from Matt Riley, Cranston's councilman, a corrupt attorney who claimed to be a victim after he was caught with an illegal substance. >> You're a councilman in Cranston smoking with on you. >> What do you think the constituents would say? >> I I've been clean for 13 years. went through really bad divorce series and I did relapse >> to this self-proclaimed good Samaritan Claire Hall who thought that her lawyer status gave her the right to interfere with an official investigation without any consequences. >> I'm you need to tell me is he going to be here? >> I don't need to tell you anything. I'm going to arrest you in a second if you don't get in your car. Do you understand? I'm not kidding you. You are you are not involved. >> Instructed you to do something a good refused to do it. I am a good Samaritan who stopped to help a kid. And this happened. >> These dumb attorneys got themselves arrested. >> Starting with this attorney who thought it was an awesome idea to a former client of his who owed him money at a wedding party. >> I got you got to Okay. What happened? He hit me and his wife. He had a plate in front of a 100 witnesses. He wanted to hit me with a plate. We're standing waiting to get food and the guy in front of me was a former client of mine. He stiffed me for some money. Okay. >> On January the 18th, 2025, officers with the Boca Raton Police Department responded to a wedding venue in Boca Raton, Florida. Following reports of a battery incident, what was meant to be a joyful celebration had suddenly descended into chaos and only the timely intervention of the police could save the day. >> Nikki, hold up. Who? I got you. Okay. What happened? >> He hit me and his wife. >> Who's him? Mark Ro. >> He hit a lot of people in the head with takes. A lot of people had he took out the tire. He wanted to freaking choke. >> So, I'm just going to tell you. So, my daughter cut the line. He grabbed me and I purposely I wasn't doing first and he punched me. Grabbed me. He had a plate in front of a 100 witnesses. He wanted to hit me with the plate. >> He had a choke in the back of your neck. >> Did he hit you with the plate or or No, >> his wife. He wiped it. >> No, I think he hit his wife hit me first and then he hit me with the plate, too. I got hit. Look. No, I don't want to twirl. >> Where did he hit you? >> Right here. >> You'll see. >> Right there. Okay. There is a red mark. Stay right here for me. >> Yeah. I'm going to come back and talk. >> Used to work here saw saw everything. She She's She's a witness to it. >> Okay. She's a witness to it. >> She's She's the manager of this place. And that's the employee. They both saw everything. >> She grabbed the plate out of her hand. You should get a seat. >> Yeah. Give me Give me one second. Just stay here for me. Okay. We want you guys to have fun inside. >> Hello. >> Okay. >> So, you are the manager of >> I'm the director of >> the director. Okay. >> You guys have cameras? >> Yes, you do. >> Okay. >> Um, we're having the GM check. All I saw was the wife of him take a plate and she was about to hit someone, a girl over the head with it. And I grabbed the plate from her. >> Okay. >> There was already punches going, but I saw her with that hit someone. >> She I took the plate. I grabbed it out of her hand. She was about to and I grabbed it. Did she Did she hit anyone before? >> She was trying to. >> They were trying to. Okay. >> They were definitely the aggressors. >> Okay. So, ma'am, so are you Did you see like the whole thing that happened or you just saw the >> I just saw that one part? I saw I don't know who started who. I saw punches and I saw her with the plate. I jumped over, grabbed the plate. >> You're going to be here, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, just try to get the video for me and then as soon as you can come find me. Okay. >> Okay. Um, so go ahead and walk me through from when you guys were in line. >> When we were in line, um, >> so what kind of started the whole first my niece, which is her brother is getting married. So he's like that. So she came in, she said, "Oh, I uncle." Of course, it's our culture. We do it. Everybody cuts, two people cut. >> Then two more girls came in and it's a thing. >> Yeah. And he goes, "Hey, you got to go to the back of the line." I'm like they're little girls and some words were exchanged which I don't remember but he pushed me he belly pushed me like that >> and almost went backwards and then he grabbed me by the neck and he had a plate up in the ear and I purposely didn't want to do it because it's my >> nephew's wedding right >> and I was shocked how it went from zero to 100 so quickly >> and he had to play and I purposely didn't want to defend myself even though I could have but other people grabbed him. Meanwhile, I think his wife hit me in the head with the plate. Um, I felt the second plate, I'm assuming was him that hit me with the plate as well, but he attacked me several times, but a lot and like I said, I purposely didn't want to fight back to I think one time just to kind of like push him off of me and then otherwise I never even fought back. >> Okay. So, when he grabbed you right after he pushed you, did you like kind of fall or what? >> He was I was literally dangling almost when he like when he pushed you like with his belly >> basically I'm like falling backwards. >> Just do me a favor though. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know how to do it. Let me get my son. >> You don't you don't have to demonstrate it, but just kind of explain it to me. >> He grabbed he had me in a choke hold. >> He had me in the choke hold cuz he grabbed my tie. I was like in a choke hole >> and he was grabbing me like this and he had the plate and I'm like this. Literally like my head's up in the air like this and he's pushing me backwards like that. He has full command of me, pushing me backward with a plate over my head, which I thought he was going to and then bunch of people jumped in and started defending me. >> Okay. Um, so when that happened, right, you said you felt a plate hit your head. >> The wife definitely hit me in the head. The head. Yes, I know that for a fact. And I think he hit me in the head with the plate as well. >> Okay. >> And you might have to check the video. It happened a little too fast. >> Okay. Did you Did you see any of that or >> I saw her hitting me head in the plate. 100%. Yes, cuz he was trying to hit me a second time in the head with the plate also. And then he had the plate and I thought I felt a second plate on my head. So I'm assuming he was in the vicinity and he had a plate in his hand and only him and his wife were hitting everybody in the head with plates and nobody else was doing that. >> As the witnesses recounted their version of events, the officer found himself questioning whether parts of the story had been exaggerated because the allegation seemed difficult to believe. It wasn't every day that police were told a wedding guest had allegedly turned on other guests. So, right, it started out you were in line, your niece came over and wanted to get in line with you and it's like a family wedding setting and then two other girls came over, daughters. >> Um, they came over to get in line and stuff and then he said something about it cuz he got upset. >> He yelled at the girls to get into >> and you were like and you told him, hey, like, you know, knock it off. It's it's a wedding, whatever. And then you took offense to that and kind of he shoved you with his stomach and then you falling back into that shocked me into the table kind of into the table >> and then he grabbed your your kind of like neck area and he had a plate over my head. >> Okay. And he had a plate over your head and he was hit in the head with a plate and I think people >> at what point did you when did you see his wife hit you with the plate? >> After that incident. After after that after they somebody knocked him off of me. >> Okay. And I think I don't know if he still had me in a chokco or not, but I saw her hit me in the head with the plate. >> Okay. >> She literally I turned around and she was right there. Hitting me in the head with a plate. >> Did the plate break at all? >> Yeah. In my head? Yes. >> Um, is there anything I failed to ask you'd like to add to the statement? >> No. >> So, you were there at the station, right? Were you like dishing out food? >> No, I was getting ready to help my other coworker Charlie start carving. Okay. So, you're at the carbon station, right? >> Yeah. So, I'm at the carbon station and then there's a slimmer guy who was wearing a gray coat. He was about to get food, but out of nowhere, like on the corner, a guy, a fluffier guy, baldheaded, wearing a blue shirt came and he was holding the plate and he was like, "What was said earlier?" And then the slimmer guy said, >> "Did you hear what he was saying at all?" >> He just That's what he he's like, "I don't was like, "What was that you were saying earlier?" And then that's when the slimmer guy was like, "What are you talking about? I don't know what you're talking about." That's when the slimmer guy, the [ __ ] "No, no, all [ __ ] you're talking about. Let's do it now." So then the other swimmer guy turned his head cuz he was like trying to ignore it. And then the fluffier guy took the plate and smashed it on his head. >> So he took the plate, smacked it on his head. Did it break? >> Yeah, >> it broke. Okay. Um, do you know what hand he used to smash it on his head? No, no, >> probably his right. But I >> You weren't sure. No, but you you saw him smash. >> Yeah, I've seen that part. >> Okay. And then And then what happened? >> Once the plate was smashed, that's when the slimmer guy start throwing his hands at him like, "Yo, like just start punching him." But once like once they start punching, it's like the kids, the slimmer guy kids start jumping into a fight. And then some lady on the fluffiest guy side start jumping in the fight. Next thing you know, like people are slamming plates on each other's head. >> Oh, so it's like multiple plates. >> It was like it was like 10 to 20 people ganging up on everybody. >> On everybody? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, so did you see at any point like uh a female smasher plate on someone's hair? >> Yes. She was wearing red. >> Red. That's all I can remember about that. She was wearing like this like I know she was wearing if I seen her her I would know. I could point her out. But she was wearing this like reddish and like gold accessories. She came and she smashed that plate hard >> on the the slimmer guy's head. >> The slimmer guy's head. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Cuz he wasn't trying the slimmer guy wasn't trying to fight at all. >> He wasn't. >> No. Like he was trying to back up. Like he tried to ignore it like multiple times and even kept trying to like back up. It was the fluffier guy who kept coming forward like, "Yo, we're going to do this now." And that's the fight. The fight started because of the fluffier guy cuz he was so consistent and he was getting physical more and more. Even when they pulled them apart, he came back to fight again. >> So they pulled him apart at one point and then he came back. >> Came charging back. >> Okay. Did Did any contact happen then or? Yeah, they started throwing ball like throwing fist at each other again. >> Fist each other again. Um, but like you said before, the whole main thing happened because of the fluffy guy. >> Yeah. >> And he was wearing a blue shirt. >> Blue shirt. Like a white ball. Yeah, fluffy ball. >> Okay. Is there anything I failed to ask you'd like to add to this event? >> There was no alcohol involved. Dude, just pure anger. There was no liquor. This wedding we didn't provide liquor at this wedding. So that's one thing. Thank you so much. No problem. >> After gathering statements from the witnesses, the officers turned their attention to the man accused of becoming violent during the incident. >> All right. Do you have any uh weapons on you or anything like that? That's what they're saying out here. >> I don't have any weapons on. >> Thank you. All right. I'm just going to patch you down real quick only because they said you had you had some type of something. >> Hey kid, man. This chill chill chill. >> Are you kidding me? You think I did that? Were these guys making I got I got into I was standing in front. We're standing waiting to get food >> and the guy in front of me was a former client of mine who stuffed me for some money. >> Okay. >> And whatever. I'm just I'm just sitting there. I'm like whatever. And he's letting his kids >> cut in front. And then, you know, we basically exchanged words >> and we got into a pushing match. >> Mhm. Okay. >> And then about 10 guys attacked me >> and I got Yeah. Nice. >> Let's face what happened. Like, you know, he kicked me after. >> I mean, it was literally like 10 guys attacked me. >> What's the guy's name? Is that Do you have a ID on you or anything? >> You know, he you know, I I didn't I didn't I didn't, >> you know, I was pushing him. I didn't swing a I could have punched him in the face. I didn't. I showed restraint. I was just like this. >> Mhm. >> But I was I was pushing him. But I Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Well, I'm sorry. And >> I'm sorry. >> I appreciate it. >> And anyway, that's then and then and then and then a bunch of And then a bunch of people uh attacked me. >> Okay. >> I got you. >> But I never I never threw a punch. >> Okay. >> I never threw a punch. >> I got you. Defending yourself. >> Yeah. And then and then at the end he kicked me. >> Mhm. >> You know, when he was behind >> He's a piece of >> um somebody saying he he got hit in the head with a plate. Somebody got hit with a plate. >> Hit him with plastic plate to get him off my husband. No. >> What am I supposed to do? He's attacking my husband and I can't punch him in the face. And he's the only person that attacks him. And then his wife and daughter came and pulled my hair. >> Mhm. >> And and someone punched me here. >> There was like 10 guys attacked me. >> Okay. >> Like literally. >> Do you want anybody to look at you? EMS? >> No. I just want to leave. >> Okay. Obviously, you got you got to stay here until we're done with the investigation. I mean, you should be, you know, you should be charging a bunch of people for a I never threw one punch. >> Okay. >> Not one punch. >> I gotcha. Understood. >> And, you know, talk to people. They I like all these indie skulling friends. They're all going to think they're on his side. >> Hey, how's it going? >> Yeah. This wasn't the kind of wedding I was hoping for. If there's I'm not being racist or rude, but if there's 50 Pakistani people, do you think that they're really going to not be >> Well, I understand that. >> I get that. I'm sure. I mean, this is a nice place. I'm sure there's cameras somewhere. >> Did it happen inside? >> I I'm telling I didn't throw one punch. >> Okay. >> And And he kicked me. I saw him kick me. I couldn't see. >> I punched you. >> I couldn't see who was was because there was like 10 guys on me. And so I don't know, you know, I don't know who for sure them them guys were following me after. >> I got you. >> Suddenly, the pieces began to fall into place. The officers learned that the man was an attorney who appeared to believe that he could confront and even attack multiple individuals without facing any real consequences. >> With those rights in mind, are you choosing to speak with him? >> No, I want to war because I I don't think uh I think I want to work. >> Okay, no problem. No problem. Mark, do me a favor. Put the drink down. Put your hands behind your back. >> Can I ask you a question? >> Yeah. >> Why? Why? I'm getting arrested for not talking to you. >> You're under arrest for the investigation I just conducted. >> Been here so long. >> That's why you've been here so long. Go ahead and turn around. >> Sir, can you stop? Hey. Hey. Sir, you're going to get arrested. Sir, >> you have another pair? >> Yes, I >> I have two pairs of handcuffs for you, so it's not going to happen. >> Did you get it? >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Give me one second. Hold on. I'm going to double lock you so we don't get inside. >> I'm Listen to me. >> I just want you to see that the watch is in her hand. >> Okay. I'm your lawyer. Don't Don't answer any questions without a lawyer. This is one side of the story. Just go over here. We're going to go into my partner's car here. Okay. >> I don't think it's right that you're you're parading in front of them and >> we're not parading you. So we're putting you exactly in the car. >> Well, no. No. I don't mean I'm not trying to You don't think we're saying you said we're parading you? >> Well, we actually got to go this side. Um, sorry. But I'm not trying to I'm not trying to bade you, you know. No, I'm not. That's just where we are. >> Can I just Can you loosen the right one a little bit? >> The right one? >> Yeah. >> He should be in the car. >> Is that better? >> I mean, does it have to be in back of me? I mean, I want to pick up. I mean, it's really going to clean it. >> You have two cups on I mean, >> but can you can you not just put my hand in front of me? I'm not going to do anything. I mean, >> if I talk, is there any way we can I cannot go to jail? I'm going to jail one way or another. Just be straight with me. >> Um, can you be straight? >> As of right now, you already asked for an attorney. >> Okay. But I can withdraw that. >> But I'm just saying I'm just saying if I speak to you, I just be straight with you. If if I speak to you, are you going to am I going to jail anyway? I can't give you that answer. >> You have a match up here. >> Mhm. >> If I speak to you and take my hand off. >> Um, here you go. Oh, we got three on there for you. Okay. >> I mean, I I guess I'm lucky you all have my phone. Is that right? >> Um, you can't have your phone, but you can make a phone call if you need. Um, if you want it. So, here's the process, right? It goes into the property and it gets logged. Okay. Just I want my phone, but you can have my wallet, please. >> Okay. Yeah. I'll give her your wallet and I'll bring your phone and your ID. Okay. >> Thank you. No problem. >> He was ultimately charged with felony aggravated battery with a weapon. And a judge set his bond at $1,000. Attacking a client might be dumb, but it's nowhere near as dumb as being caught with illegal substances in a public park as an attorney. >> You're an attorney? >> Yes, I'm I'm the Councilman Prince. >> And you're a councilman in Prince? >> Yes, I am. You're a councilman in Cranston smoking with on you. >> What do you think the constituents would say? >> On May the 15th, 2023, a Rhode Island officer was on patrol when bystanders flagged him down to report a man later identified as Matt Riley, who appeared to be unconscious inside a locked vehicle in a parking lot. Believing he was responding to a routine welfare check, he called for backup before rushing to the scene to assess the situation. >> Hey, how are you? >> Good. How are you? Good. What's going on? >> Why were you here? >> I'm on my way to family court. I just pulled over for a minute to make a phone call and this guy I was up late last night getting court. So I dozed off from >> You dozed off? >> Yes. >> You didn't have anything else on you? >> I I had the bike. That was that was >> any in the car? >> No. >> You smoked? >> Was that you smoked the Is that what happened? >> No. No. That was much much earlier. I was getting my hands out of my pockets, putting everything away, just trying to get everything squid away for court. >> You smoked it earlier before court? >> No. You know, earlier earlier before it was in my pocket. >> Earlier earlier when? >> I said I I said smoked earlier at my house. All right. So you So I I just I'm trying to get this understood. So you smoked at your house. You got in your car. You drove here. You felt tired and you wanted to kn off before going to court? >> No. No. No. Not. >> No. I was getting everything out of my pockets cuz I didn't want anything on me. I I realized we're nowhere near court. So why would you do it over here? >> I live right here. No, I understand that. But you were driving to court, correct? >> Yes. In my pocket, realized it was there. Was going to put it away. >> Is there any car now that I know of? >> Is it your car? >> It's a rental car. >> You're in possession of it? >> Yes. My car is being uh So, you're in possession of that car? >> Yes, sir. >> Is there any in that car? Cuz the officer is looking right now. >> Yeah. Better to be honest with us than if you lie to me. Where is it? >> Yeah. It should be in just the middle uh console. >> Center console. I'm going to pat you down. >> Yes, sir. >> Put into interlock your fingers. Interlock your fingers. >> You have any weapons on you? >> No, not at all. >> All right. >> Road's open. Fant. >> Oh, no way, dude. Really? >> Yes. Yes. I was just taking I was just on my way back from court. >> Well, arrest is going to come check you out, man. I can't let you go. You were literally choking in your sleep. Somebody flagged me down about it. >> Oh, I have sleep apnnea. I'm sorry. Well, and then you have a pipe in your hands. So, it's like >> Sorry. >> Listen, I I have a body camera. Obviously, everything I have is recorded. You know that. And what I've observed is on camera, so I can't pretend I didn't, you know. So, arrest is going to come here and they're going to check you out. >> You know, you, as far as I know, there's no drugs anywhere, so I can't, you know, so there's not a criminal investigation. There's more a health or well-being check type thing. >> Thank you. Um, but uh, yeah, I obviously have to document it. You know, >> there will be no arrest. >> Unable to keep the question to himself, the attorney finally voiced what was on his mind. He wanted to know what would happen next and whether his profession as an attorney would carry any weight as officers decided how to proceed. >> No. Um, is there any are there any in the car or anything like that? >> No. No, nothing. >> All right. How long have uh you had this problem, man? It >> it was a it was a relapse. I been clean for 13 years. >> Do you know if any of that was laced with or anything? Cuz you were out out and like looked like you were choking. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> That's why someone literally sprinted and flagged me down cuz they thought you were having a heart attack or choking. >> I No, not that I know of. >> I was just carrying it all over. I adjusted. >> Great. Handle was wrong. >> I'm sorry. >> It's all right. Can you uh sit over towards the front of your car, please? Thank you. If you're unsteady on your feet, just >> find maybe one of those carbs or something. >> Is Todd available? >> You want me to get him over here? >> Would you mind? >> Yeah. Um I don't mind. Just uh do me a favor. Can you come over to the front of mine? Thanks. Just just hang out in the front while I make this phone call. Thanks. No, sorry. Sorry. You guys checked them out. >> So, I just asked some questions. We just kind of waited to see. He was still on the phone. So, um that's all. We just asked some questions to answer all my questions, but that's as far as we got. >> What's your name? Matt Bradley. >> And you're an attorney? >> Yes, I'm I'm the councilman in Cranston. And you're a councilman in Cranston? >> Yes, I am. >> You're a councilman in Cranston smoking with on you. What do you think the constituents would say? >> I know what I'm going to say, but you know, I'm going to refrain from it, but I >> I've been clean for 13 years. Went through really bad streets and I did relapse. >> Are you getting help? >> Yes. >> So, what happened? If you're getting help, what happened? >> I I just just relapsed. I'm reaching out. I'm getting help. >> All right. Hang tight one second. >> Don't it Listen, it doesn't matter. Just Just I know where I don't know where Major Palado is. It's I I wasn't mean it, but I understand that. But when people just let us do our job, just hang tight. Just talk with them. Thank you. >> Matt appeared to believe that portraying himself as someone in need of help could lessen the consequences of his actions, but ultimately that was a decision left to the officers and the evidence before them. >> Yeah, I know. It's not like I have an option here, man. Sorry. >> Nothing at all. No, you got anything on you? >> Oh, go. >> All right. >> There's stuff all over that car. When your mother gets in that gum, I bet she sits in that and touches her face or mouth and goes down. >> I have no idea. So, >> no. I mean, the >> Yeah. You don't know who you're buying? >> Yeah. >> Did you buy that today? >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday. And you don't is the same guy you usually buy it from. >> I don't usually buy it off anybody. >> They're not all honest people. >> No, I mean I mean >> uh once or twice. >> Yeah, but whoever you buy it from, if you if you continuously buy it from them, you know who you're buying it from. This you don't know what people putting in it. >> No, I I understand. >> You know, they may have made that. That's a big rock you got in there. What's that? A $50 piece? Uh 100 >> 100. So I just just got back into this. >> And you got to this is going to Listen, I this is terrible situation. >> We're all in a tough spot, but we got to do what we got to do right by the numbers. It'll help you in the end. >> Believe me when I tell you. And you'll say to us a month from now, good. Best thing ever happened to me. That's what they all tell us. You can't go down this road anymore. God forbid we find you. That would that's terrible. You know what I mean? You were alone in the car. >> No, I mean I had a set up on the 17th helping. Yeah, >> you just you're going to get on a program right away. I mean, I look at you, you're not the Matt Riley that we know. Trust me. And I >> Listen, your health and your well-being is worth way more >> than any political career. I don't give a >> Yeah, we'll keep it. We'll keep it. Listen, we're not >> We We don't report nothing to the media unless someone tells them. So, and then arrest record is our public record. I'm not going to lie to you. We can do the kids. >> All right. >> There there's there's not much we can do on this. Unfort If I was in your situation, I'd be in handcuffs. >> No. No. I'm not saying Oh, I'm not saying don't arrest in terms of media for kids as much. >> Yeah. No, listen. We are only required to release what we release. And we won't >> we have to release an arrest record by law, you know. >> All right. jump in before you. I mean, there's there's all on the seat. Drugs on the seat. >> Yeah. I mean, I wasn't joking. I have an appointment on 17. >> All right. I'll crack the window for you in a second. >> Matt was charged with possession of an illegal substance. Just when you thought that Matt's excuse was the dumbest response from a legal practitioner who was caught red-handed. Then comes Briashia Achetson Henderson, assistant Essex County prosecutor, who thought that her birthday celebration was a good excuse to drink and drive. >> My 30th birthday brought me here on the ground. I just need to get home. I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was this drunk. >> Edgewater police responded to the parking lot of 461 River Road in Edgewater, New Jersey, after they received a 911 call reporting a woman who was passed out next to their vehicle. Ma'am. Ma'am. >> All right. Ma'am. Ma'am. >> What? >> What's Are you all right? What's going on? >> I'm sorry. What? B A. >> Is that not when I'm parking here? >> No. What's going on? >> She tried me a second degree TV8. >> You realize where you are right now? ACD. >> No, you're out laying down on the ground outside of your vehicle. >> But outside of African >> laying Are you okay? >> I'm okay. It's just hard. >> Well, why is your car up on the curb like that? Why are you laying down? Like, are you having any Do you have any medical problems? Anything like that? >> No, >> you have nothing like that. >> Just need medical in case I come for my son. Okay. So, why are you laying on the ground? >> And why is your car half up on the curb? >> What time is it? >> Time is it? Let me tell you. I want to say it's about It's 8:20. >> Oh my god, it's early. >> I just need my car to get home. >> Okay. Well, where's home? Where you going? >> Where are we now? What? Right now you're in Edgewater. >> We're in New York. Or not. >> You're in Edgewater. >> Edgewater. Wow. Still, >> what happened? What's going on? What brought you out here? Like on the ground? >> Yikes. My 30th birthday brought me here on the ground. >> So, what do I need to do? >> Where were you before this? >> That's my home. Oh my god. >> I was at a bar in Edgewater. What happened to you? >> Do you have an ID on you? >> Sure. >> Thank you. >> Despite showing signs of intoxication, Briashia appeared to know exactly what was on the line. She understood that a field sobriety test was likely the next step and that a failed test could have serious consequences for both her freedom and her career. Faced with that reality, she appeared to devise a plan of her own. One that she hoped would allow her to avoid the test entirely. >> I'm sorry. >> Are you okay? >> I need calm. I'm sorry. I got to get that seat belt. >> Oh my god. >> Oh. Once Briashia was secured in the patrol vehicle, officers proceeded to search her car. Given everything that they had encountered so far, they braced themselves for the possibility that the search might uncover even more concerning evidence. >> I I did a quick look around, >> but I didn't see anything. Do you need her insurance? >> No. No. There's no floor mats are messing me up. >> Yeah, I know. >> It looks like something spoke all over it. >> All right. Well, she has nothing here. >> Yeah. No alcohol in the car, so >> I don't know. She couldn't do that. She couldn't do the test. >> After completing what seemed like the last stage of the investigation, it was now time to drive Briashia to jail. But upon their arrival, they made a shocking discovery that was about to change everything. [snorts] >> Ma'am, ma'am, hello. >> Can you just uh step on out, please? >> Okay. >> Trying to th >> What are you trying to do? Okay, here you want to just sit down and run. >> In the end, she saved her job by pleading guilty to reckless driving and she paid a $340 fine. The next case takes us to South Kingtown, Rhode Island, where 51-year-old Claire Hall was knocked down a notch after she attempted to interfere in police business under the apparent yet very delusional belief that her profession as an attorney placed her above the rules. >> Can you please go sit in your car? You have nothing to do with this. Father, I understand. I'm an attorney cuz he's a minor. And you need to tell me. Is he going to be here? >> I don't need to tell you anything. I'm going to arrest you in a second if you don't get in your car. Do you understand? >> I have a good Samaritan who stopped to help a kid. And this is what happened. >> On February the 9th, 2023, officers with the South Kingtown Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a reported crash following multiple calls reporting the incident. Upon arrival, their primary concern was the safety and well-being of those involved. However, as officers were trying to piece together what had happened, they suddenly realized that they just might have a much larger problem on their hands. His phone is in >> now. Try and turn it off. >> Um, but he's shaking like crazy, so he's probably should not be driving. Is he going to be here? >> I don't need to tell you anything. I'm going to arrest you in a second if you don't get in your car. Do you understand? I'm not kidding you. You are impeding an investigation right now and you're really bothering me. Go sit in your car. >> I will talk to him in a minute. GET IN YOUR CAR NOW. >> TELL TAKE IT. NO, you do NOT TOUCH ME. OH MY GOD. What are you doing? Oh my god. Are you kidding me? >> Knock it off. >> You will be >> Knock it off. >> No, you get your hands off it right now. I'm not even involved in this. I can't believe this. >> That was our point the whole time. >> I cannot believe this. >> That was our point the whole time. You are not involved. >> You are not involved. >> We instructed you to do something. >> You refused to do it. I have a good Samaritan who stopped to help a kid and what happened. Okay, stop growing. I'll get up on my own. >> No. >> OH MY GOD. STOP IT. [screaming] >> I want my bones OVER THERE. >> WHAT AM I DOING? He's pulling. He's pulling. Hey, stop. Get my shoe. >> Please get my shoe. >> Okay. >> Get my Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. I've never I cannot even believe this. No, this man is beating the out of me. >> Holy. He is. >> Oh my god. >> Oh my god. This is the craziest. I've never I Stop pushing me, please. I won't walk. >> With Claire now in handcuffs, the officers assume the consequences of her actions had now become clear. Yet, her next move left them questioning whether she had learned anything at all. >> You are. You guys don't know how much struggle you are. I am going to see you both for >> I know >> you're in so much trouble. I can't even I can't even tell you. Oh my god. This is the craziest thing I've ever in my entire I'm not going to relax. I am so I can't help it. >> I I don't have to you guys. What do you Where do you get this much? This is [ __ ] I need my phone. It's on the ground over there. >> I won't grab it. >> Call my husband. He's also an attorney. >> Go ahead. Go ahead. This is so bad. I can't even >> Oh, >> after what seemed like a cold dish of reality well served, the officers returned to the crash scene to begin the investigation that Claire had been trying to impede. >> Can you tell me what happened? >> I I was going wasn't really paying attention and I was on the road, but I think I was looking at my phone and I look up. Next thing I know, I'm right there and I hit the brakes as hard as I could and I hit his car. I I launched forward a little bit. Um, it was a complete break and I that's really it. I just hit the back of this car really hard. >> So, is this a rear end collision? That's what we're talking about. >> Yeah. To be honest with you, >> were you rolling or were you stopped? >> Um, I was like just I'm kind of trying to recollect it, but I was like just I feel like I was just starting to move forward >> and then out of like you stopped at a red light. >> In the end, Clare Halls was charged with obstructing an officer in execution of duty, disorderly conduct, and resisting. In yet another case of dumb attorneys getting themselves arrested. Along comes Debbie, who attempted to lawyer her way out of a DUI situation. >> All right. Well, I mean, step out of the vehicle, cuz there's definitely intoxication. >> No, I'm not drunk. I'm a states attorney. It's not bad. It's like I was driving and the guy said I bumped him and I did a little bit. >> On August the 23rd, 2024, Geneva deputies responded to a hit and run call. Using the caller's detailed description, officers quickly located the suspect's vehicle. The driver clearly determined to flee the scene or speeding away at an unsafe speed before being intercepted by the police. >> All right. Well, I mean, step out of the vehicle cuz there's definitely intoxication here. >> No, I'm not drunk, >> you guys. Seriously, I'm like right there. I'm a states attorney. Help me out here. >> All right, ma'am. Well, do me a favor. Just step out of the vehicle. >> Why? >> Because you're intoxicated. I need to make sure >> I'm so not intoxicated. >> Not at all. >> The officer believes you you are under the influence to some degree. And that's why we're asking you to step out of your vehicle. >> Why though? >> You can decline the field sobriety test, but either way, you have to step out of the vehicle. M >> why? >> Because that's that's the right you you give up when you get your driver's license. >> So when you're stopped by the the local police and you need to present your driver's license. >> Yeah. >> And then once there's other reason suspicion that something else >> seriously >> help me out here. >> That's okay. So, what just what you're going to do is that this matter all originated in St. Charles. I I understand I I understand what attorney's office. >> Um so, St. Charles a St. Charles police officer is going to come in and speak to you. >> Okay. >> All right. And you can explain whatever whatever whatever you feel is necessary. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> It's not bad. It's like I was driving and the guy said I bumped him and I did a little bit maybe. I don't even I didn't even feel it. I'm like, "All right." So, here I was trying to give him my insurance card and he's like, >> "Okay, you can >> I did not I is there damage really?" >> Again, you can explain. I don't know. It's not bad. >> I don't know whatever happened. I don't know the >> the the exact specifics that happened in St. Charles. >> So, I'll let the that officer explain to you whatever the reasons were they were looking for you. So, um, once they get here, they'll explain that and then you >> That's right. You know, I I get it. I I felt like it wasn't even a big thing. It's like, oh, >> turn this to you and that way you can give that to the other officer. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. >> So, we'll stand by. We'll wait here. >> I feel bad. >> What's that? >> I feel bad. I'm sorry. >> That's okay. It's all right. Um, you can explain whatever they need to ask you about them. >> I was trying to give him insurance card. He's like, "Oh, it's no big deal. It's not damage." Like, "All right." >> Okay. >> And that was it. Like a lawyer preparing for trial, Debbie immediately put on her thinking cap. The side of the road had become her courtroom. And with the St. Charles officers on their way, she knew that she had only a few moments to get her story straight and build up her defense. >> Not good, right? >> No, that's not right. It's not right. I felt like it's a Chinese. >> No, that's that's not good right there. >> Yeah. >> Oh, definitely not too happy. >> It's not good. >> No, seriously. I felt like was not Oh, my fault. That is my fault. >> That is your fault. All right. >> No, I did not see that at all. I thought it was a tiny little bump. >> Can you can you stare at your right in front? Okay. I want to check your eyes. All right. >> Okay. Contact lens. You guys are fine. >> You have contact lens? >> Yeah, I do. >> Okay. Can you take them out or No. >> No. God knows. >> You can't take them out. >> That's fine. >> Okay. Yes, that's bad. >> I just want to check your eyes real quick. >> No, I did not feel that at all. It's tiny bump. >> Can you stand in front of your car for me and face me? >> Yeah. Why? What are you doing? >> Appreciate it. Let me close your eyes real quick. >> You can't do that with contacts. >> All right. So, you have contacts. Is is there any other problems with your eyes other than contact? Is it vision like nearsided, farsighted? >> I'm blind as a bad >> blind as bad. Okay. >> And your general health cuz then the content is going to pop. It hurts. Whatever. >> Are you not? You're not going to. >> It's not. If I take them out, maybe I could do it. >> Can you take them out for me? >> This is kind of important right now. So, if you can take them out, let's do it. do whatever. >> Can you just at the end? >> Okay, that's fine. Can you take them out or No, >> you can hold them for me. >> I can. >> Then I literally can't see you. >> That's fine. We can put them back in if you want it. Here. This is a queen. >> Hey, >> here. Deborah, listen. I want I'd like to wrap this up immediately. >> Listen, I'm the gonna do that. Can you please do me a favor and place your contacts on this? It's a clean glove. You can just >> take them out. I'm going to put my contacts out. >> You just said you would take them out. And I'm trying to give you an opportunity, like a place to put them. >> You can put them wherever you'd like as long as you take as long as you take them out. You said you'd take them out. You're not going to. >> Okay. Would you like to try one more time with the contacts in then? Why are you guys doing that? I know you >> listen to me. >> Just let me go home. Okay. >> You hit a vehicle. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And >> I don't think it was that bad. And now I see that. >> Okay. >> It's like a bump and a light. >> You want to try one more time? >> All right. Go try again real quick. >> What are you going to do? >> Watch the tip of my finger. Okay. No. Okay. >> Now you guys are making me really upset. >> Okay. Bro, I'm trying to work with you. >> What are you going to do? >> I'm trying to make sure you're okay right now. >> I am. >> Will you walk in a straight line for me? >> Will you walk in a straight line for me? >> Yes, I know him. >> Can you just let me go home? >> No. >> Why? >> I can't do it. Why? >> Why would you do that? I do. You want me to walk with your leg? Like I I don't know that I could ever do that. >> Why not? >> Cuz I got bad knees. Like I literally have like so many problems right now. My back, my knee. No. >> No. Okay. How about Can you stand on one leg? >> What's that? >> Oh, it went through the house. You just left. I'm serious. >> Do you guys like You're Geneva. You're terrifi. >> What? >> Can you focus with me? >> Of course I can. >> You stand on one foot. >> Yes or no? >> One foot. Like seriously. >> Debbie was convinced that she was one step ahead of everyone. Every excuse, every explanation, and every carefully chosen word made her believe that the officers had no way to verify what she was telling them. As far as she was concerned, the suspicion was fading and the pressure was off. >> I've got That's a bad knee. Really bad. Like I have a torn meniscus. I've had gel injections. Come on. >> Oh, Majuski. >> Yeah, >> it's a good friend of mine. Like, seriously, I'm in charge of delency. Sorry. I live right there. >> No, please just call me my boss. Like, I'm fine. I did make a mistake. I don't think it was that bad. Like that is worse than I thought honestly. >> Jack like what? I'm surprised. >> I bumped somebody. I did not. That is worse than I thought. >> Weared a satellite. >> Did she call you at all? >> Did you speak with him on the phone at all? No, >> he just went off home. I know >> I'm not >> here. Let's uh let me talk to you over here off screen. Okay. >> Um make real quick. Can you try to walk in a straight line? >> She's off. What do you want me to walk on? >> You see this line? >> I know that's a stupid test. >> Like seriously, like I with my bad >> bro. You know I have to do my job. I do. >> You know I have to do my job. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, >> even >> I feel better. Take off. >> You said you got bad knees. >> I do. >> Do you have anything else wrong with you? >> My low back. >> Your lower back. Okay. Anything else? >> Probably not. >> Place your left foot on the >> Oh my gosh. >> Left foot on the line. No, you can face me. You're facing me. Left foot on the line just like me. >> Yeah, but that's a stupid test. >> There you go. But you're right. >> I could not do that so long ago. I couldn't even do that when I was in. >> All right. >> No, it's not easy. >> You want to try it out? Don't do anything. >> I know. >> I already tal me. It's just a stupid thing. >> I know. I I knew that when I was in DUI. Like seriously, this is like so like I will >> call >> I told B. >> Let me do it. I'm not trying to not trying to hurt you or anything. Deborah, >> I got this. >> I'm just making sure. Okay. Are your wrists okay? I don't know if you really cared. After all was said and done, Debbie was charged with DUI, reckless driving, leaving a crash scene, and driving too
