Holy [ __ ] OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. >> On February 14th, 2018, a gunman opened fire inside Marjgery Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. 17 people were killed. 17 more were injured. As chaos erupted inside, school resource officer Scott Peterson stayed outside the building. Prosecutors said he heard gunfire, took cover, and never went in, accusing him of child neglect, culpable negligence, and perjury. He became the first officer in US history charged for not confronting a school shooter. Peterson insisted he didn't know where the shots were coming from, claiming echoes made it impossible to locate the gunman. In June 2023, after weeks of testimony at the Broward County Courthouse, the jury found him not guilty on all counts. Inside the courtroom, Peterson broke down in tears, saying he'd been blamed for the actions of the killer. Families of the victims called him a coward. Years later, the question still remains. Was he a coward or a scapegoat?
