on February 4th 2023 Lacrosse County dispatch informed nearby law enforcement about a vehicle theft that occurred at a bar in West Salem Wisconsin a bartender told police that a 24-year-old male named Braxton was seen entering and leaving the bar multiple times and appeared to be heavily intoxicated while closing the bar the bartender warmed up their vehicle and offered Braxton a ride but he declined shortly thereafter the bartender noticed Braxton dve ding away with their vehicle minutes later a Homan police officer observed Braxton with the stolen vehicle passing him at a high rate of speed activated speed radar and clocked the vehicle at 105 mph in a 65 mph Zone yes 105 stop vle turn3 you could tell that this is not this officer's first day on the job he's driving at a high speed in a felony Pursuit with a knowingly stolen vehicle and he's super calm on the radio he's probably a triple digit speeds he said the guy passed him at5 which means just because of the way physics works if you're going to close that distance you got to be going more than 105 and he's totally calm on the radio giving good updates posts himself up directs the next units that are coming in uh this guy's definitely on top of his game this night and as he says many times he's supposed to get off at three and this is going to prevent him from getting off at 3: so you got to know it's pretty late in the morning after bar Clos so it's probably what like 1 2:00 in the morning and uh and he's still still razor sharp so awesome it's a dark [Music] color 76 it's going to be the same vehle pass 13 for from County just in case we end up up there during his attempt to negotiate a corner the vehicle eventually departed from the roadway and collided with the barrier fence rendering it completely inoperable oh 716 1050 1050 13 and 1 12 turn your siren off there we go I love that this office jumps out of the car immediately goes straight to Rifle I love it uh apparently they had some some information that there were weapons in the car that had crashed but I love that he goes straight to Rifle um rifle is my weapon of choice um I think it's it's the perfect mixture of being mobile and having accuracy and distance to be able to keep you away from someone um but it's it was the perfect choice in this instance and uh hats off to that officer driver show me a hands this is a police you are under arrest despite being ordered repeatedly to raise his hands he failed to comply with the officer's instructions driver show me your hands now driver show me your hands this is the police approaching Braxton the officer observed that he had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech anybody else in the car fix okay ready let's go check the car I only see him I think this is a car additionally a strong odor of intoxicant was emitting from inside the vehicle let's go this way though oh move up god that car is W dude he was all over the road well I'm not getting off a three of my [ __ ] unlike like a normal job where you work like quote 9 to5 like a bank right a bank closes at 5 you know shortly after that you're going home La enforcement's a little bit different this this cop's like I supposed to get off at three all of this paperwork and an accident investigation um a stolen vehicle then DUI having to take him to a hospital then book him in jail um it's super common that our shifts could be extended by hours you guys search him I'm not I'm not hurt brother I'm not hurt brother I would I would tell you if I was hurt I would tell you if I was hurt I would tell if I was hurt to Braxton's erratic mood swings and potential resistance the officer refrained from performing field sobriety tests on him don't think it's worth I don't think you really have to we're not going to take his handcuffs off and then let him you know conduct field variety test there is a such thing as the totality of the circumstances so you don't have to have someone walking a line or performing the horizontal gaze nice stag Miss with a oneel leg stand to know that this guy is impaired [ __ ] is going on get in the car get in the car you [ __ ] we had plenty enough driving behavior before he crashed he stole it out of bar I agree with that decision he already ran from us once he's been Cooperative but there's no use testing it you guys get a hold of my dad yet you dump call my dad you hospital for a legal blood draw you guys whenever you do a report just want to notate anything in there from witnesses that told you he was drunk my car smells like a brewery so I'm not I'm not a douchebag dude like would you guys drop me off on buy back home you know what I mean yeah the felony statue what I mean the misdemeanor statute is only if it's returned within 24 hours I I'm sorry I implied consent law I'm required to read this notice to you you've either been arrested for an offense that involves driving or operating a motor vehicle while Under the Influence if you refuse to take any test that this agency request your operating privilege will be revoked results are the facts that you refuse testing set of service or disqualified in addition your operating privileges will you submit to an evidentiary chemical test to your blood yes or no Braxton my yes or no first they ask his consent hey will you consent to a chemical test um after he doesn't expressly say yes I will consent to a test um it sounds like these officers got a warrant very common place we have them here in Arizona uh we actually do all of our warrants electronically where you just get called by a judge you get sworn in over the phone U they read your affidavit and then they Grant a warrant which allows you to take blood from someone as long as you have probable cause for rest even if that person doesn't want their blood drawn um so being able to get a warrant in a timely manner is is a big variable uh in investigations like this especially very late at night and uh looks like these officers were on the ball that night this isn't something I'm calling your dad for are you going to con dad not yet are you going to consent yes or no you going to call my dad are you going to consent yes or no call my dad okay I'm going to accept that as a refusal I don't going to do [ __ ] for you I know how the [ __ ] system works sweet good for you man I'm glad you're so smart not smart enough to not steal a car and then get in a crash Braxton repeatedly expressed urgency to urinate and insisted on contacting his father all my ask I have to pee sweet can you let me pee uh yes we'll be going we have them um I'm a law enforcement fot I've been one for over 20 years uh so I conduct my own blood draws but if there's an extenda circumstance if I'm not on shift or there's not a fotus on um we commonly take suspects to hospitals later on it was discovered that Braxton was an intern for a local police department and had Ambitions of becoming a police officer being a [ __ ] G in the grass did you you just started being a sheriff yeah you're right along with the [ __ ] what's his name that was right along with the Bulldog right who was that he's a bulldog is he's right along with Canan was a bulldog right okay right I pull you over or something uh I'm a [ __ ] I used to R along with [ __ ] Campbell K9 can you fold it up over my nose please I respect you I'm not a dick trust me I'm not a dick I respect I watch you be a cop for a while and I respect what you do and I'm not a dick not a dumbass either so were you Reserve with Campbell no I was not a reserve and that's all like I was uh endangering safety vehicle fleeing eluding an officer and misdemeanor resisting obstructing an officer furthermore he was cited for ow first offense and received several other citations totaling over $3,000 lastly he was released a few days later on a $11,000 signature Bond
