My name is Deputy Camas, ID 20186 with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. And present with me is Trusty. All right. And do you speak English? Yes. Do you understand Are you under the influence of any medications that would affect your ability to tell me the truth, understand any questions I'm about to ask you? No. All right. And do you have any mental conditions or impairments that would affect your ability to answer my questions? No. Okay. And do you swear and affirm the statement you're about to give me the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? Yes. And do you acknowledge that whoever knowingly provides a false statement a false sworn statement under oath shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree punishable by imprisonment up to 1 year. Yes. Okay. All right. Let's just get into it. So, I was here in reference to a shoplifting that almost occurred, you know, probably a couple minutes before I was here for this, you know, where they tried to steal a cart full of merchandise, and you said up to almost $1,700. Okay, it's a lot of merchandise. And they were wearing black Yes, black black clothing as well. Okay. So, and then while while I was here actually watching the video, you pointed out another subject that was also wearing a black hoodie and all clothing as well. Time frame between that was I don't know, maybe what, 5 5 minutes. Within 5 Yeah, within 5 minutes of that attempted theft actually occurring. So, then while we're here, we observed this gentleman here you know, selecting multiple packs of Pokémon card Pokémon trading cards. Correct. Okay. And then can you just kind of give me a rundown on what we were observing? As we were going through video review of the other incident, during live surveillance simultaneously on the other monitor, we were looking at a individual coming into the store with selections of Pokémon cards in the toy aisle and then making their way over to the baby infant care aisle where there was another subject. And both subjects then had merchandise concealed under their cart. Right after making their way and meeting together with the other subject, white female, they both proceeded to exit out of the east side exit. Okay. All right, and then but at that that point you hadn't seen any concealment thus far. Correct. Yeah, we we just had the selection of the packs of Pokémon. Right. Okay, so and then you know, I went out there and made contact with them, you know, and cuz we weren't sure at that point if they were actually going to be, you know, related to the other shop that the subject was in what. And then while I was making contact with them, we had to determine that you you'd seen through this surveillance video by reviewing that that they'd concealed other merchandise. >> Correct. Okay, and what what else did they conceal? They concealed a lot more packs of Pokémon cards. The cards were then concealed under the baby stroller, on top of the baby stroller with the what looks like a blanket and then moved around. Yeah, they moved around on the cart. >> Okay, and then who who made those selections? That was the female subject. The female. Okay, so and she had walked in prior to the male actually walking in. Correct. Okay, and then he came in after and then walked out with her. Correct. >> And at that and at that point is when I made contact with them, you know, in order to identify them at that point. All right, and then the total value, do you have the a copy of the receipt in front of you? I do not have it. It's right there. Let me pull it up real quick. >> Okay, if you can pull it I can tell you the exact amount. I think it's 278. Something close to that. Still over $200. 288.86. >> That's 288.86. Okay, got you. Okay. So they attempted to steal 288.86 and then yeah, that's Have you ever seen them before? No, never. Okay, but they did have their 1-year-old child with them. I'm sorry, a child. They had a child. They had a child, okay. Uh Um and other than that, you know, do you want them trespassed from the location? We would. Okay. Um is it Do you guys have a separate form or Uh we would just do a verbal warning. Yeah, verbal warning. >> Um and then you guys obviously want to prosecute. Okay. >> I think I think that's pretty much it. Um you watched them pass all points of sale, obviously, and make contact. All right. Cool. Um you swear and affirm to tell me this now give me the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? Yes. Okay, cool. This is going to be Uh where's my Where's my notepad? All right, this is going to conclude the statement. Uh is there anything else that you'd like to add that I failed to ask you? No. Okay. So, just give me a Give me a run down of what So, you guys are stealing these for to sell them? Because you got a you got a ton of cards in there. You can't sell those. Yeah, we eat I'm kind of confused, man. Cuz that's like a Yeah, we a lot of them like the ones that >> and stuff. >> Yeah, they're not worth a lot. The ones that are in sleeves we have valued Oh, okay. I got you. >> We're we're $100 short of what our rent is. And that's why >> you. And how do you sell them? You just sell them locally? Yeah, OfferUp and stuff. Yeah, OfferUp or to a game shop. That's crazy. >> Yeah. Yeah, or to a game shop. They buy them immediately for cash. Okay, fair enough. All right. Um So, I don't like I'm I'm just going to leave the car. It's getting towed, okay? Because it was used in the commission of a crime. So, I'm not going to be forfeiting or anything like that, though. So, it's just going to be getting towed. General Towing. You guys can pick it up once you get out, okay? Okay, um is it going to cost us um money? Yeah, whatever whatever the cost is for the tow. But Okay. So, I have uh her mom's Judy's on the way to come pick up your your son William, okay? So, that's taken care of so we don't have to wait for DCF or anything like that. All right. Is there anything in that car besides Pokemon cards I need to be aware of, sir? Okay. So, I I sat down and when I did I I like really clicked these really really really tight. It hurt me really badly. I think it's really Pretty sure I double locked it. Thank you so much. >> course. It's really hurting. I tried not to Oh, you're good, man. All right. And is there anything in that car that's yours? No, sir. No? Okay, is that her car? Yeah, it's it's it's my fiance's car. Okay, so there's a uh Which one? This one or the other one? This this one. Both of them, honestly. If you look at my wrist, they're probably No, this is That was double locked. So, I don't I'm not sure I'm I think maybe you lifted it up like you you moved it down. Yeah. So, you remember I heard one of them click. That one or No, they're they're both double locked, man. But we'll we'll adjust them anyway. Did you hear that click when I when I turned it the first time? Yeah. They're both double locked. So, I think what it was is that you probably either you hit the plastic here. That's what I was like, when they click I'm like I've never not double locked the car. Is there any way I can give my son a kiss? We'll worry about that in a second, man. Um, so the other aspect of this man is that you're saying, you know, there's nothing else in the car. So, there's while I'm searching the the rest of the car and inside of a not only that we have a marijuana cigarette or cigar, right? That was on your side. Okay. So, I'll take responsibility for >> Well, I don't want you to take responsibility. Is it yours or is it hers? The marijuana cigarette is mine. Okay. So, that's fine. Um, and then uh there's a Milwaukee lunchbox. What's in the lunchbox? A Milwaukee lunchbox? Yeah, it's like I'm sorry. No, it's a it's a red it's a red lunchbox. I got to look at the color again. I think I'm mixing it up with the the glasses that I found in your drop down. So, it's a red lunchbox. Uh-huh. Is what's in that lunchbox yours? Um, actually we went on fishing earlier today with my niece and two of my friends and they left a lunchbox and a fishing pole in my car. But, >> So, why is it unzipped on the driver side? Um, I was I was I was supposed to bring it to them. But, that's what I'm saying. You can't drive the car with that on the driver floorboard. But, yeah. I was. But, it's unzipped and open. That's what I'm saying. Like that's weird. Yeah, I I Inside there we have pills and a pill bottle and a pill bottle. Yeah. No, sir. So, that's why I'm like, all right, obviously we got something else going on here. Yeah, no. So, the lunchbox isn't yours. No, sir. Is it going to be hers? No, it is not hers. Okay, so why was it unzipped and open? I I can't tell you why it was unzipped and open, but it was in the back seat when we got in to come here and I just moved it to the front seat with me because I was supposed to drop it off to my friend Jake's house. Okay. That and his fishing pole, which I left at my mom's. Got you. So, you just All right. Other than the marijuana cigarette or cigar rather, what do you have in >> Yeah, the marijuana yeah. Or the other than that, The bong is mine. Okay. Is there anything else? No, sir. Okay. So, I'm not going to come up with any other surprise. No, sir. Okay. All right, just grab with me. All right. And then oh, the um so what So, you guys I mean, obviously, I highly doubt Are you guys going to other stores and doing this? No, sir. So, how do you guys have so many Pokémon cards? No, I I've been collecting for years. >> That's what I'm saying, but these are all new cards, man. They're all like fresh out of the pack. >> Yeah, the ones that I have? The ones that are in there, yeah. Yeah, those those are I've If you see the sleeves in there, they're all sleeved up, well taken care of, fresh out of my binder. We were taking them to the game store, Prodigy. Okay. >> It's on Lantana and Congress. >> Lantana go there. >> You have to take Yeah, you have to take the cards out of the sleeve to bring them in. >> show them everything. Okay. Um and then what else? I think that's that's that's all I have, man. So, just bear with me and we'll uh we'll get this situated. Okay, is there anything in your pockets? Did he already search you? Remove everything? >> sir. Okay, cool. All right, you're free to go. All right, so Courtney, so let me talk to him. All right, besides your child being Is that Should No, okay. I thought she was looking at us. Okay, so besides um the stuff that we found in the backseat here, is there any anything else that belongs to Target? Not that I'm aware of, no. What's a yes or no? Like, you should be aware of what I mean, you just You decided to take those out of the Yeah, yeah, but no. No? Okay. Um is there anything in here that doesn't belong to you guys? That doesn't belong to us? >> Mhm. No. So, everything in this car would belong to you guys? Well, some of it's mine, some of it's his. Just depends Um did you Were you guys somewhere with some friends about fishing or something? Yes. Okay. Um did they leave anything in the car? They might have, yeah. Okay. What uh Who was driving when you guys got here? Um I was driving when we got here. Okay, and then you got and then he decided he wanted to drive? Yeah, and then he was going to drive, but I didn't know his license was suspended have it so >> Okay. No, that's that's that's fine. So, the There's a lunchbox on the driver's side floorboard. Is that yours? No, he just moved that over there when he got to the car. >> Okay, have you ever seen that lunchbox before? It's his lunchbox. Okay. So, it's his lunchbox. All right. >> Yeah, he takes it to work. Okay. But, I don't I don't mess with the lunchbox cuz he usually keeps it in the work truck. Okay. Uh do you guys have any kind of prescriptions or anything like that? Any what? Prescriptions. Like prescriptions. No, I don't. No. He don't that I'm aware of. So. Well, I mean, he is a young guy, so he >> I've been with him for 5 years, so nothing I'm aware of. He doesn't. Yeah. All right. So, if there's pills in that lunchbox, whose pills are those pills? Uh my guess would be his because I don't touch the lunchbox. He Like I said, he usually keeps it in the work truck. And he brought it with when we went um when we went fishing. Okay. But, I mean, I didn't When did you guys go fishing? Uh man, we left the house at like 3:30, 4-ish. Okay. We went fishing. Okay. And who went with you guys? Uh it was his It was one of his friends. I don't know their name. And then it was his niece Got you. um we took fishing because she was supposed to go back to Jacksonville today. Got you. But, that's That's it. Okay. That's all of it. And then his um his dad went with us, too. So. All right, honey. Oh. Yes, Gordon. Um I'm sorry. I just had a question. Um the There was pills in his lunchbox? No, I didn't start it yet. Okay. That's why I'm trying to figure out what's going on cuz obviously he's not just shoplifting at this point. You know what I mean? Yeah, well, I'm I'm just asking cuz I was I I don't I don't know anything about it. That's why I'm asking. Okay, no worries. that's what I was trying to find out. All right, sounds good. Yeah. Okay, they're not taking that to my baby. I don't appreciate No, we were going to leave the baby in the car and then hopefully your mom can meet the tow truck driver. What kind of question is that? Because you're asking why would you ask that question? >> Because my baby was still in the car and I was >> Obviously we're still searching the car. Just just sit there and listen to what's going on, okay? Just sit there. You don't need to keep asking questions, all right? >> Okay, I'm I'm If you're so worried about your baby if you were so worried about your baby, you wouldn't be doing this with your child. That's what the bottom line is. Okay, this was a mistake. It doesn't mean that I don't care about him. He's my son. Of course I care about him. And he's crying. Can I Okay, he probably dropped his bottle. Yeah, I'll get him a second. Yeah. Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, Courtney, I don't I don't see his bottle. If you want to come and look for it for me. That's my father-in-law right there. Okay. In the orange polo. All right, well if he's here then leave the child in there. We'll we'll turn him over. He doesn't have a seat back there. I'll turn the kid back over. You want to give him a kiss? Papa, thank you for helping. Mommy's so sorry. So sorry. All right, he's in his seat back in the car, okay? Can I get the baby? Yeah, yeah, so did um did Judy tell you? Yeah, I'm I'm Judy's husband. I'm Okay, perfect. All right. So, yeah, we're >> Can I get him so he stops crying? Yeah, yeah, that's what I was talking about. >> it. Absolutely. Thank you. Hi. What are you doing? Huh? What's going on? You see all the lights? They're so pretty. So, because of the results, I can't explain the nature of the case to you, okay? But, they are being arrested Okay. um you know, on a legal felony charge. Um who's being arrested? >> Both of them. Both of them? Yeah, both of them. They're both you know, they put their son at risk. Okay. All right. Yeah, I understand. >> I can't go into the full nature of it, but either way, they're they're both being transported to the jail tonight, and their car is being towed. Okay. All right. Yeah, I appreciate letting them come and get the I don't know for sure. I mean, again, we don't we don't want to keep the kid or anything else from, you know, from the parents and things like that. However, obviously, once you're arrested on the road, once obviously you start putting your child in danger, you know, so I completely understand. I'm sorry. Who are you sorry to? For being an idiot I know. How old is your kid? Huh? How old is your kid? He's a year old. You think that this is a good environment for him and the baby? I know. I just I know I I'm so I'm so I'm so I did it. It's just so I I don't I'm sorry. I don't I want to fix it. So, maybe you take this as a learning experience and you try and change your your lives around for the betterment of your child. Okay? Cuz if you look at your car, no child should be raised like this. What do you mean? It's disgusting. That's because I have I haven't had a chance to clean out my car.
