The woman's evasive answers during the investigation raised red flags while officers searched for evidence. >> Right now, if you don't mind, >> listen to him. All right. These are your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you think may be used against you in the court of law, you have the right to talk to an attorney and have him appear with you. Now, >> hey, 11 on two. >> We've got our 1012. Uh, got her out of the bathroom. Told her she was lawfully detained. Went into the bathroom. Um, >> who's [snorts] your friend? >> Who's my friend? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Um, her name is Rachel. >> Rachel? Yes. Rachel? I don't know anybody named Rachel. What's her last name? >> I don't know. She's redhead. Uh, she tricks. >> She tricks. >> Yeah. >> Goodness gracious. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> That's why I gave that to to the woman. I was like, I don't I I you know. >> So So you left there, right? Yes, I did. And 15 minutes later, some other guy called and said that you were at their place. >> No, I stopped at um the house. I can show you the house. It's right here. To take my hoodie and everything off. >> All right. But what happened down the street when you left that lady? >> Did that lady come for >> I left her with that? Well, see the the problem with that is Miss Miller is that you're here all by yourself. And guess what? >> All this discarded property in the trash that we're allowed to go through >> is all the addresses that we were just at. >> So, this is mail from all that stuff. All them places >> that was out of the bag that was like I had already had on me. >> Yeah. >> So, yeah. I don't have a problem being honest with you, right? >> Yeah. I appreciate it. I have. >> So, what were you doing with this stuff? >> Um, we were supposed to be heading to Eighth Street. >> 8th Street? >> Yes, sir. >> We're on Eighth Street. >> On State. >> Hey, Laura. You got more gloves on? >> What? >> You got gloves on you? >> Yeah. >> More gloves. >> Oh, I got I'm sorry. One more time. I couldn't hear you over the stinking radio. >> I guess that big happened. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> So, like Okay. But for like what purpose? >> Oh, you guys got paid to to go get it. >> I know what this is. >> I don't know where >> I know what it is. >> Miss Miller, have a seat with me. >> Okay. Let me have you stand up real quick and then we'll sit you back down. I apologize for the inconvenience. >> We need to take your sunglasses off just for a second. I know it's bright out here, but Well, not quite yet. >> Um my phone. I know I'm going to have to have um a number to get bonded out. Yeah, you can you can get your phone and go with it. >> Get a bond, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Hey, so as you come on passenger side, please be here in a moment. >> So, you were you and this girl Rachel were paid by somebody to to bring it to the house on 8th Street. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Who paid you? >> Um, he has a red >> of red. >> Red. >> Red's like the theme of the day. So, you got Rachel with red hair. You got red hair. And Red paid you to do it. >> I have red streaks, but yeah. >> Okay. All right. Stand stand over a little bit. I'll tell you let me tell you something real like >> right now you're the one who got caught with all this stuff. >> All right. So this way for me, >> huh? >> After searching the woman's bag, officers discovered several suspicious items that raised immediate concern. >> Go ahead and get your phone. So what now? I'm sorry. You were saying about the mail. You opened it for what now? >> Um and then there's some more in my hoodie that hasn't been opened. >> Oh yeah, I can see it right there. Okay. Um, >> so how much were you going to get paid for this stuff? >> Um, I was supposed to get paid $200. >> And then Rachel the same or she getting more? >> I don't know. >> I do know that the the house up there had got raided here recently. >> Why is some of it thrown away and some of it's not thrown away? Okay, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there. The only problem is is that all the surveillance footage that we obtained in the last hour from all these areas >> only show you, Miss Miller. They don't show any other redhead or anybody else with you. >> Is also going down the road and getting I got the bag from her before I even got down that before I even started going down those Daytona apps, sir. And this is my uh friend I don't want to lose her bike cuz she's going to kill me if I do. >> Oh, this was used in this was this was used in the commission of an incident right now. >> Yeah. So, yeah. No, >> my sunglasses in my my Mount. >> Yeah, you can put your sunglasses back. >> I'm sorry. >> I'm trying to be as >> helpful as pos. Listen. So, what that's looking like to me is it's looking like it's just you. >> No, I can I will be willing to >> there. Laura, take a picture of this. >> Miss Miller, can you do me a favor now? We can have a seat. You can rest yourself. I'll help you down. >> Yep. Uh, they are in >> Okay, I'll get them for you. >> Yeah. And sorry, >> lighter in there. >> No, the lighter is right there. >> All right. Yellow one. >> Yes, sir. >> Right here. Okay. >> Yes, sir. I'll help you down. >> All right. Thank you. >> It' be the most helpful thing to you right now because what we're dealing with is some pretty pictures that I'm telling you. >> Um, >> this looks bad. >> The only The only thing I'm asking is if I was to >> I'm not going through the rest of this. >> It's all >> That was the one I went down. >> It's all in the that the whole area. It'll put my life in danger. >> It'll put your life in danger to to what? >> Mention associates or names. >> Well, let me tell you something. I'll tell you this right now. I mean, whether you do that or not, this is what we have >> with you. So it's I mean at the end of the day like that's what you're you're looking at pretty serious [ __ ] right now. Yes, sir. >> No, we're going to see if we can package it up small enough to bring it out there. >> Can you can you call my dad? >> Well, we'll get to all that. We're very very beginning. You're going to be spending some time with us, Miss Miller. So, we'll get we'll get to all that fun stuff here in just a moment. >> Officers confirmed the materials, collected information, and assessed the situation before moving forward. Who's your boyfriend? >> Huh? >> Who's your boyfriend? >> David Ortiz. >> I don't know. Is he [snorts] local? >> He's the reason I got clean. >> You got clean. And why you doing this for money and not seeking a real job? >> Um, I printed job applications and I'm not going to lie, relax. So >> Oh, sweet. >> Yeah, my dad >> on Hard. What's What's your flavor? Meth. >> Meth. Um, my dad died last night. So, >> Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. >> And after all this is done, you could call my dad and let him know that I'm going to do it. >> I thought you said >> he's my stepdad. >> Okay. I was going to say I thought you just said he just died. >> He's my street He's basically my street dad down here. My >> street dad. >> Yeah. >> What's his name? >> Uh, John uh Whitman. >> What does a street dad mean? >> Somebody that looks out for me. >> He's not He's not selling you out or nothing, is he? Is it going to be several charges in one or is it just going to be one big charge? >> Probably just going to lump it into one big one. >> Depends on how many, but now it'll be one one charge, but there may be multiple counts. >> Um, I have a reason I would like to call either my boyfriend or my or my dad to come and get it. Yeah, just use the verify identity code or or criminal investigation. Doesn't matter. >> Can I try to turn it on and see if it'll turn on by >> this one? >> Yes, sir. >> Let's take a quick peek. >> I'm just trying to get >> Where's the power button on this sucker? >> Side right there. >> Right here. Okay. >> I don't want to do whatever because I don't want to go by myself. >> Well, that's something we can talk about. It looks like it's turning on. We'll see what kind of power we got. Okay. And I also hate to ask, um, the hair tie I have in my hair, is it solid black? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Not the big one around my head, but the one that's in the ponytail, cuz >> it looks all black. >> Okay. Cuz if not, can I have the one that's on the ground? Cuz they won't give me a hair tie. >> We'll see. >> But you said I will get them on >> most likely. I'll have to look. >> We'll cooperate and help. >> That's something we'll talk about later. Okay. But we will have that conversation or somebody will have that conversation >> before I go to the jail. >> We'll see. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Would you call you guys can't call somebody who can? >> It's not in your best interest right now. Tell you the truth. If you're if you're talking about providing substantial assistance later on, it's probably better we keep all this to ourselves, right? But >> I am going down. >> Oh yeah. Miller was charged with theft, possession of stolen mail, and related offenses. One woman is caught with stolen mail from a bathroom trash can. The next case starts with a body in a trash barrel and ends at the airport. >> Grab the mop thing and just push the plastic aside and saw the blood and the y >> the yellow stuff. >> A neighbor reported a strong and lingering odor from a residence on April 22nd, 2024, prompting police to respond. 61 to 40. Yeah, I need you ASAP. So, what do you think it is? >> I mean, I saw I thought it was >> Did you see anything that would indicate that? >> It just looks like skin to me. I mean, I saw the blood. >> Hey, I think it is. So, it's in a trash bag and there's a hand hanging out of it. So, I'm pretty sure it's body. I haven't got looked close enough, but it's definitely a hand that's hanging out of a trash can. Yeah. So, just stay out here for now, [snorts] please. >> Yeah. >> Where did the gentleman go that was here? >> I'm not sure. But >> he left at 9:00 this morning. >> He was supposed to have moved out as of yesterday. She said he stayed last night. >> And where did he go? >> I don't know. He went across the street. He told the girl that he was going to go to the food bank. And then probably around, I don't know, maybe around 1:30, he circled around the the neighborhood because I had the guy come and fix my heat and I was outside. So, if she came over, she told me that he was circling around the neighborhood. Well, he's around somewhere, but I don't know. I have any idea where. It's been sticking all over my apartment and I didn't have no garbage in it. Today, the hallway stunk. I opened the front door and it's like, where the hell? And then I opened the side window the other day cuz it was nice out. I smell garbage, so I freaking shot it. >> When did you uh notice the smell? >> Uh probably last week for sure. Um this weekend I was gone and I came back home Saturday and it smelt like garbage. Last week in the middle of the week when it was nice, I'd open the window. I could smell it. >> Ma'am, I'll give this back to you in in a momentary. I got to talk on the phone for a second. I'm pretty positive I have a body in a trash can that's over a week. It is like completely decomposed. >> Have you been in there? >> Yes. >> Is there a body in there? >> I'm pretty. >> Okay. Yeah. Don't go in there again. I'll call him back. I'm going to go in there. After entering the unit, investigators found a chilling sign of something sinister in a trash barrel, prompting them to question the neighbor. >> Yeah, it's looks a body to me. No one comes in here. Get his information. Wrote this off. Do you have the victim's information or who do you think it is? >> I don't have no idea who that is. >> The guy, he's still out on the street out and about. Who Who resides here? He was here today, right? The guy >> left at 9:00. >> Yeah. Who's the gentleman? >> Who is it? What's his name? >> His name is Taniel. >> Who? Does he stay with somebody or >> No, it's just his apartment. >> What What race is he? >> Black. >> He's black. >> He's like 6'4, like 350. He's a big guy. >> I uh I'll get all I got all the information coming my way. >> Yeah, he's been they've been here for because about a month ago he destroyed the whole laundry room. I had to call them. >> Who's they? >> Him. Okay. >> I'm not sure it's not. >> It's not him. >> It's not him. >> No, it's somebody else. >> Get their story, Brent. One step at a time. >> So, I'm going to have to gather all the information I can from you. Okay. What time did you come here? >> Um, today I've been on site since >> No, no, I mean into this room. >> Uh, right after Let See, when I called you guys, it was like 5 minutes before that. I called 911 at 3:47. So, it was probably like 3:40. >> He was taken out of here like 2 weeks ago by ambulance, I think. >> So, he was taken by ambulance. >> Yeah. And he was gone 2 weeks and he came back this >> So, was he is he ambulance right now? >> No, this was >> He's got his own vehicle. >> Oh, he has his own vehicle. Do you know what he drives? >> Uh, no. That's I don't know why. >> Okay. So, when you got here at 3:40, you went in here? >> Yeah. I've been on site all day, but I went in there at 3:40. >> And then when did you noticed the smell? >> She had been complaining about the smell. She mentioned it, I think. >> Did you Was it by text or by uh phone call? >> The smell? Yeah. >> I saw her on Friday. >> She was having a heating issue, so I stopped by. >> You noticed the smell on what date? >> I came home Saturday and it smelt like garbage or whatever. And then I left Sunday to go to church. And when I came back, it still smelled. I didn't have any rubbish in my house. >> So when did you first notice the smell [snorts] >> in my apartment? >> Yeah. >> Saturday. >> You said you spoke to her on Friday. >> No, but I smelled >> Oh. Oh, I guess I talked to you yesterday. That's when you called me for the >> Yeah, I called you. I texted you yesterday. >> Yeah, I thought you told me last week. >> I mean, I called Jenny yesterday. Texted her. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Because he was throwing his mattresses over there behind the house over there and my heat was broken. So I I called him up and said like he's throwing his mattresses over the the banking over there and my heat don't work. >> What did she tell you on Sunday? >> She just said she'd noticed the smell. >> I can smell it right now. That smell right I can smell right now. That's the smell I could smell in my apartment. >> But he was still here yesterday. So >> he was still moving out. >> He slept here yesterday >> last night. >> He's been sleeping here all week. >> How you doing? This is Lieutenant Green Greenfield Police. How are you? We have a possible It could be a home scene in Greenfield. Uh, I need the on call SPDU guy to give me a call or her, whoever it may be. Uh, it was a welfare check. Uh, looks like to be a guy uh in a trash barrel stuffed inside. That's all I have so far. Could be a scene. >> Okay. >> All right. So, I got I already called state police. They're going to call me back. No one goes inside that place at all. >> Do we know who it is? >> I don't know yet. I don't want to touch it cuz they're stuffed into a trash bag. So >> Oh, that's Daniel. >> Yeah, but it's not him, I guess. >> Oh, boy. >> You went in today? >> Yeah. I found called in. >> Yep. And you're the only person who's been in there >> as far as I know. >> Where did you go inside? >> I walked past into the bathroom and I was going to start taking pictures of the damage. Yeah. >> Then I did notice the smell was strong. She had mentioned that there was a like a mop thing on the side cuz I noticed the the bag and the trash can. I grabbed the mop thing and just pushed the plastic aside and saw the blood and the y >> the yellow stuff. >> Can you show me the bottom of your feet? I'm just Okay. Show me the other one. >> Okay. Thank you. Witnesses provided descriptions of the man, intensifying the tension as officers compiled vital information for the next steps in the investigation. >> Do you know who he stays with or who stays with him? >> A tall guy who rides a bike. I don't know exactly his name. >> Is his bike here? >> Uh, no. It's usually parked right. >> Who Who rides the bike? The guy that owns or rents the place or the >> the guy who hung out with the guy who rents the place. He has a car. >> Oh, he has a car. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> He was actually uptown a little while ago. a first name for that guy that he stays with on the bike. >> I don't I don't He's just He's one homeless guy. I know that. >> Homeless guy. Okay. >> I do know that he always had like tall like taller probably a little taller than uh my land. Backpack like a winter hat and rides a bike. >> Is he white or? >> Yeah, white. >> Have you seen the guy on the bike at all? Who's the guy that lives there in the apartment? >> The guy who lives there, he was at the Salvation Army at 11:00. >> Okay. And then the guy on the bike, he was uptown around probably, I don't know, I came back down from >> Uptown today. >> Yeah, today. Probably like 12:31. When I came back down, he was uptown uh by um the uh bleaches. >> You're positive you saw him today? >> Yes. Okay. >> Yes. When I seen the the person living there, he was in his car. He uh no shirt on, no shoes on, just a pair of pants, and he was like sweating. How long's the guy on the bike been staying there >> off and on? Probably a month. >> There was a guy on a bike that was staying with the guy who own who's what's the first name of the guy that owns it? >> Taniel. >> Some guy on a bike was helping you pick up the yard or something like that at some point. >> He is not helping me do anything, but he and Daniel maybe were the ones cleaning that stuff up there. >> Do you know who that what his name was? >> Oh, the guy with him. >> Yeah, >> I just know his name is Mark. >> Did you guys see Mark coming out of here today? >> No, he hasn't been hanging around here. >> No, just Daniel. I don't think it's the homeless guy that's in the barrel, but it's hard to tell cuz it looks like a pretty good decomp on it. And that guy has been seen today downtown, so highly unlikely. Hey, I just sent you the pick. You're looking at a probably a torso and some pants, but it looks almost look like a tumor on the side or something like that, too. I just want to make sure you get everything out you want before I go in there and clean it up. So, I wrote, "Do you need any help? I just want to make sure that you get everything you want out before I clean. When will you come here and get the rest of your stuff?" And then he sent some audio thing. Can you just send that? >> Send this first. >> Yeah. And then listen to that. Contact GPD. But this is not a single officer approach with extreme caution. >> Yeah. He texted it back. What did he say? >> That other thing he sent was just him showing me the checks that he had. >> Okay. Can you handle I've been slugging away with Can you take screenshots? Can you just email me those screenshots [snorts] and every new one that comes in? Can you check inhouse for the recent calls that were here? And then there's he had somebody that was here with him. It's a male fellow. We dealt with him before. or loge and Granger been on calls with him on Chapman Street when he was wrestling outside of Smitties. Any call involved him disturbance uh fight or something like that where there's a second male. No stress. Just take your time. Look with the pants and all that stuff. It looks like it to me. Oh, I mean the hand. >> Yeah, the smell. >> Yeah, >> but I want other officers here. >> What do you mean? No, meaning if he shows up, you can kind of disappear as long as we can get a hold of you. You hear what I'm saying? >> Yep. >> Okay. Thank you. If any pertinent information like comes, call Greenfield dispatch so they can relate like like if he's on his way or something like that where it's >> The investigation was heightened when investigators found Daniel at the airport and questioned him about the mysterious apartment. >> Hey Tan, >> how's it going? >> Good. How are you? You remember me? >> Hello. >> I'm a police officer from Greenfield PD. >> Oh, okay. Yeah. >> We're a little ways from home. >> Yeah, a little bit. Uh, >> what are you doing out here? >> Oh, I thought I'd go home. Thought I'd visit my mom, you know, and been a while, so I figured >> Where's mom? Oh, Vancouver Island, you know. I flew about there in September. >> Did you already grab a ticket? >> Yeah, it's uh it's already booked. >> Oh, nice. >> When did you get to the airport today? >> I mean, I spend a lot of my time just mostly just driving around. >> Yeah, >> since I got a car. That's what I do most of the time as I was just drive. I drive for no reason. I get lost. I got lost in like uh all the surrounding towns. Heathrow, Colin, Conway. >> Oh, yeah. We're familiar with those towns. Did you have a residence in uh Greenfield >> temporarily? Yeah, the VA put me there, but I hated it. Hit my head on the ceiling all the time. So, I pretty much was never there. It had been broken into a lot, too. Like, >> last time I was there sometime in like I don't know, January or something. >> So, what address were you living at in Greenfield? >> Hard for hard for me to remember. I I really don't go there. I I mean, I I haven't been there in a long time, like months. Uh I've been mostly at the other location. >> When's the last time you could remember actually being at your old place? Like if I ever even came by, it'd be like just throw something in there cuz I thought, "Oh, this is cool." And I closed the door. >> Have you talked to the building owners at all recently? >> No. >> Where abouts were you at today? Like what were you up to? >> I went to I was at my cabin. I kind of putter around. I don't really do much. I like to wheel, >> so I was kind of up there seeing what the car could do. >> Did you come to Greenfield at all? >> No. >> Dan, do you know if anyone's been at your house in Greenfield for anything? >> I don't think so. I mean, anybody could have broken in there is a lot of people would have >> the stuff you were just talking about, Tan, the like the mattress and the box spring and stuff. Where was that from? >> A lot of stuff is just found. >> You found it. >> Most things like there wasn't anything in there that I purchased. >> I just would walk around the city overnight and if I found like a cool bike or something. >> Right. But you were saying that like you needed to move some stuff out of somewhere and move it into your storage unit and you needed some more time to get your stuff out. Whereabouts are we talking about? >> Oh, I don't know. I mean, usually at my dad's there's like a couch or something. It's that 10 High Street in uh Turner's Falls. Got to get a bunch of stuff and bring it to um my storage unit. It's my grandma's couch from um I don't know, like 2015 or something. >> Do you have any thoughts on why we came all the way to Albany to talk to you? [snorts] >> No, >> nothing at all. >> No. >> Well, I mean, obviously you know that we're from Greenfield and you know where you are now, right? >> The vet center. >> You're saying you're at the vet center right now? >> Yeah. >> Do you know what building this is? Yeah. >> What is it? >> I was going to go visit my mom. >> Like before we talked about you were saying you were going to take a flight, so you know this is an airport. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Is there a reason why you wouldn't be telling us the entirety of the truth? >> So Tan, every time that we got on to one of those subjects like when I started talking to you about like you were moving stuff out, we know you were moving stuff out of the apartment. We saw the stuff, you know, the mattresses and the box springing, you know, behind the apartment near the dumpster, stuff like that. I can't put stuff in the dumpster cuz uh I was told not to. >> Probably not supposed to put mattresses in there cuz it cost a lot of extra, >> right? >> Do you think that there's a reason why we we might have been over at your apartment today? >> I don't think so. >> Did you have any agreement with the landlord as to when you'd leave? [snorts] >> Yeah. >> When was that day? >> I mean, I should have been gone. >> No, but I mean specifically there there was a day, right? >> I wonder what's going on. >> We want to figure out what's going on as well. >> Were you staying at that house with anybody or that apartment, I should say? No, I have my cabin. I've been in my cabin. I haven't been. No. >> Do you know of anyone that may have been staying at at the apartment, >> sir? No, sir. I do not. >> Who have you have been in contact with in the last week or so? Any friends? >> No, just my mom and dad. >> Is there a reason why people would put you at your apartment within the past week or so and say that you were that they saw you there moving property out? >> Well, I mean, I would do like a smash and drop. It would be like if there was a time when I had a minute or something, I'd be like just run. >> Initially, he refuted the claims and concocted a narrative. But as the officer detailed the materials, his responses grew more ambiguous, heightening the concern. >> Apartment 309 there. So basically, when the year came up, that's where I've been. That's where I've been living. >> Except for the lease that we just talked about with Joshua. >> Well, that ended in like November. Do you remember staying in Greenfield last night at all? >> No. >> So, you didn't sleep in your car in Greenfield last night? >> No. >> Had you been in a relationship recently with anyone, >> sir? No, sir. >> Do you spend time with someone on a regular basis? Do you have any friends that are close to you that you spend time with? >> Sir, no, sir. I mean, I read books. I go to meetings. >> So, wait, you you said that you you do hang out with some homeless people sometimes, though. >> I've gone to a couple job sites. >> What's the person's street name that you met there? I don't know their actual names and I don't know their last names. Then there's Mark who's like 48 from like Leiden and his mom kicked him out just like I've been kicked out. >> Another thing I want to ask is obviously I'm just as we're sitting here talking to you and I just make observations. I'm a very observant person as you can tell. I noticed that your clothes are ripped. Is there a reason for that? >> I hike in the woods a lot. >> Do you feel comfortable talking with us? Like do you feel like you could be honest with us? >> Yeah. like the detective here said, like we kind of feel like we're hinting around it and it seems like every time you go to acknowledge it, you change the subject and that when you divert from a subject like that, it's kind of like one of those things that like we kind of have some information and we would really really like to figure out what's going on and I would really appreciate if you could be more honest with us. We know accidents happen to people all the time and if something happened, I would really hope that you would feel comfortable talking to us about it. There was somebody um that was found hurt inside of uh the Chapman Street address. >> Okay. >> Um we got reports from several of your neighbors that they saw you there recently. You seem like a really nice, pleasant guy. I think that something happened. There was an accident. Maybe you were defending yourself. I don't know. That that's what we're here to to speak with you about. >> Hey, Mom. Here's Tan. Just wanted to uh talk to a few of these guys. Yeah. You know, serve, protect, defend. >> Oh, being woken up. Someone calling through the window. Scary. Of course. >> You know, and and then getting hit to the point of if [snorts] I get hit more, I'm going go into defense mode. >> Did you know who it was, Tan? >> No. >> Do you know who it is now? >> I have no idea. I really have no idea. >> I can tell you what, Tan. If somebody broke into my house, you know, it would be a fight for sure. We're trying [snorts] to figure out maybe if we know who this person or we'll start with when when it happened. >> And we just want to know why you acted why you did so that we can figure out, you know, >> did this guy startle you? It sounds like you were startled or >> pure defense. I mean, being beaten. I was just being punched to the point of of living and I was punching my ribs, punctured my heart, punctured my lung. >> Do you have some injuries on you? >> I I did. I I had shown my my dad and um Amy, she's a nurse. I'm still recovering from that. I had never been in that much pain. Somehow I remember like being so exhausted and then being like, "Oh man, what just happened?" didn't know if he was looking for money. Didn't know if he was looking for like electronics or something. If everyone had already taken electronics, I'm assuming that's what they're looking for. And feeling so helpless and scared and afraid. You can't say anything to anybody. It's just like I don't know what the hell to do. I [snorts] figured, oh, if I slept on it, I'd wake up and I'd figure out something or my dad or my mom or somebody. >> So, what did you see when you woke up to >> something bad, right? But not intentional. >> Not intentional. >> Did you do anything in between then and now? >> No. >> Did you move them? >> No. >> So, what's the code on that? >> You were scared of Tan, right? >> Yeah. >> I'm assuming, you know, do you wake up and find somebody in your apartment and hurt at least more? When people get nervous, they panic. It It happens. And you got to make a decision, but it's not always an easy one to make, you know. >> Hey, Tan, is there a reason why you didn't call the police over this? >> I didn't have a phone for the longest time. I found this today. >> Mhm. >> Where'd you find it? >> Underneath the car seat. >> In your car or? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So, after you woke up the next morning, did you notice anything about him? >> No, I know exactly what I did. I woke up and I went to um the car dealership to uh realign my tires. I continued my life. Just avoided, >> you know, somewhere where I felt unsafe. >> So, do you know who this person is, >> sir? No, sir. Following the intense interrogation, officers swiftly detained Daniel and proceeded with the necessary processing. >> Do you remember anything distinctive about him? >> Punching hard, ribs hurt, ribs if hurt more, can't breathe, [snorts] heart stops is what I remember. >> Was he a black guy or a white guy? >> Uh, African. >> After the incident, you went got your tires rotated. When you went back, was the guy still there? This is where things get weird cuz um I'm not the only person that was going inside of there. For a long time, I lost my keys. Like I said, I was in the hospital for the last few weeks. >> What hospital again? I'm sorry. >> Arbor. >> So, if we went there and looked up medical records and stuff, it would show that you were there recently. >> Yeah, for the entire last few weeks. I know I asked you about when you returned to the house if you saw that person still there and then you had mentioned that there's multiple people in and out of your apartment. >> There was. Yes. There's >> Do you know any of >> I don't know any names. >> Did you have any barrels in your apartment? >> No. >> Trash barrels? >> Trash barrels? >> No. >> Tan, remember how we said that we talked to the landlord and the neighbors and stuff? Well, they said you were there last night and you've been there quite a bit recently. >> I was sleeping in my car. Yep. Sleeping in your car, moving stuff out of the apartment. Kind of like you indicated before when we were trying to figure out what the address was, right? >> Trying to stuff out >> so Josh could have the apartment back and you were going to move out and stuff. >> That was what we agreed to do. >> Right. So, in the process of moving all that stuff out, did you have a plan to clean the apartment out completely? >> I don't know. If I had an answer, I'd say something. >> Okay. What's the best way to say, "Hey, captain, this is what Tan said happened." >> It was a home invasion. Yep. >> I was attacked. He used a butter knife to get in through the air conditioner. I defended myself. That's best I could do. >> But my captain's next question is going to be why was he found the way he was in the manner of which he was. >> Is there a reason why he was placed into those bins? >> Sure. Sure. Is it fair to say that maybe you didn't know who it was when they broke into your apartment, but after you realized what had happened, you recognized them? >> Sir, no, sir. >> So, why would you want to honor their body then? >> I want them to do the same for me. >> Just a random stranger you don't know that tried to commit a crime against you. >> I feel like the fish are out of water cuz this thing has never happened. >> So, the plastic in the barrel and stuff, that was part of the tradition. That's how you honored him. I don't know who was there or when or why or how. I know many have been in there and I know they've taken electronics. I don't know what else they've done. >> We know that we've already talked about the fact that you were in a physical altercation with someone who you felt was breaking into your house and assaulting you and something happened and that person is no longer alive. So during that time you were involved in the physical altercation. >> I saved my own life >> and you didn't recognize him from anywhere, >> sir. No sir. It seems like your pants are pretty dirty and your your shirt might be a little bit dirty. >> Oh, yeah. I know. I mean, I just I I walk around in the woods a lot. I'm a woodsman. >> Dan, the reason I asked about the pants is is because, you know, after a while things start to stink in your apartment, right? Like they start start to smell bad. Like stuff is not healthy inside of the apartment. And then it smells very similar to that right now. >> Like I said, I have troubles or I have issues. The DMH is trying to help me with that with showering and shaving and brushing teeth and flossing teeth. >> Do you think maybe some of the some of the smells or liquids from the apartment could have got on your pants? >> I think just washing clothes and drying clothes is just something I'm not good at. We're going to be able to review some of the surveillance cameras from the neighboring buildings and see exactly who goes in there and you know like when you were there last and you know this alleged incident that you're saying when they came in through the window, things like that. Do you feel like what you've what you've said is what we're going to review on the surveillance footage? >> Yes, sir. I do. >> And do you feel like all the things that like you saying there's multiple different people that come in and out are those people that you knew that you gave permission to go in there? I'd say there's been a couple people that I've had over with me to hang out for, I don't know, make some eggs or something like that. >> Okay. >> But other than that, >> would you consider them friends? >> Barely acquaintances just from the morning meetings. >> Hey, Tan. >> Hey, I need you to keep your hands out of your pockets. You want to just place your hands up on that wall for me? >> T we're going to have to go back and talk in the more uh secure area. Okay. Just be a gentleman with these guys like you have with us. Okay. Okay. >> I appreciate it. >> You can just face that wall. Place your hands on the wall, sir. Take a few steps back with your feet. Keep your hands on the wall. >> Thank you for being gentlemen to these guys. We're going to explain. >> The man was charged with first-degree later pleaded guilty to voluntary. While one investigation ends with plea after a body is discovered in a barrel, another man is arrested at the library for lwdness. >> For touching yourself when there's kids around at the library. >> No, >> I saw you. I was looking right at you. >> I had an alcohol and someone's calling about you bottle. A shocking call brought officers to a public library where a man was allegedly caught exposing himself near the entrance only for police to discover this wasn't his first time. Hey, idiot. What are you doing? I'm out with him. Get against the wall. Get against the wall. >> Get against the wall. >> Drop it. Drop it. >> Drop it. >> Give me your hands. Give me hands. What? >> Against the wall. >> Against the wall. >> Alcohol that I'm twisting up the bottle. >> Yeah. Is that what you're doing? Sure about that? >> Yes. >> Doesn't didn't look like it. >> Twist. >> You don't learn your lesson, huh? >> What? >> You don't learn your lesson. >> What did I do, dude? I got court the 22nd of July. >> Get in his hand right now. All right. >> For what? >> Alcohol. No, for touching yourself when there's kids around at the library. >> No, >> I saw you. I was looking right at you. >> I had an alcohol >> and someone's calling about you the bottle. >> You don't learn your lesson, huh? What happened last time? >> All I did was twist up the bottle. I just came from the courthouse. I was going downtown >> code for Got one detained. >> One of the officers can just find the witness. See if they want to come in for a statement. >> I didn't even do anything. >> I just saw what you were doing. I was looking right at you. >> Yeah. >> What else you doing? I just saw a staff member first. She is leaving for the day. She should still be on scene. She just called in. She's a witness. She stated that there's many staff members on scene who are also witnesses as well. >> Copy. Whatever responding officer, just send them in there. I'm with him on the side of the building. What else you got on you besides alcohol? >> Respond. >> Dude, you don't learn. You don't learn. >> I didn't do it. >> You did do it. I watched you do it. I saw you do it. People are calling about you doing it. >> I didn't do anything. All I did was twist up the whole box to the bottom and I was going to throw it in the trash. >> No, that's where you're doing your hands are in your pants. No. >> What do you got on the library? >> I didn't do anything. >> Yeah, you did. >> No, I didn't. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Don't learn your lesson, dude. It's a library. There's kids around here. >> See my new court paper, man. >> I don't care what you did. Yeah, you did it last time again, too. >> I didn't do it cuz I didn't do anything. >> Turn around. Spread your legs. Spread further. Spread further. >> What's that? Why is it Why are your pants down? >> They weren't down. >> Yeah, >> turn around, bro. >> Central Avenue 525 Central Avenue call in a citizen lockout. Unsure if it's motor vehicle or building. Here. Sit. >> Slide on the wall. Sit. >> I know. I didn't do anything. >> I know what you did. I'm tell I saw what you were doing. >> Bottle in my hand. >> That wasn't what you were doing. >> You had your hands in your pants and you were doing a motion. I saw you. >> Was in my pocket. >> Yeah. Then why why am I here? People calling about you. They shouldn't have called. I >> You shouldn't be here. >> I'm trying to charge my phone and I'm waiting for a ride, sir. I didn't do anything else. >> You should not be here. >> All right. So, I'll leave the property. >> No, too late for that now. Maybe next time you'll learn your lesson. Enough. We get calls about you all the time for the same. >> Officers then spoke with witnesses to learn more about the man's actions and piece together what had happened. >> Hi, how you doing? >> So, it was this door right here. >> Okay. >> It was about like 4 >> 4:00. Okay. leave >> just just now laying there. He's right there and he was driven off unfortunately. So, >> okay. He was just pants >> he he saw me. >> He was fully like totally out unfortunately and just you know >> his pants were all the way down or just just like >> he was out his pants were down. He was >> he was just unzipped and everything out. Okay. All right. He made eye contact with you and just didn't >> He made me I opened the door, shut the door cuz I was like what am I seeing right now? Walked away and then I called the police department a couple minutes later. >> Tried to find someone. my uh >> okay >> department head and I couldn't find herself. I'm sorry I had to deal with that. It's okay. >> All right, we can go. >> Okay. Oh, I can >> make sure we get We need someone to come in for witness witness statement. >> Okay. All right. Um >> are you are you trying to leave right now? >> Otherwise. >> Okay. Would you be able to >> I can come cuz this is happened multiple times with him now. >> Really? >> Um yeah, starting with other locations. Um I hate taking time. Would you be able to come to meet us at police headquarters? Come in and provide a statement. >> Where do I park? >> Uh, right in the back of headquarters. Right there. So, yeah. 425 East Broad Street. When you go in and you go through that little brick wall, the back parking, that's right there. And then you just come right in the front. >> Okay, great. Thank you. What's your name? >> You know where headquarters is? >> Okay. All right. Thank you so much. And we'll meet you there. Okay. >> Okay. Make sure we got we need someone to come in for a witness witness statement. >> Witness you touching yourself. That's what the witness statements for. >> That's not what you're doing. >> Yes, >> it's not. You should just be truthful cuz I know what you're doing cuz I witnessed it and all these people here witnessed it. >> No. >> No. All right. Well, that's how this is going. So, >> dude, I have court on the 20th. >> I don't care. You're going to have court again. >> I didn't do anything. >> All right. Well, >> when will I have court? >> You're going to have a new court date? >> What? So, so whatever you assume I did, which was only have alcohol. >> It's not what I assume. It's one what I assume. Also, these witnesses and these kids and these people in here, >> you can't just >> No, you can't touch yourself in public. >> I didn't touch myself in public alcohol. >> No, that's not what you're doing. >> Yeah, it was. >> Whatever you need to do, you need to do in a private. doing it in public like this with his kids around me. >> It's not gonna fly. >> All I had was a alcohol on me and I don't know why they stopped me. >> Officers had confronted him about similar incidents several times. So this time they had to take action. >> And we were just out with you and Maze behind there. You doing the same >> where? >> Maze the Mexican restaurant last week at the train station for the same stuff we were out for. Yeah, we were. >> And you're lucky the person didn't want to press charger. That's the only one reason why you left that day. >> I didn't do anything. >> You did do something. Same thing. >> I didn't know you. >> So all these people are lying every time they call. They're they're lying about different people I've never met. Say you're doing the same thing. >> I'm not doing the same. >> Yeah. Well, >> all right. Well, you're going to learn your lesson today. So maybe maybe you find someone else private to do whatever you got to do. So that in the public eye with his kids >> in a public school where there's children. >> Yeah. Yeah. There's children here. It's a public library. She's going right now. >> Who's that? >> What? >> Who's that? >> All right. Well, where's your car? >> Gage. >> Oh, all right. Then per we can put in Perkins car, too. >> Saw your [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> I just had alcohol. >> So, what would what would you say? See up and he was under >> I was in my pocket taking the alcohol out. >> Your pocket's up here. This is where your pocket is. >> No, on the side of my P. >> Yeah, that's not where your hands were. >> Brandise. >> All right. Listen real quick. We're on camera. All right. You understand me talking right now? Are you drunk right now? Are you? >> Hey, listen. You have the right to remain silent. Any state can be used against your court of law. You have the right to an attorney before any questioning. >> You can have an attorney. One can provide it for you. Do you understand your rights as I've said them to you? What? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. I just read you Miranda Rice. Next thing we're going to do. We're going to bring the headquarters. The female librarian I was just speaking to. Came out here. She told us exactly what she saw. >> Plain as day. You guys made eye contact. This is not the first time this has happened. This is multiple times now. I don't know what the what? >> No, I haven't even talked my phone. All I had was alcohol on. >> Okay. Look, man. We've been doing this a while. We We know that you've been caught other places. cemetery maze. This is going on. >> I have Where are you charging the phone? >> Up on the backyard of the uh library. >> Where? >> I don't see a charger. I don't see a wall. >> There's an outlet on the other side. >> I didn't do anything wrong. All right. Ben, >> are you in 24? >> Is that your car? Yeah. >> That has a cage? Yeah. >> Cool. You guys don't have bags, do you? >> Yeah, I got a bag. You got a plastic bag. >> What? So, will I get released? >> No, you're not getting released. Not this time. You got released last time. And back at the train station, you got away with it. >> I didn't do anything wrong. >> Well, maybe now you'll learn when you get out what not to do. Get out of >> doing what you're doing. >> It's enough. That's it. We're not We're at zero leniency for this. Now, you see all the kids that just walked in? They need They don't need to see you here laying doing whatever you're doing. >> And guess what? You're going to get trespassed from here now. And now you're not even allowed on this property. So, if you're on this property, you're going to get locked up. And that's going to happen to you on every place you go now. Maze is they're going to trespass you. The place behind the train station, you're not allowed there either, cuz all the stuff you pull. >> You're going to have nowhere to go. >> Yes, I do. Is that his thing, too? >> Yeah. Do they want him trespassed also? >> Well, can you run aside and ask what they want to formally trespass? Thank you. >> Cuz I know I got caught the 22nd of next month. I just got >> Yeah. You're going to have probably two court dates the 22nd of next month now for the same. >> Afterward, officers spoke with the librarian and took the necessary steps with consent and cooperation. >> Hey, question. Do you guys want formally uh trespass in the library? >> Do we what? >> Do you guys want him trespass from the library? >> You mean like banned from the library? >> Yes. >> Uh probably. Hold on one sec. It can hold on like two seconds and I will call back to my uh the director who should make that decision. >> Hey, I am here with officer Benal and he is asking if we would like the perpetrator to be banned from the library. >> Trespass. >> Tres tres trespass from Is that does that mean like he can't come in? I don't >> that means he can't be in this perimeter. If he's on this perimeter after he's advised his trespass, he can be arrested. >> Did you hear that? >> Okay. Uh I'm going to put you on speaker here. Uh would you like that? >> Yeah. Anything we can do to to keep him away from the library. >> Okay. All right. No problem. >> Okay. Thank you. Great. both. >> Yeah. >> All right. Set up these cuffs. >> Yeah. Turn off. Turn off. Spread the feet apart. You got anything else on you? >> No. >> Three feet apart. You >> drunk right now? >> No. >> How many fireballs did you have? >> I only have two empty. And then there's there's two left. I don't know. against the wall, dude. >> It's about your feet like I told you the first time. Come on. >> Where's Perkins? >> Perkins on a 75. Sound like you called out for one. Let's go. >> Good. Let's go. Checking back seat. >> Clear. Great. >> Perfect. >> Okay. >> Is someone's already heading inside? Is it for a statement? >> Victoria Library. >> Victoria Library. >> She's going right right now. The man was then taken to the station where officers continued with the necessary procedures. the box that show bench and search him again Matthew was charged with lwdness involving a victim under 13 years of age. After uncovering the truth behind a shocking public incident, officers now respond to a scrapyard where one man's actions could have led to a deadly outcome. >> Move the hot water tank over. Almost hit me. >> Okay. Then he threatened to kill me. >> Officers responded to a scrapard after an argument on September 12th, 2024 when a worker was accused of threatening a man with heavy machinery. >> Sir, deputies almost. >> The other street is the other the other yard is down the street right there. >> Oh, that's where he's at. Yeah, he's there. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Threatened to kill me with the machine. He almost hit me with the hot water tank >> because I dropped some screws on the ground. So, he wants to have a have a problem. Call me names and start cursing me out. I curse back at him, too. >> Okay. Well, what is he in relation to you? A coworker? >> No, he works there. >> He works there. And you're you're an uh >> I just went to dump my crap. >> Okay. >> Just went to dump my >> So, you're a customer and he works there? >> Yes. And he's drinking beer in the machine every day. Okay. >> If you give them a breathalyzer, you'll get the bre you get the bear on them. >> Unfortunately, we don't have those in our cars. >> Oh, yeah. Well, you don't have it in your car, >> but if you stop, if you pull somebody over, you give them breathalizer >> at the gym. Other stuff. >> Oh, okay. >> He's got bear in there. He probably got rid of it already. He's drinking in there and he's >> Okay. And and and you're So, what take me from the start. What exactly happened? >> I pulled in to dump dump my load. >> Okay. And I dump my load >> and with that vehicle, correct? Okay. >> Usually he'll help us if you see it's raining, have some consideration, give us a hand. He don't have to, but usually he'll do he'll do it. But we unloaded by hand. >> Okay. >> And I dumped some screws and stuff on the ground. So he called me back to go pick it up. I went back to pick it up. He starts cursing me out, calling me names, moved the hot water tank over, almost hit me. >> Okay. >> Then he threatened to kill me. >> Okay. What exactly did he say? >> But I said, "Why? Why you almost Why are you trying to hit me with the machine? Put the um hot water tank. What you What are you going to do next? Hit me with the machine." Okay. >> He said, "Yeah, I'll kill you." >> Okay. That's what he said. All right. >> All right. >> So, for me to stay out of trouble, I got out of there. >> That's That's good on you. But why why do you think he tried to hit you with the water? >> He did, sir. He did try to hit me with it. >> I understand that. What I'm saying is what makes you feel that way? Because he was mad mad also. >> So when he came over he was mad. >> He brought the machine open with the with the hot water tank almost hit me. >> You said why did you try this again? So what are you going to do? Right next try to kill me. He said yeah. I'll make sure you're dead. Okay. The machine. So when all this was happening, how did you feel? I'm angry. So I left. I have to get out. >> You feel as though he was going to kill you? >> Oh, he was. He's crazy. He's drunk. I keep telling you he's drunk. He drinks in the machine every day. >> I get that. >> Okay. >> But what what I'm getting at, I'm trying to figure out if we have a verbal argument, if we have freedom of speech where people are saying stuff that maybe shouldn't be said, but it shouldn't be said. No. >> No. >> Or do I have a crime that he's threatening to kill you with a with an automobile or excavator, whatever. He's got a claw. >> That machine that machine is a weapon. >> Okay. >> That machine is a weapon. So that's why I'm asking when he said yes, I will kill you. I'll make sure you're dead. >> Yes. >> How did that make you feel? >> That's when we walk away. We finish the screws and walk away. >> Okay. >> His sister's in here. >> His father's the boss. >> Okay. >> But the sister's here. >> And they just allow him to >> drink, drink, and run the machine every day. >> That's crazy. Okay. All right. Just want to make sure. >> Every day. >> All right. So, he works for this location, but the different yard is back there. And that entrance is right there. >> Yes. >> Okay. Yes. >> I'm I'm just making sure cuz we got when the call came out, we immediately came. >> Yeah. >> Make sure no one is actually >> Yep. That's why I got out of here. That's why I got out of here cuz I don't want to have nothing because then both of us is going to jail. >> I'm not going to jail today. No way. >> That's good on you. I'm glad you were able to be the better man. >> Get out of here. >> Cuz usually if someone does a criminal act Yeah. >> and we go to them straight away, they'll be like, I didn't do anything. I don't even know what you guys are talking about. >> Well, there's a camera down here. Okay. >> And she's got the camera in here. >> Okay. >> After speaking with the caller, officers then spoke with a witness to get a clearer picture of what happened. >> Are you Charles Wer? >> Yeah. >> What's your name? >> Mike. >> Deputy Rexler. How are you, Mike? >> Good. >> Were you out there today? >> Yeah. >> Out in the yard. What happened? >> I don't know. >> Man's face number one. And then they almost hit him with the grappler. They had to they put it in the pressure. We almost hit him with that. >> On purpose, >> I would think. >> So, what makes you think he did that on purpose? >> Cuz they were having words. >> It was pouring. We were taking the straps off. We thought he'd, you know, come with the grapple and he didn't even do it. So, we just throwing this off. Okay. And I the man is I'll tell you that right now. Okay. Have you seen him drink >> or see? Yeah, I can tell. >> But have you seen him physically drink? >> No. >> Okay. It doesn't mean he's not drunk. I'm just just asking. >> You can tell the way he's talking. >> Okay. >> And I guess he's got family. >> I don't know if he's part of his home. >> He said his family owns this. It's owned by his dad. >> Might be. >> What's his name? >> The Bathway guy. >> Yeah. >> John. >> He's John also. >> Yeah. This whole thing is family. >> So he grabs the water heater from the ground or whatever. >> No, it was off the >> Oh, it was on the trailer. >> Yeah. >> And the way he swung it off. >> We pushed it off >> and he grabbed it and he almost hit him with it. >> Okay. >> What were the exchange of words though? Do you know? >> They were going back and forth. I was just trying to get the trailer. It was pulling >> get out of the rain. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you didn't hear anything specific? >> He threatened him. Okay. How did he threaten? >> Exact words. >> You're not sure. Okay. >> I appreciate it. >> You don't know the exact words that were said? >> Not really. >> But they were going back and forth. >> Once the initial accounts were gathered, officers turned to the family running the yard to see whether they would support or contradict the caller's story. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Deputy Rexford. >> Hey, Spoke Bowski. Uh, your name, man? >> Natalie. >> Natalie. You own here or part of family business? the manager here. >> Manager. Okay. Who's running the grappling at >> the other yard? We always have I just told him he ain't allowed to come here anymore. >> Okay. >> Charles, we always have trouble with him. >> Okay. >> Sand him from coming here. >> Okay. >> I guess apparently he got mad. Machine operator up there wouldn't unload them. It's pouring down rain. So, we dumped a whole bucket of screws and nails all over the ground up there. >> Okay. >> So, that's what started. Who is the operator up there? >> John Junior. >> John Junior. So he's Is he your brother? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Brother from another mother. >> Okay. >> A relative. >> I'm the milkman baby. >> A relative of the yard. >> There you go. >> Okay. Um, so he Do you know anything that happened or you kind of >> I'm not up there. It's up there. >> Right. >> But that's what I talked to the manager up there, Steve. He runs a yard up there. >> Okay. >> And that's what he told. >> Did Steve see all this happen? >> Uh, >> or some of it. >> Probably some of it. >> Okay. >> I think he saw the part where Charles got mad. We wouldn't He wouldn't I mean, we don't have to unload people. It's a risk for us to do that anyway. >> You know what I mean? Damage people's trailer. But he got mad. It was pouring down rain. He didn't want to get out of his truck. >> I got you. >> So that's what he did. dumped all the screws and nails and the unloading will people unload all over the ground, >> right? And then you're going to pop all kinds of tires and stuff like that. >> Yeah, we always have trouble with him. >> He used to take his stuff to our yard in Holly Hill and they kicked him out down there, too. >> Okay, awesome. All right. So, regardless of whatever happens today, do you want us to trespass him? >> You don't have to trespass him. I just told him he So, if he tries to come in, if he tries to come in, we'll just deny him. That's all we need paperwork. >> Okay, >> let's go talk to John Junior just so he can say we talk to everybody. >> Officers then confronted the accused man to hear his side, but his condition quickly raised concerns. >> John, you mind stepping down for a minute? >> Can you come talk to us? >> Why not? >> Why? >> Can you step down for a minute? >> We just got to talk about that that guy that was here. We already got his story. We just got to say we talked to everybody. >> We appreciate the man Charles. >> Oh yeah. Oh, at least it's not raining anymore. >> Yeah. What's the about now? >> Did anything happened today? >> All right. Nothing y'all need to be involved in. >> Okay. I mean, he been a customer here for a long time, but he's just a hard man to >> hard man to deal with. >> He is. >> Okay. >> Do you know him? >> I only I met him 5 minutes ago. That's about it. I've never met him before that. >> He's been coming in there for a long time. >> Okay. >> He constantly You can ask anybody who works here. Constantly gives us a hard time. I got you. So, what happened today? >> Well, it was it was pouring down rain. >> Mhm. >> He had a tote full of nails and screws. He dumped it right there in the dirt. >> Okay. >> Knocked it over. >> Yeah. Dumped it right in the dirt. And he's been here so many times. knows better to do that, >> right? >> And then why you dump that out in the dirt like that? >> He had a little tote. >> You're going to pop your own tires. >> Yeah. The rest of the customers, >> right? >> Danny, he said, "Well, you supposed to unload it." I'm not supposed to unload any customer. That's the new thing to unload. It's pouring down rain. I said that thing's >> Yeah, he called he called me a son of a >> I did I said you insulting my mother now. >> My mother's not a >> That's I got you. >> Don't Don't be insulting my mother like that. >> What? That was all. >> All right, >> that that was that was it. I said, "No, don't be >> You mind just putting those down while we're chatting?" >> Sure. >> Don't be insulting my mother. Calling son of a That's calling my mother. >> All right. I got you. >> I have one of the greatest mothers ever. >> Well, that's good. >> Yeah. >> So, okay. Did you say anything back to him other than don't insult my mother? >> No. >> No. He was going on. He had three water he was right there. Every time he comes in here, it's always issue with him. >> Okay. He knows where everything goes, he he keeps on trying to give us a hard time. >> I got you. >> So, with the water heaters, did you pick any of them up while he was cleaning the >> No, I was nowhere near them. >> Okay. What was he saying? I tried to hit him with a That's him. >> Yeah, that's him. That's kind of the kind of I'm not prejudice, but he he's a tough one. >> All right. >> You can ask the guys who work here. >> Was there anybody out out here when all this was happening? >> Well, Steve Steven runs motor. The man continued to deny making any threats, insisting he was simply doing his job. >> He heard me. He heard Harris how at me and but he wasn't over here. He got he had the guy in the truck was helping him. So I ain't no telling what what he going to say. But I didn't threaten him or nothing like that. Hey I'm an easy going guy. I'm not going to threaten that. >> Yeah. Big out. >> Who said that? Why you saying that? >> You think that's what he said? >> Yeah, that's kind of guy that he is. >> Well, why would he come up with something like that if it never happened? >> Don't hit me. Don't hit me. Don't hit me. >> And where were you this whole time? s in in in doing my job. >> You were sitting in the loader and he's saying, "Don't hit me." >> Yeah. >> What do you think you were going to hit him with? >> That >> Oh, with the grappler. >> I got to take >> I don't think you'll be dealing with Charles anymore. >> None of we're just concerned. >> They They won't They won't run him out of here. He'll be back. >> They already did. >> Which is fine. I don't I don't >> Natalie was here, right? >> Hey, baby. See, all this is from him. >> Natalie's your sister, right? >> Yeah. >> Natalie told him, "Don't come here no more." >> Why would you dump screws and nails out? >> It looks pretty heavy. Maybe he dropped it. >> Nah, >> you think he dropped it? You think he >> As the accounts remained conflicting, officers shifted their focus toward determining the man's condition. >> Let's just be honest with each other, man. Maybe something to give me. You had two all that? >> Yeah, that's it. >> Two beers. Anything else? No. >> Bush. Bush beer. Ain't no alcohol in it. >> Bush heavies. You >> drinking the real Bush or Bush Light? >> No, I don't drink light. Look at me. I'm skin bone. >> I don't want something happening to you or any of your customers because some pretty heavy equipment. >> I'm not impaired, brother. I've been I've been running these trades for a long time. >> Not impaired. >> And you and you said you were willing to prove that to us. So, we were just going to ask you to do some tests to prove that to us. What's that? >> I'm renegging. >> I don't know what that means. >> No. >> No. You don't want to just say no. I've never heard that before. Where's that from? >> What's that word? >> You say you're reading. >> Reading. Yeah. >> I thought he said he was reading Egan. I thought I thought something about a meeting. >> Okay. Can you at least check your eyes? >> Just kidding. >> Can I do it with a pen? >> No. Why is that? >> Cuz I got very poor eyesight. I'm >> not asking you to read nothing. He's looking at you. >> You're just going to follow my pen back and forth. No. All right, John. I'm just going to ask you one more time really quick. Would you be willing to let me do it? It's called a nestagmus test on your eyes. I'm just going to check to see if they how they flow if they flow with the pen or not. Would you would you be willing to do that for me? No. Okay. All right. Do me a favor. Turn around. >> Turn around. >> Can I go shut machine off? Oh, you're going to stay right here. Keep your hands together like you're praying. Okay. >> Just like that. All right, John. >> So, you were in direct immediate control of a vehicle when we pulled up here. You look like you're falling asleep. Based off of our observations, everything like that. You're being placed under arrest for DUI today. Okay. >> We'll explain it to Steve. >> They tagging me to jail, man. >> All right. >> I'm going to leave these knives and stuff on your machine for you. I'll talk to you when you're all done. >> We'll talk to you in just a second. >> See, >> shut the machine off. >> The man was charged with DUI. One worker's temper nearly turns deadly with machinery. The next Karen stop sign rage ruins her entire day. >> I want to press charges. You're going to jail. >> Not for assault. >> On May 20th, 2026, officers responded to a road rage dispute sparked by a stop sign violation. I was going down 100 I think it was 109th Street. The one right here. There's a stop sign. I turned left. I was coming down the street. Yep. I was getting to um I went to the stop sign over here at this street. >> Um and I proceeded after the stop sign and um this lady blew the stop sign, almost hit me. >> Okay. >> Um so I came around the bend and I honked at her just because I wanted her to know she blew the stop sign, almost hit me. Okay. And I I came around the bend here. Um I honked at her, honked at her, and she pulled over and she got out of her car, took off her shoes, came at me, and said, "What is your problem? What's your problem?" I said, "You blew a stop sign. Almost hit me." Um I said, "There's kids in the area." I said, "I've been hit by a car before. I've been hit by a drunk driver before." I said, "You you need to stop at the stop sign." Yeah. >> Um she she I she said, "Get out of your car. Come on. Out of your car." So I opened my door. She slammed it into my neck. I was still in drive and I bumped into her car and then I called. >> She did what to your car? >> I bumped into her I was still before that. So you were driving. >> She got out. She got out. She threw off her shoes said, "Come on out." I opened my door. As soon as I opened it, she slammed it into me and my car was in drive and I I you know bumped into her car slightly. Okay. >> And then after that I called the cops. >> Where was she standing when you opened the door? She like >> she was coming at me. She said, "Come on out. Come on out, bitch." So, I opened the door because I wasn't going to, you know, I don't know. I mean, >> did the door hit her? >> No, she pushed it into me. She was over here and as soon as I here, like, so I opened the door. >> She was coming here. I opened it right here and I was about to get out and then Well, actually, she didn't step out yet because I I was about to get out and then I hit my hand here and she shoved it into me. I mean, you could probably >> So, she hit you. >> So, it hit me in the neck, but I don't want this. I was like this and somehow it hit me. >> I see a mark. We're going to take pictures of the mark. Um, if it comes to it, would you want her arrested for battering you? >> I don't know. >> Okay. Do you have a license on you? >> I do. >> Okay. the door that she shut the door at. She slammed the door at me. She just came out. >> Officers gathered both driver's accounts, but the woman continued blaming the other driver and trying to justify her own actions. >> I would like for that officer also take my statement because I she's saying things that probably are not accurate. >> No, that's what we're doing here, right? That's why there's so many of us here because you're saying one thing, she's saying one thing. Obviously, it's going to be contradicting stories. We're here getting the initial story. these officers are going to be the ones handling the paperwork, okay? They're going to come over here and do the same thing. They're going to get your story again and they're going to flip and then they're going to do this story. You know, um they're going to want a picture of your neck if you do sign a complaint for battery if they offer that to you. Um do you have insurance for your vehicle? >> And then what's your phone number? >> And then your license plates, the Yeah. Yeah. >> No, I know. But for insurance and because it is an accident ultimately, we do have to get all that information. That's all. >> I don't know if this is the part. >> As long as it's good. Let me see. >> I can't see it on my glass. >> Effective date. No, this one's expired. Do you have a new one? >> I don't know. >> Yeah, >> I should. >> This is just her phone number and her license plate. She's getting her insurance. She's showing me the fire. >> I know. I have >> Where did the uh Where did you come in contact with her originally >> in contact? >> Yeah. >> With her car? >> No. >> Well, she Okay. So, >> like where did you >> So, 100 I believe it was 109. >> Sounds like a road rage incident. >> Sure. That's what she says. >> I was coming down 109th Street. I hit I got to the stop sign >> which >> which the stop sign on the street the next street over >> at the end of 109 >> the next street over and then as I was proceeding past the stop sign she flew past and I almost hit her or she we almost have an accident there. So I came around the bend and I honked at her. I wanted her to know that she blew a stop sign now. Okay. So she just she flew around this corner and so I came around the corner. I honked at her. She pulled over. I pulled over and she got out of her car, took her shoes off, came over here and said, "Come on out of your car. What's your problem?" And I said, "You blew a stop sign and we almost had an accident." And so she said, "Get out of your car." I went to open my door. She slammed it at me. Know what happened? It just my my car went forward slightly. It was just went forward and it hit her car. I I honestly don't know how it happened because I I don't know if I was still in drive. I don't know if I was in the park. I just I I just was it she hit me. So, I just was I don't know. I don't know if I was trying to leave. I don't know what what happened. But I And then I called the cops because I was just like this is crap. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know where my current insurance I don't have. I keep my insurance. Oh, sorry. It's here. Um so anyway, that's what happened. >> Okay. >> She came out of her car. >> Okay. after I came around and told her she blew a stop sign >> and that we almost had I know you can I know you want to say >> I want I I want you to stop talking for a minute. >> Sure. >> I want to make a suggestion. >> When somebody has a traffic violation cuz that's what it was, a traffic violation. I mean, you can call the police department and and and we'll take care of that. Um you don't follow people to their home because you don't know what's going to happen. >> I don't know where her home is. You followed her >> around the corner. >> Okay. And she stopped. >> Sure. >> Okay. But you don't know where she's going. She may be going home. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Sure. >> And then you don't know what's going to happen. Now look what happened. >> Sure. >> Because of a traffic sign. Exactly. >> A stop sign. >> Right. >> Okay. So now we have a traffic accident. You're claiming you got battered. Uh she's claiming you followed her, which you did. >> I did. >> Okay. So, >> and I was just going to continue down here and go back. >> Well, you could have continued. >> I know. I know. I wasn't going to This was when not was this was not my intent. This was not my intent. >> What was your intent? >> My intent was just to just to honk at her and let her, you know, and and if she rolled down her window, I was going to say, "Hey, you stop sign." Because I mean, that's what I would think that she would have done. I don't think anybody would get out of their car and come at me for honking at them. >> She doesn't know what why. >> She does know. She She knows that she blew the stop sign. She was speeding through the stop sign. Okay. Okay. That's what you say. >> That's what she did. >> Okay. But nobody was there but you and her. I don't know if that >> Okay. So, that's all the the perception or whatever we we call it these days. >> She could say you blew the stop sign. >> Okay. She could >> Yeah, absolutely. But my point is that you're following somebody. You have no idea who they are, what's in their car, what's going to happen, and look what happened. The woman then became frustrated, arguing with officers and refusing to follow their instructions, forcing them to take immediate action. >> You guys are police officers. >> How many I understand? >> How many stop signs? How many stop sign violations? >> Okay, but if you take How many stop signs violations? >> If you live in the area, if you live in the area, then you can let us know. So you can let us know every day. There's at least that's not the point here. You followed somebody home and now there's an accident. >> Okay. And now there's an accident. >> Okay. >> Did she grab your license? >> She did. >> You got your insurance. >> I'm trying to find it. >> Did you get her license? >> Ma'am, >> stop. >> Did you? >> Because you know what? >> We have to get both people. >> We have to get both people's information for a traffic accident. >> Okay. But she assaulted me. She came out of her car and okay >> threw the she threw the door at me and hit my neck >> and then she started videotaping me calling me the psycho after she assaulted me. She came at me. I don't I didn't I mean whatever whatever this expires August 2126. This is my insurance card. I just gave it to her. All right, let me grab it just so I can make sure we >> I can take a picture to get out of your car. I said I would help you out in a minute. I told you to go to your car. >> You did not say that to me. You did not say that to me. >> Go to the car now. >> May I take a picture? >> No. Why not? >> Until we're done doing what we're doing. >> May I take a picture? She just >> go back to your car. Yes. Because you came up here. >> You follow. You know what? >> You can't get in people's face and then get mad when they move face. I swear I I was just taking a picture of her neck. >> We've already had one altercation. Okay. >> Have you taken pictures of my neck yet? >> No, I haven't. >> Can you >> Do you want to press charges on me? >> I want to press charges. >> You're going to jail. You're done. I'm not done for assault. Yes, you are. >> You're done. You followed her home. Yeah, you are. >> Yeah. She's not home. >> She does not live here. >> This is Let go of him. >> Can you please lock my car? Can you please lock my car? She salted me. I could have one of our sergeants and I have her name. >> No, you're going to jail. >> Thank you. Because one >> take her two. >> You're not hurting me. >> You are hurting me. >> Yes, you are. Why are you being so mean? >> I did listen. You never told me to hit my car. You told me to move my car up and I if I haven't >> You already had an altercation with her once. Why would you come over there again? >> I wanted to take a picture of the car because we could have helped you out with that. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> My gosh. >> You're not in control here. >> I didn't say I was. But if I haven't listened. >> No, I'm not. I'm done listening. >> You haven't listened yet. >> Okay. >> If there is an accident, I have every right to take a picture if my insurance is involved. There's no pictures. >> There's no pictures of her car. Oh my god. >> Cuz I need a cage. [laughter] >> You know, my son. >> I don't think he treates. >> I love you know this isn't right. You know this isn't right. You >> want to just have her have a seat. >> You guys know this isn't right. >> No, I was assaulted. >> All right, have a seat. >> Okay. >> The woman was charged with assault. While one driver is arrested for assault after a road rage argument, another man is taken down for criminal damage and battery on an officer. >> A man was reported to have damaged property near multiple businesses on April 21st, 2025. And police from Los Cusus responded to the scene on California Avenue. >> Get over here. Get over here. Drop Drop whatever's in your hand. Drop it. Whatever's in your hand, put it down. [snorts] Let me get out of the way here. >> Fernando was charged with battery upon a peace officer and criminal damage to property. Before we come to an end, here's a case from Ohio. Officers were called to a suburban home after reportedly finding something concerning inside a blue plastic barrel in the basement. When they moved in to secure the area, the woman became extremely upset and began resisting as officers tried to take her into custody. She kicked and struggled on the concrete floor while officers worked to restrain her and keep the situation under control. Whatever was found in that basement appears to have made this case much more serious. What do you think happened inside that home? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for watching.
