But on the video, we got video of her >> In here, right? >> Yeah. Well, up this The safe is up front. So, we got video of her taking it out and then um taking it out of the building. >> So, when they say they're prepared by Were these people here when it happened too or were they >> The prepared happens the night before. >> Okay. >> And then in the person that's supposed to remove it from the store comes in the next day and logs it out. >> Okay, she did it all under Sonia Cruz. Was that >> Correct. >> Sonia Cruz is the other worker, right? The The >> The little short girl? >> Yes, the one that rides the bike. >> Was she Was she here when any of these? Uh no. >> Where is she at right now? >> Where's Sonia? Um I don't know. She's not working today. Uh she may be coming in later tonight. Right now it's just Michelle and Angel. >> name hasn't been on it since down here. >> Yeah, this is our Chelsea. >> Okay. Michelle's gone. >> It's a different situation. >> It's going to be like like $15,000 worth. Okay. How long has she How long has she not been at work? >> The last day she worked was last Friday. And she left around 3:00. She was supposed to be going Michelle. Crap. Nikki. >> And Michelle. >> I did it again. He normally does this, but he got tied up. He asked me to do it. >> 828 >> And the last time she worked was on the 28th. >> Correct. The Friday the 20th the 27th 28th >> Friday. >> Okay, yeah, yeah. >> The next day she called >> Right. So, she was supposed to when I I was here Friday and I was following up on this. That's how I discovered that they were all missing. Went to the bank. She said that she had them. She was going to go to the bank. She left out of here about 3:00. Never came back. Yeah. >> Never came back and then lo and behold Saturday she texts the team here. >> But you're supposed to go and make those deposits the same day, right? You're not supposed to hold on to any deposits. >> They're allowed to put them in the night drop, so we would get them the next day, but they're not allowed you know, that they have to go every day. >> Yeah. >> So >> It's only since she would have a week's worth of >> Exactly. Absolutely. >> All right, sir. This is a sworn recorded interview reference PBSO case number 25040100. Date is February 6th. The time time is 10:27 hundred hours. This interview is being conducted at 4645 West Palm Beach, Florida 334115. I am Deputy Kinnelley, ID number 42590 with PBSO. Present with me is William. Is that correct, sir? >> Yes. >> All right. Um, who is identified by his Florida driver's license and wearing black over blue jeans. Do you speak English, sir? >> Yes. >> All right. Are you under the influence of any medications that would affect your ability to tell the truth or understand the questions I'm about to ask you? >> No. >> All right. Do you have any mental conditions or impairments that would affect your ability to answer my questions? >> No. >> Please state your full name for me. >> William >> Magee. Do you swear and affirm that the statement you're about to give is true? >> I do. >> Do you acknowledge that whoever knowingly provides a false sworn statement under oath shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree punishable by imprisonment up to 1 year? >> I do. >> All right, perfect. So, basically give me give me the rundown of when you realized that the deposits weren't being made. >> Okay. So, I came to the store on 220 >> 220? >> to investigate a a notification on a missing deposit. >> Mhm. >> While I was here, she did not have the validated deposit slip. Chelsea told me that they were at the bank. So, I asked her to go to the bank and get the deposit slip. >> Mhm. >> And get all the deposit slips. She was gone. She came back. She provided me a deposit slip validation from the deposit on 220 that was validated that day at that time. It was validated on 227. >> That one was good, correct? >> So, that one I had. >> Yeah, all right. >> But, that started me while I was here I said I'm going to make sure that I have all the deposits because when that happens it's usually an indication that someone's rolling deposits. So I wanted to find out I didn't want to have to come back and reinvestigate. So my intention was to validate that all the deposits were accounted for up to that day. When she came back from the bank all she had is the one deposit slip. She told me that the teller was at lunch that had the key to the deposit and she couldn't get them. So she was going to go back later and get them. I said okay. I left here. I went to the bank myself. The teller that wasn't a true story. The teller said there's no deposits. She came in she made a deposit on one and gave it to her we have nothing else. So I I can't that's Truist. We're over here on Okeechobee. It's Okeechobee and uh I don't what they call that Dyer? Maybe? They're probably Dyer. Dyer okay. Um So I don't know how much you want me to go into. Okay. So um So when I when I called her again she said they must be at home. I said please send when you go home tonight please send me a picture of the validated slips because I need to have them accounted. It's actually cash. It's cash. So she didn't she she she ghosted me didn't call me. Finally 8:00 at night I reached out to her again. She said she hadn't been home yet. Um and I said I'll be at the store tomorrow. Please bring them with you. That was the 20 28th. Friday. Um Cuz I was here the 27th and then the 28th I was here cuz she still didn't have them. And then Saturday is when she informed the team that she was in the hospital. And since then I I talked to her once and I texted her two or three times. The last text I told her that if she didn't have the deposit slips by the end of today that I'd be calling the police. >> Yeah. >> And I think that was on Tuesday or Monday. >> Oh, you told her on Tuesday? >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Has she hasn't reached out to you since then? >> All right. Um are you willing to prosecute? >> Absolutely. >> Prosecute. All right. So grand theft. >> How you doing? Agent umbrella, sheriff's office. Do me a favor. Come out with your hands up, please. Walk back towards me. >> We got nothing on him. >> Okay. Just detaining you for right now, buddy. >> Okay. >> I'll explain everything to you in a second, okay? >> Okay. I think that officer took the boat. >> Any weapons on you? >> No. >> Just turn your hands like you're praying. >> No. >> There you go. Just come with me real quick. Appreciate you. You're not under arrest, you're just being detained right now, okay? >> Okay. >> Just come over here to the hood of this car. Any guns, weapons, knives, anything on you I need to worry about? >> No. >> Okay, cool. Just do me a favor. Just hang out right here, okay? Billy, stand by with him for a second. >> Uh I got charges on you for grand theft and organized scheme to defraud. >> Yeah. What what did I defraud you of? >> Well, before I get into any of that, I have to read you your rights, okay? All right. But that's what you're being charged with. And uh is there anyone else in the house right now? >> My son, sleeping. >> How old is your son? >> 18. >> 18? No one else? Any uh pets? >> Uh ferrets. >> Okay. No large dogs or anything? >> No. >> Okay. You're okay, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay, just checking. Cool. Totally forgot. >> Sorry. >> You're tight? >> That's fine. >> The right one? >> I'll fix it for >> You said? >> Listen, man. >> Come this way a little bit. >> It's a state, man. It takes some time. >> And you just sent it, so literally 30 minutes ago. So >> It's been in like an hour, over an hour actually. >> Oh. >> Okay, we'll see. >> There you go. As soon as we see if I can make it, okay? >> All right, you're going to come with me right over to my car, okay? And then we'll talk to you, all right? >> Thank you very much. >> Can you see him putting them on? >> No. >> Okay. >> Nothing. >> All right. >> Not involved yet. >> Just double-check and make sure there's no weapons or anything like that. Just my answer. >> Sorry. >> What's up? >> a twisted ankle. >> It's okay. >> You're okay? >> You're okay. >> There you go. >> I can do it like this? >> Mhm. >> All right. >> Okay, Chelsea. All right, just listen up real quick. I'm required to warn you before you make any statement. You have the following constitutional rights. You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. Do you understand the rights that I read to you? >> Yes. >> Do you have any questions? >> Nope. >> Okay. All right, so like I said before, um we have charges for grand theft over 10,000 and uh organized scheme to defraud. >> Mhm. >> All right? It's been reported to us that your place of employment, Dollar General, >> Mhm. >> you're on camera removing uh large sums of cash on at least six different occasions to which they were never deposited. >> Mhm. >> Okay? Um you want to explain why those funds were never uh deposited into the bank? >> No, I'd like to speak to a lawyer. >> Okay. All right, so we're not going to ask you any further questions. Um we do have a search warrant for your house. Well, we will uh have one moment there with you. And uh once we get done searching your house, uh you'll be on your way to the jail. >> Okay. >> Can I see that? Sorry? >> Can I see the paper? >> Yeah, I said once we get it. All right, it's almost we almost got it in hand now. So, we're going to wait in here, okay? >> Yep. >> But, in regards to uh any uh questions or like normal questions not regarding the case, I'll be happy to answer those, but because you requested an attorney, I'm not going to be asking anything further. All right. >> Thank you. >> If you choose to re-engage with us and you do want to talk, you just let one of us know, okay? >> Yes. >> But, we're not going to force you anything. >> I understand. >> Do you have anything on your body right now tucked away? Where's that at? >> My bra. >> Okay, what is it? >> Phone numbers. >> Phone Did you kind of know this was coming? >> I Well, they had called me the other day and I told him to look at the cameras cuz I have all my evidence and you know what I mean? So, that's why I'm going to talk to a lawyer cuz I have all my proof to show who who does have it. >> Okay. >> So, that's why I'm talking to a lawyer. >> Okay. >> But, I seen you, so I figured yeah. >> It was time? >> I already knew it was time it was. That's why I came out the door. >> Have you ever been arrested? >> Uh 13 years ago. >> For what? >> For not um for the food stamps, not letting them know that I changed jobs. >> Oh. >> Yeah. So, it was welfare adjudication. >> Okay. So, that's your only arrest? >> Yes. >> Okay. How many kids do you have? >> I have three. >> Any minors that are under 18? >> Uh I just have one, but she's >> But, your husband can take look after her. >> Yeah, yeah, that's my husband. He's going to take care of her. >> Okay. >> I'm not worried about that. >> All right. So, just bear with us. We'll get a transport for you. Uh besides that piece of paper, nothing else? Okay. Just bear with us. That was it. >> Okay. So, you just got your tax return? >> Yes. >> And how much how much was your tax return? >> Uh I really don't want to answer that. I really don't know. >> Are you married? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you file separately? >> Yeah, separately. >> Everything separate? >> Yeah, cuz she filed for her kids, for for my daughter. And then her kids. >> kids together or separate? >> one child. >> With her? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> One child in the United States. >> How long you guys been married? >> Almost 10 We've been together almost over 10 years. >> Well, 10 years >> 13 years we've been together. 10 years >> Okay. Is it Is there any any money in that house that we need to know about? >> That that I know of? No. No nothing that's old like this and that. Like Honestly, I'm not going to [ __ ] >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> My dad was a cop for 20 something years. You need to look at me cuz I put in an application for West Palm Sheriff's Office. >> Yeah, you're good. >> So, at the end of the day I don't need to hide anything. No I got to do this. At the end of the day, when I even see if anything out of place, like oh Why is this money? Oh, then it Well, you need to go deposit it to the damn bank cuz I don't want no problems with it. With the stuff. And definitely don't need no problems at the end of the day. >> on? >> In a way, yeah. >> I'll tell you. I'm the investigator detective, okay? >> Okay. >> Um I'm On six different occasions since February 22nd Um there's been large sums of deposits that were made the day while Chelsea was working. So, she's on camera. She can remove the funds from the safe. She puts them in a little Dollar General bag. She can steal some. Then the camera follows her out to her car. Take off. Okay. Of the eight um deposits, only two were made. So, right now $11,349 is missing. Okay? When the loss prevention gentleman called her up and said, "Hey, where's the money? The bank hasn't showed any deposits." She was only able to come up with one deposit, okay? And then since trying to contact her after that, okay, she's absconded from work and won't respond to phone calls. All right, I've even tried to call her because if if it was in fact some kind of mistake, then she could easily verify that. Um at this time she's not choosing to tell me where that that currency is, so all I can go on is what I'm seeing on video and what the deposits are short on, which is the 11 grand. >> She used to work there, too. >> Oh, did you? >> Yeah. >> So, you know, if it is a large amount of money, I mean, we're not talking a few hundred bucks or 11 11,000 dollars, six days worth of cash income on the books. >> So, I mean, we're taking it pretty seriously because of the dollar amount. And in in doing so, you know, we're getting judicial authorization from a judge to search your residence and or search your phone. >> Okay, and we're not >> We are going to do that because we have to. >> Um and >> Do you have Do you I'm sorry. >> Yeah, no problem. >> Do you need need a search warrant? If not, I'll >> Yeah, we do because the thing is is she's in custody at this point and and she's choosing to not speak to me, which is fine, that's her right. But we don't want this um if that come off as somebody was under duress or pressure, so we prefer to actually do it the search warrant method. That way no one can ever say, "Well, they only gave us permission because they felt pressured by >> We don't want to put anyone in that position. We got to have the judge's approval, which it's in their hands right now. So, we're kind of kind of waiting on >> Okay. >> And I would have handled this a different way had she been able to just return our phone calls or the district manager's phone calls and just say, "Hey, what's going on here?" Yeah, they would have worked with her, but being that she just disappeared and never reported back to work and we got 11 grand missing and she's on camera and every one of those, it's it's It doesn't look good. >> It is. >> She literally does this, wraps it up, tucks it in her shirt, or puts it in a bag, and then the bam camera is like literally falling out the park lot. She's seen going into the car with the cash, and that's the last you see of your cash. >> And that's on six different locations. As recent as six days, seven days ago. So, >> you know, if if you do happen to know anything where she did make a deposit or pay the rent with it, our goal is is to get the money back into Dollar General's hands, because that's a lot better in her hands. >> Number one. >> And then also, um it's less, you know, money that would be owed at a later time, because at this point, she's the last person responsible for it. >> So, when was the last time you were going on vacation? >> You were there in May or >> This is way before on This is before I started working at This is on February for our anniversary. So. >> What's What Oh, you've only been working there >> Yeah, 13. >> So, you work at the other Dollar General? >> No, I work on the Belvedere one. I was only there for like two two weeks. >> The one on Belvedere? >> Yeah, the one on Belvedere. >> Oh, not Gun Club Road. >> Well, I'm I'm sorry. Gun Club Road um Military. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> So, when's your last time you worked there? >> My last time I worked there was last week. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> Did you stop coming in to work also? >> No, he took me off the schedule. >> Did you have any kind of a confrontation? >> Well, he got a confrontation with me. >> Who's he? >> Um Bill. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Because Bill didn't The story is Bill didn't like how I came to him, cuz I was cuz I'm doing the stocking. >> What was your profession? >> Stocking. >> Okay. >> So, I'll go from stocker, and then sometimes I go up front to make sure, you know, but they always have theft there and everything. So, one day that I was stocking, he was already and it was going to be remodeled. So, he was already upset, this and that, blah blah blah blah blah. So, he gets on me. I'm on on the ladder resourcing. And then I come He said, "Ray, what are you doing?" I'm like, "Resourcing." He said, "Don't worry about it. Come down here." So, then he starts trying to belittle me on why is this not done, why that's not done. Like, it's hard and I'm explaining to him it's hard to work when you have a remodel and people and then you have me working over somebody. >> Had a disagreement? >> So, no, he took me off. I didn't resign. He just took me off the schedule. So, the next thing you know, occasionally, he came back. They had register fraud with money. >> Yeah. >> So, Justin was the manager and uh other uh register person was there, too. So, they had a con- they had a meeting, this and that. Now, one was 13 $13,000. >> Mhm. >> Now, why would you send if to me you stole something and you giving you looking at the cameras you're sending information to your boss. This is $13,000. This is really incorrect. This woman has a a crack pipe on the floor in hand. Visual picture and everything. Other social security. Take a picture, send it to your district manager. Correct me if I'm wrong. Take that seriously. And if you own or ran >> had a crack pipe? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Okay. He laughed about it. He laughed about it. You see the point that she had the cashier money hands up right there and this and that. Did he even show you those pictures? >> No, we just watched her take the money from the safe, which has a time delay. >> Okay, so he didn't show you the pictures of Sonia when she had money here, put money on the side, and then put some of the stuff in her bag. And she got money here, money there, and everything else. So, that's why I was like, cuz she came to me, and she always said, "He's trying to pin me for the stolen money." >> Yeah. >> And I'm like, "What do you mean?" He's like, "He's talking about all that I have been taking money, deposit, this and that." But why why haven't been I gave her all the information about >> Well, I'm I'm going to stop you there. >> Okay. >> Here's the thing, okay? >> Okay. >> He comes, he sees, "Hey, the 20th was never deposited." She goes, "Oh, wait, I have the slip." He goes, "Well, go get it." She brings him the slip, and guess what? It's from the 27th. Okay, so she deposited the 20th's funds 7 days later. Okay, all this stuff's tracked. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> And she's the only one on video because that has a time uh before it opens. You hit the code, it opens. >> Mhm. >> She's seen taking the funds, no one else is. In fact, the other girl you're talking about, Sonia, wasn't even on shift the day that she walked with out the funds because she's seen logging in on the computer under Sonia's name. However, it's her. And then she takes the funds, goes out to the car, and then she's gone, okay? >> She didn't come back, though. >> I I don't It doesn't matter. She doesn't have a bank slip, so there's no deposit slip. >> Yeah, yeah. >> So, she's actually using another employee's login to take this money out. Which makes no sense, either. You know, there's records of it all. I mean, it's not like there's one fail safe. >> You seem like a reasonable, smart guy. Like you Like when I talked to your wife, she's like, you know, careless. >> She already had her phone number >> The thing is >> her ready to go to jail. >> We're going to look in your house when we get the warrant. Is there Is there any large amounts To make it easy for you guys, so we're not here for hours. For you, especially. I don't Is there anywhere we should be looking? >> No, to my knowledge. >> No cash? >> No. >> There should be no cash in the house, otherwise >> I do not know do my girl's drawers so honestly, I do not >> She just got her tax refund? >> As I know it, tax refund. >> And do you know how much that was? >> No, cuz it's all on her phone. I don't >> It should That should have went straight to her into her bank. Okay. >> She She doesn't keep cash >> Okay. >> house or nothing like that. >> All right. >> And she didn't say anything to you? >> No, sir. >> Okay. So, you know nothing about this. >> I have no No knowledge of it. >> Are there any kids in the house? >> One, her oldest child. >> Yes, right now. Okay. >> And then there's my um So, can I go in my pocket? >> Yeah, yeah. >> So, I got my receipt right there. So, there's there's a S&G inside the house. >> Okay. >> And there's >> You are not a You are not a You never even been >> arrested. We know that. So, I just want to make sure, you know, you know, I know how everything goes, man. I just want to be honest with you. >> Um Is there a dog in the house? >> No, it's a dog. >> Okay. Can you call your daughter? >> No, my daughter's My daughter's out. She's at work. She's an 18-year-old. Yeah, an 18-year-old. >> Can you call her? Him? Him? I'm sorry. Uh you just have him come out. Cuz we need everybody out of the house. So we can secure it and uh Corey. Hey, Corey. >> She was charged with fraud and theft. Thanks for for Be sure to subscribe for more videos like this.
