The store manager explained that KD had been scanning receipts and refunding purchases to his own debit card for about 3 weeks, totaling over $2,500. >> Taking care of it, right? >> Uhhuh. >> So, what's what happened? >> He was taking the sweets and scanning them and refunding them to his own card. >> Then Mhm. What's this in here, >> baby? >> Is it he? >> Mhm. >> And he works here. >> Mhm. >> He's my assistant manager. >> Are you the manager? >> I'm the school manager. >> You're the You're the boss. And but that's the corporate or something or >> my my district manager is in the office. >> District manager. >> So my boss. >> So he buys products. >> Mm- So other people are buying products. if they don't want the receipt, he's calling them up, throwing them away, but then taking them and scanning them and refunding them for putting it back on his debit card. So, he's like, >> "How long has you been doing that? >> Going to say about half a month now. 18, 19, 20 days now." >> Dear Heather, right? >> Yes. Yeah. Cuz I don't >> What's his [clears throat] name? >> The loss prevention team had all the evidence ready, statements, documents, and even video footage. KD had already admitted during earlier interviews that he was responsible for the fraud. >> Just written a statement. I have my LP partner on the live on video. I have the statement. I have all the documentation and video >> and admitted to it. >> Mhm. >> When I'm arrested. >> Huh? >> When I'm arrested. >> So, you guys press charges. >> Oh, absolutely. >> Okay. >> I have um >> Hello, >> sheriff's department here. He's got another deputy on the way. >> Okay. >> Hi. How you doing? I'm Jim Christ. How are you? >> Hey, how are you? >> I'm good. I'm the loss prevention manager for Dollar General. I live up here in Tampa. I cover 230 stories here in the States. So, >> God bless you. >> All right. >> Yeah, I know. You guys are busy. I know that. So, I appreciate appreciate you guys coming out. Um, so basically what we have is we have some positive refunds that KD has completed here. I've interviewed him. >> KD later explained his reasoning. He said he had been struggling financially and made a bad choice. He detailed how he would keep receipts from purchases and refund the amounts to his own debit card. >> Okay. >> I'm not going to lie to or >> No. Well, you can't. You're otherwise you p yourself and you catch it more. >> I mean, there's cameras. There's >> Right. So, tell me what you did and tell me why. Like, what's the reasoning? >> Um, I refunded transactions and put them on my card that of stuff that I didn't buy from other customers and obviously they didn't return. Um, and I did it because I was just struggling financially and I just I made a dumb stupid decision and if I could take it back, I would. >> Right. How long you've been working here? >> 6 months. >> 6 months. Do you like your job? >> Not really. >> That's okay to be honest. Yeah. >> Not really. No. >> All right. So, how did you come up with that idea? >> Um, >> cuz that's that's pretty sneaky. Katie admitted that the total amount he took added up to $2,655 and it was all done at this one store over a period from November through January. He also confirmed that he only used a single debit card for the refunds. >> You keep the receipt. >> Yeah. >> And then at a later date or the same day or >> Yeah, a later date usually. Yeah. >> You What do you do? You scan it and like like they're bringing those items back. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. >> And then you put it on >> and put it on my card. Uh, what kind of card do you put it on? >> Uh, bank account, Chime card, just a regular debit card. >> May I see it? >> Yes, sir. >> Does this have Is it this exact one? >> Yes, sir. >> Or do you use multiple? >> Um, that's the that's the one that I use. I didn't use any other card. >> Okay. Let me >> You use cash, too? >> Yes, there was there was cash, too. >> So, you said you do this when they pay with a card. >> Well, uh, 99% of the time it was with a card. It was a couple times I did it with cash, too. >> Okay. >> So, how many times have you done this? >> Uh, too many times to keep counting. >> All right. Do you have a dollar amount? >> 2,655. >> 2,655. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> From this, did you do it at any other stores? >> No, sir. >> Just here? >> Just here. >> All right. Do you have a time frame of the dates that you did it? >> Um, >> was it >> maybe started sometime in November. >> November to through what? January. >> He wrote a statement taking responsibility for his actions, apologizing and promising to repay the money if given the chance. He understood that the company intended to press charges. >> I'm writing this statement of my own free will. >> I refunded over two 2,600 to my own card. If given the opportunity, I am willing to pay back the full amount of money that I cost the company. I was struggling financially and made the wrong decision to steal from the company. I will pay back the 2,600 that I lost the company if given the chance. The sincerest apology is key. >> Okay. And I commend you for that. Like I said, that action that you took is commendable. You know, I mean, you're you're you're taking responsibility for inappropriate actions, right? So, >> the store manager called. We have the district manager. And right here is the LP boss of bosses. Okay. They do want to press charges. Yes, sir. >> All right. Have you ever been arrested for theft before? >> No, sir. >> Do you have any kind of criminal history? >> No, sir. >> Nothing? >> No. >> Okay. So, that being said, um, is there anything you want to add, change, or Listen, you're getting fidgety. You've been fine this whole time. Have I been transparent with you? >> Yes, sir. >> Have I explained the whole process? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> KD was then told he would be arrested. Following procedure, officers searched his belongings, collecting his debit card, vape, and other personal items, confirming he had no drugs or weapons. >> So, you sat down and talked to me. All right. Come here, bud. Come here. Breathe. All right. I'm just going to put your hands here and then I'm going to handcuff. I have to sir. >> Can you put it in front of me? Does it have to be >> No. No. >> It's policy procedure that we have to do it last week. >> You told 10:15. >> No, not yet. >> Have that subject at 10:15. Okay. >> Is there anything KD? Yes, sir. Is there anything on you? I have my phone and there's a vape in my pocket. >> All right. More pocket. >> I'm going to be searching you. >> There's headphones and my phone in this pocket. >> Okay. Anything in your pockets that are going to stick me? >> No, sir. >> Poke me, cut me? >> No, sir. >> Any kind? Anything like that? >> No, sir. >> Okay. And your vape is here? >> No, that's my headphones. My vape's on the other. >> Okay. All right. I'm going to take all this with me. All right. >> Yeah. There. Face that way. How old? >> 23. >> So, you never been charged with theft before? >> No, sir. >> Okay. This is your vape. I will take that. >> What's this? >> Um, it's something I got from the customer like 6 months ago. Did >> you pay for that? >> Um, no. >> Okay. All right. Just let me check the back pockets here. Is there anything else on here that you're aware of? >> Nothing. >> No. Okay. Yep. Okay. So, >> this is going to be a felony charge. Okay. >> Because of the amount of money. Yeah. >> All right. 2,600 and change. KD was charged with scheme to defraud. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation, 10 hours of community service. When he asked for ID and documents, the driver said she was heading to a family event. The deputy smelled marijuana and she denied having any, saying the car belonged to her mother. The officers decided to search the vehicle. Hello. >> Hey, how are you? >> Deputy Troder, Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. >> Hey, how are you? >> So, uh, doing good. Your, uh, front lights out. She repeatedly requested a supervisor while officers calmly told her to comply. And I can smell it. But do you guys mind stepping out of the car for me? >> Um, no. >> No, sir. Because I don't understand why you would need to go to that level when I'm just trying to go to my sister's house. We'll just verify the statements, whatever this guy's saying, and then >> No, this is all good. Well, it's not going to be good for them. I did everything. I I'll give you guys whatever you want. But my fiance's dad is also the ex 20-year chief of police of all harbor. I got nothing to hide. >> So that answers the the badge in the cup holder. >> Oh, yeah. I have your >> coin or badge. Yeah, I have it there. I was like, just in case. >> Yeah, >> your stuff. Yeah. >> I don't know how you guys want to work it cuz of your your backpack or rug sack, whatever's in the back. I left it all there. Like we really don't >> Is our truck still Is the truck still there? >> Well, we told it. So I I could give him a call >> if you want to go over there and be like, "Hey, listen. He just needs to get his stuff like and I'll explain the situation. >> Ask us how long is my truck going to be gone? >> I mean depending on once we clarify everything and everything it's it'll you might be able to get it back uh pretty soon. >> Supposed to be taking it to Jackson while my girlfriend's my fiance's house story. >> Huh? >> At least you have a story for her. >> Yeah. No, for sure. I mean I just want to drive back at this point. Oh, I love that truck. I ain't giving it up, man. >> I would to tell my bomber when you hit me. >> No, not that was only that was like the first thing I noticed. I'm like I wanted to get mad and then I was like, "Oh crap, it's the lights." So >> there. >> Totally unrelated story and just kind of crazy. I've got a friend in North Carolina going this is [ __ ] up cuz it is what it is. Got rolled on child. The conversation became more casual as Shane discussed his career, Coast Guard experiences, training, and retirement plans, operational challenges, and budget issues were touched on, and the investigation concluded as a clear misunderstanding. >> No. >> Yeah. Can you just wait for us to finish and then kick out cuz my fiance was also a cop? >> Yeah, you can call her after. Yeah, just for the sake of the interview, I think privacy sake. How many years have you been serving for? >> 27. I'm retiring next year. >> Really? >> It is actually. It's very good. I'm going to move to Jacksonville and um I think right now I'll probably go to work for Boeing. That's what I'm looking at. If I can find something that's like low not low stress. Low stress isn't good, but like medium stress. >> What is it that you do? You just fix the planes. >> That's what I did. Um, now I direct the maintenance for the five helicopters. I've got 76. >> They're the rescue ones. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> Um, you've always been here in the old one. >> No, I've been here for coming up on 2 and 1/2 years. >> Where were you before? >> North Carolina. >> So, you said you were there and then you just came over here. >> Yeah. So started in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Puerto Rico. Was in Puerto Rico for 5 years. Moved to North Carolina. Was in North Carolina for a lot longer than I expected and uh transferred again on the base. I guess luckily it was it's a big base there. So they've got the schoolhouse. I was an instructor for a couple years. I worked at the overhaul center for a couple years. And then I was a ground support equipment program manager when I first commissioned and um came up on the end of my tour. Tried to get the hedge rod in Jacksonville. I wanted to go to Jacksonville and ended up in Miami, which that's one down here. >> Yeah. One of my my old sergeants, he's like the the finance guy for the Coast Guard. >> Oh, Pisik, >> he's a sergeant here, but he does like all he's out of California. >> Oh, okay. >> He has to fly out all the time. >> Fly around. Nice. >> Yeah. I was unlisted. I was enlisted for 21 years. No, I'm a warrant officer. So, you need college for that? Yeah. So, I I've got 12 years is my highest. I've got the equivalent because I went to college for a couple years and then I did my airframe and power plant license, my FCC license, and my FCC Growler so I can work on radios and aircraft. >> So, with the technical >> it still has its >> Yeah, it's it's good. Not a lot of technical routes left. I mean, AMP wise and the civilian sector and airports start getting thin. Yeah. >> All the guys are retiring. >> Is it really? >> It is. Yeah. And they started the schools up like it's, you know, you can go to tech schools like Broward's got a good flight program, a good ground school program for maintenance, you know, but it's mainly like technical colleges. So, it's been a fun career. We've got it. We've got it made. It's It's been fun. >> It was surprised. You guys got a tight ship shight ship over there. We tried getting uh we originally went over there. >> Yeah. uh to see if because the car was over there >> and then we tried to get in to even look around. >> Guys didn't have my phone number cuz they would have called me and I would have just came off somewhere. >> So whenever we get calls like this is very loaded information. >> So if I had known I would be a Volkswagen dealer, nobody nobody called, nobody emailed, nothing. That's that's the frustrating part is like >> that's that's the thing. We got to verify what's going on on their end because if the case is that it's a clerical error on the paperwork or something and you know that's something that they need to sort out themselves. Um but you know once they call us they tell us hey >> so this vehicle is >> you know it's it's curious to me. Um I'm going to relax now cuz I done [ __ ] wrong. Um all of their vehicles there. They were like pushing the lowjack thing. like they push the lowjack thing hard and I was like that's never been anywhere like that. But I'm thinking like South Florida like it's pretty wild west here in my opinion. So all right cool. I'm buying a used truck. It's expensive you know in a gated community and stuff. I was like oh cool that's probably handy to have on there. I mean that's what I pay insurance for but peace of mind. But it was interesting that they were pushing that low jack system like >> I mean depending on today's testament this really works. >> Yeah. >> So they want to let yall on the base and >> we tried. >> Yeah. Where did you guys go? Did you guys go today? >> Yeah. >> We went all the way down to Opalaka. >> Yeah. That's see if we can get a hold of the truck. >> That's where it sits all the time. >> Yeah. Once we saw how tight ship it was, we're like all right. I mean, either in this guy's a contract who has access or possibly somebody on base. >> I don't know. I'm I'm the man. >> Yeah. You guys were created to get a [ __ ] stom and a half doing that. >> That's why uh we went over there. Obviously, we asked questions first before doing anything crazy. But um >> now that we know what it's about, it would have been funny, but it would not have been funny at the time. >> Well, not at the time. >> No, not at the time. >> Laugh about it now. about it now. A really great story. You guys remember that time [ __ ] got arrested? >> Where are you originally from? >> South Carolina. I grew up in Charleston. >> Oh, okay. Love that place. >> I do too. What'd you do before? >> Uh sales. >> Sales. Really? Good for you, man. That's awesome. >> You look like a military guy. >> Nah, I've been I've been doing this for a long time. Eight. Long time. Because I'm only so young. I'm not even in my 30s yet. I started at 21. >> Okay. >> Um before that I was a drag line oiler. >> Uhhuh. And you're you're a brower. >> Yeah. >> All right. You know Brian Chan now >> and BSO where he's at? >> No, he's in Sunny Isles. He's a sergeant at Sunny Isles. >> Actually, I have a couple cuz I went to Date Academy. So I know a lot of people from Sunny Isles but it doesn't ring a bell. >> Yeah, Brent's a sergeant down there. And then Tom Hunker's my fiance's ex dad. He's the ex- chief at Harvard. I actually know the chief's there because he's one of my one of my really good friends. His dad >> I get that a lot. My whole family served. I'm the only one that did it. >> Okay. >> I wanted to go this route. >> You have the military look to you. >> Yeah. >> Never crossed my head cuz I was just like, you know, graduated in 2014. I was like going downhill. So, >> dude, I tell you what, man. If I had to do it again, and I I'm going to go out with a good pension. Don't get me wrong. I guess it's not anything to complain about, man. When you guys go out, it's so good. It's so much better. >> Yeah. So, yeah, just like from what my brothers and my cousins told me, it's just like it was getting very political over there. So, without getting too deep into it, I was just like, >> cuz they told me and I was like, I don't know. And then one of my cousins does this dating. I was like, that sounds more fun, honestly. >> Yeah. I I It's a toss up because I've really had a great career coming to the end like I look back on some of the things you've done and I've gotten to do some incredible things. They've really helped a lot of people. Um but man, for retirement wise, it's police and fire, especially down here, you guys. >> No, it's good. But the cost of living is cuz you can retire, but then the cost of living keeps going like this, but then you stay here. So the old heads that retired a long time ago, >> they're working on like second pensions now and stuff. >> Yep. That's Yeah, that's M That's M That's M That's M That's M That's M That's M That's M That's M That's M That's Mr. Tom definitely. He went to Miami for a little while. >> We uh we've had we've had some some rough years in the Coast Guard. It's going to be interesting to see what plays out. >> The man was released without charges. On July 28th, 2025, he filed a lawsuit against Dural Volkswagen for at least $50,000. False imprisonment and violation of FDUTP AFLA stat 501.204. On July 19th, 2024, police responded to Sephora in reference to an inrogress retail theft involving two female suspects. When police arrived at Sephora, two young women were quickly stopped for a suspected theft. Officers calmly asked for IDs and basic information, confirming both were adults. As they were detained, it became clear one of the women had acted as a distraction while the other slipped items into her bag. >> Take this out. Put your hands behind your back. >> What is going on? >> Right now, you guys are being detained for the shoplifting investigation. So, >> did you write it? >> So, her her too? Yeah. >> All right. Here. Here. I'm going to put your phone. I'm going to put your phone and bag down so I don't drop your phone. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, you guys sure you don't have any ID on you? It'll just make it easier to find you. I don't have it. >> No. Okay. >> I didn't drink my >> How's it going, man? What's going on? >> Not much. What do you got for me? >> Yeah. >> Um, basically, they walked in. I was on the sales floor, so I noticed right away with the girl with the shades >> and the hat plus the bag. >> Um, she I looked at her, she didn't smile at me or anything. She just >> Was she involved at all or No, >> the one with the >> The one that's standing right there. >> No, she wasn't involved. She was just doing makeup on things. Honestly, I think she was just a distraction. But >> I watched these two and they separated and they went by skin care, selected our skincare products. I watched them put it inside the bag from the CCTV. So, I got clear footage of them concealing it. She placed an item inside her jacket and then she put it inside her bag and took out the item in her jacket. They walked out. That's when I called you guys. Okay. And I followed them down there. I guess they saw me following them. So, we turned back and they came this way. When the officers approached, they calmly explained why the two women were being detained. They asked questions about the items in their possession, trying to clarify the situation. At first, the suspects seemed uncertain and confused about the accusations, but they remained cooperative. Staff observations and surveillance footage suggested that the women had worked together in a coordinated effort to conceal certain products. >> Okay. Um, we're going to walk over to your office and just look through the the stuff. Okay. >> They usually park in the back by name and mark. They do. >> Yeah, because she asked me where the exit was. The one with the cap and they go they you know they work in a team and the escape vehicles got to be in the back. >> Oh, so they have a vehicle. >> That's no no doubt. That's how they come or they go they come to the trap court which is not for employees. I'm guessing >> I got I'll walk over there. Just give me one second. >> She said he says fine. Yeah. >> All right. You're good to get out of here. >> Um >> I can't just get out of here. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Um >> I'm going to go with him real quick. Do you mind to sit with them? I read both. I read her. You read her? I did. Perfect. All right. >> Ask for anything or >> uh just hold off right now. Yeah. Um yeah. Thank you. >> The officer then reviewed the video surveillance and saw both suspects working together to hide numerous items in their bags. >> Um >> how do you pronounce your first name again? >> Okay. So again, my name is Officer Timothy. All right. With the phone. As the discussion continued, the officers went over the camera footage in detail. One of the suspects admitted to taking some skincare items, but insisted there was no intention to steal. Officers asked about whether any payment had been made, where the items were placed, and what else was in their bags. Through this conversation, it became clear which products belong to the store and which were personal belongings the suspects already owned. >> This moment again, you're detained right now. All right, for my investigation. Okay. So, I'm going to afford you the opportunity right now. >> I can't hear you. And I'm going to afford you the opportunity right now to be honest with me and tell me what's going on today. What happened what happened in the Sephora? Why am I here? >> Why I'm here. >> Why am I here? And why are you in cuffs right now? >> I'm going to let you think. I have cameras on every single angle. >> I can see me take something. >> Okay. So, did you take something? >> Did I take something? >> Yes. I was looking and stuff like that and I was trying all stuff. >> Okay. >> But again, right, I'm trying my best to work with you, right? Cuz it goes a long way. If you're honest with me in the front end of my investigation, it goes a long way. All right. I already watched all the camera footage. I know exactly what happened. It's seeing if you're going to be willing to work with me and talk to me and tell me what happened. >> Wasn't me. you I'm already like in this predicament after one day. >> Okay. So, here's the thing again. If you don't want to talk, you want to tell me what happened. That's fine, right? You're saying, "Hey, he told you that he saw you take something and you're not admitting to it right now. Um, you're still detained. If you're not asking, if you're not going to answer any more of my questions, that's fine. Um, just just hang tight." Right. >> So, you didn't you didn't purchase anything at the store? >> No. >> Okay. So, >> why are they saying that you took stuff from the store? >> Why are you Why are they saying that you took stuff from the store? >> I don't know. I have a bunch of makeup stuff in my bag because I don't like my makeup, but all my makeup stuff is in my bag. >> So, all your makeup stuff's in there. >> Like what I brought from my >> none of the stuff from their store is in your bag? >> No. >> So, like I said, they have video of you being in there? >> Yeah. So, would it make any sense that they're watching you while you're putting stuff into your bag? >> Would it make any sense? >> You're saying you didn't make anything, but they're they're watching you on the camera while you're sticking stuff in your bag. >> Is that accurate statement? >> Yes. >> Yes. So, what what in that bag belongs to Sephora? >> Uh, I just got Ordinary from there. >> You got Ordinary? >> Yeah. That the skin care or is it makeup? >> No, the skin care. Skin care. That's all I know. >> Okay. What What kind of skin care? Is it like oil, face wash? >> It's It's for your face, but I think it's just like acne. >> Acne stuff. Okay. Now, when you got that, who collected it? You or her? Did you take it off the shelf? Yes, he did. >> When I got the ordinary, I >> You took it off the shelf. Where did you put it? >> It's in my bag. >> No, no, I know. But did you stick in your bag? Did you walk around when it's in it? No, I didn't walk around. >> Okay. >> Soon after, the officers began searching the bags. They carefully separated the items taken without payment from the women's own possessions. Each item taken from the store was documented, and staff verified the accuracy. Throughout the search, both suspects stayed cooperative, answering questions and helping identify their personal items. >> You just demonstrated your dad? >> Okay. Do you have money to pay for any of it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Did you try to pay for it before you left? Okay. So, you went in there with the intent to take something without paying, right? >> No, not necessarily. >> Okay. So, at some point you came to the conclusion I'm going to take this without paying. Is that accurate? >> Okay, I got you. >> We're good. >> Yeah. Um, Officer [ __ ] is going to go through I said Officer [ __ ] right? This is the officer that's standing here with you. She's going to go through your bag, right, and take out the items that you took. All right. Uh, is this your bag right here? >> Okay. And this is your phone on top of it, correct? >> I didn't know where my phone went. >> No. Yeah. No, I had your phone. Yep. >> Yep. If you don't mind just going through it. >> Um, >> is there anything else or just >> I got to go see because apparently there's a bunch of stuff. >> She's saying this like the ordinary. Was it just one bottle or two? >> It was two. >> Two. >> Everything else in here is my stuff in our original. >> Do you want to have him come over here and take a look through it? There's a bunch of stuff. I'll just I'll walk it over there with him so it's easier so we're not playing back and forth. But I know for sure you're saying that it's these two, correct? Okay. All right. Um since I like I said, you're still detained right now as are you. I'll be right back. All right. Thank you guys. Appreciate it. >> I think my bag is >> um I'm going to grab that as well. >> Go ahead and go. >> Okay. >> But don't take my whole bag. >> Well, I'm taking your whole bag cuz right now again, you're detained. Okay. So, you're you're telling me before that you didn't say anything, but there's going to be >> I didn't say I ain't taking anything. I just said he he told you to ask something. >> Okay. I'm asking you straight up, right? Because regardless, you're taking a ride with me today. You're go I said Regardless, you're taking a ride with me. You're going to jail today. >> I can hear you. >> You're going to jail. >> You're under arrest, right? So, this is simple. I want to go through your bag and make sure, hey, what exactly you took is going to go back to them. If you're saying there's other stuff in here that belongs to you that you paid for, you need to let me know. >> You can you can um let's buy these. Okay. >> I just got to see what you're taking out though. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> What? >> Go ahead. >> You took this? >> Yes. >> This is from Sephora. >> Yes. >> Okay. The stuff you did not pay for, correct? >> Right. >> Okay. Yes. That's it. The three items. This Okay. >> All right. >> You need to search this one. >> Yeah. I'm going to bring this one over there, but there might be more in here. >> Okay. >> Are you good if I switch out with someone? And then here for the church. >> Yeah. No, 100%. Yeah. Thank you. Yep. Right back. >> All right. >> Okay. My name's Ringy. >> Okay, >> so we had a bunch of items. I just want to make sure. >> Finally, after confirming the details, the officers formally placed both women under arrest for retail theft. They conducted a last check of the bags, took photographs of the evidence, and prepared the suspects for transport to the police department to complete the necessary paperwork and processing. >> Yeah, it's yours. So, [clears throat] these four items in here, this is what the girl in the blue dress, the like the tight blue dress, Yeah. said that she took those four items. >> So far, the woman in the pink hat with sunglasses said she just took these two ordinaries. >> Um, she's got a bunch of different makeup in here. It all looks older. >> Yeah. >> Right. Do you see anything in there that is from your store? I didn't see anything cuz it all looks used. >> Got it. Yeah, she took these out of the out of the box. >> Out of the boxes. Okay. Okay. Everything else again looks like it's all old and it's hers >> on that one. This one? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Not opened. Okay. That's the first one. >> That's the first one. Okay. >> I don't have any right now. >> Okay. Perfect. >> She's out there, but she's leaving in 30 minutes. I just want to get another officer out there. That's all. It's all good. >> Almost done, man. No, you're good. >> I appreciate it. >> Okay, perfect. Okay. Um, he's going to walk over real quick and take pictures of them and then we can search. >> All right, so listen. You're going to be placed under arrest right now for retail theft. Okay. >> What's that? You be placed under arrest for retail theft. Okay. You understand? >> Yes. Taking items out of a store, right? acting in concert with your friend. Take all these items out. So, you're being placed under arrest. Okay. Officer Coon's gonna search you real quick and then we're going to bring you to the police department to finish paperwork. All right. >> All right. Stand up. >> Which one's yours? >> This one. >> I'll go with you guys. >> On August 18th of 2025, deputies responded to a burglary at a smoke shop in Palm Coast, Florida. When confronted, Taylor refused to exit her vehicle, leading to a tense standoff. Officers repeatedly instructed her to get out and put her hands behind her back. She appeared scared and hesitant, explaining she was pregnant and asking for calm. >> First flight, take it off for me. >> Get out of the car. >> All right. >> It's going to be a silver Mazda going eastbound on the Parkway. It appeared that she might have been actively stealing from that uh smoke shop the owner was chasing after. She has a felony water out of Vermont. It's violation of probation reference, I believe, robbery. >> Hey, out of the car. Out of the car. >> I'm coming. >> Put it in park. >> I am. I'm coming. >> Put in park. Step out. >> I will. Just a second. Please >> stop reaching. >> Stop reaching. Get out of the car. >> Don't grab me. I'm scared. >> Okay. Get out of the car. Put your hands behind your back. >> Please. I I need to tell my partner. >> Stop. No. Put your hands behind your back. Stop. Stop. You're going to get tased. Do you want to get tased? >> No, you don't need to do that. I >> No, you're not listening. Put your hands behind your back and keep them there. >> I will listen. Please don't put cops on me. Please don't put >> Stop. >> Third week. >> Stop. >> The car's on. >> I know it is. Julia, 35, female. >> I'm 7 months pregnant. >> Okay. Well, well, you need to start listening then. >> Taylor revealed she was 7 months pregnant. Officers explained she needed to comply and stay handcuffed for safety. She tried to explain her fear and confusion, apologizing for not following instructions. The deputies reassured her while maintaining control of the situation, eventually putting her in handcuffs properly. >> Okay. >> Can you please No, you're not getting uncuffed right now. And as soon as I get another deputy here, we'll work on that. Okay. But right But right now, you're going to stay in handcuffs. Okay. You tried to back up on me when I told you to stop. I know. I'm sorry. >> Okay. And you didn't get out of the car when I asked you to. Okay. No. No. Listen. Okay. You need to start listening and then things will go different. You were reaching on the side of the car. >> My phone. >> Okay. Okay. You don't reach when the cops are here. >> I'm sorry. I didn't >> Okay. This isn't your first time dealing with the police. >> What do you mean? >> What do I mean, Taylor? >> I haven't dealt with the police. >> Taylor? Really? >> I just got to Vermont. I don't know anything. >> You just got to Vermont. You're in Florida. >> I'm I know. I mean, I'm from Vermont. >> Yeah. Yeah. You You haven't dealt with the police in Vermont? >> Not in years. >> Not in years. Since you were a kid? >> Yeah, since I was like 19. >> Okay, here. I'll loosen this cuff. Hold on. Just just just read. >> If you see my hand, it's really messed up. >> Well, I understand that. But looks like that's not from me, though. >> No, no, it it gets really tight at first. >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> Well, I'll tell you I'll tell you what I'm going to do. >> Meaning not to listen. I got Taylor. Taylor. Okay. >> I just got scared. >> Okay, Taylor. I I'll put another set of handcuffs on. I'll put two sets of handcuffs on you. Okay. >> Do you have to have them? I promise don't listen. >> No, that's not the way this works. Okay. But I put another set on to give you a little bit more room. Okay. >> Are you going to take me somewhere? >> Taylor learned she had a warrant from Vermont which required her arrest. She pleaded about her pregnancy and requested to take her medication, but officers explained they would handle that later. She expressed fear and concern for her well-being. While deputies ensured she remained compliant. Taylor, you have a warrant for your arrest. >> What do you mean? >> You have you have a warrant for your arrest out of Vermont. >> So, you have to take me somewhere? >> Yeah. Soon as they confirmed the warrant, you're going to be taken somewhere? Yeah. You got to go to jail. >> Why? >> Why? Because you got a warrant out of Vermont. >> My baby's coming. >> Okay, hold on. Hey, I'm going to undo this cuff. Don't >> just keep keep your hands where they're at. Okay. >> Can I take my meds first? >> No, we'll take them with us. I can't give you meds right now. Okay. All right. Do me a favor. Just lean against the car for me. >> You're against the car at the >> I'm going to be sick. I don't understand. >> Why are you going to be sick? >> Cuz I need to take my meds. >> Okay. What's What's your meds for? >> I'm addicted to something. They're in the car. >> Okay. >> He doesn't want to be sick. I have water. Can I please just take them? >> What? Calm down. First of all. Okay. Okay. If you're going to be sick, I can call paramedics here. Okay. But this is what What is your meds? >> It's those >> are they are they are they in your name or they in a prescription bottle? >> Neither. They're just from the store, please. >> Okay. Hey, I can't give it to your right now. I'm going to turn off the car. Stay there. Okay. >> Officers clarified ownership of the car she was in. Taylor tried to involve her boyfriend, but deputies focused on securing the scene and ensuring safety. She remained anxious, explaining connections to the car and her personal situation, including multiple people living at the house. >> Whose car is this? >> Who Who lives here? >> Can I wake my boyfriend up? >> No, not right now. Who lives here? >> Like, whose owner's name? >> Yeah, I mean, who do you live with? >> I live with my boyfriend. Like seven other people. >> Okay. You know who's who who owns the house? >> Mark. >> How do you know Mark? >> He's our friend. >> Okay. From Vermont. >> I think he's from Vermont originally. >> Okay. Who's friends with him? >> What do you mean? >> But I mean, how do you know him? Like you said, >> my boyfriend. My boyfriend was his friend first. >> Okay. >> Please don't take take me. Can't you just cite me? >> No. If you have a warrant from Vermont, you have to go to jail. >> I'm having a baby, though. >> Taylor, spell your last name for me. >> C R O W N I L V. >> Just say it for me. >> Crowning shoe. I don't want to lose my baby. >> You're not going to lose your baby. >> I am if they're going to take me to jail. >> I mean, what? You violated probation of something? >> 2 years ago. >> Okay. Well, then why did you just take care of it? >> Cuz I was scared. And then I was in the hospital for almost 3 months. And when I got out, I was living in some place really far away. I couldn't get there. So, I figured time went time kept going by and never reached back out. >> I mean I mean this is what happens when you let things just fester. Can't you just cite me for what I did wrong? >> Not if you have a warrant. The warrant is from is from Vermont saying that they they that you did something that you needed to go back to Vermont for. >> How long does that take? >> I don't know. >> I need to tell my boyfriend I'm leaving. I'm getting taken. >> We'll take care of that. It's unfortunate. >> Now you're going for escape. >> Oh, please. I'm just scared. Ow. My wrist. My wrist. Okay.
