Straight lane. Let's go >> into traffic. We went with a small channel, new channel for us called Vcams. Uh Sam found this. It he watched 5 seconds of the video and said, "Hey, we got to watch this." So, we're going to do it. We're going to do it while we're playing body cam bingo. So, we've got it. We've got the card. This card has proven well for us before. So, we're going to see how it does today. alcohol in our that's that's the reason she crashed. >> You're both at you. >> On September 5th, 2025, police responded to a car crash involving a possibly impaired driver. Witnesses reported that the driver had been swerving between two lanes before making a sharp left turn at an intersection and striking the left side of a yellow school bus, which had only the driver inside. When officers approached the vehicle for questioning, they were immediately met with the strong odor of alcohol. >> What happened? >> I um I was crossing over and >> you were coming on this road. You were crossing this. >> You were going to go in here? >> Yes. Okay. >> All right. And what color was your light? >> Green. >> Did you already give someone your driver's license and stuff or >> No. Okay. Um >> All right. Give me Give me one second. Okay. So, as officers are responding to this collision, vehicle versus school bus, they're definitely thinking that there's all these kids, injuries, parents, it really complicates things. The fact that they got there and that there's no kids involved in the school bus makes this a lot easier. Now, there is a kid in the at fault vehicle. She's daughter of the driver. She's 11. Um, in the state of Arizona, if you are under the age of 15, uh, while you have a passenger under the age of 15 in your vehicle, it's considered a felony. So, everything being the same, just regular DUI crash, if you are DUI, you're impaired, you have a subject under the age of 15 in your car, it's considered a felony here because Arizona is trying to protect kids. I would imagine that they have that same kind of law in Florida. >> Do you know, do you remember what happened at all? >> Yes. >> Sure. What happened? >> Uh, I had an accident. >> Yeah. How did that happen? >> Wow. >> I crossed over. >> Okay. Why? Why did you crossed over? Are you going somewhere around here or >> Yes. >> Which direction were you? >> My boyfriend's house. >> You must be so proud. >> Yes. >> Are you injured? >> No. >> No, you're not hurt. You want to go to the hospital? All right. What's your full name? >> Okay. All right. Sit down. Okay. We're going to talk to the paramedics. see if they can clear her and then we'll go from there. Hey, how you doing? >> Hello, firefighters. >> Good, but I just want to make sure you guys clear her first. >> So, the daughter was in the car. >> Was in the car? Yeah. >> So, she basically was coming out of at a slow speed and she turned and I hit the side of the bus. >> Is anybody in the bus? >> No, just the driver. >> That's good. So, it saves a lot. So, >> this is her. >> Yeah, >> she's fine. They're just taking on her. We're going to have you step out for a minute because your airbags will deploy here. Okay. >> Do whatever you want. >> Okay. Just hold in for a second. I'm going to let the paramedics check on you. >> Hey, right here. >> Hey, how's it going, man? >> Just got to check on you as well. >> What's that? >> Right now, we're just checking her out, making sure she's okay from the accident. Are you hurt? >> All right. Nothing's hurting you? >> No. Okay. Any medical problems? No, I just want to check her. >> Okay, we're checking her out. She's out there right now. >> Do you take any medications? Describe >> all of them. >> Blood pressure. >> Do you take blood pressure medications? Anything else? >> Two blood pressure. >> Anything else? Recreational or two. Just a two blood pressure. >> Yeah. Ma'am, >> can you step out for a second? Because we got to throw your car. Okay. >> I'll help you. Go ahead and I'll hold it for you. >> All right, let's walk back this way. Okay, sit right here. You can sit right here. Nothing hurting you? >> No, no leg injuries. You didn't hit your head? >> I don't see any visible injuries. I'm just making sure you're fine. Okay. >> No, I'm good. >> Okay. >> Your daughter is getting checked up right now. Okay. So, she's she's in good hands. Okay. >> Let's walk over here around the car so we can so people don't hit you. So, we'll be protected from these guys. Huh? >> Can you guide me? >> Can I guide you? Sure. Okay. >> Absolutely. >> Let's go over here. Right here. Right here is fine. Okay. >> Little wobbly on the feet there. >> Yeah. Please. >> Now I'm moving on to I have suspicion that you've been you're under the influence or something. So now I'm under a DUI investigation. Okay. I have to I have to let you know. >> So sorry. >> It's all right. Take your time. >> So sorry. What are you sorry you for >> I hit a bus? >> Hi. >> Did you take anything? >> No. >> Cuz I can tell. Ma'am, we can tell. >> No. No, I haven't. >> When was the last time you had a drink? >> I haven't taken anything. >> What? Al. I'm talking about alcohol. >> No, I haven't taken anything. But you haven't been able to tell me what your address is. >> My address? I >> are you injured anywhere? Can you are you able to answer that? >> 10 people have asked her that and she said no >> anywhere and I am so sorry. I am trying. >> I just want to know Megan if you were taking anything or drinking anything. When was the last time you had a drink? >> Like 4 days ago. >> 4 days ago. >> Yes. >> Where were you coming from? >> I have not. I was picking up my kid and I have not had so much. >> Do you take prescription medications? >> Yes. For high blood pressure >> and that's it. >> That doesn't have any impairment potential. >> I'm so sorry. >> The reason we we're asking you those questions, ma'am, because >> I understand. >> You've given us all the indicating that you are under the lay of a substance. Okay. Not only you acting very your driving your driving pattern when you were driving a little bit according to two people that saw you driving and you crashed into the bus. >> Not only that, I'm just driven you right now. You are extremely touched. You look like you're about to fall asleep. >> I understand. >> Slow to react. You You're beautiful. Your eyes >> understand your words. >> That's why I'm asking you all this question. So I don't know alcohol. >> I don't you don't drink at all? No. >> You You never drink at all? >> No. >> Really? >> Yes. >> I thought you said you drank something 4 days ago. >> That was like No. >> So, what did you have to drink? >> This was weeks ago. >> Okay. What What was it? I am telling you I don't drink currently and I have been >> your time. It's okay. We just want to make sure you're okay and your pupils are extremely painful. >> Yeah. >> So you didn't hit your head at all today, right? >> So it's an arc. >> It's an opioid. There's a a medical term called midriasis which simply means a constricted pupil. Um the number one drug category that constricts pupils is is what we would call a narcotic analesic or what people would know more as an opioid. Um so morphine, heroin, oxycontton, oxycodone, um fentanyl falls in there. All of those drugs, the majority of the drugs that you take for pain um will constrict your pupils uh when the drug is psychoactive in the body. So that's they're looking it would be very consistent with her slur speech and her poor balance um and her very slow driving and and all of that. Everything would lead its way to having that be a final determination of the source of impairment. So um and I like that the officer is looking at her eyes and making those those observations because it's important >> bumps and everything. Okay, you can go ahead and look behind. Do you know do you know what today's date is? >> Uh September 4th. I'm >> What year it is? >> 2025. >> Who's the president? >> Four. >> Oh, >> yeah. See, you're you're you're not even you're having a hard time even answering simple questions. >> Who's the president? >> Not Trump. >> Okay. All right. >> That was a joke. >> Well, this really isn't kind of joking matter. Grab your phone so that your daughter wants to call her dad. Okay. >> I'll grab it. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. >> I mean, we we are doing a DUI honor, but I don't know what what she does. >> Yeah. I mean, she's refusing. >> I didn't refuse. >> I asked you if you were okay and if you needed medical treatment, you said you you were okay. You're not >> refused. Either way, we got to take her to the hospital. >> You didn't refuse. >> I stated that >> this entire conversation is mind-numbing. >> Um the fire personnel says, "Hey, she refused. She says, "No, I didn't." What she refused is additional medical treatment. She refused to be taken to the hospital. She said, "No, I don't I'm not injured." Um, so that was the refusal. She is saying and thinking it's a refusal of something else. And they just did a terrible job of explaining this to someone who they already know is impaired. Um, and they could just say, "Look, you you refuse to go to the hospital because you're not hurt, right?" Yeah. Okay, that's a refusal. but they just couldn't use their words properly and it just kind of went in circles and it was just it was I'm I'm I am dumber for having listened to this conversation. >> They were here cuz there was traffic coming. >> I said either way we have to take her she she's under the so she has no choice. She's going to have to go to the hospital. >> This kind of seems collaborated. >> Collaborative? What are you talking about? a mommy. Like really? >> I'm not understanding what you're saying. >> I'm trying to help you out. >> I don't think anyone's understanding what she's saying. >> What's going on? >> All they want to do is they just want to make sure you're medically okay. >> And I'm just trying to find out. >> She said she doesn't want to go. So just ask her. >> I didn't say anything. >> Would she be willing to do some field sobriety exercise to you believe >> why they call them exercises? >> Would you be willing to do a field sobriety uh exercise? cuz we believe that you under the influence of Would you be willing to do this on closer you? >> Ma'am, come over here real quick. >> Do you wear glasses? >> I have contacts. >> You have contacts now. >> We're not going to do it here. >> Yes, we are. >> No. >> You don't want to do it? >> No. >> Where would you like to do it? >> Where's the straight line? >> Don't worry about that. We'll get to that. >> No. Careful. There's like Where's the straight line? >> We have We have a tape. We're going to put a tape on the ground for the straight line. Cuz you got to you got to hold on. Where you going? Come over here. >> No. Straight line. Let's go. >> That's That's That's the next step. >> Straight line. Let's go. >> Why should we over here, please? >> Oh. Oh my god. >> Over here. >> She'd be done right now. >> Can you take my car over here >> right now? >> Stop. >> Put handcuffs on her. put handcuffs on her. >> Oh my god. >> There we go. It's about time. She needed to be in cuffs well before um they actually put cuffs on her. But it's the second that she put her hands out and uh you know started backing up and then the officer grabbed her and she put her hands that's it. Like she obviously isn't going to participate in these. Um, she doesn't understand that you do the horizontal gaze nestagmas before you do the walk and turn. Um, it's the way that we're instructed. It's the way that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants this test battery administered. Um, it's they're the officers are trying to do everything right. Although it's at a snail's pace, they're trying to do everything right and she's just not participating. That's fine. That's cause a refusal. Just do it. Just put your hands on her, place her in custody. she didn't want to do it. That that was that seemed to be a much longer decision to get to that final um you know act of placing her into custody because she just needed to she needed to go just do it. >> Getting straight line. >> That took >> painfully too long. >> Straight line. >> Where the is the stream? >> Okay, relax. Relax. >> No. Where the [ __ ] is MAX STREET? WHERE the is this straight line? >> Wow. >> No. [ __ ] you. >> Oh, you want to fill me up? >> You want to fill me up? >> Have a seat, man. >> No. >> That was a female. >> Good. >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat. Have a seat. Come on. >> Very good. >> Have a seat. >> Just have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Why? >> You're going to hurt yourself. Have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Why? Just stop resisting. Just You're going to hurt yourself. >> Why? >> Wow. >> Call it online. >> What was that? >> Signal. >> I'm not doing anything. >> Slip. Both the cops. Stay right here. I was just telling you I >> just so you know man just just got honestly just so you know just I got to inform you this. Okay. We tried to argue this exercise. >> I justing told you your behavior. You refuse to cooperate and not >> I didn't refuse to behave. I literally just told you. >> Okay. We're not in their restaurant. What do you want? >> I wonder what that patch is. >> I You're both of you. >> Both of you. I literally told you. I shared with both OF YOU. I told you. I shared with you. You >> actually We can't go to the We got to go get her and try to see if she can provide >> here in the state of Arizona. our the industry standard, the most common practice is to obtain blood from a suspect under DUI like this, especially where drug use is believed to be the the major factor of impairment. Um they they talked about alcohol, but no one said that they smelled alcohol. So, if there's no alcohol there, a breath sample is useless. Breath is is the primary um you know, test for alcohol in many states, but it doesn't do anything for drugs. So, if she's under the influence of some sort of narcotic and she takes a breath test and the breath test shows zeros, you're going to have to get a blood test anyway. So, I may maybe it's a department policy that they just jump through these hoops for no reason just to articulate that they did. Maybe it's state law. Um, I don't know. I'm just I'm not that familiar with with how things happen there in Florida. But, um, and I probably should because we see so many videos from there. But um yeah, here in Arizona, we're taking her back to the station. We're gonna ask her to submit to a blood test. If she says yes, I'll draw the blood. If she says no, we're gonna petition for a search warrant. And once a search warrant is granted, then we're going to take her blood whether she likes it or not. And then we'll move on from there. But she definitely needed that that level of attention. The way she's acting up, >> she is not going to provide a breath sample. The woman was detained and charged with DUI involving a crash with property damage. DUI with a person under 18 in the vehicle willfully refusing to sign and accept a traffic summon. Body cam bingo was a zero. So, we did nothing. I love the card. I just I I watched a long video and it yielded nothing. So, I didn't get to check any of these boxes. But a box that you guys need to check is membership. So, be a member. Um, you get early access to videos when we can get them up super quick. You get a fires of Frank badge. We do membersonly live chats. Try to do one a month. Um, and one of the biggest things is for Black Friday, we did a membersonly code for uh, you know, a percentage off from friesfrank.com. We're going to do that more often. So Sam really liked it and um, it gives it. It's another way that we say, "Hey, thanks for being members." So you want all that? Hit that.
