a repeat shoplifter Takaya young you
might recognize that name because she
was shot and killed by a police officer
on August the 24th
2023 when she hit a police officer with
her vehicle while he attempted to place
her under arrest for
shoplifting the shoplifting incident for
today occurred on October the 14th
2022 officers with the Columbus Division
of police were driving by a dollar
General Store on Parson's Avenue when
they observed two females running out of
the store carrying a lot of merchandise
one of the females was later identified
as Takaya young Miss Young was charged
with petty theft and had her charges
dismissed as part of a diversion program
touted by Columbus City attorney Zach
kleene who stated the program is in
place to help those who steal out of
need for the basic necessity
