleven clerks and let me tell you this video is just an unbelievable video it was shot by a shot by a cell phone camera it's an absolute absolute great video so what what happened in this case is there were a couple clerks who work at 7-Eleven and while they were working at 7-Eleven a 41 year old individual named Tyrone Frazier came in and what Mr Frazier started to do is he basically just with this level of arrogance and entitlement he started he went behind the counter and he had an empty trash can and he's basically started knocking stuff off the shelf just random things off the shelf into the trash can and because he was going to shoplift and steal those items so one of the ways that the clerks knew that Mr Tyrone Frazier was going to steal those items in shoplift is because within the 24 hours before this he went into the store two other times shoplifted items and both times he told the clerks that he had a gun and he threatened them with a gone both times that night they never saw a gun he just said I have a gun leave me the [ __ ] alone um so this time they the clerks were prepared they weren't going to let that happen a third time so as he's doing this um one of the clerks went behind Mr Frazier and grabbed him from behind dragged him down to the ground and the other clerk took a broomstick and he starts beating him mostly in the legs with this broomstick now listen they beat this [ __ ] so long and so hard that the one clerk had to take breaks I mean the video is incredible you can see the clerk is kind of tired and um uh yeah and uh uh yeah it's um you can see that he's tired because he has to take breaks as he's beating him so you know they do this for a while then they let him go you know Mr Mr Frazier doesn't have any serious injuries I mean a lot of people see this as you know that stores are just getting you know shoplifting people are threatening clerks and this is kind of like one for the good guys um but you know there was a risk that they were going to be charged for this and and I made a video you can go you can go you can go back and look that um I I went and I did a video on this before when so what we knew is that you know we knew who Mr Frazier was they said he was going to be charged with um they pretty much tied him to a bunch of other robberies um but also but also um that that the the clerks themselves may be looking at criminal charges so I did a video on it before I knew the outcome and basically here's what I said I said I doubt that they're going to be charged and even though it's California here's why because this individual because the force does look excessive you know if you just if you just watch it you know not in in totality but you just see the beating you think well this this seems excessive for shoplifting but you have to think about it like this so I said if this was the individual who had come in before and had threatened to and had threatened to uh a robbery with a gun that it would be reasonable that that the clerks would think that maybe he is armed maybe he does have a gun and the idea is that you're going to use Force so he can't so you get him totally subdued so he can't reach for a weapon like that's it's a pretty reasonable defense that even if they were charged like that's a pretty good defense to have again because he's previously threatened you with a gun so the idea that you're going to use Force enough so you're not hitting him in the head hitting him in the legs that he doesn't have a chance to reach for a gun that he's already threatened you with like that's that's you know that seems like it could be in the bounds of being reasonable and especially because you know he had committed multiple felonies there before so we just found out yesterday that the clerks are not going to be charged and they actually did tie Mr Frazier not only to the two prior robberies in this store but multiple robberies all around the Stockton California area so um yeah so that was uh that was a really that was really good news um so yeah go ahead and try that in a small town uh let's see if we have any questions here so arom Vala says tell us how you feel about the police benevolent Association the Fraternal Order of Police courtesy cards used for the last 50 years that we better know your character and honesty oh that's a rough one um well so I'm gonna say something about the police benevolent card so um the best thing I could the most accurate thing I can say about that is I don't know a whole lot about it the reason is is because no one in my state does that so I I've worked in the same state for for 18 years and we don't pass out those kind of cards so we don't we don't have those kind of cards so that isn't the culture that we have in my state or in in the police department that I was with um in general I think it's a bad idea so again now I'm going to talk about stuff that doesn't happen in the area that I worked out of that I have no personal I have no personal association with um but to me it sounds like a bad idea um it sounds like a bad idea so officer blue gun said what the heck are these cards so thank you officer blue gun so so I I don't think that's a thing in every state it's not common knowledge to a lot of police officers um my understanding is maybe this is a thing that is maybe this is a thing that is like um further uh further out east um maybe but again I don't I don't know I never worked I never worked or lived out east um it appears that maybe Ohio is a place that has them but again I don't have any experience with it best thing I can answer your questions like it sounds like a bad idea um it doesn't sound like a good idea I don't really see the the purpose of it no one should be above the law just because you're a friend or family member of a police officer um yeah that should have nothing to do with whether or not you're charged with a crime um so final answer is I don't like it don't think it makes sense if anyone disagrees I would really like to hear the the opposite side of that I would really really be interested to see if anyone else has something to say that's you know basically uh the opposite of the opinion I want to see what that argument is because again it's not part of my culture and it just doesn't make sense I think it's a bad idea that's my answer uh yeah so it seems like it's a huge thing on the East Coast which again I've never I grew up in the Midwest and the last 18 years I've lived in the southwest never lived on the East Coast it seems like that's probably uh where where it happens though um let's see uh let's see rotten apple news says have you ever arrested any bad cops during your career um I have had to arrest police officers yes uh let's see any other comments here let's see Rich Spillman says um the stick didn't break so it couldn't have been excessive uh absolutely uh okay um all right so we're gonna go ahead and move on to the next case the next case this was an officer involved shooting in San Francisco and you know I don't say this a whole lot but this is probably the one of the most justifiable officer-involved shootings that's ever been captured on video certainly within the last year let me tell you what happened so this happened in San Francisco so San Francisco San Francisco was San Francisco police officers the narcotics team they were they had someone who had an outstanding and active warrant um so they weren't in full uniform but they did have all had they had on vests that said police um also you can watch all the body camera footage I've seen all the body camera footage there is no there is no anyone not the individual being arrested not friends and family and not Mr Bluford who was shot and killed by police officers whoever questioned whether or not they were police so and I did a video on this on Instagram and Tick Tock and a lot of people were saying was well how did they even know that that they were police officers well they did because again you can watch the body camera footage and at no point did anyone question whether they were cops or not again because you know when you when you live in a not great area and you know what the police officers look like and all they had all had vests and jackets on that said pulley so again no one was confused so I just want to say that right off the bat so these undercover police officers you know they were marked up for this um they did contact someone who had an outstanding warrant they placed them in handcuffs and this person was resisting arrest so he wasn't it wasn't like a knock down drag out fight the individual let police officers put him in handcuffs but he didn't want to walk to the police car he was kind of struggling well it was at that point that a whole bunch of other it was it was at that point a whole bunch of other people it was at that point that a whole bunch of other people started to gather around who really had nothing to do with the arrest wanted the individuals one of the individuals that came up with a 41 year old man named Ryan Bluford now Ryan Bluford had nothing to do with this arrest he wasn't detained by police police weren't looking for him so essentially he could have just gone completely about his day had no contact with police officers again he wasn't the target of police he wasn't no officers were looking for me I can't stand up he had nothing to do with this case and Mr blueford decided to unnecessarily insert himself right into this police incident for absolutely no reason so he basically gets in the faces of the police officers he's screaming he's yelling at him he's swearing at him and he is demanding at the point police officers released this individual he's saying now I should add based on zero evidence that the individual doesn't have a warrant um again again he's he's factually wrong because the person did have an active and outstanding warrant but Mr Bluford is screaming and yelling at police officers you can watch on the body camera footage that he actually he isn't like standing 10 or 20 feet away he gets right in the face of a police officer within like two feet of the police officer screaming that they have to release him he's also threatening police officers he's threatening to kill police officers during this time as well now the thing about being a police officer especially in a town like San Francisco or any big city is police officers are accustomed to dumb people saying really dumb things and most of the time police officers don't react to it because it's just so normal now if you have a regular job that isn't big isn't a police officer if you're a realtor or or if you're an accountant maybe you aren't used to you know people screaming in your face and saying just stupid [ __ ] cops are used to that and especially in a place like San Francisco so they don't do anything which is good because I mean a huge First Amendment guy so if someone wants to yell and scream at police officers again I could think this guy's a [ __ ] idiot but and he is an idiot but he should be allowed to say it I don't like when police officers when they hear something that they don't like they try to detain people or restrict speech that's the kind of thing where 100 times out of 100 I'm going to come on this channel and I'm going to say police officers had guessed the person was saying something stupid but being stupid is not against the law as long as you are not interfering with an investigation which he wasn't because this guy was still under arrest he can Ryan Bluford can say all the dumb things he wants right that police officers should not detain people or restrict any kind of Freedom just for speech and I'm very clear on that many times so police officers didn't do anything to Mr blueford again even though he's literally Screaming two feet from their faces they don't do anything to him however at one point Mr Bluford amps it up and he reaches in his pocket and he pulls out a gun at that point the police officers they yell he has got a gun he's got a gun they kind of all back up they take cover they get marked off as Mark you officers in there and they pretty much surround Mr blueford now at this point now Mr blueford is the subject of detention by police officers because he's yelling and screaming that he's going to pull he's going to kill police officers then he pulls out a gun and he starts waving the gun around to the credit of police officers they don't shoot him right away okay so had they just immediately as soon as he pulled the gun out had they fired their weapons and shot and killed him it would probably be a Justified officer involved shooting the reason is is because he threatened to kill police officers now he's pulling out a gun and he's waving it around so I most people could say yeah I get why a police officer would be in fear for their safety you know that seems like it could be a deadly force situation but police officers do not shoot him right away in fact they give him little it's on body camera video they give him literally dozens and dozens of warnings and commands to drop the gun well Mr blueford not only does he not drop the gun and this is what I say is this is the most justified officer involved shooting almost that I've ever seen or at least in the last year or so it with the gun in his hand he raises it up and he points it like this towards a police officer once the gun is directly pointed at a police officer and it's clear it's all on video Once the gun is is pointed at a police officer it's only at that moment that police officers use very reasonable deadly force um so Mr blueford he was shot and killed by by police officers um a couple things on that his his and of course is always going to happen I don't like to say negative things about the family of anyone killed by police because that has to be such a such a difficult thing to go through so I don't like to criticize them but I do think it's reasonable to question the things that they say so what a couple of them said in the to to local news over there in San Francisco is I wish that the police would have de-escalated more listen listen when there's a gun is pointed at you when a gun is pointed directly at you the time for de-escalation has passed you have no other seconds left to your life that's it you have to act whether you're a regular person a citizen a regular citizen or you're a police officer when there was a gun pointed at you you the really you don't have any other option again the time for de-escalation has passed but that was a question that the family had you know what they should be asking questions and the police department at some point when they're allowed to they should get some answers I absolutely agree with it now I have a couple questions some of my questions are that Ryan Bluford back in 2000 back in 2006 he was convicted of rape it was a gang rape where the victim was a 16 year old girl he did a decade in prison all right he gets out in 2022 so about a year ago in 2022 he was arrested for domestic violence and sexual assault why was he out of prison why was he not in jail so that's my question also California has some pretty strict gun laws and we've talked a lot about gun laws on this channel California has some pretty strict gun laws how did he get a how did he get a gun why did Mr blueford even have a gun so these are some of the questions that I have that I think that I think are really what the family should be asking is why is he out of jail and why did he even have a gun why was he pointing a gun at police again for a situation that he had nothing to do with it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense but yeah that was The Bluford case it's all on body camera video the one thing that San Francisco police does and a lot of police departments do this but the one of the things that I've noticed about San Francisco police is that they do a really good job with transparency which I think is really important you know whether you're on the left or the right hopefully we can all agree that transparency from the police department is something that we all want it's certainly something that I want so here's what the police department does they don't just do a video um like like a pre-made video of hey this is what happened this is the body camera footage now I really do like when police departments do that I think that's great but San Francisco police department they actually take it another step further they do it all live so they do it live it's broadcast and you can you can go ahead and watch it um they have someone talk about the call they play all the body camera footage so this briefing this community briefing that they had Live on YouTube for everyone to see it was about 90 minutes and I watched the entire thing they showed all the body camera footage they showed they slowed they slowed some of the stuff down and they did they showed exactly exactly what happened also they showed some of the surveillance footage that they were able to get from different different businesses in the area and stuff like that they showed they showed the surveillance footage and then afterwards now they do do something kind of strange and if you have a chance um I did a story about this on on Instagram over at police law news that it's really interesting what they do this part I'm not I'm not crazy about but again it does make for a great um a great reel I made it's what they do is they they basically let after the briefing's over they let random people call in and on this live Community briefing that's broadcast to anybody they let random people call in and basically as the police chief is standing there basically yell at the police chief now when they when they did it um when they did it uh yeah it's like a long time listener first time caller police chief the police suck you know it's that it's absolutely crazy this is Jack from Ohio I'm calling for the first time it's absolutely crazy so so you know a bunch of the people were like you know saying you know why did the you know we're glad the police did this but it's this is a situation where and I think conversation is good between police leaders and citizens but this is the case a situation where the police chief really can't say anything back he just has to sit there and listen to it no matter how good or how ridiculous the calls are and one call where they said you know we know that the with it was a very reasonable lady she said you know we know that the police really tried in this case thank you for showing all these videos thank you for showing the de-escalation you know we see that the police officers didn't shoot until a gun was pointed at them um you know we want to thank the police and the police chief said Thank You caller and then someone called in and not only does he say that it says negative things about police officers he says [ __ ] all the people who were saying that the police officer did a good job and afterwards the police chief just says thank you caller so I mean it's actually it's actually really really really a strange thing that they do um yeah so it's a uh yeah I mean it's so weird it's almost like you know if you're the 15th caller we're going to give you uh uh tickets to see see the Spice Girls or something it's really it's really strange um all right okay so last case that I want that I want to talk about this is one that I've covered a lot and and the entire country has covered a lot but it's kind of wrapped up I think this is the last outstanding piece of this really important case that um this is a really important piece um to this to this case let me answer one question really quick I think there 4am says how do you feel about the discrepancy between the 60 police that were murdered by citizens last year and the Thousand citizens that were murdered by uh Elios why is the number so one-sided I think therefore I am really good question and I'm gonna go ahead and answer it first of all you use the word murder so murder means that there's a crime the thousand people who were killed by police officers the vast majority of them were threatening police officers so you can go ahead and actually look at all the different officer involved shootings that happen and see exactly why people were shot um very few of them were murdered which means which means it was a crime what I would say is is here's how here's how I think that people should people should should look at this um I think therefore I am so so you basically have you basically have 250 million um citizen contacts between police officers and citizens 250 million every single year you have approximately 1 000 deadly shootings so what that means is 99.99999999 of the time there isn't an officer involved shooting where someone dies and then if we dig deep into those cases which we absolutely do here on this show most of them are like the case that I just did now where someone is pointing a gun at a police officer and they go ahead and the police officers kill the individual so again it's it's unbelievably extremely rare that police officers use unreasonable unlawful deadly force now as I said before if a police officer does use unreasonable unlawful deadly force they of course should be charged with a crime we don't want police officers to to commit crimes now now what I also want to say is put that into a little more of a context um so you know um so Albert New Mexico has about 1.3 million calls for service a year police have many different interactions with people and you know Albuquerque Police um you know maybe has you know maybe sometimes five sometimes fifteen but never more than 20 so out of a officer-involved shootings a year and again most of those aren't fatal so if you think about that it's you know it's it's you know you know five out of or six or seven out of 1.3 million it's unbelievably rare and that's a good thing one of the goals of this one of the reasons why I do this show is because I'd like to talk about cases but yes I also like to think about how can police officers do things how can citizens do things that there is less violence between police and citizens that's what we want so one of the things that I think therefore and one of the things that I always say is that if you look at actually look at these cases look at these data like they're not random police aren't driving around shooting randomly out of their car that's not how it happens usually an officer involved shooting it's a pretty predictable thing normally what happens is someone commits a felony then they then police officers contact them and they run fight or resist arrest or they attack police officers so if you do those things commit a felony and then fight with police your chances of being killed by a police officer go up exponentially now take the group of people who never commit a felony and then again even Those who commit a felony but don't resist arrest or attack cops the chances that they're ever going to be harmed by a police officer is unbelievably low and that is what we want um yeah so I that's that's what we want we want less police shootings um but most of the time an officer involved shooting is 100 dictated by someone pointing a gun at them good question though I think therefore I am um yeah so anyway I started blasting um it's it's the last case I want to talk about is the is the George Floyd case because the fourth police officer officer tutau who never had any physical contact with Mr Floyd he was sentenced a couple days ago let me tell you about his sentence so just so everyone knows about the George George Floyd case and again it's something that a case everybody should talk about Derek Chauvin was the officer who was on George Floyd his neck or his shoulder area he's sentenced to you know somewhere around 22 years in prison officer officer King was on uh George Floyd's back kind of like in the middle of George Floyd on his back he's doing about five years in prison officer Lane was on George Floyd's feet I think he's doing about three years in prison or so and officer two Tau was doing crowd control when George Floyd threw himself out of the police car now onto the ground and police officers were holding him there while rescue was on the way and he was having a medical episode because of all the fentanyl he took while that was happening officer two Tao was basically trying to hold back an Angry Crowd now based on what Derek Chauvin was doing should the crowd have been angry yeah I'm going to go ahead and say yes I think the crowd had a reason to be angry I'm not mad at the crowd but what I will say is that two Tau basically his job was to keep the crowd away that was his job because think about it what would happen if one two three or twelve of those people started to rush police officers do you think that that would be safer or less safe for all the individuals on scene if you're a police officer trying to control a six foot four 260 pound guy who's out of his mind and out of control and now you have eight people rushing you do you think the chances that that could land in an officer-involved shooting increase yeah it does so that's why police officers are trained that you have to keep if police officers are doing a job and then you have um you have to do crowd control you have to keep those people away now again I get it I understand why they were mad they should have been mad I'm not questioning that because again what Derek Chauvin did was obviously not correct he deserved to be in prison I I I don't think he meant to do it but of course he used unnecessary and probably excessive force all right but it's reasonable for two Tau to try to keep those two parties separated it would only be less safe for George Floyd again if 10 people started rushing police officers like what would you do as a police officer if there's three or four of you there and 10 to 12 people start rushing at you and attacking you are you going to use deadly force because you're outnumbered yeah that's possible so the idea of two Tau and then again the training that he had to try to separate those two parties that's not an unreasonable thing yes do I wish that two town would have said something more to Derek Chauvin I mean of course absolutely because this isn't the reason that we want but again to tell all he was doing was doing crowd control he was just sentenced to I think four years and nine months in prison um I mean to me that's absolutely insane he should not be sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for doing crowd control which was literally what he was trained to do it's absolutely what he was supposed to do he's gonna do four years and nine months so think about it this way he got more time in prison than two of the officers who were actually touching George Floyd So if you look at in that context to me it's absolutely insane so I was in I was I I finished Law School in 2019 I'm in the Minnesota area and so I had a lot of contacts with people who lived in the Twin City area and I remember when when this happened I was saying that there's absolutely I could see Derek Chauvin getting charged I get it the two officers who were on the back and elect yeah I think they might be charged with something but I remember arguing with people if my some of my law school friends and saying that there's absolutely no way that officer two Tao who is doing crowd control is going to be charged with a crime that would add be absolutely crazy like he's supposed to keep the crowd away you know the cops behind him who are actually dealing with George Floyd no matter what they were doing tutao had to keep the crowd away um I was wrong so all my law school friends who debated with me back in 2020 about this you were 100 right and I was completely wrong on that one all right well that's going to be our uh we'll tell you know what let's say we haven't you know we don't have any other comments um okay don't don't heaven don't have any other comments so yeah that
