You do understand this is all on camera. Son of a sheriff. Sheriff. Sheriff. Sheriff. You're the one that's going crazy. We got a shot deputy. Sheriff. Yes, we do. This not the time and place. We'll take We'll get this take care of we'll deal with this on the back end. Told him to give me the gun. What if I told you that in the middle of a shooting scene while a deputy lay bleeding on the ground, the sheriff himself showed up and arrested the one officer who was saving that deputy's life. You You should know better than that, buddy. Really? Are you not trained by other than that? Don't touch me. Shut the you mother. What are you doing? You're the one. What are you doing? What are you doing? You stupid son of a That's not a hypothetical. It happened in Towns County, Georgia. Holy. We got a deputy shot. We're arguing out here. You don't touch me. Shut the you mother are you doing? And now the governor has ordered a full investigation into Sheriff Kenneth Henderson. Even the sheriff's own deputies couldn't believe what they were seeing. Sheriff, why did you pull a gun out for you stupider? What are you doing? Sheriff, please sheriff. Somebody get a weapon out of somebody. But it probably didn't surprise them because this was not the sheriff's first time starring in a viral video. It was December 2024 when Deputy Austin Bradburn was shot in the lake. Get me down the road. Hang on, buddy. We're coming. Amid the chaos, Hayawasi, Georgia police officer Jose Carvajal responded even though the scene was outside his city limits. Where you at? Where you hit? Which way do you go? Hey, we've got you. Which way? Straight. Awesome. We got you. We got you. Straight. Straight down. Straight. Officer Carvajal wasn't just a regular small town officer. He's a combat veteran who served in both the US Navy and the Army. When he arrived, he immediately went into battlefield triage mode, helping direct the use of a tourniquet to stop Bradburn's bleeding and called in the details on the suspect. Where you hit, we found it. Leg head. Go ahead and put that tourniquet on. All right. He's been hit in the left leg. But in the midst of the controlled chaos, something small set the stage for a major clash. Officer Carvajal accidentally picked up the wounded deputy's gun, mistaking it for his own. Realizing the mixup, he put the gun back in its holster. Then, on the advice from others at the scene, he secured the weapon in his waistband, intending to leave it untouched until the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrived. When the gurnie showed up, we started to pick him up. I stepped on the gun. Somebody said, "There's guns down here." here. So, I reached down thinking it was mine. Put it in my holster. Finished putting him on the gurnie. Realized it wasn't mine. Grabbed my gun. Took his out of my holster. Put it into his holster. Hey, got his gun. Yeah, that's his gun. It's in there. You take it. Power lines. I'll go. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Get the gun out. Took it out of his holster, stuck it in my waistband because I had already touched it. I already messed with it. I already kicked it. It was better for me just to leave it there until GBI showed up and relieved me of it. That's when Towns County, Georgia Sheriff Kenneth Henderson arrived. Sheriff, what are we just We're just coordinating the scene so that nothing else gets touched and nothing else happens. Listen to me. Move back out of the way. The body cam footage that was obtained by Atlanta News First investigates, which I'll link below, shows Henderson pressing Carvajal about the deputy's weapon. You got that gun? I do. It's right here. We moved it out of the way. I don't care why you moved it, bud. We moved it out of the way. Hey, the gun. Get the Carvajal, calm but firm, told Henderson that he wasn't going to touch the gun again until investigators got there. Then he turned to walk away, telling the sheriff to quote, "Get away from me. I'm not touching it again until GBI shows up." Unless you don't want to grab it, you can grab it. No, I ain't grabbing that. I'm not Yeah, I'm not anymore. Get you. You should know better than that, buddy. Really? Are you not trained by that? Let me get a pair of gloves. Get away from me. But Henderson didn't back down. Instead, he followed. put his hands on Carvajal and spun him around. Hey, don't tell me to get away. No, get him. Hey, don't touch that. Don't touch me. You listen. Don't touch me. Shut the you mother. What are you doing? You're the one. What are you doing? What are you doing? You stupid son of a sheriff. Why did you pull a gun out for you stupider? What are you doing? Sheriff, please. You know, somebody get a gloves on and get that weapon out with a set of gloves on somebody. Somebody get the gloves and get this gun from Multiple Deputies body cameras captured the moment. Shock spread across the scene. Deputies can be heard trying to hold back their own boss. Stunned that their boss, the sheriff, was escalating a confrontation with another police officer who had just been there saving a deputy's life. Holy, we got a deputy shot. We're arguing out here. You listen. Don't touch me. Shut the you little mother are you doing down there? You do understand this is all on camera. Son of a sheriff. Sheriff sheriff sheriff. You're the one that's going crazy. We got a shot deputy sheriff. Yes, we do. This is not the time and place. We'll take we'll get this take care of we'll deal with this on the back end. Told him to give me the gun. I'm going to stay right here. You better listen to me. Don't touch. Oh, I will touch you. I don't You want arrested? Go ahead. All right. You're going to get arrested. Put your hands behind your back. You're going to jail. Hold on a second. Let me go and put this camera on. Go ahead. Go ahead and get it on. Go ahead. Have somebody go ahead and do it. Yeah. Go ahead and have somebody arrest. You're arrested. I arrested you. All right. Come on. Turn around and put your car up here. Get this gun off this maniac. Come on. Hold. I'll hang it back up. Three or five towns. Just to let you know, 101 is placing me under arrest. Yes. 101's placing you under arrest. Let me go ahead. Let me go ahead and take this stuff off. Let me go ahead. Okay. Is placing me under arrest. Uh-uh. What? 305 just got placed under arrest. And when I told him we needed to get that gun out, he said, "I'm not being No, I didn't say that." Yes, you did. Hey. Yes, you did. Body camera, Sheriff. Go ahead. Come on. Hurry up. Put the cuffs on me. No, I didn't say that. That's exactly what What's What's nice is that it's all on body camera. It's all on body camera. I don't care if it's on body camera, buddy. And that was on my camera. I can't I That's ridiculous. That's the most ridiculous god I've ever seen in my life. That's what we're more concerned about. Not the shot deputy. And that right there just shows that's insane. The type of man, the type of leader. And Jose said, "I'm not going to do anything with the gun till the GBI gets here and then sheriff come after him and put his hands on him." Y'all seen the sheriff put his hands on Jose first, didn't you? That's what I saw. That's what I saw. I'm not lying. No. When when the GBI talks, that's what it's going to be. This is so wrong. I don't even know if that's the word. This is immoral. He's more concerned with the city of Hawasi than the guy shot deputy. It's the This isn't the first. This isn't the second time. This isn't the third time. He's more concerned with that department than he is about our own god safety. That's the leader I've ever seen in my life. Officer Carvajal spent more than 20 minutes handcuffed in the back of a patrol car before the sheriff ordered the deputies to release him without charges. Carvajal was also told that he had to leave the scene before GBI arrived. And it wasn't just the sheriff. Towns County Fire Chief Harold Copeland was captured on body camera suggesting that deputies get Carvajal to admit on camera that he picked up the gun, which is bizarre because he already did that several times. Copelan can be heard on the body cam video saying that it would help the sheriff on the backside with PR. I'd get him on camera and say, "Jose be be his best friend. Turn your camera on and let him make a statement as to what he did. Let him talk all that. It would help the sheriff on the backside. Let Jose on our camera say, "I picked the gun up, you know, let him admit that he picked the gun up from the crime scene." And this is where it gets even more bizarre, if that's possible. For the wounded deputy, Austin Bradburn, there was good news and there was bad news. The good news is that he made a full recovery. But the bad news is that he was later fired by the sheriff's office. Why was he fired? Well, filed criminal case documents show that Brad Burn was arrested in January for filing a false report of a crime. His arrest warrant alleges that, quote, "The accused claimed that he was in a struggle for his handgun with a perpetrator and the gun went off." This was apparently later refuted by his patrol car's laptop GPS data. The local prosecutor, Jeff Langley, confirmed that Brad Burn shot himself twice in the leg with his own gun. Fast forward to September 18th, 2025. Atlanta News First Investigates published that body cam footage on their YouTube channel. Less than 24 hours later, the Georgia Sheriff's Organization sent a letter to Governor Brian Kemp accusing Henderson of misconduct and asking him to appoint an investigative committee. On September 19th, he signed an executive order directing Attorney General Chris Carr along with Sheriff's Lynn Wood of Keta County and Ezel Brown of Newton County to investigate Henderson. By law, the governor has the power to suspend, remove, or even prosecute a sheriff if misconduct is proven. This wasn't Henderson's first clash with Hayawasi police. Back in 2022, Henderson interrupted one of their traffic stops, claiming that the officer was outside city limits. Inside the city or out here? Just right here. Okay. Go pull the video at But the Hayawasi officer pushed back saying video would prove the stop started in the city before spilling just across the city lines. You get on my traffic stop again, I will arrest you. Yeah, I'll arrest you. Do it, buddy. We're going to do it. charges ignorant. Do it. Oop. Do it. There's cameras at Vero and there's cameras at Napa that see pulled out. Shut your mouth. You don't talk to me like that. I'm not your boy. Can't talk to you, boy. You a boy. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Thank you. Thank you. 302 status check. That same year, a deputy secretly recorded Sheriff Henderson lashing out at his own staff for them merely eating lunch with Hayawasi city officers. On the recording, Henderson can be heard saying, "Let me ask you, are you going to hang out all the time with my enemies?" Let me ask you, are you going to hang out all the time with my enemies? All I'm getting from this is you don't want us to eat with Iowa CPD. But I don't want my people sitting with my damned enemies and and and being buddy buddy with my my damned enemies. Those kinds of words and actions painted a picture of a longunning hostility between Henderson's office and the city of Hayawasi Police Department. And as far as I know, we have a good relationship, working relationship. I that I don't know any problems. Governor Kemp has given the investigative panel 30 days to report back. The findings could lead to a suspension, removal from office, or even criminal prosecution. What do you think? Is this sheriff a hero fighting a corrupt power structure that is trying to silence him from serving the people of Towns County, Georgia, who elected him? Or is this an example of other law enforcement officers, including the sheriff's own deputies, doing their best to get rid of a bad apple, even an elected one? Maybe there's something more to the significance of a gun being picked up under the circumstances of this deputy apparently shooting himself twice in the leg with his own gun. I don't know because not much information has been released on that. But if nobody is above the law and we're all equal in the eyes of justice, why wasn't this sheriff arrested on the spot? He showed up out of uniform, acting out of line and actually acting consistent with being drunk. Perhaps he should have been asked like we're asked all the time. Where was he coming from? How many drinks have you had? Then witnessing him assault a police officer. Perhaps he should have been detained at that point and placed in handcuffs for his safety and theirs. You know, like they do to the rest of us. But maybe being his own deputies, maybe they were afraid of him. And if that's the case, hopefully they are coming forward to talk to the GBI and perhaps the FBI about what else has happened because there has to be more. This is an insane situation and I hope I hear more and if I do, I'll do an update and you can follow along by subscribing here and also at the blog at the civil rightsawyer.com.
