Holding a simple sign in support of homeless veterans was all it took for these cops to come down on this guy, instantly forgetting the very law they're supposed to uphold. But that was their biggest mistake because this earned them a spot on national television. Watch this. >> What happens if I don't leave? >> Then you're going to be subject to arrest. All right, you know what? Let me get your ID. I just want to exercise my First Amendment rights on this public property and not have them violate my Fourth Amendment rights by seizing my ID. >> Yeah, well, you're going to find out. >> They're supposed to be upholding the law. >> So what? >> Unless you got a call from the governor or the president of the United States declaring martial law and the suspension of our civil rights, calls are nothing but hearsay. You can't violate somebody's rights based upon a call. >> You're being trespassed from the public area. >> What public area? From the public area. >> Yes. Uh-huh. As I said, all I'm not soliciting money, I'm soliciting goodwill and prayers for the homeless vets. Officers have to be First Amendment training. I file lawsuits and I sue. You still want to trespass me knowing that? Let me stay here and exercise my rights. >> You can actually be somewhere else. They just don't want you here. So I'm trespassing? From this area, yes. We made a mistake. >> Sanford police even posted this, "We recognize that a mistake was made and the officers involved are being addressed. We understand the significance of First Amendment rights."
