new video shows a man running for
sheriff in Eagle County getting placed
in handcuffs just moments after debating
his opponent Paul eigenberg will be on
the ballot next month against incumbent
Republican Sheriff James Van Beek
agtenberg is calling his arrest on
outstanding warrants for traffic
violations invalid and a political stunt
this evening he talked with Denver 7's
CB cotton CB
Jacqueline to be really clear Paul
agneberg is not your traditional
candidate he doesn't claim a political
party and he believes most systems of
government like courts and policing are
unconstitutional between eagle and Lake
counties he was arrested in 2021 for
failing to provide proof of insurance
expired plates driving without a license
and driving an unregistered vehicle he
filed several motions to dismiss these
charges and then he never showed up for
his court hearings and that's what's led
up to this latest incident

shows adenberg being arrested Wednesday
night after a debate with the incumbent
Sheriff James Van Beek the Eagle County
Sheriff's Office released a statement
Friday saying ranking law enforcement
officials were made aware of the active
warrants for agnaburg's arrest prior to
the debate the statement goes on to say
agniburg was informed too agniburg was
released on a PR Bond Thursday but now
he's calling his arrest invalid because
he says when he was taken into custody
he wasn't provided with a copy of the
warrant signed by a judge agniburg calls
his arrest a political stunt saying he's
campaigned at events where sheriff's
deputies have been present tonight he
wants to know why police waited until
after his debate was Sheriff Van Beek to
arrest him the sheriff's closing
statements that the state were and I'm
the only candidate I'm only Canada up
here that doesn't have two outstanding
warrants and so it's just I think
there's the political party to make me
look bad I asked for a warrant with a
with a valid signature and I didn't have
it uh the undersheriff one of the
Australian officers said that they would
provide it when I got there and I said
no you got to provide it now and when I
arrived at the jail they didn't provided
and so if I had a warrant
I didn't know about it
um there are several opportunities for
them to tell me I had a warrant
uh no one ever said anything at any of
these events
we reached out to the Eagle County
Sheriff's Office who says agneburg was
shown a computer printout that stated
the warrant was active and confirmed
when he was taken into custody the
Sheriff's Office says agneberg was shown
the original warrant with a judge's
signature when the courts were open the
next day we've also asked them why
adenberg wasn't arrested before
Wednesday night and we're still waiting
to hear back in The Newsroom I'm CB
cotton Denver 7. okay so yeah announcing
the warrant was probably a political
move but to be honest he did make it
easy for him by having outstanding
warrants in the first place and like a
comment on this video said he disputes
his prior arrest files with the court
doesn't show up to his own Court
hearings then thinks he has a snowball's
chance in hell of winning a Sherry
selection with no prior political law
enforcement or public office experience
then is not only arrested immediately
but is given the chance to debate the
sheriff in a public forum prior to being
arrested then once arrested has no idea
how the justice system works and wants
to be Sheriff yeah good luck with that I
don't think this current Sheriff has
anything to worry about in this upcoming
election
but I did find a link to the debate
mentioned online but I will only be
showing the closing statements from both
candidates first up is Paul The
Sovereign Sheriff as he calls himself
with a ridiculous closing statement and
then current Sheriff James Van Beek
which includes the mic drop moment when
he announces the outstanding warrants

so yeah I want to be a peace officer I
will never use violence against uh
non-violent people in the county
a crime actually requires a victim and a
perpetrator the state is claiming to be
injured by our actions
and it creates victimless crimes in
order to force its perception of
morality and to generate Revenue
the sheriff's office is generating
Revenue off of traffic tickets everybody
in this county is at risk of getting
robbed by police and politicians for
financial gain and a sheriff I will not
participate in this violence against
peaceful non-violent people
let's see if my opponent is willing to
commit to the same
Sheriff Van Beek you're closing okay
you know again I want to thank everyone

um I've got the experience I've Got The
Proven track record I've got a fantastic
team that I've assembled at the
Sheriff's Office and you know because of
them they also make me look good and I'm
extremely proud of all the work that
they've done we're going to continue to
grow
and I'm the only candidate that's
sitting here in front of you tonight
that doesn't have outstanding warrants
for his arrest
and so I wanted to let you know that as
well
but I am here to work with everybody I'm
here to grow I'm here to learn and and I
want your vote and I ask for your vote
