were you driving a Ford escapee last
night and the night before yes okay and
you were driving both vehicles yeah or
you were driving the vehicle both times
okay how did you go home last
[Music]
night if you've been following the news
in central Ohio recently you were
probably aware of this story about
whiteall police officer Brooke cono who
is fired according to whiteall police
chief Mike Lord farquad Crispen officer
cono lied about having probable cause to
make an
arrest the problem with this story is
that it's actually Chief Crispen who is
lying not the officer and I have the
video to prove it here's a news clip of
the chief trying to justify the
termination it's a little over 2 minutes
the whiteall police department is under
intense scrutiny right now from the
Fraternal Order of Police police and
city council the threat of an
investigation into the department is
imminent and chief Mike Chrisman is
under Fire for his leadership well
tonight the chief fired one of his
officers for wrongfully arresting a
woman but the police union says she was
targeted because she spoke out against
the department ttv's Carly Dion
explains it's the violation of
everything we stand for officer Brook
cono fired from the whiteall police
department after an extensive
investigation into allegations of
falsified evidence and documentation
whiteall police chief Mike Crispen says
the incident happened 2 months ago in
resulted in the wrongful arrest and
felony charges against an innocent woman
chrispen says the woman's mother filed
the complaint with the Department on her
behalf we realized immediately watching
what happened at the during the arrest
and what was reported in arrest didn't
match up and that initiated an
investigation for us according to police
documents officer cono falsely doc
mented a confession that never actually
happened in an official report her body
warn camera shows the arrest so what you
did is actually felony fleeing okay and
it's a felony charge and you'll have two
of them I have zero tolerance for
mistreatment of the community have zero
tolerance for lying and integrity issues
the Fraternal Order of Police which
previously issued a unanimous vote of no
confidence in Chief Crispen is outraged
by Officer koo's termination are
frivolous charges I've read the charges
they're saying lack of PC I've been a
cop not only a cop an inner city police
officer for 20 years he absolutely had
probable cause to affect that arrest so
I brought those claims to Chief chrisin
the fop is going to make allegations no
matter what we do over here they're also
claiming that officer Kana was dismissed
on frivolous charges what do you say to
that well if you think what I just said
was frivolous didn't that I suppose I
guess I would ask them do you think this
is frivolous when you take someone's
liberties from them when they didn't do
what you said they did fop Capital City
lodge number n president Brian steel
believes she was targeted for speaking
out against Chief Crispen but the chief
says they have to do their job to
protect the community from officers
doing what they're not supposed to do
whether cap city9 likes it or not we
will make sure our officers do not
mistreat the community so false
statements and an arrest without
probable cause now let's look at the
facts of the case as well as the body
camera footage and decide who exactly is
telling the
truth on October the 14th
2024 at approximately 11:44 p.m. officer
Brooke cono was on patrol when she
observed a fort Escape driving at a high
rate of speed she watched it as it drove
into the area of Stone Creek Apartments
remember that it'll come into play a
little bit later she advised other
officers of the vehicle and they
attempted to stop it as well but it fled
then at 1:00 a.m. on October the 15th
Sergeant bigs observed the same vehicle
attempted a traffic stop and once again
it fled but this time they were able to
get the vehicle's license plate later
that night at roll call officer cono
mentioned the vehicle that fled from the
officers the night before decided to
follow up at the registered address to
identify the driver at 10:51 p.m. she
identified the driver as Miss Tanager
Spears after talking to the suspect's
mother here is the body camera footage
of that conversation whyo
police hello hi hi is Lan here no he's
not okay is that his vehicle right there
that's the Ford Escape that's my vehicle
he's my son can I ask what's going on
he's your son son yeah that's my son all
right who is he the one that typically
drives this vehicle well my that's my
daughter she drives it she's at work
right now her name is natasi
years okay who was driving it last night
about
11:00 sorry about 1:00
1:00 that would have been Nat she just
got off work she just got off work where
do she work at um it depends well she
works at AR it just depends on where she
was cuz she she's 20 she be out
sometimes but yes ma'am but so at 1:00
a.m. she would have had the vehicle last
night okay and what about the night
before that about 11:30 the night
[Music]
before I she would have had it as well
she worked so me and she's not here
right now how did she get to work today
I took her to work today you took her to
work today
okay and you said she's 20 yeah is there
a phone number I can talk to her on well
she should be here in a little bit
what's a little bit um I say about 12 12
30 years since she up at AR mhm where on
in a wonderly lane in
Pickton how do you spell her first name
this is about yeah I'll tell you
everything just a second here what uh
what's her how do you spell her first
name n t ah H okay does she TP typically
uh does she typically have anybody with
her she take anybody home from work um
yes ma'am actually um a dude tried
killer um two years ago uhhuh and
Franklin Connie let let him out okay so
yes ma'am we make sure that she has
somebody with her so yes she always
usually have somebody with her
especially when it's like like that
anybody that lives in Stone Crest Stone
Crest Village
uhhuh I got to ask her exactly where her
friends live like I don't you know she
usually drive or did she let them Drive
she drive she drive she drive okay
listen I I appreciate you talking to us
the reason we're here lean has a very
minor traffic warrant um that's not the
biggest of the concern the biggest of
the concern is this vehicle has fled
from the police at 100 miles an hour two
nights somewhere up so oh and see I
don't that's a little bit of an issue
yeah of course of course that's that's
why we're
here about 40 minutes later October the
16th at 12:24 a a.m. offer cono met with
Miss Spears at Arby's where she works
and asked if she was driving the vehicle
in question on the dates and times that
it fled from the police Miss Spears not
only stated that she was driving the
vehicle but also gave the location of
one of the incidents here is the body
camera footage of that
conversation hello hi are you is it Nat
yeah Nat Nat okay I'm M start with White
Hall Okay so I just need to speak about
a couple of incidences that happened one
being last night one being the night
before were you driving a Ford Escape
last night in the night before yes okay
and you were driving both vehicles yeah
or you were driving the vehicle both
times okay how did you go home last
night how did I go home last night yeah
like which direction did you
take what do you mean what direction did
I take like what roads did you take home
Stone Crest you were in Stone Crest yeah
okay and which direction did you go
after you left out of Stone Crest um I
don't
remember you don't remember which
direction you
went okay I'm going to ask you to go
ahead and step out
here so what you did is actually felony
fleeing okay and it's a felony charge
and you'll have two of them with that
information officer cono placed Miss
Spears under arrest by admitting to
being the driver of the vehicle during
the times and at the location of the
fleeing incidents Miss Spears gave
officer cono probable cause necessary to
file the charge for
fleeing now Chief farat accused offer
cono of making an arrest without
probable cause to analyze this let's
take a look at the definition of
probable cause and compare it to the
information that officer cono had at the
time she arrested Miss Spears to
establish probable cause police officers
must be able to cite objective facts or
circumstances that led them to believe
the suspect committed a crime officer
cono was looking for the driver of a
vehicle that fled from the police in two
separate incidents she found the owner
of the vehicle who stated her daughter
Miss Spears was the driver she then
asked Spears if she was driving the
vehicle during the times it fled this
Spears stated that she was and also
provided the same location of one of the
fleeing incidents without being prompted
would a reasonable officer believe that
Miss Spears was the driver of the
vehicle when it took off from them the
answer is obviously yes officer cono had
probable cause to place Miss Spears
under
arrest Chief Crispen and his cronies at
the whiteall police department are lying
and playing word games to to justify the
termination of good officers with
officer cono they base their entire case
around one line in her report where she
misspoke by writing I asked her are you
the person that fled from officers on
both nights they're also claiming that
officer Kana was dismissed on frivolous
charges what do you say to that well if
you think what I just said was frivolous
didn't I iess suppose I guess I would
ask them do you think this is frivolous
when you
no Chief chrisen I don't believe these
accusations are frivolous I believe
they're chicken [ __ ] and you are a
corrupt little
coward she didn't use those exact words
during the interview but it's clearly
what she meant when she was asking the
questions she also didn't use quotation
marks in her report which would lead a
reasonable person to believe that wasn't
meant to be an exact transcription of
the
conversation regardless of that one line
in her arrest report officer cono
clearly established probable cause prior
to making the arrest Chief Crispen knows
this and he's lying about it were you
driving a Ford Escape last night and the
night before yes okay and you were
driving both vehicles yeah or you were
driving the vehicle both times okay how
did you go home last night did you take
home Stone Crest you were in Stone Crest
yeah okay but why would Chief crisen Li
about this it's because he's getting rid
of any union rep who has the stones to
stand up to him and call him out on his
[ __ ] he is a tyrant who rules by
fear officer cono like officer Ortega
fired a few months before were both fop
Union reps who has a normal circumstance
of their position with the Union found
themselves at odds with Chief Crispen as
punishment for standing up and doing the
right thing
they were
fired every officer currently working
with the city of whiteall should
immediately start looking for a new job
do not turn a blind eye to the open air
corruption happening in your department
I know you can't speak up because you're
afraid of being fired but you can leave
so you don't have to endure what
officers Ortega and officer Connor have
been forced to go through your mental
health your well-being and your ability
to feed your family and keep a roof over
their heads is more important than
putting up with a little Tyrant like
Mike Crispen if whiteall police chief
Michael Crispen was being honest when he
said that he has zero tolerance for the
mistreatment of the community and zero
tolerance for lying and integrity issues
he would resign
leave that
