After arrest and before trial comes jail. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Another night in the streets. [music] Another night in this hell. I've been kicking and tripping. The cops threw me in jail. Got my fingers ink. They got my head on the lights. Dear Lord, please get me out this jail tonight. Just give me that. [music] [music] >> Been in book going on about 4 months now. Been at the jail for close to a year. You know, you're making a difference in somebody's life whether you realize it or not. Sometimes it's for the good, sometimes it's for the bad for them, but and you're still making a difference. >> So PY just brought in a female along with a couple other males. And apparently, I guess she confessed to having some narcotics hidden on her. So, we need to recover those and get her processed in as fast as we can. >> Okay. Is >> this everything you found on her? >> Yeah, she did state that she didn't know how many she had. >> Is that cocaine? >> Looks like meth. Yeah, >> this is crystal meth. It looks like crack cocaine. >> She had this hidden inside her, these three. And this was hidden in her bra. >> But she told us they were there. >> At least she was honest. >> Yep. >> You sure that's all she's got? >> Mhm. Yeah. I >> hope so. >> We made her search herself >> thoroughly. [music] >> Do you have anything in these purses that I need to know about? >> Nothing that I know of at all. >> Okay. >> I just have to ask to my knowledge. Anything bad in there? >> Okay. What brought you in tonight? How did you make contact with the uh police officers out there? Um, we were stopped at the stop sign and he ran the plates and uh they were out. >> Gotcha. >> And so he pulled us over. >> What made you want to confess to the drugs that you had hidden? >> Um, I've been through um this once before. I just knew it would be better to just tell y'all. >> You're absolutely right. So, are you just selling or were you using as well? >> I do not sell. I'm just a user. >> You're just a user? >> Yes, sir. I mean, all that. I mean, the reason why I had that much is because they handed me theirs and they even admitted it. You know what I mean? They even admitted that that was their stuff. >> You got a lot of toothpicks in here. >> I know. Cuz I have this I had a broken jaw and so I had this. >> Okay. >> And so I like, you know, that's weird, huh? >> How How did you get your jaw broken? >> Um, somebody hit me in the mouth. was an ex-boyfriend or something or >> it was a guy. >> Why did he decide to hit you? >> Bad anger problems, I guess. >> So, what's going through your mind right now? >> My little boy. >> How many children you have? >> One. Are you going to try to get treatment? You going to try to find >> I've been thinking about that for the past couple days >> and then this happened. [laughter] >> You have custody of your son? >> No. >> You've got to pull yourself out of this. No one else can do it for you. You've got to want to do it. >> I do want to do it. >> And you've got to commit to doing it. >> Like for real. >> You've got to want to get out of [music] that scene. If for no other reason, do it for your kid because he needs you. Okay. >> It's one necklace, [music] an ID. >> Have a seat for me. Do you want to go ahead and make your phone call now? >> Yes. >> Okay. Let me know if it doesn't go through. Okay. >> Hey, uh, I'm getting booked in. Yeah. And I give you a free phone call. >> Hey, I'm sorry. There you go. Are >> are you going to be able to do anything to help me get out? >> Please, I will I I'll come home. I mean, I'll do what you want me to do. I I'll stay home and do be do be do be do be do be do be do be do be do be do be do right. I swear to God. Please, I'm going to [music] I'm going to come home. I'm going to stay home and I'm going to be right. I'm going to do what I need to do, man. I swear to God, I'm going to be there home with you. I promise. Just please I will get it. I will I will get it paid as soon as I get out of these doors. Dude, I just need it right now. Please, >> you'll need to start wrapping that phone call up. Okay. >> Okay. I I got to go. I got to go. I love you. Please just do this for me. Please. Okay. Any amount of money, just bring it Monday to pre-trial. Okay. Bye. >> Okay. If you're all done with me, this officer may need to talk to you for just a moment more. When he's done, you can head back out there. Okay. Come on over here. >> How'd that go? >> It's going all right. >> Sound S sound like you were kind of having to plead with somebody there. Were they telling you they didn't want to? >> No, it's just they did it a lot of times already. >> They've done it a lot already in the past, bailing you out. >> Mhm. >> They sound like they were going to maybe make the effort to try this time >> toward the end. >> Towards the end. >> Yeah. But I know that they don't really want to do it again. >> I really hope you stay true to that commitment. We don't want you to come [music] back in here. Want you to get the help you need. So, if they're able to bail you out, you need to think of it like this is the last time. All right. We're go have you seat back out here. We'll get you housed in a little while. Let's go have a seat out there. Okay. I guess if you had to define despair, it would be something like this. She realizes that she's asked a lot of her family and friends in the past to bail her out and she's got herself in a bind. She's got a lot of soulsearching to do. Hopefully she'll be able to [music] pull herself out of it and get herself on the right course. So, I've been a detention [music] officer for 12 years. I enjoy it. I believe it's probably the most underrated aspect of law [music] enforcement. Having a chain of command, having a sense of duty, having a mission. Hey, Casey. >> Sir. >> So, where'd you get the makeup? What's up with the whole Cleopatra look you got going on there? >> Um, I made it. >> You made it. >> I did. >> Works, huh? >> It caught my attention now. It's It's coming off. You know that, right? Have a seat. >> So, what made you decide to come to work with all this makeup on knowing you're not supposed to? Well, I wasn't supposed to come to work today and uh it was commissary day, so I was having a little bit of fun in the block and then I got called to work. So, >> it looks nice. It's not staying on. How many times have you been here? 11 to be exact. I pulled it up. You've been here 11 times. >> Um, more than that. >> Really? >> Last year they pulled up 16 mug shots. >> 16 mug shots. Going back to 2011. >> Not that you know I'm proud of it. >> You look a lot different in 2011, 2012, 2015 >> out of there. It's not a very flattering picture. >> I was going through a lot in 2015. I was living on the streets. I did turn to drugs. >> What were you using? >> Methamphetamine. I've been clean for almost a year. >> That's good. >> December will be a year. >> There's a big difference between looking at you now and looking at this picture from a year ago. I mean, you talk about a downward spiral. I'm glad you're off of it. I >> I've definitely hit rock bottom that I've slowly but surely pulled myself. >> Has it been rough for you to stay off of it for that long? >> No. >> No. No, it's >> What's motivating you now? >> What's motivating me now to stay off? >> Um, it's just trash. I don't want to look like them girls look. >> But you look a lot better now than you did in that picture. So, I'm glad. Well, you're doing good. Doing good. So, now you got me curious with this whole makeup thing. [laughter] >> How long did it take you to make that makeup? >> Well, the hardest part was the mascara. >> Can you show me how to do that? But I'll tell you what. You show me how you did it >> and I'll forget that you had it. >> Deal. >> You got it. All right. It said in your cell, I'm assuming >> it is. >> Okay. I'm going to have you escort it down there. Get that for me and come back. >> Got it. Okay. >> All right. Cleopatra, what you got there? >> Just a little bit of my contour band. >> So, what do you use the M&M for? >> Uh, the M&M is for my eyeshadow. >> So, you just you rub it back and forth on your >> I do lick it just a little bit and rub it on. >> Do that for me real quick. Wow, that works. So, the fireball, I'm assuming, is for your lips. My >> lips. Mhm. >> Same thing. You just lick it and rub it back and forth on your lips. >> Interesting. And what is this? >> This is actually um you guys toothpaste. >> The clear toothpaste. >> The clear toothpaste that you guys provide. I break up a pencil. Tell my pencil's broken. >> Mhm. Put the light in there. Chop it up and smash it all together. And it becomes with you guys toothbrush mascara. Voila. >> It's creative. I'll give you that. >> My eyeliner is the pencil. Dip it in a little bit of water. Rub it in the corner. Done. >> Oh, you realize you're not getting this back, right? >> Yes. >> All right. >> I would have ate that M&M. >> Well, I appreciate you showing this to me now. Now I know what to look for though during my searches. All righty. Thank you, man. Appreciate it. Now go wash that off. They got too much [music] time on their hands. I'll tell you, they're they're pretty creative. We made a deal. She showed me how she did it. I forget that [music] it happened this time, but if I catch her again, I don't know who she's trying to look cute for. She's trying to impress somebody. Pretty creative, though. I'll give her that. Pretty creative. >> [music] >> I've been with Fort Ben County Sheriff's Office [music] for three years now. Grew up in the Houston area. Uh Fortbin County is a very fast growing county, one of the fastest in the country. [music] So, we have a pretty large jail. It's a good place to work. >> What's she here for? >> Um unlawful for restraint, assault, and police officer. >> No, not me. It was an accident. >> All right. I'm going to take these off. Okay. Okay. >> Have you been arrested before? >> I sure have. >> When was that? >> Um I was here two weekends ago for um assault, but it was my boyfriend and I got into it. His girlfriend called the cop. >> Put your hands up there. I got to pat you down. >> Okay. Sorry. >> All right. So, you got into an argument with someone today. >> Um no. Um actually, we pulled up to my house. I saw the ambulance there. Well, my dad had been My dad's disabled. I take care of him. Well, I guess he was drinking. He fell. So, um, by that time the neighbor called us, right? Well, when I got there, the cops were there and then CPS was there because I have kids. So, because my dad was trying to fight the cops, but he's sick. He's not in his right mind. So, he was in the he's in the hospital right now, too. So, >> Okay. >> Do you have any piercings that are hidden or anything? >> Okay. >> Face oil [music] for me. >> What's your last name, bro? Last name for >> What's your first name? >> Aaron. >> Aaron? Yeah. >> Who was Aaron in here for? >> A lot of restraint. He He's the >> Put your hand on the wall. >> Boyfriend of the girl I just brought in. >> Is he acting crazy in here, too? >> First of all, don't worry about her. Worry about yourself at this point. >> Yeah. >> Step this way [music] and make a right. >> Step through and make a right. >> What is the deal with her? >> She was arrested because she assaulted a CPS agent and uh wouldn't let him leave the house. So, she said something was going on with her dad in the yard or something. >> Yeah. She said her dad was found unconscious, bleeding. When her and her boyfriend got there, they restrained the CPS agent. They wouldn't let him leave and uh she assaulted him. >> Oh, okay. >> And then when we got her to the jail, she started picking. She would have seizures and stuff. So, we had to take her to Oaken >> and get her fit for jail. >> Oh, good. She's been checked out, so she won't have to go back to the hospital. >> Yeah. So, but she's bipod also. So, >> so she was acting up before that >> holling, screaming, getting up out the bed. They had to come to the bed and everything. She had in her head she was going to stay at the hospital all night and get out of her charges going to county. >> Am I Am I going home yet? >> No, I know. >> Oh, >> all right. [music] You know why you're here? >> I don't really understand. We're straight for something. >> What did you do? >> Uh, I was holding the door for somebody wouldn't get out cuz we're calling the cops and they wanted to leave so where we wouldn't let them leave. Well, you in here for a lawful restraint of a public servant. It's apparently three. >> What about your girlfriend? You know what's going to happen with her? >> I'm not sure cuz they took her in too. >> She's here as well. >> Yeah, she's here as well. In Rosenberg, she was acting crazy. Do you think done things different now that you're in jail now? >> I would just stay out of it. >> That's it. >> Uhhuh. That's it. >> All right. >> Hi. Well, you know, I missed you. >> Why are you here? >> I have a father who is disabled that I take care of. Okay. I went to the grocery store. He I guess he passed out on the road and the neighbor got him and then the CPS man came and and he was getting an attitude. I was trying to ask him questions, right? He's like, "No, shut up. I'm talking." I'm like, "Okay." He's like, "No, shut up. I'm I'm asking you questions." I said, "You know what? Get your get your get your I said get your get your get your briefcase. Get your paper. I grabbed all the threw it outside. I said you and then there was a big black lady with that. I said go pick all that up. But look what he did to me. >> Can I get some pictures? >> Yes, please. >> CPS has always been involved with your your dad, not your kid. >> No, with my kids. But we closed that case. And that was because of my 20year-old, right? And he's the one that's going to prison. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So it was never >> It was never with your dad though. My dad >> No, never with my dad. No, my dad did go to prison. I mean, get go to jail here um about 2006 because he did kick my son in down there. Um they were playing while my dad was drunk, but my son was crying so I called the cops >> and that's how CPS got involved. Gotcha. I understood. >> Yes. Yes. >> Well, fortunately, I got some bad news for you. >> You already know. >> The felony. >> Two of them. >> Two of them. >> Mhm. It's unfortunate but you know >> but but I want to press charges on him too for him doing that. Okay. >> So you got they have the ass of public servant and law unlawful restraint. >> Unlawful restraint. What does that mean? >> Saying that you wouldn't let him leave basically or you held him back or stop. >> I said I said sit on the sofa till the cops come. He was trying to leave to >> but you can't. I know. I know. Okay. You know >> I know now. But I'm like no. Why are you Why are you scared now? Why do you want to leave now? I said, "Wait till the cops get here, then I'll let you I'll open the door for you." >> Okay. >> Yeah. And that's why they got my boyfriend, I guess, cuz they thought my boyfriend was We weren't holding them back. I did. I >> I did got his graduates on. I said, "Get away from me. You don't know me. Don't come around. My kids are taken care of. I'm going through a lot of right now. Get the hell away from me." Okay. >> And so that's where >> I got you. I got you. >> Now look where I'm at. >> Listen, you're not sure if your boyfriend has been arrested. So >> I am sure. >> You think he has? No. No, no, no. My mother-in-law, everybody was at my house when this happened. >> Okay, >> now for real. I don't want to see you in here like this. >> I'm not, mister. I give me bye. >> What's she here for? >> Just being extradited. No, she came in to get fingerprints in. >> So, we found the warrants. >> She found the warrants. They confirmed them. They're going to extradite her. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> So, what happened to you? You had warrants out of Colorado. You didn't know about her? >> Yeah. I called I called for them and I missed court because I was in the hospital and we were I thought I was going to be in jail. So, they would do it over the phone. It was only for ID theft. ID theft only. And I called and asked if I had a warrant. They said they would dismiss it because I didn't do it. >> Okay. >> And I talked to the lady and they're saying I have burglary and all that. >> Okay. So, when you were in Colorado, you stole somebody's ID or something or what? >> No, my ex told me to do all that. >> Oh. >> And they're trying to put me for the things he stole there. He did a school robbery and I was not in that scene. >> So, you weren't even there when all that occurred, but >> I was asleep. >> He said something. >> Okay. Gotcha. going to put your hands on your back. We're going to walk around this way and change you out. Uh, what size do you typically wear? >> Small. >> So, apparently, I guess she was turning herself [music] in here to take care of the warrants that she had here locally. And of course, when we brought her in and ran her in the system, we found out that she had warrants from out of state, from Colorado, and they are willing to extradite. So, >> what's the original charge out of Colorado deal? >> Um, theft of ID, I believe it was. >> And I'll get you to sign for yourself. So regardless of what the original charge is, since it's from another state, it's going to be automatic fugitive from justice. Spelling through, >> right? >> She'll be in our custody until they come to come to pick her up. >> Anywhere from 2 weeks to 90 days. Depends on whether or not she fights extraditions. [music] >> How you think your family's going to react or >> I don't know. >> You have family here or they're all in Colorado or >> I'm not from Colorado. I just got in trouble there because um my ex put some charges on me that I didn't even do and I'm guessing that's what it is. >> Ex-husband or ex-boyfriend? >> Ex-boyfriend. They just had a baby 3 weeks ago. >> You just had a baby 3 weeks ago. Little boy or little girl? >> Little girl. >> And it's the one that's in Colorado. >> Okay. Well, did they kind of already explain to you how this how it's going to work as far as extraditing you back out there? No, they just I just said that they're going to extradite me. But for something I didn't have those charges that they have on me right now, those warrants. >> Okay. Well, it could be up to 90 days that you're here before you get extradited back to Colorado. Doesn't mean that it'll take that long, but that's how long it could take. >> And they said that I was going to get no bond at all. >> As of right now, I don't I I don't think so because it's a fugitive from justice. So, it's probably going to be a no bond. You can go ahead and come on back over here. Just keep your hands behind [music] your back for me. Okay. Just go ahead have a seat. Sounds like she was trying to do the right thing. She's coming in [music] to sign the papers for her judgment on on the charges that she had locally here with us and [music] um just didn't know that she had those warrants out of Colorado. >> Come to find out, she had no charges with us. She came in just for fingerprints. >> Well, she was saying that she [music] had violation of probation here with us and that she was just signing. >> It was an older charge. thought she was doing was getting fingerprinted. >> Wow. She actually would have been in and out within 15 minutes. >> Oh gosh. >> So, she came with the assumption she was in and out in 15 minutes. Now, she's staying for 2 weeks and 90 days. At >> least she's going to get [music] them taken care of now. >> All right. >> And the doors open up and they leave me outside. I'm going to go home to my family tonight. I've been thinking about my home. I've been thinking about my kids. I don't [singing] want to be alone. [music] I got to get up. >> [music]
