so you know generally when i was called
mr monroe's because i was in the
principal's office doing something

talking to you under these circumstances
uh one of my fellow officers got a shot
and um speaking with hsi these agents in
front of us they told us
they told me that you might have been a
witness
okay can you tell me what you saw i was
driving down the road
saw the police officer the vehicle
it was a pull over no big deal
white pickup please state police
pull them over come on getting your
ticket
as i got closer the police officer
started to move funny
kind of like there was a tusk when he
started
i heard one distinct shot i saw the man
with the rifle
the other guy was a man saw that
saw him with a rifle and as i passed i
smelt gunpowder
it was a white pickup i don't know what
he was doing after that
i was trying to keep track of the
traffic in front of me
it's not the type of thing that normal
people get to see very often
so it started shaking me pretty quick
got on the phone and called 911
for the most part after that i came back
and hsi was here
i guess that's what they are hsi i don't
know the guy in the maroon shirt and his
buddy were here
i walked up i asked if there was
anything i could do to help
he said no basically a very polite way
of telling me
not really you would be in the way shut
the hell up get out of our way and uh go
sit in your vehicle and wait
came back i called the office that i
work for
i'll let them know i'm not going to make
it and the client with me
passenger in the back seat there
he didn't know what was going on
i crossed the median i guess illegally
i'm not sure
but by the time i was driving 60 got
from here to the exit and
over to the bridge i only saw the cop
car
by the time i got back here that
suburban was there
i'm guessing you can pull up the
recording of the
911 call okay
if you want i can let you listen to it
were you recording it yes sure can you
play for me
i think you can only hear one side of it
didn't play it all
that's not good
maybe i can't report uh play it for you
okay i'll get it from the from the
pretty much it's that
an officer was shot
and they said they have officers in her
out
i told the dispatcher that i was
doubling back to see if i could help him
in
any way she said if it's dangerous don't
stop there and
told her okay if the white truck is
still there i won't stop but otherwise i
will
the gentleman right there that just went
after his hat i think was the
second person that was there helping
so when the when you witness the
shooting were you still back here or
were you already passing them
it was probably as far as from me to
the truck there to pick up the ford on
the other side of the fence okay
but i was in the close lane i hadn't yet
scooted over
fall like if he had already been shot i
don't know if he was shot once or twice
or what but i only heard one shot
okay when i got to smell the smoke
gunpowder has a very distinct smell
and then you drill drove to the exit
turned around came back and
that's when they they were here okay
um i'm sorry i can't tell you a whole
lot more no
no you're giving me starts getting
jumbled in my head very quickly
now you mentioned that you saw the guy
you saw the rifle you saw the white
pickup but was there
just one person inside that white pickup
over there two people saw
one man i didn't look in the pickup i
was
a little stuck on the fact that i
watched an officer get shot
i saw one man with a rifle
i didn't see a second person i saw the
officer and saw the officer
i think by the time i heard the shot the
officer was already laying on the ground
there's not much i can do but
if there was anything i could do it's
better than nothing
sorry still i'm just trying to relay
some information real quick
by all means
i am at your guys's disposal
if you want me to sit here for the next
five hours that's fine if you want me to
go away that's fine
i'm here for you guys no um
looked like a redneck type the rifle was
looked like one of their rifles
when i showed back up i got to see the
officer
and pulled part of his vest off
and i got to see the moon
on the other hand it also gives me the
thought that i want to be able to do
more i want to be able to do more good
i drive and i do good for people but
no and you did a lot of good by calling
911 because
yeah i think you were the one that i was
trained by ems
i went through ems classes years ago
i never got my certification because you
know
when somebody's being over dramatic and
crying wolf i don't jump on it and say
no
don't you know don't worry everything's
fine
more to the point
they don't like that anyway
