daddy with theat daddy with theat parents are supposed to be the people who love their children and take care of them forever but some people don't get that love we have no money we have I have no family they're the only things I live for it Stephanie on December 20th 2023 in a neighborhood there was a loud noise like a crash a car had crashed into a fence causing a lot of damage Stephanie was driving the car something else happened that would really hurt her and her daughter who was in the back seat when it happened my phone got smashed okay or go to Metro and get a new phone I'm going to have you hang out here for a little bit okay cuz I got to do a crash investigation as well sure you have your insurance and your registration for the vehicle course where were you headed I I was going downtown cuz I have an appointment okay where do you have an appointment at um Dr Court okay yeah when they talked to her they saw she was finding it hard to talk clearly she tried to say her driving was bad because she didn't know the road well and her husband's car wasn't in good shape this road before I was just trying to make a shortcut and I was trying to turn and look how B our our tires are well his tires whose car is this this is my husband's but I'm insured on it train registration there and she was in her car seat oh yeah shot in and you had your seat belt on oh yeah okay oh always all right I so you don't want me to call a tow truck you said you have someone that'll tow it yeah cuz he like 50 bucks okay things got more serious when another police officer came um since it was just you with the property damage I think this is a city owned gate so I'll just document that okay um so give me just a second if you guys want to hang out yeah um can I before I go so what happened so I have an appointment downtown and I was late I wasn't speeding but i' never been down this road before and I want to go turn but tires are so bald that like the brakes went out so you didn't see the fence that was in front of you or what happened how fast were you going not fast at all some serious damage to the fence her husband showing up made things real he got there and was worried about their daughter but felt better when he saw that both his wife and daughter were okay and hadn't gotten hurt daddy with theat daddy with theat hi it hit me what it ran out in front of me what ran out in front of you the fence you all right honey he's fine bab oh yeah what she all right we are fine everybody all right yeah we're good what you do you didn't hit any other cars fence got this fence that's it yeah cuz the front cuz you have front wheel drive and the freaking sorry Dad baby it's not your fault so all we got down was a old 974 oh you know what I don't know what do you want me to do Happ okay I know I I'm not I'm not going to blow up I'm not going to scream as long as my baby's all right and you're okay my baby's all right that's all right the police looked more into what happened do you think she'd be on inflence I don't think so she's in drug court right now and she's checking in every day every day she's doing P test well no every day she's doing a meeting and every other Monday Wednesday Friday she does a um odd straight to a fence like this it's to meet doesn't make any sense to me too but Ian yeah but she's got a she do a psychiatrist no she does go to a psychiatrist and I want me to do other day and he changed her her medications and she was like falling asleep a little bit so I tried to wake her up this morning and she was like really really hard to wake up and I said she go I think the dose he gave me is just drunk they found a bottle of pills called Xanax and some other drugs plus two bottles of alcohol in the car finding these things made the police think differently about what happened all right Stephanie um so I've completed my crash investigation now is the part where I'm changing hats I'm going from a crash investigation to a DUI investigation so I do believe you're under the influence of Narcotics or alcohol so I'm going to be doing a DUI investigation can you come with me yeah not though okay have you taken anything else since then cuz it's 4:30 and you still seem a little out of it you your eyes are drooping as I'm talking to you you're having trouble stand straight up so no I'm not having trouble I think I really would take my daughter in the car po we're gonna run you through some field sobriety tests one hands to your side hands on your side heel the toe okay let me tell you're under arrest for submission to deal really I honestly do believe it's that sleep there's no skid Mars here I mean she just drove right through the fence she's she's unable to do any of the tests she can't do any of them I was wondering she is she cannot do them honestly I know she had a drug problem and I know that she's been good since she got arrested me you know I'm going to miss my daugh it's Christmas I don't think you'll be in jail till Christmas but that's it was in the person you were wearing yeah old ret be truthful to us yeah Now's the Time To be honest truthful so what do you use that what's the syringe for then why is it in your first go when I got a job my husband cleaned out all my I left my first at home you see how it looks [Applause] though there's Xanax the Xanax you have Xanax mixed with what's the yellow one Dian so you put the Dian the Xanax in there together why is that both benzo he gave them to me and said put them in my truck a lot what F and the Xanax I haven't took any Xanax I see I'm asking when the last time you took you already found a needle I have some Brill am not going to find any other pair ofilia in there like I said be honest with you no I don't think so Stephanie said it wasn't all her fault and tried to blame her husband there was a lot of proof against her he said Stephanie was seeing a doctor for her mind and thought maybe her medicine made her act like that well there was narcotics in the vehicle impounding it that's what I know legal or illegal well there was a needle in the her purse and then mix of she says benzos in her prescription did you mix Xanax with her prescriptions I don't do nothing like that she said you did so mix ZX with her prescriptions yeah so she has a prescription and in that prescription there's other pills we I she did but cuz that's also an indicator she just told me she bought liquor SN she did buy look she bought a bottle of vodka and Crown it's not open she don't drink she's mixing both she don't drink that why would she buy I don't know that's what I'm confused about I don't know if she's having AER or she they found stuff they shouldn't have found I call your counselor I'm serious but unfortunately Stephanie was taken by the police and had to deal with many charges these include child neglect driving Under the Influence damaging property DUI with a child in the car and having drugs without a prescription now let's move on next case which involves another complicated family situation let's find out what this case teaches us about the difficulties and duties of being a parent Christina Co on April 22 2021 in the neighborhood the police were called to a house because neighbors heard someone crying in a distressing way when the officers got there they found something very sad [Music] is that someone passed out on the ground right [Music] there I'm supposed to be alone with the kids right now my surgery are they both your children yes yeah inside the house the police found two young children locked in a room the room was messy and dangerous with things scattered around that could hurt them when the police asked the mother about it she didn't seem to care much the way the mother acted was surprising hello are you looking for something yeah you me yeah yeah are you the mother of these children here yeah what's up they just they've been screaming and crying yeah they're playing they have the the windows open that's what they do they're not playing ma'am he looks like he need some juice or something he showing me his cup yeah I was just about to go get them okay well we're getting complaint they feel like there's children in distress over here yeah they and they they um they're very loud and they scream a lot yeah it's called a kid yeah they scream a lot and they're very um how old are they uh almost two and three they're very is anybody supervising them yeah I was just in there like I was just in there getting them sto mhm but I have my other daughter in the so there's like 10,000 choking hazards in there that they're locked in that room and nobody's in there supervising them as they're screaming for the whole neighborhood to call us that brighten your eyes and that's apparently has not been the first time from all your neighbors calling in saying that they hear this multiple times throughout the week do you have an idea with you the house was really messy too with cockroaches crawling on the walls which made it even more dangerous and dirty for the children even though it was clear that the children weren't being taken care of properly the mother tried to tell the police that they were in a safe place when was the last time you even changed their diapers as it's sagging there probably full they had a a ton of juice and it was probably an hour and a half ago that I changed their diapers does this seem to be a safe environment for your children yeah it's completely safe it's just they're very very loud and vocal and since both the windows are opened this is a safe environment huh we're still cleaning it out their uncles and aunt just left and they trashed the place so I'm not enthused so far to be honest with you you notice the Cockroaches on the walls yeah um yeah and you can see the so the screen the screen was in there yeah the screen was in but you see how they had the holes and stuff they're put fingers through and I mean I feel like he could easily push that out if you actually tried okay um it took her several minutes to see a good amount of time to answer the Dork um when she answered dor she was like groggy and baby with her when she ENT the door no so she was the was asleep in the bed um she seemed tired groggy kind of out of it like she just awoken and they were banging on the door that was locked from the out side with an empty juice cup Mommy Mommy Mommy cream juice cup juice oh juice cup I was like what's a two okay and screaming Mommy Mommy juice juice and just loud preaching but this didn't make sense because there was a lot of proof showing the opposite the police noticed that the mother seemed very tired when she answered the door this suggested that she might have been sleeping or not paying attention while her children were stuck in the room and needing help do you want to explain your sure So based on our findings tonight okay um we do have probable cause to make the arrest both of you me um it's it's just not fair with these Fates all right so all both of y'all are going to be going to jail tonight um the child M left okay DCF has obviously custody of the kids and they're going to be staying with your sister cousin is that what it is um hopefully you guys were able to get out tomorrow you can get back to your baby yeah that's what we have no money we have no I have no family I understand but we we have probable cost to make the we don't we don't tolerate all right that the conditions they're in is unsafe for them in general completely unsatisfactory my wallet my ID my mother you're going to probably want your wallet your ID when you go all here your PS just like your PRS together PS together like PR however Christina Co and Gilbert Bridewell the adults in charge were arrested too they faced many charges for not looking after the children well enough as our cases end it really makes us think about how people can be complicated how important it is to ask for
